Introduction While Mario is out on his morning walk, Toadsworth comes and asks him to go on a luxurious cruise. Mario cannot reject the offer, so he goes to tell all his friends the news. Meanwhile, Bowser and his servant Koopa Kid are angry Mario did not invite them to the party. As revenge, they are going to try to make the cruise as miserable as possible! ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 2. Characters Mario Party 7 feaures 2 new characters while taking out one as well. Here they are: =-=-=-=-= Playable: =-=-=-=-= Mario - How would you not know him? He is the plumber who always rescues Princess Peach from Bowser. Mario is now the creator of the 7th party him and his friends have. Luigi - Mario’s brother. Luigi always likes to tag along with Mario. He had one or two games featuring him, but he still doesn’t get much attention. Peach - The princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. She is back again for yet another party with Mario. Yoshi - Mario’s pet dinosaur. Yoshi is yet another popular Mario character. The cute green dinosaur comes with Mario to his 7th Party. Wario - Mario’s rival. Wario is overly obsessed with money. Waluigi - Waluigi is Luigi’s rival, and is even taller and skinnier than Luigi is. I guess Mario likes inviting his rivals to the party? Daisy - Daisy is Peach’s friend, but she is more athletic and more of a tomboy. Toad - Peach’s servant, Toad appears in many different games. There are many of them supposedly. Boo - Boo is a ghost that likes to scare people. The Boo in this game has stopped making tricks and now parties with Mario. Boo is my favorite character. Toadette - A female Toad. Toadette is Toad’s friend and helps Mario in his quest in Paper Mario 2. Birdo (unlockable) - An egg-spitting dinosaur wearing a bow that was once an enemy to Mario back in his 8-bit days. Birdo can change into different colors. Dry Bones (unlockable) - One of the undead denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser’s former servant. =-=-=-=-=-=-= Non-Playable: =-=-=-=-=-=-= Toadsworth - An elderly Toad that is Peach’s servant. He invites Mario and the gang to the party, and he is also the host. Donkey Kong - Unfortunately, DK is still a non-playable character. He has his own space on the board and gives out coins and stars. Koopa Kid - Bowser’s servant. He makes attempts to help Bowser ruin the party. Bowser - The Koopa King who always tries to ruin the party. He has set his sights off Princess Peach in this game, and he just wants to ruin everybody’s life. NOTE: If you have any better info I can put under Toadette, Birdo, and Dry Bones, please tell me. You will get full credit. ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 3. Party Cruise The Party Cruise is obviously the meat of Mario Party. It is basically a board game played on the TV. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- a. General Rules of Party Cruise At the start of the party, you will roll a dice block to decide the playing order. Spaces: Blue Space - You get 3 coins. Red Space - You lose 3 coins. Happening (?) Space - An event will take place, depending on what board and what happening space you have landed on. Duel Space - Stop here to start a duel minigame. If you win, you can steal coins and stars from your rival. The prize you get if you win is decided by a roulette wheel. Mic Space - If you land here, you will play a memorization minigame where you have the chance to double the coins you wager. DK Space - If you land here, Donkey Kong will come and start a single-player or multiplayer minigame. In a single-player minigame, only the player who landed on the space plays the minigame for coins or a star. If it is a multiplayer game, everyone will try to gather bananas for coins. Bowser Space - If you stop here, Bowser will start a single-player or multiplayer minigame like DK. But if you lose these games, Bowser will take your coins or a star. Koopa Kid Space - Koopa Kid appears and does a random event. They include: Dividing everyone’s coins equally, exchanging coins, shuffling the orbs, and switching people’s positions on the board. He may also give you a Cursed Mushroom, which makes your dice block only go 1-5. Star Space - This is where you can buy the star for 20 coins. Note that these are only in the boards where you must reach the star space to get a star. Some boards have other means of getting stars. After everyone has landed on their spaces, the turn is over, and a minigame begins. Minigames: After every turn a minigame will begin. The type of minigame is decided by what type of space you landed on. Blue spaces turn your panel blue, red turn your panel red. Green spaces (Happening, Duel, Mic) and Koopa Kid spaces will make your panel a random color. If all 4 panels are blue, or if they are