As
Real As It Gets! The UFC Live In Person
As
part of our research for this article, we attended
a few UFC fights to see what goes on behind
the action. If you think the fights are exciting
to watch on TV, you will be thrilled to see
one in person.
UFC
action begins with the weigh-ins the day before
the event. Weigh-ins are free and open to the
public. All fighters who are fighting the next
day attend the weigh-ins to find out if they
are at their desired weights. Remember, all
fighters must be within their weight class in
order to compete. This is a great chance for
fans to see the fighters up close.
Excited
crowds can be found outside the fight before
the first bout begins. Often, fans can have
the chance to meet some of the fighters before
the event begins. Many fighters who are not
fighting that night will be hanging out outside
the event center.
Once
inside, the action is intensified by the excitement
rippling through the crowd. Any UFC event you
would attend is sure to please. The UFC does
a great job of bringing together memorable fights
that promise a show of skill, talent, and, of
course, blood.
UFC
57
UFC
57 featured an exciting title fight between
Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. As we mentioned
in Liddell's profile, Couture was fighting Liddell
in hopes of winning the belt back from him.
Couture is an amazing fighter at 42 years old,
but unfortunately Liddell's striking power was
too much. Couture was knocked out for the second
time in his career in the second round. The
only other time Couture had been knocked out
was in his second fight with Liddell.
Mike
Van Arsdale and Renato Sobral fought an exciting
fight, but Sobral was able to pull through with
a submission in the second round.
Nick
Diaz and Joe Riggs were both talking big before
they stepped into the ring at UFC 57. Although
Diaz put up a good fight, Riggs won the fight
by unanimous decision on the judges' scorecards
after the fight ended.

UFC

UFC
58 featured the theme USA vs. Canada. The main
fight was another title fight between Rich Franklin
and David Loiseau. Franklin, the American fighter,
was able to beat Loiseau with a decision, but
the fight wasn't easy. Championship fights are
five rounds and Loiseau and Franklin fought
tough until the very end.

George
St-Pierre may finally have his chance at the
belt. BJ Penn, who came out of retirement earlier
this year, fought hard but was no match for
the tough St-Pierre. He won by split decision
after the third round.

UFC
59
UFC
59 is sure to please with some great fights.
The title fight features Andrei Arlovski and
Tim Sylvia who will be duking it out for the
heavyweight championship belt. Sylvia previously
held the belt, but had it stripped from him
by Arlovski. Sylvia will be fighting to retrieve
the belt.
Tito
Ortiz, the Huntington Beach Bad Boy, will be
fighting the winner of The Ultimate Fighter
Season 1, Forrest Griffin. This should be a
great match against an up-and-coming great fighter
and a legendary UFC fighter.
Be
sure not to miss this fight on Pay-Per-View
on April 15, 2006 at 10 PM EST.
