Gears of War 2 to Get Censored?

Gears of War 2 will ship with a violence filter, much like the blood code of decades past for Mortal Kombat, in order to head off outrage at the proverbial pass. The filter will actually turn blood and gore into a show of sparks and curtail the oft usage of cursing. Does Epic think sparks will make up for the ability to take a meat shield? By the way, why censor a game that is bound to get a Mature rating anyway? Good PR I guess.
