If so, it will give you a bonus sponsorship from the start. For me it was a Ping Sponsorship with a $50,000 signing bonus and $500 per item worn. To see what this means, see the sponsorship section below. - Tiger Woods 2002 save files DO count. - Tiger Woods 2001 save files will NOT count. - Other EA Sports Titles from 2003 will not give you a sponsorship, but will give you a cash bonus. - You can reject the bonus if you want to start from scratch. - I haven't played any other EA 2004 titles, so I'm not sure what happens when you boot up after having played Madden 2004 or some other title. - According to 'jurell' from IGN.com message boards, EA 2004 save titles like Madden 04 give you extra cash. He also says that EA 2002 titles of any type will not count. Thanks 'jurell'! - After you see the introductory movies, press the start button to move to the menu. In order to do anything, you'll have to create your golfer first. This mode is the single biggest improvement (or change - whatever your opinion) to the game. See the "Create a Golfer" chapter below on how to do this. - Once you've done this, I recommend you create your "EA Bio". This is the first year they've done this. If you've already played Madden 2004 or NCAA Football 2004, you probably have already done this. - To do this, go to "My Tour". Click on your golfer's name. The first option that comes up is the "EA Bio". Click on it. It will give you a warning on the save file size, and create it for you once you click "OK". - The EA Bio will track your playing time and the 2004 EA Games that you play. This will unlock certain items in the pro shop when you reach a certain EA Bio level. - You'll need to save your EA Bio every time you quit the game to ensure you get credit. You do this by going to "My Tour" again, clicking on the bio, and pressing the save button. - After that, it's up to you which mode you do next. See the chapters below for help! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3) GAME MODES A) Scenarios - These are 30 "challenging" pre-set scenarios that have a pre-set score you need to achieve. Based on your score, you get a Bronze, Silver, or Gold medal. Getting all 30 Gold medals is not easy! Good luck! See Chapter 4 for more details on the scenarios. - You get one scenario right off the bat when you create your golfer. It's the tutorial on how to play called "Tour Card". One free gold medal basically! B) World Tour Mode - This is the mode that used to be called Tiger Challenge in Tiger Woods 2002 and 2003. I think they've done a good job of cleaning this up this year. It gives you lots of flexibility on what you want to do next. - This is match play against various fantasy and real pro golfers. - The one "fault" in this year's mode is that the Tour Cards are not directly tied to your progress as they were in the past. - See Chapter 5 below for more details. C) PGA Tour Season Mode - A much improved full PGA Tour Season that you can play with your created golfer. Each tournament is a 4 day Thursday through Sunday event like the real tour. There are still simulated features to this, such as having a tournament at more than one course, but it's really neat. - See Chapter 6 below for more details. D) Arcade Modes - This is the "fun" stuff. Mostly good for multiplayer fun. There are 4 types including "SkillZone", "Battle Golf", "Speed Golf", and "Long Drive Shootout" modes. - See Chapter 7 below for more details. E) Real Time Events - Possibly one of the coolest features, there are events scheduled to occur on certain dates based on the internal clock of your system. For example, every full moon, there's a special event that you can win. The prizes are usually unlocked items in the pro shop, in addition to cash. - See Chapter 8 below for more details. F) Traditional Games - This is where the multiplayer is at, as well as "normal" golf if you just want to hack around for a while without worrying about a tournament or a World Tour mode. - 8 Modes: stroke, match, skins, practice, stableford, alternate shot, best ball, and fourball. - See Chapter 9 below for more details. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4) SCENARIOS Notes: 1) Scenarios are preset modes. Trophy Balls, Records, Longest Drives, Eagles and everything else DO NOT COUNT while doing scenarios. 2) You only have to get all 30 bronze medals (actually 29 bronze and the 1 automatic gold medal) in order to get the scenario completion trophy ball. 3) Gold Medals do unlock items in the pro shop though, so you do eventually need to get all gold medals to complete everything in the game. 4) Scenarios can be played in any order. The tougher ones tend to be towards the bottom of the list. 5) My recommendation: finish the World Tour first, build up your character, then do the scenarios. It's alot easier to do some of these with a built up character. Scenario List: -------------- 1) Tour Card "Earn your Bronze Tour Card while learning how to play" - Note: this mode is automatic before you can play the game. It'll take your very best to win the gold!" - 4 holes Gold: 14 Silver: 16 Bronze: 19 26) SZ Challenge 2 "The timer's set. Get out to the skillzone and fire away!" - Time limited skillzone challenge. - 90 seconds to start. You can earn extra time by hitting accurate shots. Time to turn the tables and win the match!" - 6 holes. You start 2 down. Bethpage Black course. Gold: 2 UP Silver: 1 UP Bronze: Playoff (you have to win the playoff) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 5) WORLD TOUR MODE - Notes: 1) Match play format - scoring works hole by hole. If you win the hole you go "1 UP". If you lose the hole, you go "1 DOWN". Play continues to the end of the course or until a player is mathematically eliminated. On the final hole before mathematical elimination, the player is considered "DORMIE." That means you have to win all the remaining holes to force a playoff. If you do not, the match ends. The final tally is scored as "X & Y". The X stands for how many holes up you were. The Y stands for how many holes you did not have to play. On an 18 hole course, the best score you can get is a "10 & 8". 2) Round 1 is always the front 9 holes of a course instead of the full 18. 3) The compilation courses are just random holes from the previous three courses in that region. 4) Tiger's Dream 18 is a compilation course. It is NOT Penguin Falls. Penguin Falls was in Tiger Woods 2002 as Tiger's Dream 18. In Tiger Woods 2003, they left that course out. They returned it this year as it's own course. Gamecube owners do NOT have Penguin Falls. Sorry! 