Legal Stuff =============================================================================== 1. Introduction =============================================================================== This is a short little FAQ for the Battlefield 1942 expansion, Secret Weapons of World War II. It's only a FAQ for Secret Weapons, and NOT one for the original Battlefield 1942 or Road to Rome. It just covers what's new in this expansion and nothing from the original. Secret Weapons is an expansion, not a stand alone game. You will need to have the original Battlefield 1942 installed before installing the Secret Weapons. If you don't, too bad. =============================================================================== 2. The Maps =============================================================================== This section lists all eight of the new maps in the expansion, gives a detailed description of each one, lists how many captureable outposts are on the map, tells you which forces are fighting each other and lists the map type. It also lists the objective mode objectives and describes how the map is different from conquest mode when on objective mode. The map types are as follows: Conquest - Assault: One side controls most, if not all, of the captureable outposts at the start of the map. The side that has to capture them loses tickets until they capture a certain number of the outposts. That team can't make the other team lose tickets by holding outposts unless they have all of them and kill all of that sides players, resulting in an instant victory. Conquest - Head-on: There are two versions of this map type, either its A) Each side starts with half of the outposts on the map, all of which can be captured. One side makes the other lose tickets by controlling more than half of the outposts on the map. If one side controls all of the outposts and kills all of the players on the other side, they instantly win. Or it is B) Each side starts with a main base that can not be captured and has to capture more than half of the outposts on the map to make the other side start to lose tickets. Conquest - Hybrid: Each side starts with some outposts that can be captured, but there are also some outposts that start out neutral. When one side has more than half of the outposts the other side will start to lose tickets. If one side holds all of the outposts and kills all of the players on the other side, they will instantly win. ------------- Eagles's Nest ------------- Forces: Germans vs. Americans Map type: Conquest - Hybrid Outposts: 6 Objective mode objective: Destroy the door to the loading bay, destroy the safe Description: The Germans have three outposts on a big hill on this map and the Americans have their three outposts on the ground below the hill. There is essentially one road that goes through the map and on each end is a main outpost. Each of these main outposts spawn lots of vehicles while the others don't spawn many. The main American outpost, Berchtesgaden, is on the east side of the map by a few houses. Many tanks spawn here along with APCs and jeeps. A road leads away from this base and to the northwest is the next American outpost, the Toll Booth. The only vehicle that spawns here is a motorcycle. Further along the road to the east is the last American outpost, Gaestehaus. This outpost is in a very small village and the only vehicle that spawns here is an APC. The main German outpost, the Eagle's Nest, is right next to the Eagle's Nest on top of the mountain. By it some tanks and some jeeps spawn. A road leads down from here, goes through a tunnel and then takes you to the next outpost, the Tunnel Entrance. The road continues south past here and goes by a spot where there is a tank, jeep, motorcycle and a repair station. The road continues south, over a bridge to the next outpost, Goeringhaus. This outpost is in a fenced in area by a house and spawns an APC. Between this outpost and the next American outpost there is a mini-base that has a repair station, two APCs and artillery outside of it. Objective mode: The Eagle's Nest and Tunnel Entrance outposts the Germans normally have on this map are combined to make one uncaptureable outpost by the Tunnel Entrance. No vehicles spawn by the Eagle's Nest, they all spawn by the area by the Tunnel Entrance. In addition to what normally spawns here, there is one extra tank. The Americans have an uncaptureable base at Gaestehaus and in addition to the APC that normally spawns there, there is a tank and two motorcycles. The Americans also have their other two outposts, but not as many vehicles spawn at them. Like the Americans still have those other bases, the Germans still have the outpost at Goeringhaus. The mini-base that is by that outpost spawns a Sturmtiger in addition to the vehicles it normally spawns. The door to the loading bay that has to be destroyed in this map is on the side of the Eagle's Next. This door leads to the basement where the safe you have to destroy is, but there is also a side entrance into the basement so the door doesn't have to be destroyed to get to the safe. ----- Essen ----- Forces: Germans vs. British Map type: Conquest - Assault Outposts: 4 Objective mode objective: Destroy the three fuel silos Description: On this map the British start with an uncaptureable base to the east and the Germans start with four captureable bases in Essen. At the British base there is a C47, a AW52, two Spitfires and a LVT4. There are lots of fields to the east