all red, a 4-player minigame will start. If there are 2 red and 2 blue, a 2 Vs. 2 minigame will start. If there is one blue panel and 3 red panels, or vice versa, a 1 vs. 3 minigame will begin. Sometimes 4-player minigames may randomly turn into battle minigames, where everyone must put their coins in the pot. And sometimes 1 vs. 3 or 4-player minigames will turn into mic minigames, ones that require you to use your mic. The normal payout for winning a minigame is 10 coins. Orbs: There are different types of orbs that all do certain things. Green Orbs: These are ones you use on yourself. They do things to give you a special boost. Yellow Orbs: These are orbs you use on a space. If someone lands on it, something bad will happen to them, and you will most likely get whatever they lose. But you should note that someone can take over your space with one of their orbs. You also will get a 5 coin bonus if you stop on your own space. Red Orbs: These are roadblock orbs. They will do something hazardous to whoever passes them first. Your own roadblock cannot hurt you though. After someone passes your roadblock, it goes away. Blue Orbs: These are special orbs, each character has one. You still use them on yourself though. For more on special orbs, look in the Orbs section. Purple Orbs: There is only one of these - the Koopa Kid orb. If you pass an orb space and you get one of these, Koopa Kid will throw it on a random space. But note that you can take over Koopa Kid’s space with one of your own. There are 2 ways to get orbs. You can either pass an orb space and get a random orb, or visit an orb shop and buy whichever one you want (as long as it is in stock) for coins. Bowser Time: After every minigame, the Bowser Meter will fill up a bit. Once it reaches the top, Bowser Time will commence, and he will do a random event depending on the board you are on. Most of the time Bowser does something you don’t exactly like... 8-Player Mode: In 8-player mode, if you are on a team with another human, you will have to share a controller. The lead player is the one who decides whether to buy orbs, take which way on the road, etc. The lead player will switch every turn. And sometimes any minigame could turn into an 8-player minigame. Last 4 Turns: In the last 4 turns, Bowser will come and do an event. The player in last place decides it. Here are the possibilities: 1) Blue and Red spaces are tripled (Blue give you 9 coins, red take away 9 coins). 2) All red spaces become Bowser spaces. 3) Bowser puts 10 Koopa Kid spaces on the board. 4) The player in last place gets 40 coins. 5) Stars are only 10 coins each. (Grand Canal and Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno only) 6) Chain Chomp prices are cut in half. (Pyramid Park only) Bonus Stars: If you have chosen to play with bonus stars, 3 out of the 6 will be awarded at the end. Here are the stars: Minigame Star - This goes to the person who won the most coins in the minigames. Orb Star - This goes to the person who used the most orbs. Action Star - This goes to the person who landed on the most happening spaces. Running Star - This goes to the person who moved the most spaces on the board. Shopping Star - This goes to the person who spent the most coins on orbs. Red Star - This goes to the person who landed on the most red spaces. Winner: The winner of the game is determined by who has the most stars. If there is a tie in stars, whoever had the most coins wins. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- b. Boards Board Name: Grand Canal Number of Blue Spaces: 47 Number of Red Spaces: 10 Number of ? Spaces: 7 Number of Duel Spaces: 2 Description: A lovely town featuring waterways and gondolas. The objective on this board is to go around it collecting coins to buy the star for 20 coins. This is a basic course. Bowser Time Events: 1) Bowser takes a picture, charging everyone 10 or 20 coins. 2) Bowser destroys an orb shop and makes it his own. 3) Bowser destroys the bridges and builds new ones, that are all Bowser spaces. Board Name: Pagoda Peak Number of Blue Spaces: 23 Number of Red Spaces: 5 Number of ? Spaces: 6 Number of Duel Spaces: 3 Description: A 4,000 year-old mountain. The objective in this board is to reach the top of this one track mountain and buy a star from Master Koopa. He starts at 10 coins, but every time someone buys a star his price raises by 10 coins. Bowser Time Events: 1) Bowser takes a picture, charging everyone 10 or 20 coins. 2) Bowser destroys an orb shop and makes it his own. 3) Bowser jumps on a ledge and knocks everybody back some spaces. 