5) Trophy Balls can be earned here, as well as records made. Any eagles you make count towards your Eagle Hunt. Some trophy balls cannot be earned in the World Tour, such as Birdie Streak, Birdie Buster, Back to Back Eagles, Low Round, and a few others. Each hole is played independently of each other. 6) When you win a match, you a) win cash, b) you unlock the golfer you played, c) you sometimes unlock one of the holes on Tiger's Dream 18, and d) you some- times unlock certain courses in the game (based on your earnings - see Chapter 11 for the earnings needed to unlock each course). - The prizes I've listed below I can only guarantee if you follow the World Tour "in order". The correct order is to do round 1 through each region in numbered order. Then you do round 2 through each region in numbered order. 7) The rounds without prizes listed are ones I haven't confirmed again yet. Since I didn't write all this down the first time I went throug the game, I'm having to play through again and write down the prizes. - Region 1 - US Northwest - Yellow on the map - Round 1: Poppy Hills - Opponent Val "Sunshine" Summers - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #2 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Sunshine" - Round 2: Sahalee Country Club - Opponent John Daly - Prize $200,000, unlocks hole #8 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 3: Spyglass Hill - Opponent Jim Furyk - Prize: $400,000 - Round 4: Compilation 1 - Opponent Cedric "Ace" Andrews - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Ace", unlocks hole #18 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Region 2 - US Southwest - Purple on the Map - Round 1: TPC Scottsdale - Opponent Felicia "Downtown" Brown - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #3 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Downtown" - Round 2: Pebble Beach - Opponent Rich Beem - Prize $200,000 - Round 3: Torrey Pines - Opponent Notah Begay III - Prize: $400,000, unlocks hole #9 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 4: Compilation 2 - Opponent Melvin "Yosh" Tanigawa - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Yosh", unlocks hole #17 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Region 3 - US East - Orange on the Map - Round 1: Bethpage Black - Opponent Kellie Newman - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #4 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks Newman - Round 2: Bay Hill Club - Opponent Ty Tryon - Prize $200,000 - Round 3: Pinehurst No. 2 - Opponent Charles Howell III - Prize: $400,000, unlocks hole #10 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 4: Compilation 3 - Opponent Dominic "The Don" Donatello - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "The Don" - Region 4 - Europe - Blue on the Map - Round 1: Royal Birkdale - Opponent Justin Rose - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #5 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks Rose - Round 2: St. Andrews - Opponent Colin Montgomerie - Prize: $200,000 - Round 3: The Highlands - Opponent Jesper Parnevik - Prize: $400,000, unlocks hole #11 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 4: Compilation 4 - Opponent Hamish "Mulligan" McGregor - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Mulligan" - Region 5 - Pacific - Red on the Map - Round 1: Princeville Resort - Opponent Edwin "Pops" Masterson - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #6 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Pops" - Round 2: Kapalua Plantation - Opponent Vijay Singh - Prize: $200,000 - Round 3: Emerald Dragon - Opponent Takeharu "Tsunami" Moto - Prize: $400,000, unlocks "Tsunami" - Round 4: Compilation 5 - Opponent Solita Lopez - Prize: $600,000, unlocks Solita Lopez - Region 6 - Southern Hemisphere - Green on the Map - Round 1: Black Rock Cove - Opponent Moa "Big Mo" Ta'a Vatu - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #7 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Big Mo" - Round 2: Wallaby Creek - Opponent Adam Scott - Prize: $200,000, unlocks hole #12 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 3: The Predator - Opponent Retief Goosen - Prize: $400,000 - Round 4: Compilation 6 - Opponent Erika "Ice" Von Severin - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Ice" - "Region 7" - "Round 1": Tiger's Dream 18 - Opponent Sunday Tiger Woods - Prize $1,000,000, unlocks Sunday Tiger Woods, $1,000,000 bonus for World Tour Trophy Ball ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 6) PGA TOUR SEASON MODE Notes: 1) Tournaments are like they are in real life: Thursday through Sunday, 4 rounds each. 2) These are stroke play, meaning that your score is tallied for each hole and made cumulative through the round. 3) Your under par (or over par if you're struggling) score is cumulative through the tournament for leader board purposes. For example, you may be 10 under for the round, but 40 under for the tournament. 4) All trophy balls, records, eagles, etc. count here. This is where you "make your money" so to speak. 5) Sponsorships only count here! This is also where you "make your money". See Chapter 21 for more details on sponsorships. 6) Many of the Tracking Tiger Trophy Balls are based around your tour stats, results, and the like. See the Tracking Tiger section in Chapter 17 for more details. 7) If the tournament has all four rounds played at one location, such as the first tournament at Kapalua, then those tournaments start with the pins in "Easy" location on Day 1, on Day 2 they're in the "Medium" location, on Day 3 "Hard", and on Day 4 "Expert". 8) If the tournament is played at different courses, such as the King's Trail Championship, then the pins are usually at medium or worse difficulty on each day. 9) Each tournament tees off from the black tees "Hard". 10) The purse is cumulative - meaning that the purse is the sum total of all winnings, from first through last. You only win a share of that, even if you win the tournament. You have to make the "cut" in order to be "in the money." If you don't make the cut, then you earn no money. 