Tomorrow, Japanese Wii consumers will be able to get their eyes on premium video content via the Wii no Ma Channel – Nintendo’s streaming video service. Rather than simply watching free content, interested parties will now be able to cough up WiiPoints for more compelling content in the new Theater Room. IGN’s Anoop Gantayat reports that “Users can search for content by genre and rating, view free preview clips, then select to transfer their WiiPoints.” Pricing will vary depending on the content. When this service will hit the rest of the world is still unknown, but it appears that Nintendo’s taking this service seriously, as lots of major players have signed on to support it. In addition to Western companies such as Disney and Warner Bros., Toei, NHK, TV Asahi, and The Pokémon Company will all provide content.
