BEST MUSIC / ALTERNATIVE GAME: Nominees:

WiiFit was the best in show for Music / Alternative type game because it's so radically different from any other type of music or Alternative game. Games that make you move being used as a form of exercise has always been on the tip of people's tongue. Leave it to the folks at Nintendo to bring this idea full circle.
WiiFit is essentially an all-around exercise encouraging game. It has several modes, including a stretch mode, a dance mode, and even a hula hoop mode. All of these modes are accomplished using an amazingly sensitive peripheral tentatively titled the Wii Balance Board. Of course, WiiFit won't be all business. There will be several simulations that show the fun of the new title. But for the resident fitness buff, there's always stairclimbing!
Overall, I was very impressed with Nintendo's unveiling of the WiiFit. And while Guitar Hero and Rock Band are both very impressive titles, they aren't all that inventive. They're just intonations of the same formula and they can't offer the brand-new experience that WiiFit can. And for that, WiiFit wins my vote for best Music/Alternative game for E3 2007.

BEST PUZZLE / ARCADE GAME:
Nominees:
3rd Place:
2nd Place:
Winner:
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is coming out for the Live Arcade, and I tell you I am completely psyched. I know those of you that haven't played it yet are wondering what the fuss is all about. This is one of my favorite games of 2007 across all platforms and all genres. The DS version of the title was silky smooth, and oh so addictive. It was the perfect portable game, but I'm sure it is going to be just as good for the 360.
The graphics are going to be incredibly crisp and in widescreen, accentuating the already magical feel of the RPG puzzler. The sound effects are also sure to be a joy as they rocked on the normally weak sounding handhelds.
There will be a few changes to the game, however. Casting spells will not be wholly dependant upon the amount and kind of mana you obtain, but also will be limited by a recharge delay. Additionally, the online component is going to be far superior to that of the original game. Playing the single player adventure is truly awesome, but taking it to the street in ranked matches on Live will elevate the game that much further. If you haven't picked up the game yet on the handhelds or PC, my suggestion would be to wait a bit longer, trust me, and download it for your 360.

BEST FIGHTING GAME:
Nominees:
3rd Place:
2nd Place:
Winner:
The ultimate brawl will finally arrive to the Wii on December 3rd, after a long wait filled with lots of anticipation and exciting news for the title. Super Smash Bros. Brawl will have Nintendo classics battling it out one more time, and some new characters have been added to the line-up: Kid Icarus, Wario, and Solid Snake.
It looks like this game is going to be super, and that's why it has achieved the first place on the fighting category, even though the other games look quite interesting too. You will have the opportunity to battle using the Wii-mote and Nunchuk, but the developers wanted to make sure that the game will be made for everyone's taste, so the GameCube controller and the classic will also be an option.
Stay tuned as we bring you more exciting news about this Nintendo favorite!