and then there is a river. On the other side of this river is Essen. In each corner of Essen there is a flak gun. The bridges crossing this river are broken, so the Germans have a tough time getting to the British base if they want to steal a vehicle. There are three outposts in Essen itself. The first one, The Inn, is right by the river, on the middle of the three streets that run through the town. A tank spawns by this control point. There is a jetpack sitting on the floor of the 3rd floor of the building that says 'Wilder Eber' on the signs outside of it, right by the outpost. The next outpost, The Market Square, is in the middle of the town on the southern road through it. A tank and a motorcycle spawn here. The last outpost in town, The Cafe, is in the northwest corner of the town. A motorcycle spawns here and there is a jetpack on the 3rd floor of the building right next to the flag. To the west there is a river with one bridge crossing it. On the other side of that river is the last outpost, The Factory. This outpost is right next to a factory. Here there are some machine guns, three tank spawns, a flak gun, a Wasserfall Rocket and a jetpack in the bunker by the bridge. Objective mode: The only thing that is changed when you play this map is objective mode is that the control point at the factory cannot be captured. All the other control points and the vehicle spawns are the same. The three fuel silos that the Allies have to destroy in this map are located inside the factories at the German base. ----------- Gothic Line ----------- Forces: Germans vs. Americans Map type: Conquest - Head-on Outposts: 3 Objective mode objective: N/A Description: On this map the Germans start at the top of a hill at an uncaptureable base while the Americans start at an uncaptureable base at the bottom of the hill. The Americans get a T95, Sherman T34 and two jeeps at their base while the Germans get two Sturmtigers, a Panzer, artillery to defend their base and a defgun looking down the hill. The first outpost, the Base Camp is just up the road from the American base. There are a few bunkers to defend it that are pointed towards the American base. Once this base is captured it will spawn a tank. Further up the road is the next outpost, The Bridge. There are two bunkers which have artillery in front of them here that face towards the approach the Americans will have to take to this base. Once captured this base spawns a T95 or a Sturmtiger. Past this base there is a bridge with a defgun pointed to the base on the other side. The last base, The Village, is in (You guessed it), a village. There is one machine gun here and two tanks spawn once it has been captured. Objective mode: This map does not support objective mode. ----------- Hellendoorn ----------- Forces: Germans vs. British Map type: Conquest - Hybrid Outposts: 7 Objective mode objective: Destroy the four V2 rockets Description: On this map the British have three outposts on the north side of the map and the Germans have three outposts on the south side. There is a body of water in the shape of a C that is on the western side of the map and another small body of water between the eastern British and German bases, making the only way to get from one side to the other via land is over the hill in the middle of the map. The British outpost in the northwest, the Western Village, and the German outpost in the southeast, The Blockhouse, each have an airfield that spawns either a Natter or Goblin, two tanks and one or two jeeps. The German outpost on the south side of the map, the V2 Launch Site, and the British base on the north side of the map, the Water Mill, both have a couple of machine guns at them and spawn an amphibious vehicle. The only other two bases that start as captures, the Eastern Blockhouse in the northeast corner for the Allies and the V2 Research Site in the southwest corner for the Axis, each have a machine gun and spawn some tanks, amphibious craft, and motorcycles. The Allies get a jeep at these and the Axis get a flakpanzer when they capture these. On top of the hill in the middle of the map in the middle of a small town is the last outpost, Hellendoorn. In the building next to the flag there is a building with two jetpacks on the top floor. Objective mode: Instead of all of the outposts being captureable, the British have an uncaptureable outpost at the Eastern Blockhouse and the Germans have two uncaptureable outposts, the V2 Research Site and the V2 Launch Site. The vehicle spawns are the same except that the flakpanzer only spawns at the V2 launch site, and there are two of them. The four V2 rockets that have to be destroyed are located by the V2 Launch Site outpost. -------------- Kbely Airfield -------------- Forces: Germans vs. British Map type: Conquest - Assault Outposts: 4 Objective mode objective: Destroy the two aircraft in the airfield hangars Description: On this map the British start with an uncaptureable base on the south side of a river. On the north side of that river there are three outposts and then the airfield, which also has an outpost. At the British base there are some flak guns, artillery, APCs, motorcycles and a Sherman. A road leads north from the base, goes over a bridge and then takes you to the first outpost, The Toll Booth. This outpost spawns a motorcycle. A road leads east that goes to the next to outposts, the Central House and the Eastern House. North of these two outposts is the fourth outpost, Kbely Airfield. The