Left 4 Dead (X360, PS3)
Fall 2008 / Dev: Turtle Rock Studios / Pub: Valve

Despite the recent announcement that Left 4 Dead would be delayed until later this year, a huge disappointment to those who hoped to already have it in their hands, the game proves to be another Valve success. Built on the Source Engine, Left 4 Dead is a multiplayer-only cooperative game that pits a team of four survivors, equipped with all manners of guns and blunt objects, against a team of four infected monsters. However, this won't be a standard four versus four match because the four infected players will have an A.I.-controlled, fast-moving infected horde spawning and attacking the survivors when they least expect it.

While many FPS games allow the players to be heroes, making it easy for them to run around solo, Left 4 Dead dares to shut down this mentality. As a member of the survivor team, leaving the group will most surely lead to certain death. And, when it comes down to it, gamers love cooperative play and killing zomb-"zombie-like" creatures. Catch and spread the infection on your PC and Xbox 360 later this year. - Derek Hidey

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: The Sealed Grimoire (DS)
TBA 2008 / Dev: Square Enix / Pub: Square Enix

For many, the words "Final Fantasy" have become synonymous with many great hours of personal time consumed by the ethereal void of digitized RPG adventure. The portability of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on the GBA ushered in a new era where practically every waking second could be effortlessly devoted not only to the fantastic realm of Ivalice but also to turn-based strategy of depths previously only dreamt of on a handheld. With a sequel on the horizon for 2008, and for the DS no less, pocket tacticians can act out another wave of majestic fantasy until their eyes glaze blissfully and their fingers grow numb. Be forewarned; FFTA2 contains over five hundred abilities, three hundred quests, fifty job types, and seven races to choose from. Strategy enthusiasts will surely gorge themselves on this tasty morsel for many days to come. We wait in anticipation. - Nathan Meunier

Tomb Raider Underworld (X360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PC, DS)
Q2 2008 / Dev: Crystal Dynamics / Pub: Eidos Interactive

Lara's new adventure has been on the works for a while and will be brought to us by veteran developer Crystal Dynamics. The game will focus on the vast underworld mythology, and Lara will be capable of doing things she's never done before, like grappling into objects and using them to her advantage. Her combat abilities will also receive an upgrade, and shooting, puzzles, and platforming will all be smoothly integrated in the gameplay. The graphics will also receive the best treatment, as the game will run in full HD resolution, at least on the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3, which are the only systems with that output capability. I certainly can't wait to get my hands on this game! Hopefully it will be as nice as Tomb Raider Anniversary or better. - Maria Montoro
