Extensive Co-op Play Coming to Mass Effect 2?

According to various sources of dubious credibility, Mass Effect 2 may ship with cooperative campaign gameplay. No surprise there. However, these reports suggest that the expanded five character parties could also lead to five-player co-op. If this is true, it would seem that co-op will be strictly an online affair (as consoles only support up to four-player simultaneous play), and that BioWare has got its work cut out for it. As such, this rumor is likely incorrect because five player co-op would be prone to major glitching, five different players leveling up every few encounters would be disastrous, and neglecting local co-op would surely rouse the ire of many a critic and fan.