airfield is circled by a fence and there are only two ways in. One is along the road that leads north from the Central House. There is a gate and tank obstacles blocking vehicles from coming in through here and only infantry can use it. The other way in is on the eastern side of the base via a road that comes from the Eastern House. There are lots of tank obstacles around this road, but a vehicle can still make it. Inside of the airfield is the usual stuff for a big base, flak guns, a hospital, plus motorcycles, an APC and a tank. Two HO229s also spawn here (Even if the base is held by the Allies) at the end of the runways. In one of the back rooms of the hangars here spawns a jetpack. Credit goes to Phillip Hallam for finding it there. Objective mode: For objective mode the vehicle placement is the same as conquest. The vehicles may be the same, but the outposts aren't. Instead of Kbely Airfield being captureable, it isn't. The three smaller outposts along the road are no longer under German control from the start, they are neutral. The two aircraft that you have to destroy are the things in the hangars at the airfield. One hangar is right behind where the HO229s spawn and one is just to the south of by where they spawn. ----------- Mimoyecques ----------- Forces: Germans vs. Americans Map type: Conquest - Assault Outposts: 5 Objective mode objective: Destroy the three vents at the V3 complex Description: In the middle of this map there is a large body of water. On the north side is the main American base, which is uncaptureable. To the south are the five captureable outposts, all of which are held by the Germans. At the American base there is a C47, Goblin, AW52 and four LCVPs to get everyone across the water. In addition to that, there are also flak guns. On the German side there are two outposts by the water. To the east is The Farmer's Field. Here is there is a small runway that spawns a HO229 or AW52, a repair station that spawns a tank, some motorcycles and a flak gun. Over to the west is the Port Village. Here there is a flak gun, some machine guns and a motorcycle. A road leads from each of these outposts and they connect to a road that leads south, to the other control points. By that junction in the road is the next outpost, Mimoyecques. Here spawns a Sturmtiger or T95 and two motorcycles. The road continues south, over a bridge and up a hill. On top of this hill is another outpost, the Axis Airfield. This airfield spawns a HO229 or AW52 plus has artillery, a machine gun and a flak gun to defend it. Even further up the hill is the last outpost, the V3 Research Site. Near it two tanks and a motorcycle spawn, right next to a repair station. Around the outpost itself there are some bunkers with machine guns by some trenches that go around the flag. Off to the east there is a Wasserfall Rocket. Objective mode: Vehicle placement here is the same, except that the planes at the American base spawn in different spots than conquest. The AW52 spawns where the C47 spawned in conquest, the C47 spawns where the Goblin spawned and the Goblin spawns in the hangar behind where the AW52 spawned. The Port Village, Farmer's Field and Mimoyecques outposts are still captureable, but now the Axis Airfield and V3 Complex ones are combined to make one uncaptureable one. ---------- Peenemunde ---------- Forces: Germans vs. Americans Map type: Conquest - Head-on Outposts: 3 Objective mode objective: N/A Description: This map takes place on five islands of varying sizes. Each team has their own (Uncaptureable) base on a small island and each outpost is on another island. The American base, which is the southeastern island, spawns a T95, a Sherman T34, some LVT4s, a motorcycle and a Commando Raft. In addition to those there are two flak guns. The German base, which is on the northeastern island, there are two Natters, a HO229, a Schwimmwagen, a motorcycle, a flak gun and a machine gun. There is a bridge on the west side of each of those islands that leads to a large island. The bridge from the American base leads to an island with a village and a small airfield. Inside of the village is the Southern Airfield outpost. When the Allies capture this base two Goblins and a AW52 will spawn at the airfield, when the Axis captures it only a tank spawns. On the other side of the bridge the leads away from the Axis base is a flak gun and the Hotel outpost. No vehicles spawn here when the Allies hold this outpost, but three tanks spawn when the Axis hold it. To the south there is a bridge that connects this island with the one with the Southern Airfield outpost. By that bridge there are two machine guns and a flak gun next to a bunker. Near that there are bridges that lead to the island with the last outpost on it. On this island there is a church and a village by the flag for the outpost, Island. When captured a jeep and a tank spawn here. Off on the east side of the island there is a Wasserfall Rocket. Objective mode: This map does not support objective mode. ---------------------- Telemark Research Base ---------------------- Forces: Germans vs. British Map type: Conquest - Hybrid Outposts: 7 Objective mode objective: Destroy the two generators inside Telemark Description: Run down the middle of the map from the north to the south is a large river. In the middle of it there is a lake. On the west side of the river and lake there are three outposts controlled by the British. On the east side of the river and lake there are three