Based in the Cayman Islands, next to a large money laundering… I mean, banking institution, Rum Runner Soft recently announced the development of a new table game title for the PC and Xbox 360.
Called Pirates of the Casino, the new gambling simulator will provide for a real casino experience complete with a cheesy pirate theme, all the games of chance you could wish for, and 1000 person, online poker tournaments. Heck, it's even going to be free to download! Sounds great, right? But, what's the catch? Well, players will have to wager real MS points to back up their bets.
Development on the project seems to be well underway, as key talent including Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom will reprise their roles from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and Will Turner will be found throughout the game serving as a drunken patron, a B.B.G. opponent, and a d-bag, ladies' man whale cod-blocking your every move, respectively.
Also, atmosphere will be critical to the final product. Rum Runner Soft has recreated other salty and seedy clientele by fashioning a crew of scalawags in their own image - apparently the developers are a scurvy-ridden lot, complete with eye patches and pegged-legs. When asked how development on the game's been going, Clarence "Righty" Upshaw declared, "Avast! It's been a smooth sail 'round the perilous wat'ers of coding, 'cept fer the unusual amount of keyboards we've gone t'ru on the account of me hook."
What's more, the devs have taken the liberty of converting the Flying Dutchman, featured in Dead Man's Chest, into a world-class casino. Charlie "Yarrr-ly" Smith, designer of the virtual vessel, proclaimed, "Ay, she's a beaut' she is! Liquor up front and poker in the rear!"
In addition to the great gaming atmosphere, players will be treated to intriguing variations on well-known games such as Parrot Craps, Black Beard Black Jack, Russian Roulette, Limey Keno, and a salon of One-armed Buccaneers. When pressed on the issue of how loose the slots are, Pim "Daddy" Foster smiled and coolly replied, "Matey, the wenches 'round here are the loosest slots you'll find."
Get ready to set sail for gambling fun when Pirates of the Casino releases for PC and XBLA on April 25th.