11) If a tournament starts in one month and ends in the next, it counts towards the later month for "player of the month" standings and the like. 12) The purses vary based upon your performance. I was going to try and figure this out, but it's a little complicated. They do start around $1.5 million purses, and work their way up from there. I've heard that the purses in the second season can approach $9 million for the same tournaments. The AI performance improves, but not drastically so. The best I've seen in the first season, about half way through, is -28 by the AI. If you win the hole, you get to remove one of your opponent's clubs. Continues until one player wins. 2) Skillzone - An accuracy game. There are different "courses" where you try and aim for various bullseyes and other moving targets. The closer you are to the bullseye, the more points you get. - There are bonus balls that give you multipliers. - There are two scenarios that make you play the skillzone. This is the only "mandatory" Arcade Mode in the game. - Five skillzone modes: 1) Target - 20 balls, hit targets for cash 2) target2target - CPU picks the bullseyes, hit for cash 3) Timed - 90 seconds, bonus time for accurate shots 4) Capture - 2 player mode, hit bullseye to lock target, first one to 5 targets wins, you can steal opponents targets before they're locked 5) T-I-G-E-R - similar to H-O-R-S-E. You make a shot. Your opponent has to make the same shot or they get a letter. The first to spell TIGER loses. 3) Speed Golf - "This is NOT your Daddy's golf game." - You have to rush to get it into the hole. Your time counts more than your score, but accuracy helps your time since you don't have to hit the ball as much. - You can play vs. the CPU or vs. another player. 4) Long Drive Shootout - This is a competitive long drive challenge. You try and hit it the farthest you can, while getting close to the white line as you can. - You can get bonus points for hitting the white line. - This is a 2 to 4 player game. - There are 5 "courses" with increasing difficulty. - There are three modes: 1) Total Distance - The total yardage of your drives is tallied. First one to pass the total distance wins. You can set the total distance to 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, or 7000 yards. 2) Total Balls - The total yardage of your drives is tallied. This time you are limited to the number of balls you set from the start. You can set the number of balls to 5, 10, or 15. 3) Longest Drive - The longest drive wins! You can set the number of balls available to 5, 10, or 15. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 8) REAL TIME EVENTS Notes: 1) This is a new mode this year. Based on the internal system clock, there are certain events that pop up on certain days, such as on holidays and player birthdays. 2) The prizes for winning these events, which are like mini-scenarios, include a cash prize (usually around $15,000) and unlocked items in the pro shop. 3) You can "cheat" and change your system clock to play the events you've missed or the events that you have yet to play if you don't want to wait. 4) Since I haven't cheated ahead very far yet, the game won't let me see what's coming in Feb 2004 or beyond. I'll post that as soon as I find out what's there. 5) "Lou" wrote to tell me that the Father's Day and Stuart Appleby's Birthday RTE's are only available in 2005. He also writes that the RTE's end in 2006. 6) Finally, I've had people email me that they have a 76/74 completion. Seems like a glitch to me. You win based on stroke count on each hole. 3) Skins - 2 to 4 players. Instead of strokes, you play for cash on each hole. If no one wins the hole, the skin rolls over to the next hole. 4) Practice - Just like it says. You pick the course, you pick the lie, and you hammer away until you've had enough. 5) Stableford - Instead of scoring, this works off of a point system. -1 for a bogey, 0 for par, 2 for a birdie, 5 for an eagle, 8 for a double eagle. -3 for a double bogey or worse. - Note that this is a modified stableford scoring system. Not standard. 6) Alternate Shot - Two teams of two players compete. Teammates alternate shots until ball is in the hole. Teammates also alternate tee shots. 7) Best Ball - Best individual score for each hole counts as the team score for that hole. 8) Four Ball - Same as best ball, but under a match play scoring system. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 10) CUSTOMIZABLE SOUNDTRACKS (XBox only!) - To do this, you must have "ripped" music to your XBox hard drive using the XBox dashboard. - Then you go to Options in the menu and select customizable soundtracks in the EA Trax menu. It's that easy! - Apparently you can't pick and choose which songs from your XBox hard drive you want to play. But you can choose "Repeat" mode or "Shuffle" mode. You can also deselect all of the EA Trax so that only "your" music is playing during the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 11) ONLINE PLAY (PS2 only!) - If you want to play me online, email me. My online name is BW26. - The first time you logon, you'll first be asked to create an EA Account. This is different than your EA Profile which is what you create next. The profile is basically your screen name. This is what everyone will see when they see you in the lobbies, or play against you. - Then you'll be connected to the servers. First it connects to your ISP, then it authenticates DNAS, then it connects to the servers. - Note: I have had glitches occur before while moving through the menus. One of the scarier ones erased all my settings in both the offline mode and the online mode. Luckily none of my progress in the game was erased. Play online with caution! - Online Menus: 1) Quick Play - Connects you to the current online tournament underway. 2) Online Game Modes a) Match Play b) Stroke Play 1) Game Lobbies 2) Leaderboard 3) Statistics 4) Golfers of the Week c) Online Tournaments 1) Calendar 2) Daily Leaderboards 3) Weekly Money Leaders 4) Golfers of the Week 5) Tournament Winners 3) My Online a) My Game Setup - Set up your default options for when you challenge someone 1) Course 2) Ranked Game (on or off) 3) Shot clock (maximum amount of time each golfer can take with each shot) 4) Holes (all 18, back or front nine) 5) Tees 6) Pins 7) Green Speed 8) Fairway Speed 9) Rough Length b) My Quick Messages - For those without a headset, this is the quickest way to get your messages out c) My Resume - Similar to your resume in offline play, but set up for your online stats. 4) Online Extras - This is EA Sports news and information, including outages and updates - You can also use the EA Messenger here and view the Membership Agreement ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 12) COURSE BY COURSE TIPS Notes: 1) I'm not listing every possible way to play each hole, just the methods that I think work best. If you have a better method, let me know! I'll try it out and possibly include it if it works (and give you credit). 