4) Bowser breaks a bridge and it become un-crossable for one turn. Board Name: Pyramid Park Number of Blue Spaces: 44 Number of Red Spaces: 8 Number of ? Spaces: 7 Number of Duel Spaces: 5 Description: A desert with ancient temples and ruins. The objective in this board is to steal stars from your rivals by riding the Chain Chomps. Each person starts with 5 stars, and if you manage to hit someone with a Chain Chomp you will take one of their stars. The Red Chain Chomp lets you use more dice blocks for a cheaper price. Bowser Time Events: 1) Bowser takes a picture, charging everyone 10 or 20 coins. 2) Bowser destroys an orb shop and makes it his own. 3) Bowser takes a star from the player in 1st place and gives it to Koopa Kid, who you can hit with a Chain Chomp. 4) Bowser makes a sandstorm and temporarily cuts off the bridges to the other sides. Board Name: Neon Heights Number of Blue Spaces: 45 Number of Red Spaces: 11 Number of ? Spaces: 4 Number of Duel Spaces: 3 Description: A big city sort of like New York. In this board, you have to find stars in treasure chests. There will be 3 treasure chests on random parts of the board, you must pay Koopa Kid 10 coins to open them. One has a Bob-omb, one has 20 coins, and one has the star. Once someone gets the star, they will be randomly placed again. There are also a few places to get extra coins just by passing them. Bowser Time Events: 1) Bowser takes a picture, charging everyone 10 or 20 coins. 2) Bowser takes a star from the player in first place making a chest have two stars, Bowser takes 10 coins from everyone and puts it in the 20 coin chest, or Bowser puts a Ztar Star in the Bob-omb chest. Board Name: Windmillville Number of Blue Spaces: 46 Number of Red Spaces: 7 Number of ? Spaces: 2 Number of Duel Spaces: 4 Description: A board out in the country with lots of windmills. To get the stars here, you must purchase windmills. If you bid the most money on a windmill, the windmill will become yours and you get whatever stars come with it. Some windmills are worth 1 star, some are worth 2, and one is worth 3. But if someone outbids you for the windmill, they will collect the stars for the windmill instead of you. There is a flower glider on the right side of the board that will fly you to one of three places for a fee of 10 coins. Bowser Time Events: 1) Bowser takes a picture, charging everyone 10 or 20 coins. 2) Bowser has Koopa Kid steal the coins from a random windmill. 3) Bowser destroys a windmill and takes away all the coins invested into it. Board Name: Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno! Number of Blue Spaces: (Coming soon) Number of Red Spaces: (Coming soon) Number of ? Spaces: 11 Number of Duel Spaces: 1 Description: Bowser’s board! Oddly enough, there are no Bowser spaces. The way to get the star is the classic way - go around the board and buy it for 20 coins. But since Bowser sinks the island with the star in Bowser Time...things could get hard! The happening spaces are often annoying too. Bowser Time Events: 1) Bowser will sink the island with the star, and take away half of the coins the people who were on it had. ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 4. Solo Cruise The Solo Cruise pits you against a single CPU player in all the boards. You can also challenge a human, but you will not unlock a board by beating them. The rules for winning are also different in Solo Cruise. Every time you beat a board, you can go to the next one. The game records how much turns it takes you to beat all the boards, then it gives a total. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- a. General Rules of Solo Cruise In a nutshell, they are the same as in Party Mode. But there are a few differences... 1) Blue spaces now give 5 coins, and red spaces now take away 5 coins. 2) Certain happening spaces may be changed (For example, the happening space in Neon Heights where aliens came down and swapped the chests, instead of doing that, they put you on the other side of the board). 3) There are coin blocks. Every time you pass a coin block, you can get 5, 10, or even 20 coins. 4) Sometimes stars are in no way involved with beating the board. 5) If you do not finish in 30 turns, the game ends in a tie. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- b. Boards Board Name: Grand Canal Objective: Get 2 stars before your rival does. Strategy: The only real strategy I can give is to hope you are near the star when it pops up. Coins are not hard to get in Solo Cruise, so you are going to need luck to win this one. I would suggest buying Super Mushrooms and Mushrooms even if they are pricey, because the coins will come back to you quickly. Board Name: Pagoda Peak Objective: Collect 100 coins and race for the mountaintop. Strategy: This board should be pretty easy, due to the fact that the computer always wastes their coins at the orb shop. Just don’t spend your coins on ANYTHING, and get to Master Koopa. If you get to the top befofe you have 100 coins, he will let you hit a coin block, then he