outposts controlled by the Germans. In the middle of the lake there is a neutral outpost. The northern most outpost, which is on the west side of the river and controlled by the Allies, is the Allied Airfield. Here a C47, two Spitfires, two jeeps and a LVT4 spawn. There is also a machine gun here. To the south of this outpost is a bridge that crosses in the river, except it has been destroyed and can't be used. Further south is the next outpost, the Western Town. Here a tank, Schwimmwagen and LVT4 spawn. Down by the water, a Commando Raft spawns. A bit further south is the last Allied outpost, the Bridge Entrance. Here spawns a tank, a jeep and a motorcycle. This outpost is right next to a bridge that crosses the river. On the other side of the river is an Axis outpost, the Bridge Toll Booth. Next to this outpost a jeep and two motorcycles spawn. To the south of this bridge and these two outposts there is another bridge, but there are no outposts or vehicles near it. Directly to the east of the Bridge Toll booth is the main outpost, the Telemark Research Base. Here there are jeeps, tanks, flak guns, machine guns and even a defgun. To the north of that is the last Axis outpost, the Telemark residence. In this village there are some tanks, jeeps and a motorcycle. The last outpost is in the middle of the lake a starts off neutral. It's on an island and called the Island outpost. A couple of Schimmwagens spawn here, there is a flak gun, a machine gun pointing north and a Commando Raft will spawn if this outpost is held by the Allies. Objective mode: All of the vehicle spawns are the same in objective mode for this map. The Allied Airfield becomes uncaptureable and is the main Allied base while the Telemark Research Base becomes uncaptureable and is the main Axis base. The other five outposts are controlled by the Germans at the start of the game. The two generators that have to be destroyed are inside of the building by the flag for the Telemark outpost. =============================================================================== 3. Vehicles =============================================================================== ********************************** 3.1 - Allied Vehicles ********************************** ---- AT25 ---- Type: Stationary artillery Shells: 30 Description: The Pak40 isn't really new to Secret Weapons, it was also in Road to Rome. It serves as artillery that is much like the defgun, except that it has less ammo and has a smaller range of motion. ---- AW52 ---- Type: Bomber/Attacker Missiles: 32 (4 at a time) Bombs: 16 (2 at a time) Extra gun positions: None Description: The AW52 is one of the new jet aircraft in this expansion. Instead of having a machine gun and bombs, like the aircraft in the original Battlefield 1942, it has bombs and missiles. The missiles fire straight from the aircraft and up to four can be fired at once. The combination of bombs and missiles make this plane very useful against all types of ground forces. One thing to note about this plane is that it has a rather unique design. It is essentially one very large wing with a cockpit in the middle. The wingspan is so large that you have to be very careful not to hit anything when you are near the ground. ------------- Commando Raft ------------- Type: Transport ship Extra gun positions: 1 (Machine gunner) Secondary gun position ammunition: 500 Description: This is like a smaller version of the LCVP. It has one person driving it, one forward machine gunner and can fit two people to transport. It can only move in the water. --- C47 --- Type: Cargo plane Extra gun positions: 1 (Door gunner) Secondary gun position ammunition: 500 Description: This plane acts as a mobile spawn point. Any Allied players on a map with this plane can spawn inside of it, as long as the plane isn't full and hasn't been destroyed. The plane can fit a pilot, a door gunner who can rotate his machine gun to fire out of the doors on either side of the plane and four people sitting inside of the plane. If the plane is destroyed, it will quickly respawn at it's original location. ------ Goblin ------ Type: Fighter Gun bullets: 999 Extra gun positions: None Description: The Goblin is another one of the new Allied aircraft. It is very fast and very small, making it difficult to destroy. It's main gun, a machine gun, is different from all of the other machine guns in the game. It fires four shots at once, so anything hit by it will be destroyed very quickly. ---- LVT4 ---- Type: Amphibious transport Extra gun positions: 2 (Machine gunners) Secondary gun position ammunition: 500 Description: This vehicle is a combination of the LCVP (Landing craft) from the original Battlefield and the APCs. It spawns on land and goes over land just fine, but you can also take it in the water and use it like a landing craft. The first position in this vehicle is the driver and position two and three are the gunners. Both machine guns are on the front of the vehicle and can only aim to the sides a little bit. The second position is on the front left and the third is on the front right. In addition to those there is also a fourth and fifth position. Both of these are transport spots. Like in an APC, the people in these transport spots slowly get healed. ----------- Sherman T34 ----------- Type: Tank Shells: 30 Machine gun bullets: 400 Extra gun positions: 1 (T34) Secondary gun position ammunition: 30 Description: The Sherman T34 is the same as the normal Sherman, except it has the