Red Dead Redemption

Peace was never an option.

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar’s latest opus for 2010. The simplest description of RDR is that it’s Grand Theft Auto set in the Wild West, but even that description doesn’t completely do the game justice. RDR has one of the most fully realized environments in a game, along with a colorful cast of characters, enthralling gameplay, and tons of things to do, there is very little not to like about Red Dead Redemption.

Even though Red Dead Redemption was released early this year, as soon as gamers immersed themselves into the open world Old West environment, it became an early contender for Game of the Year. Red Dead Redemption has one of the best balances in a game to date, with stunning visuals, great voice acting, an immersive world, good gameplay, a good storyline, and a boatload of things to do. If you haven’t played Red Dead Redemption, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Runner-Up
Mass Effect 2

The follow-up to the world’s greatest space opera just got a little better.

Mass Effect 2 continues the saga of Commander Shepherd after the destruction of his ship and the dissemination of the original Mass Effect crew. Blending a great story with plenty of action, Mass Effect 2 was certainly one of the best RPGs produced this year and one of 2010’s must-play titles.