2) For the uninitiated, handicap on each hole is the difficulty compared to the other holes on that course. Thus on each course, HDCP #1 is the hardest hole on the course. In real life, they calculate these based off of average scores handed in to the pro shop. - There's even a scenario labeled "Handicap #1" with nothing but those hard holes! - The transverse is also true: Handicap #18 should be the easiest. - However, in reality, this is somewhat contrived. They actually only use odd or even numbers on the front nine, and the opposite on the back nine. Thus if the hardest hole is actually on the back nine, but the back nine is all "even" numbers, then it will be Handicap #2, even though it's the hardest hole on the course. 3) Postcard hole means the hole that the game shows during the loading scene. In real life, they're sometimes called Signature holes. For example, the #17 at TPC Sawgrass is probably one of the most famous holes in the world. 4) Course difficulty: this is the game's difficulty rating that they give it. I tend to disagree with some of them. But the difficulty does matter on the cash you receive. See Chapter 20 on Tour Cards for how that works. - For example, the Emerald Dragon is considered an easy course. Ha! - For example, the TPC Sawgrass is a medium course. Ha! I tend to get some of my highest scores on that course. 5) I've also included real websites for the real courses that I could find. Those websites are trademarks of their respective owners. Some are very cool. For example, Kapalua's website has animated walkthroughs of several holes, with real footage of the course. This shows you the attention to detail that EA put into each course - magnificent! 6) All information below assumes a fully powered up character (or close to it), and teeing off from the black tees. Thus if I say you can make it over a gorge or something like that, but your character is not powered up, you might want to "lay up" instead. But, if you're playing from the white tees or blue tees, you may wish to be more aggressive than I've shown below. Use caution either way! 7) The following courses are available from the beginning: - Pebble Beach - Torrey Pines - Spyglass Hill - Poppy Hills - St. Andrews - Royal Birkdale - Princeville Resort - Kapalua Plantation - TPC Sawgrass - TPC Scottsdale - Bay Hill Club - Bethpage Black - Sahalee Country Club - Pinehurst No. 2 8) These courses require certain things to unlock them: - Black Rock Cove - $100,000 earnings - The Highlands - $400,000 earnings - Penguin Falls - $750,000 earnings - Wallaby Creek - $1,000,000 earnings - The Predator - $1,500,000 earnings - Emerald Dragon - $2,000,000 earnings - Tiger's Dream 18 - Completing various holes in the World Tour (see Chapter 5) ------------------------------------------------------ --> Pebble Beach (Course Difficulty = Medium) http://www.pebblebeach.com/1.html Par 72, 6,737 yards 1) Par 4, 376 yards, handicap 8 - Use a slice to line up with the green 2) Par 5, 502 yards, handicap 10 - Straight par-5 with a wide fairway 3) Par 4, 374 yards, handicap 12 - Hook it hard to get really close to the green. 4) Par 4, 327 yards, handicap 16 - Driveable, even though it's uphill. Use spin accordingly. 5) Par 3, 187 yards, handicap 14 - Across the water. Green is fairly flat. 6) Par 5, 500 yards, handicap 2 - Split fairways - second shot is uphill. Green slopes to the front. 7) Par 3, 106 yards, handicap 18 - Downhill, but fairly straight forward. Just don't use your power boost. 8) Par 4, 416 yards, handicap 6 - Don't go for far fairway without favorable winds. Otherwise, lay-up. 9) Par 4, 462 yards, handicap 4 - Possible to get long drives here. The ball will roll downhill and to the right. 10) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 7 - Aim left since the ball will roll right. 11) Par 4, 373 yards, handicap 5 - Uphill, but drive away! 12) Par 3, 201 yards, handicap 17 - Long, downhill par-3. 13) Par 4, 393 yards, handicap 9 - Aim right since the ball will roll left. Green slopes to the left. 14) Par 5, 572 yards, handicap 1 - Tough par 5 - need a massive slice off the tee. Green is uphill. You'll need a 1 iron or 5 wood to get there. Green slopes to the front. 15) Par 4, 396 yards, handicap 13 - Driveable with favorable winds. Don't worry about the trees. You'll clear them. 16) Par 4, 401 yards, handicap 11 - Lay up with a fairway wood. 17) Par 3, 178 yards, handicap 15 - Shallow green. Be on your distance or use lots of backspin. 18) Par 5, 543 yards, handicap 3 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Nice wide fairway. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Emerald Dragon (Course Difficulty = Easy - YEAH RIGHT!!) Par 73, 8,264 yards 1) Par 5, 536 yards, handicap 13 - Aim short of bridge. Need another drive to the green which is shallow. 2) Par 4, 533 yards, handicap 3 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Aim for right fairway. You can't reach the left. Green is up hill on a plateau. 3) Par 3, 210 yards, handicap 15 - Very shallow green. 4) Par 4, 476 yards, handicap 5 - Aim left of both bunkers. You'll clear the trees and land in the fairway. 5) Par 4, 444 yards, handicap 7 - Bizarre stepped fairway. Aim for the fairway between the first 2 bunkers. Green is uphill and slopes to the front. 6) Par 5, 677 yards, handicap 11 - Aim for the far fairway. You'll make it. It's a downhill drive again to hit the green. 7) Par 5, 683 yards, handicap 9 - You have to lay up. Twice... Unless you've got gale force winds helping you. Green is uphill. Hardest par 5 to eagle in the game... If you've got a turbo controller, reaching the far fairway is possible, even from the blacks. Then from there, it's a reachable green. Just don't go beyond the green, you will bounce into the water. 8) Par 4, 565 yards, handicap 1 - Aim as close to the gap in the fairways as you can. Green is uphill. 9) Par 3, 206 yards, handicap 17 - Green is downhill. Severe slopes in back corners. 10) Par 4, 422 yards, handicap 6 - Fairway is narrow. Drive out as far as you can to line up. Green slopes away from the center in all directions. 11) Par 5, 698 yards, handicap 14 - Aim over the trees - you'll make it. Long drive to the green. You can use the tree on the front portion to slow the ball down. 12) Par 4, 587 yards, handicap 4 - Fairway is downhill. Aim just right of the big bunker. Long iron to the green. Green slopes harshly at the edges. 