ABC/Disney and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Coming
to an Xbox 360 Near You
What's all this talk about the format wars got to do with anything? Microsoft is going another way. As most of you know, you can actually download HD content right to your 360. Microsoft has just secured a partnership with ABC/Disney and MGM to bring their vast television and film libraries to Xbox Live. Now Microsoft just needs to peg Xbox points to the dollar and stop trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
Virtual Reality Becoming a Reality?
For all of you out there that loved the Lawnmower Man as much as I did, get ready to live. For those of you that have no idea of what I'm talking about, just know that the much-touted-yet-never-successfully-marketed VR head set is making a comeback. The Vizux AV920-C VideoiWear gives gamers the impression of a 62 inch screen simply by playing their favorite games with the VR attachment. It's a pretty cool little gadget; just don't let your girlfriend catch you wearing it. It's also going to retail for $349.99. That's certainly better than shelling out the cash for a 62 inch plasma, but the TV might be a better investment for your social life.
It's Official; EA Acquires BioWare and Pandemic
Electronic Arts officially announced Monday the 7th that they have completed their acquisition of VG Holding Corp. That means that the development gems of BioWare Corp and Pandemic Studios will now be part of EA's empire. Time will tell if this will be a boon or bust for gamers. Hopefully these developers will continue to have creative license to produce amazing games their way. Certainly EA will provide an influx of cash to get the creative juices flowing, but the video game giant is notorious for fomenting low employee morale.
Nine New Windows Titles Confirmed
As PC gaming buffs may already know, nine new titles were confirmed at CES for the Windows OS. These games are:
CES 2008 was an exciting exhibition of the hottest consumer tech products that are soon to be released. Gamers will have to wait for July when E3 rolls back around to get the really juicy stories, but even still there were some nice gaming announcements made at CES 2008.