will send you back down. Board Name: Pyramid Park Objective: Find the Star and give it back to the Bowser Sphinx to win. Strategy: First of all, do not spend any coins at all, UNLESS you see a Snack orb at the orb shop. Get to the Chain Chomp closest to the bandit, and then use two dice blocks to get him. The computer can still take the star, so use a Snack orb if you have it. If not, then go as fast as you can. If the computer gets a hold of the star, use the Red Chain Chomp to get it back. A problem here is the three happening spaces near the Sphinx that send you to the other side. Try to get past these with a Mushroom or Super Mushroom, then pay the Whomp to get through and give the star back. Even if you have the star, make sure you have 10 coins or you cannot pay the Whomp. Board Name: Neon Heights Objective: Find 3 stars inside the treasure chests. Strategy: You are going to need coins in this one. Koopa Kid will start opening the chests at 5 coins, but everytime he opens one of the eight chests, he raises the price by 5 coins. Five of the chests have a star, 3 have Bob-ombs that send you back to start. There is not much advice I can give, just hope you get lucky and get the ones with the stars in them. Board Name: Windmillville Objective: Fix 3 broken windmills before your rival does. Strategy: Never spend coins. There are 8 windmills total. 5 cost 20 coins to fix, 2 cost 30 coins to fix, one costs 50 coins to fix. There really is no reason to try to get the one that costs 50 coins, so go after the 20 (and if you have to) 30 ones. Just hope you can collect more coins and that you are faster than your opponent. Board Name: Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno! Objective: Get a star and challenge Bowser to a showdown. Strategy: You must go around the islands and buy a star for 20 coins to be able to challenge Bowser. If you get the star and go to one of the arrows (one on each island) you can face Bowser in a special minigame. Bowser’s Lovely Lift is not a very easy minigame, you are likely to lose a few times. The goal is to get to the 100th floor. If you die on the 50th floor let’s say, once you challenge Bowser again you will start on floor 50 instead of floor 0. But this also gives the CPU an advantage. Once you beat this board, you have beaten Solo Cruise. There will then be a short scene of Bowser and Koopa Kid on a deserted island saying they will get you next time, while the character you were is cheering. ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 5. Deluxe Cruise The Deluxe Cruise is where you can play all the 8-player minigames you want. There are two options: 8-Player Free Play, which lets you play whatever minigame you choose, and the 8-Player Ice Battle. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- a. 8-Player Ice Battle In the 8-Player Ice Battle, you play 2 vs. 2 8-player minigames (ones that are like 2 vs. 2, except the screen will be separated into 4ths not in half), and free-for-all 8-player minigames. You can also play a combination of the two. You can choose whether to make it so that you are the champ in 3 wins, or you can make it so you need 5 wins. That is about it for the Deluxe Cruise. ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 6. Minigame Cruise In the Minigame Cruise there are 6 different options. There is the Free Play Sub, which lets you play any minigame you unlocked, and some more competitions as well. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- a. Volcano Peril In Volcano Peril, you either have to win 3, 5, or 7 minigames first to win. You can choose to play 4-player minigames, 2 vs. 2 minigames, or 1 vs. 3 minigames. This is a basic minigame competition. If you are the first to win the amount of wins you selected, you win. I said “win” too much, didn’t I? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- b. Waterfall Battle In Waterfall Battle, you compete in duel minigames. The first person to win 3 games in a row is the winner. But if you lose, you are plunged to the bottom of the waterfall. If someone loses to his 3rd opponent, they will plunge down, and anyone they knocked off will be able to get up again and duel the person who beat you. Sound confusing? It really isn’t once you play it for yourself. If you are the first to win 3 straight games, you win. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- c. Pearl Hunt In this game, you compete in 4-player minigames until you find 3 pearls with your picture on them. There are also some special items that make the game more interesting. Whoever wins the minigame gets to pick a pearl. Each person has 3 pearls with their face on them. If you pick somebody else’s pearl, it will close and you wasted your turn. This could be a big advantage for your opponents, because they CAN see when you open a pearl with their picture on it. There are also some items you can find listed below: Mushroom Pearl - Allows you to pick one more pearl. Super Mushroom Pearl - Allows you to pick 2 more pearls. Bob-Omb Pearl - Briefly opens all surrounding pearls. Whirlpool Pearl - Shuffles all pearls. Whoever is the first to find 3 of the pearls with their picture on them wins. