Valve confirmed today that Avatar awards, like those given out in ‘Splosion Man, will be given to players that attain specific accomplishments while playing.

Acting as a secondary achievement system, as reported by G4’s Stephen Johnson, “the awards will include a health pack for your avatar, a host of L4D2 shirts and Rochelle’s pretty pink Depeche Mode t-shirt, among other gifts.”

In all there will be nine Avatar awards.  G4 has confirmed six so far including two Left 4 Dead 2 shirts, two Depeche Mode shirts, and two Zombie Hand shirts.

If you’re having trouble waiting till November 17^th, Xbox 360 owners can download the demo today.  If you plan on picking up the game through Steam, pre-purchasing the game through Valve's digital download service will give you free access as well as a 10% discount compared to retail copies (that's $15 cheaper than the Xbox 360, plus you don't have to pay tax!)