13) Par 4, 418 yards, handicap 8 - Lay up right of the bunkers. Gives you a cleaner shot at the elevated plateau green. 14) Par 3, 156 yards, handicap 18 - Coolest hole in the game. The dragon shaped hole. Shallow green that slopes away to the right and left. 15) Par 5, 694 yards, handicap 12 - "Lay up" unless you have lots of wind help. Another long drive to the green. It will be a close one unless you have wind help. Green slopes to the front. 16) Par 4, 367 yards, handicap 2 - Tough bunker in the middle of the fairway. Either lay up or aim right which will put you in a better line with the green. Green is two tiered, slopes to the right front. 17) Par 3, 189 yards, handicap 16 - Green has a "U" shape slope in the middle, but otherwise straight forward. 18) Par 4, 401 yards, handicap 10 - You can make the far fairway. It's downhill. Unless the wind is against you. You can even get a nice roll onto the green. ------------------------------------------------------ --> The Predator (Course Difficulty = Expert - believe it) Par 72, 8,276 yards 1) Par 4, 362 yards, handicap 11 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Possible to drive the green in one, but difficult from the black tees. Green slopes towards the left front. 2) Par 4, 502 yards, handicap 3 - Just lay up. Not worth trying to hook it closer to the hole. I use a 1 Iron off the tee and a 4 Iron to the hole. - Alternate method from "hoowaa" on Gamefaqs.com: - Aim left of the forked tree - try the practice mode for exact location of setup (it's on the up slope of the hill on the left over some rocks I seem to remember). Use 3 wood. Max Boost. Medium slice for righties. Spin Right. 3) Par 3, 209 yards, handicap 7 - Green is about 25 feet downhill. Also has a "false front". If you miss long when the pin is on the front half, the ball will roll away towards the center of the green. 4) Par 5, 749 yards, handicap 15 - This hole is the worst. Handicap 15?!? Yeah right. Toughest hole in the game. Eagling this one is tough... Aim just right of the first tree over the rock. You'll drop in on the fairway. Then it's a matter of threading the needle to the green. You can lay up to the right side and then try for a chip in eagle if you're worried about not making it. I often bogey this hole by being too aggressive and hitting it out of bounds. - Alternate Strategy from "hoowaa" on gamefaqs.com: - Choose a Driver 8-9 degree loft. Use a Punch Shot. Max Boost. Shoot straight (no fade/slice) ahead over the close rocks with forward spin moving your shot just ahead and a touch right of the bunker thats on the left side of the fairway ~350 yds from the black tees. You will have an "easy" 2nd shot at the green every time from here through the trees giving you a shot at Eagle as the green here is a simple one. 5) Par 4, 370 yards, handicap 13 - You'll have to drive it through the gap. If you don't, you can't hit the green. Don't over do the boost or you'll hit the trees and fall short. 6) Par 5, 719 yards, handicap 1 - Long par 5, but reachable, even from the blacks. Bomb it down the fairway on the left side. Then hit another drive to the green. You can bounce the ball or roll it onto the green by aiming right of the green. The fairway and the green slope to the left to funnel the ball into the green. 7) Par 3, 203 yards, handicap 17 - Green is somewhat shallow, but it slopes to the front. Beware too much backspin. I've rolled it right into the water before. 8) Par 4, 448 yards, handicap 9 - I always go left on this hole. Lines you up better with the green. You can drive it through the gap. 9) Par 4, 510 yards, handicap 5 - Aim straight ahead and drop in a drive. You'll get no roll, so don't worry about the traps. Then head straight for the green. You'll miss all the trees. Just remember that the green is 25 feet or so uphill. The green also slopes off heavily to the left front. 10) Par 4, 514 yards, handicap 14 - Go for the far fairway, but aim left so you don't hit the tree. Then the green is 25 feet downhill. Green has multiple slopes. 11) Par 4, 454 yards, handicap 8 - Possible to drive the green in one if you get a bounce off the fallen trees. The fairway is heavily sloped towards the green at the end, so you'll drive it. However, this is risky, so lay up if you think you won't make it. If you miss, it's out of bounds. Green is bowl shaped. 12) Par 5, 676 yards, handicap 18 - This is the shortcut hole. Easiest par-5 hole on the Predator to Eagle. Lay up on purpose. Use a fairway wood and aim just short of bunker on the right. Then turn left and aim over the "low" area in the ruins. You'll hit the green, which is massive. If you get the ball close, it's an eagle. If you don't get close, expect to three putt. 13) Par 4, 421 yards, handicap 4 - Use a fairway wood to hit the second fairway. Don't use too much boost. It's 90 feet downhill. The green is also 10 feet downhill. 14) Par 3, 207 yards, handicap 16 - Green is 165 or so feet downhill! Club down once and take a little off the backswing, or club down twice and use minimal boost. Green is wickedly tri- tiered. Beware backspin! 15) Par 4, 525 yards, handicap 2 - There's a gap in the trees to the right. Even if you hit a tree, you'll drop right in on the fairway. Make sure you use boost! The fairway is wide, so you'll make it. Green is shallow and slopes left. 16) Par 5, 627 yards, handicap 12 - Aim for the gap to the right of the third tree on the left. You will hit the trees, but it will drop down onto the fairway. Then go for the green. You'll probably hit trees again, but make it unless you hit the tree trunk square. 17) Par 3, 222 yards, handicap 6 - Green is shallow and slopes towards the center like a "U". 18) Par 4, 558 yards, handicap 10 - Aim right and long to straighten out the angle to the green. Green slopes towards the middle. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Black Rock Cove (Course Difficulty = Hard) Par 72, 6,926 yards 1) Par 4, 387 yards, handicap 14 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Aim for last fairway on the left if you have a maxed out character and the wind isn't against you. 2) Par 5, 602 yards, handicap 10 - With the wind, go for the fairway on the other side. Otherwise lay up. 3) Par 4, 481 yards, handicap 2 - Aim for the far fairway. Aim left if into the wind. 4) Par 4, 367 yards, handicap 8 - Aim for the upper fairway. Straighter shot at the pin. If you want to risk it, blast it off the rocks on the mountain and hope for a bounce to the green. 