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- d. Decathlon Castle Ah, the Decathlon, where you compete for points in 10 different minigames. Like I just said, depending on how well you do on the minigames, the more points you will get. You can do a half race where you only do 5 of the 10 minigames, or a full race where you play all 10 minigames. Before you can play the Decathlon, you need these 10 minigames: Track & Yield Fun Run Snow Ride Target Tag Pokey Pummel Take Me Ohm Kart Wheeled Helipopper Monty’s Revenge Air Farce All the scores you get will be saved, so you can view them in the Duty-Free Shop. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- e. King of the River This is unlockable in the Duty-Free Shop. This game is a superb way to earn Cruise Mileage, and you can also get 3 unique souvenirs here (one even lets you view the credits). You can choose from Easy, Normal, or Hard mode, and you get a different souvenir for beating each one. You go through and do 10- 30 minigames in a row, while having a checkpoint every 5 minigames. You start with 3 lives. If you lose a minigame, you lose 1 life. Every checkpoint, Toadsworth will allow you to save. He will also give you life if you are missing one. Sometimes Koopa Kid will pop up instead of a Spear Guy and start a Bowser Minigame. If you lose all 3 of your lives, it is Game over, and you will have to restart at your last checkpoint. If you clear King of the River, you will receive loads of Cruise Mileage. They depend on if you found special coins (if you beat 5 minigames in a row without losing once, you get a special coin), how many lives you have when you complete it, and how many minigames you completed. ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 7. Minigames Here is where I will list every minigame in the game, I will give the rules (from the game), and also strategies for each of them. ++++++++++++++++++ 4-Player-Minigames ++++++++++++++++++ Name: Catchy Tunes Objective: Run around and collect the falling musical symbols. You must collect one of each kind to win. Controls: Control Stick = Move, A = Jump Difficulty: */***** Fun Factor: **/***** Strategies/Tips: First of all, I suggest jumping on your opponent’s head so you can stun them, AND get the notes before they come down all the way. Keep glancing at the bottom to see which symbols you didn’t collect, then go after those ones. At the start of the game just jump into where you see a pile of symbols falling, then later start to look at which ones you still need. Name: Bubble Brawl Objective: Punch your rivals to force them out of the floating water bubble. Controls: Control Stick = Move, B = Punch Difficulty: ***/***** Fun Factor: ****/***** Strategies/Tips: If you are playing with only the CPU, just stay in the middle of the bubble until only one remains, then take he or she out. Facing any human or brutal CPU in this game is hard. Why? Because if they just punch you once, they can do a continuous combo and easily knock you out. However, you can do this trick as well. Just try to get the first strike in, and you should be fine in this minigame. Name: Track & Yield Objective: Jump over the hurdles on the conveyor belt. The last player standing wins. Controls: Control Stick = Move, A = Jump Difficulty: ****/***** Fun Factor: ***/***** Strategies/Tips: At first the hurdles will come very slowly and it will be easy to jump over them. It will gradually speed up though. By the time 5 seconds are remaining on the clock, your only hope is to continuously pressing A and hoping you get lucky, because it is very hard to even survive that part. Make sure you are extra cautious of the electric hurdles, they guarantee an instant kill. Name: Fun Run Objective: Run for the finish line at the top of the tower, but don’t hit any obstacles. Controls: Control Stick = Move, A = Jump Difficulty: **/***** Fun Factor: ****/***** Strategies/Tips: You will start off running through a huge hallway of Spinies. I suggest to just jump every time a Spiny is in sight, since you will usually end up going over it. Some of the Spinies move, which is why jumping is far more easier to do than simply running throughout the whole game. After you get out of the hallway, you will have two new obstacles along with the Spinies. There are different colored tiles on the ground, JUMP OVER THESE. If you do not, you will fall and waste valuable time. There is also a trap that will push