Darkest Dungeon Backer Heroes
Select the Stagecoach in the Hamlet, then press [Enter]. Type the names of backer heroes trinket to summon it.
New Game+ mode
Successfully complete all the Darkest Dungeon quests and defeat the final Boss to unlock New Game+ mode. This mode has locked “strict” options and monsters that have increased difficulty. You also must complete the Darkest Dungeon quests in under 91 weeks, with less than 13 Hero deaths.
Easy “Caretaker” achievement
Caretaker Goals awarded for completing Darkest Dungeon location missions do not qualify. You must complete the Boss and Max Resolve Level goals.
Easy “On The Old Road, We Found Redemption” achievement
Start the final quests with Dismas and Reynauld from the tutorial. It is not necessary to keep them alive.
Easy “Sentimental Relics From Our Forefathers…” achievement
Collect all 14 Ancestral Trinkets:
- Ancestor’s pen
- Ancestor’s map
- Ancestor’s lantern
- Ancestor’s pistol
- Ancestor’s bottle
- Ancestor’s signet ring
- Ancestor’s scroll
- Ancestor’s musket ball
- Ancestor’s coat
- Ancestor’s portrait
- Ancestor’s tentacle idol
- Ancestor’s handkerchief
- Ancestor’s candle
- Ancestor’s moustache cream
Most of them are available as rewards after long champion level dungeons (intended for heroes that are at least Level 5). The map, bottle, tentacle idol, and candle can only be obtained by defeating The Shambler, a very difficult enemy. He has the same drop rate for rewards on lower levels. Try fighting him in apprentice dungeons if possible. He appears after you place a torch on a curio named “Shambler’s Altar”. He can also randomly appear as a corridor fight, which is more likely with low torchlight.
Steam achievements
Successfully complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding achievement. To view your achievements and stats in Steam, select “Community”, “My profile”, “View all my games”, then the game and view stats.

- A veritable crowd…: Have one of each class on your roster.
- And our training begins…: Upgrade a Combat skill.
- And we slew the abominations that haunteth…: Defeat 100 Unholy enemies.
- And we slew the beasts that creepeth…: Defeat 100 Beast enemies.
- And we slew the evils that lurketh…: Defeat 100 Eldritch enemies.
- And we slew the men who were wicked…: Defeat 100 Human enemies.
- Blocked from life…: Lose a hero to an obstacle.
- Caretaker: Complete all Caretaker Goals.
- Darkest sentinels…: Raise 4 heroes to Resolve Level 6.
- Discretion, my old friend…: Abandon a quest.
- Driven from this land…: Kill all bosses.
- Dysfunction: Kill any boss with a party of four afflicted heroes.
- Encouragement…: Lock a positive Quirk in the Sanitarium.
- Gnawing hunger sets in…: Lose a hero to hunger.
- Greater riches were never witnessed…: Collect at least 20,000 gold from a single quest.
- In Sheep’s Clothing: Defeat the brigand Vvulf.
- In such haste…: Complete the game within 99 Weeks.
- It takes more than brawn…: Learn a new Camping skill.
- I’ve seen every corner of this ruined land…: Complete a quest in all four regions.
- Like lambs to the slaughter…: Start a Darkest Dungeon quest with four heroes of resolve level 0.
- Lone survivor: Kill any boss with only one hero remaining.
- More blood soaks the soil…: Party wipe on a boss.
- More than a weary traveler…: Walk 500 steps with one hero.
- No retreat, no quarter…: First party wipe.
- On the old road, we found redemption.: Dismas and Reynauld Made it to the final Darkest Dungeon Quest.
- Only masterful technique will suffice in battle…: Fully upgrade at least four of a hero’s skills.
- Only the finest equipment will endure this torment…: Fully upgrade a hero’s weapons and armor.
- Our equipment polished to a mirror finish…: Fully upgrade the Blacksmith.
- Our techniques sharpened to a razor’s edge…: Fully upgrade the Guild.
- Our victories are mounting…: Complete 10 quests.
- Restored to its former glory…: Fully upgrade the Town.
- Sentimental relics from our forefathers…: Acquire all your Ancestor’s Trinkets.
- Strict Mode: Complete the game with default difficulty options.

- The abbey my Ancestor once knew…: Fully upgrade the Abbey.
- The end of the first year…: Reach week 52.
- The fiends must be driven back…: Slay 1000 enemies.

- The first of many victories…: Complete a quest.
- The price we pay for sanity…: Remove a Quirk in the Sanitarium.
- The stresses were unbearable…: Lose your first hero to heart attack.

- Twisted and about to break: Complete a dungeon with all 4 heroes afflicted.
- Two years of this…: Reach week 104.
- Valiant sacrifice…: Lose all four heroes on a Darkest Dungeon quest.
- Victory, such as it is…: Complete the game.
- Watch your step…: Lose a hero to a trap.
- We all return to dust…: Lose a Legendary (Level 6) hero.
- We are victorious, but at what cost…: Complete 25 quests.
- We return to the worms of the earth…: Lose a hero to a Maggot.
- Weeding out the weak…: Dismiss your first hero.
- Welcome home…: Reach the Estate.
- What is already Dead Cannot Die: Have a character survive 5 attacks at Death’s Door in a single combat.
- World End: Complete the game on NG+.
