BEST HORROR GAME: Nominees:
BEST HORROR GAME:
3rd Place:CONDEMNED 2: BLOODSHOT
2nd Place:SILENT HILL 5
Winner:RESIDENT EVIL 5
Resident Evil. Just saying it aloud can trigger chills and some very intriguing memories. Even though the series itself has ventured into Hollywood territory with the recent trilogy of movies, we all know what made Resident Evil so deliciously good. It's all about the stunning gameplay and those wonderfully horrific undead.
This year's E3 brought the Resident Evil 5 dream to fruition. Gameplay footage was shown at not one, but two of the big 3 press conferences. From what we've seen, it looks like Resident Evil 5 may be the first true successor to the blockbuster Resident Evil 4. This time, your character of choice will be Chris Redfield, MIA since RE2. And your location? It appears to be the warm cities of some place in Africa.
What excites people the most about Resident Evil 5 is that it seems like this game is finally a reality. Whet seemed like an endless "in-the-works" project has finally come to fruition and is poised to infest the consoles of the hopeful soon. Resident Evil 5 has come a long way from far off concept to reality and that's what makes it "Best in Show" for best survival horror at this year's E3.

BEST SPORTS GAME:
3rd Place:FIFA SOCCER 08
2nd Place:TONY HAWK'S PROVING GROUND
Winner:MADDEN NFL 08
The Madden franchise is the top selling sports game every year without fail. Despite complaints that the series adds little to each iteration, every year Madden aficionados rush out to purchase the latest in the football series.
The latest game in the franchise will likely have the same level of success as its predecessors, considering the improved visuals, retooled A.I., and new emphasis on gameplay.
It's no surprise that Madden ran away with the best sports title and it will be no surprise to see us waiting in line this Maddenoliday.

BEST FUN / PARTY GAME:
2nd Place:MARIO STRIKERS: CHARGED
Winner:RAYMAN RAVING RABBIDS 2
You have to love the bunnies. The mischievous miscreants from the first Rayman Raving Rabbids are returning to the Wii and DS exclusively this year, and I could not be happier.
While there are other party titles out there at E3, none of them have captured and almost broken my funny bone from laughter the way the first one did. There were some parts of the first game that I wish they had expanded on; this time around, it looks like they will be doing just that. Rabbids 2 will also have more minigames for us to challenge the bunnies as well, so yet another bonus from the man with no arms.
Another aspect of this game that will create potential side-splitting hilarity is that Rayman will not be diving into the bunnies camps as himself; he will have to dress like a bunny as well. Add the fun factor to the increased amount of minigames, the improved upon multiplayer aspect, and then the fact that bunnies need to wear disguises in order to "fit in," and I'm certain that this game will excel in areas that the first title tripped up on. Where else will we be able to see Jack Sparrow, Spider-Man, Sam Fischer, and many others as bunnies?