something out as soon as you try to jump/run past it. To avoid this, go very close to it (without going in it’s path) and it should fly out without hitting you. Just jump over it after that. Name: Cointagious Objective: Hit the dice block to earn the same number of coins as the number rolled. Controls: A = Jump Difficulty: 0/***** Fun Factor: 0/***** Strategies/Tips: Oh my, what were you thinking Hudson? This has to be the absolute WORST minigame in Mario Party history. The point is to hit the dice block over and over and get either 0, 1, 2, or 3 coins each time. Here is your golden advice: keep hitting the A button. This minigame may be beneficial to board map players though. Name: Snow Ride Objective: Catch air on your snowboard as you race downhill, but don’t hit any obstacles. Controls: Control Stick = Move Difficulty: */***** Fun Factor: **/***** Strategies/Tips: As the game tells you, the gates alternate left to right, so you should always know what direction you will be turning. This will be pretty easy at first, because there are big gaps between each gate. But later on the gaps will get smaller and smaller, so you will have to maneuver fast. There are also warp pipes in the way that will slow you down, so try to avoid them. Name: Picture This Objective: Turn the picture book pages to find the matching image. The first player to match 3 images wins. Controls: R = Turn pages forward, L = Turn pages backwards, A = Select a page Difficulty: ***/***** Fun Factor: ***/***** Strategies/Tips: You may seem surprised at my difficulty rating. Although the meaning of the game is easy to grasp, there are many pictures that look similar to each other, making it hard to figure out which one is right. Anyway, there are 3 different picture books that are used. One is about a car, one is about snails, and one is about a flower. Once the image appears in the middle, there are some key things to look for. In the snail one, look at the rainbow and the clouds. Quickly flip to that area, then take your time finding the identical picture. If you pick the wrong picture, you cannot guess again for about 5 seconds. Name: Ghost in the Hall Objective: Run for the exit and get out before everyone else. Controls: Control Stick = Move Difficulty: */***** (Once you know the secret, if not ****/*****) Fun Factor: ****/***** Strategies/Tips: The door to the outside is located around the middle of the top end (maybe the middle-right). The secret of this game is to know what to do when you get to the 1st red carpet. There are MANY paths here, but only one path is correct every time. That is the one to the far right. After you take that path, just continue on. If you get to an intersection, guess a way, and if a Pink Boo or door stops you then go back and take the other way. Eventually you will be at the top of the house. The red carpet leading to the backdoor may be in front of you - or you may need to move to the left or right. Like I said, the backdoor is in the middle, so if you find yourself to far to the right, move to the left and vice versa. Eventually you will make it to the door. Name: Big Dripper Objective: Collect the honey that drips from the ceiling, but watch for swarms of killer bees. Controls: Control Stick = Move, A = Duck Difficulty: */***** Fun Factor: **/***** Strategies/Tips: Honey will drip onto the honey piles on the ground. You will see the shadow of a drop when one is coming. If a computer is about to get one near you, you can push them out of the way and get it yourself. When bees are about to come, the controller will rumble. I sugges ducking, because if you get hit you are stunned for a few seconds. And if drops fall onto you while you are ducking, it still counts. Sometimes the bees will fool you though. Either way, I suggest to duck under a honey pile when you feel a rumble. Name: Target Tag Objective: Fly into the floating targets to earn points. The player with the most points is the winner. Controls: Control Stick = Move Difficulty: */***** Fun Factor: ***/***** Strategies/Tips: If you see a 50 point target, definitely go after it. But that doesn’t mean that should be the only one you go after. Go after 30 point targets as well, or if you see a bunch of 5’s or 10’s in a row. Whatever you do, DO NOT hit the Bowser target. It will reduce your points to 0, so even if there is a target worth points right near it, do not go after it. Name: Pokey Pummel Objective: Send the Pokies flying by whacking them with your hammer. The first player to smash all of them wins. Controls: A = Swing hammer Difficulty: ***/***** Fun Factor: */***** Strategies/Tips: Ah, a good old button-mashing minigame. Again, the game is easy to grasp, but tapping the A button super fast takes practice. If you can vibrate you index finger, try doing that. If you can’t, then just