5) Par 4, 411 yards, handicap 6 - If not into the wind, go for the far fairway. 6) Par 3, 185 yards, handicap 18 - Club down three times. Adjust for the wind on your boost. 7) Par 4, 420 yards, handicap 16 - Hit a massive hook with a fairway wood or driver. 8) Par 4, 346 yards, handicap 12 - Go for the green in one unless the wind is against you. 9) Par 5, 597 yards, handicap 4 - Go for the left fairway with a fairway wood. If you don't land it in the fairway, lay up. You won't make the green. 10) Par 4, 426 yards, handicap 3 - lay up straight ahead. Aim for the green through the gap in the rocks. 11) Par 3, 181 yards, handicap 7 - straight ahead simple par 3. 12) Par 4, 390 yards, handicap 9 - Reachable green with favorable winds. Or else you can try to hit the rocks to bounce it to the green. But that's risky! 13) Par 5, 538 yards, handicap 5 - Split fairways on this hole. Using the default aim, use your driver and use a massive hook. You'll bounce off the rocks and land on the lower fairway. Massive drives over 400 yards possible. 14) Par 3, 135 yards, handicap 17 - Club down twice and adjust for the wind with the boost you use. 15) Par 4, 418 yards, handicap 11 - Narrow fairway, otherwise straight forward. 16) Par 4, 278 yards, handicap 13 - Reachable in one, but very, very risky. Club down if you go for it. 17) Par 3, 111 yards, handicap 15 - Club up at least once. 18) Par 5, 653 yards, handicap 1 - Aim for right fairway. Beware using power boost at all. Then go for the green with a fairway wood. - Alternate Strategy from "cheech7208" on Gamefaqs.com - From the black tees use a 1 or 2 iron or a high loft wood(7). On the right is a rock wall. Aim at the point where the high part meets the low part. (The farthest black vertical stripe on the wall.) Full red boost or close to it and put a lot of yellow on it(I forget if that's a draw or fade). You'll land on the main fairway on the other side. From there it's an easy uphill chip to the green. You can do this from all tees, but I forget what clubs to use. You'll have to experiment. ------------------------------------------------------ --> The Highlands (Course Difficulty = Expert) Par 72, 8,273 yards 1) Par 4, 544 yards, handicap 11 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Cut the corner as much as the wind will allow you. Green is sloped back and front. 2) Par 5, 663 yards, handicap 3 - Forget about the lighthouse fairway unless you get a lucky rock bounce. Instead focus on two long drives to the green. 3) Par 4, 415 yards, handicap 7 - Aim straight ahead, then go for the green. It's uphill. Either boost or club up. Green is nice and flat for a change. 4) Par 3, 177 yards, handicap 15 - Green is way downhill. I club down twice. Minimal boost (one button press). Green is not flat on this hole, but not too bad. 5) Par 4, 454 yards, handicap 13 - Old tree is in the way, but I've never hit it yet. Green slopes sharply to the left front corner. The AI likes to put the pin right on the edge of that slope. Make sure your putt is either in the hole or short! 6) Par 5, 579 yards, handicap 1 - Lay up just short of the bridge. Then go for the green with a fairway wood. Green is fairly flat. I had a 45 foot "straight in" putt on this hole. 7) Par 4, 460 yards, handicap 17 - Lay up, then go for the green. Not worth risking the sand traps on this hole. 8) Par 4, 476 yards, handicap 9 - Lay up just short of the break in the fairway. Green is bowl shaped. Makes for lots of roll possibility. Green slopes to the back. 9) Par 3, 218 yards, handicap 5 - Sound effects get very loud and annoying on this hole. Pretty straight forward otherwise... 10) Par 4, 443 yards, handicap 14 - Still annoying sound effects... blast across the water with a drive. Go as far right as the wind will allow. Green slopes to the right. 11) Par 5, 647 yards, handicap 8 - Blast away. Try for a bounce off the keeps in the center of the fairway. If you make it, you'll get a massive distance. Either way, you can make the green in two. 12) Par 4, 576 yards, handicap 18 - Aim for the end of the fairway on the right. Watch the columns on your second shot. Green slopes to the right and is shallow. So if you need to aim around a column, go left and roll right into the pin. 13) Par 4, 439 yards, handicap 4 - Better to lay up to the right. Give you a long view of this narrow green. Green slopes away sharply at the edges. 14) Par 4, 532 yards, handicap 16 - Drive it to the left of the sand. Green is fairly flat. 15) Par 3, 200 yards, handicap 2 - Green is on a plateau, but it's level with the tee box. Use backspin to ensure the ball doesn't go over the backside. 16) Par 4, 536 yards, handicap 12 - Aim right for the stonehenge or a little to the left of it. This will line you up with the green which is again narrow like hole number 13. 17) Par 3, 252 yards, handicap 6 - Long, very long, par 3. Not very tough if you can get the ball to hold the green. Green is fairly flat except on the front edge. 18) Par 5, 662 yards, handicap 10 - Tough hole to eagle from the black tees. Have to drive it across the first gorge. You need wind help to do this. Green slopes from back to front and is an elevated "island". Lay up if you don't think you can make it. ------------------------------------------------------ --> St. Andrews (Course Difficulty = Easy) Note: This course is usually very windy http://www.standrews.org.uk/ Par 72, 7,115 yards 1) Par 4, 376 yards, handicap 15 - Easily driveable green. Just watch for the stream short of the green if you come up short. Very flat green for putting. 2) Par 4, 413 yards, handicap 3 - Driveable with favorable winds. Green has slopes, unlike #1. 3) Par 4, 397 yards, handicap 13 - Driveable unless the wind is against you. 4) Par 4, 464 yards, handicap 9 - Aim for the middle of the fairway, which narrows as you go. Tough pin placement will be in the middle of the two bunkers on the figure 8 shaped green. You need to be on your accuracy to make the ball "stick". 5) Par 5, 568 yards, handicap 1 - Fairway narrows in the landing area for your drive. Green is HUGE! It's also relatively flat, so eagle here is not hard (also an easy hole to get your 55+ foot putt trophy ball). 6) Par 4, 412 yards, handicap 11 - Driveable with favorable winds. Green has really severe slopes on the front corner. 7) Par 4, 388 yards, handicap 7 - Easy to fly the green since the green is shallow (but very long in width). 