When Warner Bros. said it would make Lego Dimensions a different kind of NFC game, one where you could buy the base game once, then add on to it every few months with new packs that would keep it fresh, it seemed hard to believe. But it’s stayed true to its word and now, over a year after the base game and its first few packs was released, Lego Dimensions is as endearing and entertaining as it was when it launched.
2016 brought with it the introduction of Lego Dimensions Story Packs. You build up the new items included, scan them into the game, and get to go through six levels with new characters from that adventure. We’ve seen Ghostbusters successfully offer this expansion so far, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them brought us into the world of Harry Potter after that, and next year we’ll get to relive The Lego Batman Movie in our game. That isn’t even taking into account the new level packs that add Midway Arcade, Adventure Time, Mission: Impossible, and Sonic the Hedgehog levels!
