Super Smash Bros. Brawl Impressions

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Impressions Article

9. What do you think about the graphics overall, including character and stage design?

Graphics in this title were phenomenal, and I was especially impressed with the creative level design. My favorite levels have to be the Pictochat and the Wario Ware levels because they are so interactive!
- Amanda L. Kondolojy

Just as with Super Mario Galaxy, the level design and art direction is clean, colorful, and nostalgic. Sure it may not have the visuals of your average 360 or PS3 game, but Nintendo has proven that games can look good on the Wii.
- Branden Barrett

Awesome character levels. Graphics were nothing spectacular to gawk at.
- Devin Finley

I thought the visuals were great. The characters and stages are all very interesting. My only complaint is how small characters can get on large stages.
- Jonathan Marx

Personally, I think the overall look of the game is great. I love the character models, the stages are great, ranging from complex to simple, and look fantastic.
- Joseph Catalanotto

They did a great job redesigning the characters, and most of the stages are really neat and original. There are a couple of things that could have been polished here and there, especially the loading screens.
- Maria Montoro

The graphics themselves are only a mild step up from Super Smash Bros. Melee, but the unique stage design is a major selling point. The characters look great regardless, and overall it is an improvement all around.
- Nathan Meunier

I like the graphics here; they are crisp and clean with that all too familiar Nintendo style and flare. This is what the Nintendo characters should look like.

10. Is there anything you would have included in the game that's not there?

I would have created leaderboards for the online mode, as well as more player information and/or ranking. I feel that when you're playing online it feels like you're playing the A.I. because you barely know anything about your opponent. I think this would have made the online modes a bit more personable and a little less dry.
- Amanda L. Kondolojy

After playing the game the last few days I can say that it has exceeded my expectations. Everything I loved about SSB 64 and Melee is there, along with a stunning soundtrack, multiple game modes, and online play; it's definitely a top contender for my game of the year so far.
- Branden Barrett

I enjoyed the game overall. It met expectations, and I don't feel any additions were needed.
- Devin Finley

I would have increased the breadth of motion controls, and would have included more Super Mario power-ups, especially in the platform adventure.
- Jonathan Marx

I know this is going to sound fanboyish, but there's honestly nothing hugely missing from the game. Voice chat seems the most obvious addition, but other than that I really think Brawl is a nearly-perfect package.
- Joseph Catalanotto

Voice chat, everyone says! Special online trophies and a few more playable characters would have been sweet. I want to play with Tom Nook!
- Maria Montoro

The inclusion of trial versions of some of the original games characters appear in is a neat touch, but the full versions wouldn't have been a far stretch of the imagination. Hell, they did it with Animal Crossing. Would it have honestly hurt Nintendo so much to slap a few old-school NES titles into the mix?
- Nathan Meunier

A little more match making freedom in the online battles, and, of course, voice chat.