8) Par 3, 175 yards, handicap 17 - Green here is HUGE again. Tough pin spot is right behind the bunker on the front left. Use backspin to make it stick. 9) Par 4, 352 yards, handicap 5 - Easily drivable green. Green is very flat. Too easy for eagle. 10) Par 4, 379 yards, handicap 10 - Another drivable green. This one has slopes to the back and front though. 11) Par 3, 174 yards, handicap 18 - Green is somewhat two tiered. Low front half, high back half. 12) Par 4, 314 yards, handicap 6 - Driveable with a 5 wood even... Green has a severe slope on right hand side. 13) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 12 - Not driveable, but you can reach the far fairway on this hole. Green slopes to the front right. 14) Par 5, 581 yards, handicap 2 - Aim for the end of the first fairway. Green has tough slopes on the edges. Green is in the shape of a sideways figure 8. 15) Par 4, 456 yards, handicap 8 - Tough bunkers in the fairway. Green slopes from the front to back, so if the pin is close to the front, use backspin and be on your distance to make it stick, or it will roll on through the green. 16) Par 4, 424 yards, handicap 14 - Wind will blow you out of bounds here if you're not careful. So aim left! Green is not very sloped. 17) Par 4, 455 yards, handicap 4 - "The Road Hole" - fairway is very narrow. Green is also small. Relatively tough hole for St. Andrews. 18) Par 4, 357 yards, handicap 16 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Wind is usually against you. Makes it non-driveable. Green has brutal slope on the left front. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Penguin Falls (Course Difficulty = Easy) Par 72, 7,360 yards 1) Par 5, 614 yards, handicap 11 - Have to fade around the rocks to land on the third fairway. Long iron to the green. 2) Par 4, 394 yards, handicap 3 - Lay up with a fairway wood. Shallow green. Be on your distance. 3) Par 4, 440 yards, handicap 7 - Lay up to the right fairway. Blast away. 5) Par 4, 397 yards, handicap 13 - Go left with a fairway wood. Lines you up with the green. 6) Par 4, 365 yards, handicap 1 - Drive the green. 7) Par 5, 471 yards, handicap 17 - Go to the small circular fairway to the right. Lines you up for a long iron to the green. 8) Par 4, 423 yards, handicap 9 - Drive up the finger shaped fairway. Green is slightly downhill and sloped from back to front. 9) Par 3, 133 yards, handicap 5 - Green is 158 feet below you. Adjust accordingly! Otherwise just hook around it. 12) Par 3, 165 yards, handicap 18 - Narrow width green. Be on your accuracy to avoid hitting mountain. 13) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 4 - Go right. Lines you up with the green. 14) Par 4, 438 yards, handicap 16 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Aim right of rocks sticking out of fairway. Then hook it. Cool paragliders. 5) Par 4, 453 yards, handicap 11 - Long hole, green slopes to the front. 6) Par 5, 560 yards, handicap 9 - Trees are in the way here. Green slopes to the center. 17) Par 4, 442 yards, handicap 4 - Straight forward hole. 18) Par 5, 571 yards, handicap 10 - The only tough part is clearing the water on the second shot. Use more boost than you think you need. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Spyglass Hill (Course Difficulty = Hard) http://www.pebblebeach.com/1.html Par 72, 6,862 yards 1) Par 5, 595 yards, handicap 3 - Use a massive hook to line up with the fairway. I've had a 412 yard drive on this hole. Club up going to the green. I won't insult your intelligence. 4) Par 4, 360 yards, handicap 10 - Don't use your power boost. Green drops off to the left. 5) Par 4, 454 yards, handicap 4 - Aim at the bend in the fairway. Leaves an easy wedge to the green. 6) Par 4, 381 yards, handicap 14 - No power boost again. 7) Par 4, 439 yards, handicap 2 - Aim for the middle of the narrowed part of the fairway. 8) Par 3, 215 yards, handicap 8 - Slightly downhill, but long. 9) Par 5, 582 yards, handicap 6 - Aim for the end of the first fairway - stay to the right. 1 Iron over the trees. Use backspin to stop it on the green. 10) Par 4, 395 yards, handicap 11 - Lay up with the fairway wood. From closer tees you can hook it to the far fairway. 11) Par 5, 529 yards, handicap 7 - Aim just right of the Oak Tree. Green has a rescue fairway to the left, so aim to the left to ensure you make it. 12) Par 4, 336 yards, handicap 15 - Lay up with the fairway wood. Short wedge to the green. 13) Par 3, 172 yards, handicap 17 - Aim right if pin is close to the water. Green has lots of slopes... 14) Par 4, 438 yards, handicap 3 - Fairway really narrows with S turn in it. You'll make it though if you aim past the first bend. 15) Par 4, 426 yards, handicap 5 - Another lay up hole. Green slopes on the right. 16) Par 5, 497 yards, handicap 9 - Use a draw. Green is fairly flat. 17) Par 3, 132 yards, handicap 13 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Quite possibly the most famous hole in the world. It's all about the distance. 18) Par 4, 440 yards, handicap 1 - Around the water hole - pretty straight forward. Just don't be left! ------------------------------------------------------ --> TPC Scottsdale (Course Difficulty = Easy) http://www.tpc.com/daily/scottsdale Par 71, 7,089 yards 1) Par 4, 410 yards, handicap 14 - You can't reach the far fairway without wind help or a full powerup. 2) Par 4, 416 yards, handicap 8 - I've gotten nice bounces off the cart path in the fairway before. Easy hole. 3) Par 5, 554 yards, handicap 4 - Bombs away on the first shot. Green is narrow, but not too bad. 4) Par 3, 175 yards, handicap 18 - Easy par 3. 5) Par 4, 453 yards, handicap 6 - Straight, long par 4. 6) Par 4, 409 yards, handicap 12 - Aim for the base of the green - you'll clear the trees. 7) Par 3, 215 yards, handicap 16 - Long par 3 - green slopes to the front. 8) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 2 - Long par 4 - but nothing to it. 9) Par 4, 448 yards, handicap 10 - Green drops off on the backside - easy hole. 10) Par 4, 403 yards, handicap 11 Aim straight for the green, then adjust slightly right. You'll clear the trees and hit the green in one. 11) Par 4, 469 yards, handicap 1 - Straight, long, easy hole. 12) Par 3, 195 yards, handicap 15 - Green is 15 to 20 feet downhill. 13) Par 5, 595 yards, handicap 5 - Default aim here is stupid - aim right. Hole is long enough without going left. 14) Par 4, 444 yards, handicap 7 - Aim straight for the green. 