System/s: PS3
Publisher: Konami
Developer: Konami
Release: September 2007

Hotness Factor: 5

What is there not to be excited about when it comes to the next installment of the Metal Gear franchise? It has been a couple of years since we checked in last with Solid Snake, and things have changed a lot.

For starters, Snake is old - that much we know. The how and the why, we are not as certain. It does appear that the fact he is a clone of Big Boss has something to do with it, but only time will tell. This time around, Snake will once more face his great nemesis - Liquid Ocelot, but he will not be doing it alone. Already confirmed to be returning are Raiden, Meryl, Octocan, Roy Campbell, and Naomi Hunter. How each storyline of these characters will pan out is as much of a mystery as Snake's new Octocamo, which will allow him to hide in plain sight by adapting to his surrounding like an octopus. The Octocamo is just one of several promises of more advanced warfare techniques. The strongest hint, or red herring, that this is the conclusion of a soldier's story, has fans in such a frantic frenzy that some may not make it until September. They may just explode with anticipation.

How things play out for one of the most memorable characters in gaming history is still up in the air. This, however, doesn't relinquish any amount of anxiety over the hype and build up of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Then again, there had not been an action game that has received this much build-up in a long time. That is unless you are talking about the next title.

On par with hype, anticipation, and sheer adoration with Metal Gear, is the Grand Theft Auto games. What groundbreaking year would be complete without the inclusion of an action series that sparked the interest of the world, and put Rockstar in the crosshairs of several political figures?

After much skepticism and lack of information, Rockstar finally came through on March 29th with the world's first look at what can only be called the best looking GTA game ever. Originally, Assassin's Creed was set to be a PS3 exclusive. That alone held the attention of gamers and, honestly, was one of the titles that PS3 owners were waiting for to gloat about to the Xbox and PC devout.

When the trailer debuted at E3, it was breathtaking. That one word probably doesn't even begin to describe how mesmerizing the fluid movements of the lead character were. In fact, some would have thought that it was a new installment of the Prince of Persia franchise. However, when it was revealed that it wasn't, anticipation began to grow. That same anticipation has flourished into a frantic frenzy once it was revealed that Ubisoft was bringing the title to the Xbox 360 as well. With Ubisoft's recent track record of amazing gravity defying games, we can be sure that Assassin's Creed will keep us busy until the Prince makes his next-gen debut.

Set in the middle of the Crusades, we will in charge of assassinating the supposed nine people behind the start of the Crusades. With such an important mission already impressing the casual gamer, the only thing missing is the ability to take on hordes of enemies at a time like Dynasty Warriors.
