It's time to bring on the best of the best, the cream of the crop, of if you want to get fancy, la crème de la crème. The Uncharted series is known for its gorgeous visuals and remarkable storytelling, and its characters truly stand out and carry the experience. These games are filled with interesting, likable characters with real personalities, real emotions, and realistic looks. Elena Fisher is the best of the bunch, since she's an incredibly strong character who doesn't really require anyone's help. In other words, she's pretty badass.
Oh Alyx, the burden you bear is a heavy one indeed. The Half-Life experience is primarily a solitary one, as the player controls the silent protagonist Gordan Freeman and his trusty crowbar. Because Freeman never utters a word, it's up to his part-time sidekick Alyx Vance to inject the game with a little personality, and she handles this responsibility incredibly well. Half-Life is an amazing series, but I think we can all agree that it'd be a far less enjoyable one without Ms. Vance.
I couldn't have a list of strong women without including at least one baddie, could I? After being left for dead to the Zerg, Kerrigan was understandably a little pissed. Had those who abandoned her to die known that she would become the single greatest threat the universe had ever seen and the cause of billions of deaths, I'm sure they would've considered going that extra mile to give her a hand. Kerrigan's an intimidating persona, but under that Zerg carapace and fiery eyes is the Sarah we were first introduced to over a decade ago.
She's arguably the most iconic female in all of gaming, having starred in a very successful game franchise and even making her way to the silver screen. Croft is wealthy, resourceful, cunning, and beautiful, all in equal parts. If you get in her way, she won't hesitate to cut you down. Her personality has changed a lot over the years as she's gone through a handful of reimaginings and reboots, but that won't keep her from making this list.
The Resident Evil series has had its ups and downs, especially in the character department, but one area where it's always paved new ground in is with its strong female cast. The original games introduced us to classics like Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers, while later games gave us the equally as memorable Ada Wong and Sheva Alomar. Every last one of them is unique and interesting in her own way, ranging from the cold and efficient Ada Wong, to the innocent and intelligent Rebecca Chambers. They're not all hits though, so to be fair, I'll give Resident Evil 4's Ashley Graham a dishonorable mention for being one of the worst video game females ever, if only because I hold a serious grudge against her for making me start over in RE4 so many times.
I'm sure there are personal favorites and least favorites which failed to make this list, so, by all means, use the comments section below to plead the case for your entry, or to reopen the wounds of a horrid game worth of an extra dash of salt.