15) Par 5, 501 yards, handicap 9 - Aim just left in the narrow fairway area. Then ensure you have enough club to cross the water to the green. 16) Par 3, 162 yards, handicap 17 - Easy par 3. 17) Par 4, 332 yards, handicap 13 - Easily driveable par 4. Only tricky part is not overdriving the hole, or when the pin is in the back left in the narrow green portion. Just be on your aim and distance. 18) Par 4, 438 yards, handicap 3 - Aim straight over bunker at the end of the water. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Royal Birkdale (Course Difficulty = Easy) Note: This is usually a windy course. http://www.royalbirkdale.com/ Par 71, 7,018 yards 1) Par 4, 448 yards, handicap 11 - Blast it past the dogleg 2) Par 4, 421 yards, handicap 3 - Watch bunker in the middle of the fairway 3) Par 4, 407 yards, handicap 7 - If you hit it long, or the wind is behind you, watch out for the S curve in the fairway at the end. 4) Par 3, 203 yards, handicap 15 - club up or down according to the wind 5) Par 4, 344 yards, handicap 13 (POSTCARD HOLE) - cut the corner to drive the green in one - or slice to the green. 6) Par 5, 480 yards, handicap 1 - Dogleg right - use a slice or cut the corner 7) Par 3, 177 yards, handicap 17 - Straight-forward hole 8) Par 4, 457 yards, handicap 9 - Just watch the wind. Another straight-forward hole. 9) Par 4, 411 yards, handicap 5 - Ignore the default aim - cut the corner - dogleg right. 10) Par 4, 403 yards, handicap 14 - drive it in one. You'll clear the trees and the hill. 11) Par 4, 408 yards, handicap 8 - Drive it in one again. You'll clear everything. But you can't make it if the wind is against you. 12) Par 3, 183 yards, handicap 18 - club up or down according to the wind 13) Par 4, 498 yards, handicap 4 - Aim for middle of two sandtraps in the fairway. 14) Par 3, 198 yards, handicap 16 - Easy hole, club up or down according to the wind 15) Par 5, 544 yards, handicap 2 - Very long, straight par 5. Blast away. 16) Par 4, 416 yards, handicap 12 - Just avoid the fairway bunkers. They'll suck you in since they're sloped. 17) Par 5, 547 yards, handicap 6 - Another long par 5 - Bomb's away. 18) Par 4, 472 yards, handicap 10 - Watch the fairway bunker. Wind can push you in it. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Bay Hill Club (Course Difficulty = Easy) http://www.bayhill.com/ Par 72, 7,204 yards 1) Par 4, 441 yards, handicap 3 - Use a slight hook while driving. 2) Par 3, 218 yards, handicap 11 - Downhill green - slopes to the left and right on the sides. 3) Par 4, 395 yards, handicap 5 - With favorable winds you can drive it in one. Otherwise lay up around water. 4) Par 5, 530 yards, handicap 15 - Maybe use a slight draw. Green is large. 5) Par 4, 384 yards, handicap 13 - Have to lay-up with a fairway wood. 6) Par 5, 543 yards, handicap 9 - Possible green-in-one par 5. Need favorable winds. 7) Par 3, 197 yards, handicap 17 - Straight forward par-3. 8) Par 4, 459 yards, handicap 7 - Aim just over the left edge of trees. 9) Par 4, 467 yards, handicap 1 - Use a draw off the tee to line up with the fairway. 10) Par 4, 400 yards, handicap 12 - Use a fade to line up with the fairway. Green slopes to the left front slightly. 11) Par 4, 428 yards, handicap 2 - Fairway narrows closer to the green. Straight forward otherwise. 12) Par 5, 570 yards, handicap 10 - Long par 5 - aim just over the tree. Long iron or fairway wood to green. 13) Par 4, 364 yards, handicap 6 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Have to lay up. Take something off the backswing to ensure you're not in the rough. 14) Par 3, 206 yards, handicap 16 - Long par 3 - straight forward though. 15) Par 4, 425 yards, handicap 8 - Use a fade off the tee. 16) Par 5, 517 yards, handicap 18 - "Bay Hill" hole - Green is sloped towards the water. 17) Par 3, 219 yards, handicap 14 - Even longer par 3. 18) Par 4, 441 yards, handicap 4 - This is Tiger's hole (see the video in the EA Extras mode). Green slopes heavily towards the water. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Tiger's Dream 18 (Course Difficulty is listed as Hard, but only because Spyglass Hill is the last hole in the course) Par 72, 7,380 yards Note: No handicaps on these holes Note: Glitch - all of your scores on this course go towards your Spyglass Hill records (because Spyglass Hill is the last hole in this course). 1) Par 4, 416 yards - Pebble Beach #8 2) Par 4, 441 yards - Bay Hill #18 3) Par 3, 132 yards - TPC Sawgrass #17 4) Par 4, 466 yards - Pinehurst #8 5) Par 3, 106 yards - Pebble Beach #7 6) Par 4, 455 yards - St. Andrews #17 7) Par 4, 476 yards - Emerald Dragon #4 8) Par 4, 357 yards - St. Andrews #18 9) Par 3, 207 yards - Predator #14 10) Par 3, 218 yards - Highlands #9 11) Par 5, 543 yards - Pebble Beach #18 12) Par 4, 449 yards - Pinehurst #2 13) Par 4, 499 yards - Bethpage Black #12 14) Par 5, 663 yards - Kapalua #18 15) Par 5, 555 yards - Wallaby #18 16) Par 4, 483 yards - Pinehurst #5 17) Par 5, 544 yards - Sahalee #11 18) Par 4, 370 yards - Spyglass #4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 13) THE PRO SHOP 1) The Pro Shop is the another major addition to this year's game. 2) There are various equipment, apparel, accessories, and animations that can be purchased and collected with your hard earned cash. 3) Most items have an attribute modifier ranging from 1 "dot" to 4 "dots". The more dots the better. Some even have modifiers in two different attribute categories. - These modifiers have the effect of increasing your attributes. - You must wear a 4 "dot" item to have the full 4 "dot" effect to your attributes. They are not cumulative! For example, you can't wear two 2 "dot" items to get a 4 "dot" modifier. - In addition, if you are wearing or equipping a 4 "dot" item in one category, such as luck, then the rest of the items you are wearing or equipping in that category have no impact whatsoever. They are just for show. For example, it doesn't help you to wear ten 4 "dot" luck modifier items. Your luck will still just be modified by 4 "dots". 4) You have to have 4 dot modifiers in each category to get your attributes to the 110% max. 5) Every day, and sometimes more than once a day, you get new items on sale in the "featured" items category. This is critical near the beginning of the game when your cash is in short supply. All the on sale items are half price. Thus $200,000 items are only $100,000! A huge savings! --> I'm not going to list the pro shop items as they literally number in the hundreds. If I get the time I might. However, I don't have to anymore...