continually hit A with your thumb. I am good at these games (I guess from playing MP5 too much), but a lot of my friends aren’t, so I guess it depends on the person. But if you practice doing it, you will get fast at it eventually. Name: Take Me Ohm Objective: Jump over the high-voltage sparks to avoid being tossed from the ring. Controls: Control Stick = Move, A = Jump Difficulty: ****/***** Fun Factor: ****/***** Strategies/Tips: Once you see a Thwomp come down, be prepared to jump over a spark wave coming in that direction. It starts off as only one or two waves at a time, but later on as much as four Thwomps can come down at the same time. If that happens, go to the center and jump once they all meet. I suggest staying away from people in this game, since jumping on them could be deadly for both you and them. Name: Kart Wheeled Objective: Get behind the wheel and race around the figure-eight track. The first player to complete 5 laps is the winner. Controls: Control Stick = Steer, A = Accelerate Difficulty: **/***** Fun Factor: ***/***** Strategies/Tips: First of all, you MUST avoid CPU players in this game. All they do is crash into you and make you lose time. Some even make a wall dort of thing, where they all just pile up so you cannot move. Also, try to stay on the edge of the wall without touching it for maximum speed. If you touch the wall you will be slowed down as well. If the CPU is not letting you move, try to look for a gap in them, or even better, ahead of time try to not touch them, even if you have to get in the middle of the track. ++++++++++++++++++ 4-Player Mic Games ++++++++++++++++++ Name: Balloon Busters Objective: Say “Bigger” into the Mic to inflate the giant balloon, and “stop” to stop. If the person after you pops the balloon, you win. Controls: Say “Bigger”, “Stop” Difficulty: ****/***** Fun Factor: ***/***** Strategies/Tips: This game can get really tricky. In some games, when the balloon gets big it will be able to get many more blows, but in some, the balloon will explode soon after it turns big. You can blow up to 5 times, then you must stop. You can also stop anytime after blowing once, which you should only do if you think the balloon is going to pop within the next two or three blows. A big advantage is if you are playing CPUs. They will usually blow it as much as they can even if the balloon is about to burst, so use that as an advantage. *Wonders how many people are laughing at this description* Name: Clock Watchers Objective: Stop the timer as close to the target time as you can. Controls: Say “Stop” Difficulty: ***/***** Fun Factor: ****/***** Strategies/Tips: There isn’t much tips to give. Just count up to your target time at the same rate you saw the timer go at first. A big advantage is that CPUs are INCREDIBLY stupid in this game. They never get even within one second of their target time. Name: Dart Attack Objective: Say “Fire” to blow a dart at the moving targets. You can launch up to 5 darts. Controls: Say “Fire” Difficulty: ***/***** Fun Factor: **/***** Strategies/Tips: Do not even waste your time going after the 50 target. You are most likely to hit the 0 and end up wasting a dart. Try to get all 20s if you can, since the CPU usually hits all 10s. If you want to try to hit 30s, go ahead. But you only should try to hit the high ones if it is essential for winning the minigame. Name: Oil Crisis Objective: Drive your kart by shouting commands into the Mic. Don’t run out of fuel before crossing the finish line. Controls: Say “Right”, “Left”, “Mushroom” Difficulty: ****/***** Fun Factor: ***/***** Strategies/Tips: You should say left and right to move in the direction of where the oil containers are. You constantly need a supply of these, or your kart will break down. The Mushroom command will give you a burst of speed, but you can only use it once. I recommend using it when you accidentally hit an oil spill, which will drastically slow you down. If you make it about 170 yards without using the Mushroom command, just use it to get the maximum 200.00 yards. Name: Mathemortician Objective: Say a number into the Mic to fire at that square. If you hit a Pink Boo, you’ll earn points. Controls: Say “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, “5”, “6”, “7”, “8”, “9” Difficulty: **/***** Fun Factor: **/***** Strategies/Tips: When a you see a purple flame, that means a Pink Boo is coming out of that line. You should say the number they are in right as they are entering it, not after they are in it. If you do, it will probably miss. If you see a Pink Boo with a crown, hit it as soon as you see it. It is worth missing any other Boos you were about to get, because they are worth 3 points. (More coming soon...) ****************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************** 9.