huge T34 rocket launcher on top of it. Instead of the person in the second gun position having a machine gun, they have this rocket launcher. This rocket launcher is very similar to the one on the Stalin's Organ in Battlefield, except it has more rockets. --- T95 --- Type: Anti-tank vehicle Shells: 30 Extra gun positions: 1 (Machine gunner) Secondary gun position ammunition: 500 Description: Like the Sturmtiger, this vehicle is mainly used to destroy tanks, along with other vehicles that don't pose as much of a threat. Unlike the Sturmtiger, it's barrel of it's gun is HUGE. In addition to that, the body of the vehicle is also huge. On top of it there is a position for a machine gunner. ---- XA42 ---- Type: Motorcycle Extra gun positions: 1 (Sidecar machine gunner) Secondary gun ammunition: 500 Description: The XA42 is new the Allied motorcycle. Essentially the same as a jeep, but smaller and has a machine gun. The machine gun that the person in the secondary position can only hit things in front of and or a bit to the right of the motorcycle. ********************************** 3.2 - Axis Vehicles ********************************** ---------- Flakpanzer ---------- Type: Mobile anti-aircraft tank Gun bullets: 400 Extra gun positions: 1 (Flak gunner) Secondary gun ammunition: 300 Description: The Flakpanzer is essentially a flak gun placed on top of a tank. The person in the tank's first position has a machine gun to use and can drive tank (Although the tank has no turret so something has to be directly in front of the tank to be hit by the machine gun) and the person in the second position controls the flak gun. The flak gun has a full range of motion, like a normal flak gun. The flak gun on this tank fires a bit faster than that of a normal flak gun, but it can overheat. ----- HO229 ----- Type: Fighter/Attacker Gun bullets: 400 Missiles: 30 (2 at a time) Extra gun positions: None Descriptions: One of the new aircraft for the Axis. Like most aircraft in the game, this one has a gun for a primary weapon. In addition to that it also has missiles that can be fired straight ahead of the aircraft. ------ Natter ------ Type: Attacker Missiles: 24 Extra gun positions: None Description: The Natter is the only plane in the game that doesn't take off from a runway, like a normal plane. Instead it is launched off of a long rail. Once you get in it it will start it launch and you will not be able to stop it. Once it is in the air it isn't there forever. It has a fuel gauge next to it's health bar and once that runs out, the plane will start to glide until and then will fall to the ground. The only weapon the Natter has is it's missiles. It has 32 and can fire one right after another. ----- Pak40 ----- Type: Stationary artillery Shells: 30 Description: The Pak40 isn't really new to Secret Weapons, it was also in Road to Rome. It serves as artillery that is much like the defgun, except that it has less ammo and has a smaller range of motion. --- R75 --- Type: Motorcycle Extra gun positions: 1 (Sidecar machine gunner) Secondary gun ammunition: 500 Description: The R75 is new the Axis motorcycle. Essentially the same as a jeep, but smaller and has a machine gun. The machine gun that the person in the secondary position can only hit things in front of and or a bit to the right of the motorcycle. ------------ Schwimmwagen ------------ Type: Amphibious Jeep Extra gun positions: 1 (Machine gunner) Secondary gun ammunition: 500 Description: The Schwimmwagen is like a normal jeep, except it has a machine gun and can go in the water, like the LVT4. The secondary machine gun is like that on the motorcycles, it can fire ahead and a little bit to the right of the vehicle. ---------- Sturmtiger ---------- Type: Anti-tank vehicle Shells: 15 Extra gun positions: None Description: The Sturmtiger is the anti-tank vehicle for the axis. While it's gun my look comical, it is very powerful and can destroy a tank, or any other vehicle for that matter, very easily. While the gun may be powerful, you can barely turn it to the sides and can aim up or down only a little bit easier. Because of that, it's best to stay away from infantry and best to engage tanks from far away. ----------------- Wasserfall Rocket ----------------- Type: Guided rocket Rockets: Unlimited (1 at a time) Extra gun positions: None Description: You can take control of this rocket by entering the bunker you control it from. You can tell which bunker it is because it has one of the rockets right on top of the bunker. Once you enter the bunker you can fire a rocket. At first the rocket will be pointing straight up before launch, but you can move the rail the rocket launches off of so that it is facing any direction and is only at a slight upwards angle. Once you fire the rocket you will have full control over it. You can take it anywhere on the map and can either make it explode by crashing into something or by pressing the alt-fire button. Note that like the Natter, the rocket has a fuel gauge next to it's health bar (Yes, it can be damaged). If it runs out of fuel it will glide for awhile and then eventually drop to the ground. =============================================================================== 4. Other New Features =============================================================================== ********************************** 4.1 - Objective Mode ********************************** Objective mode is the new game mode that comes with this expansion. Six out of the eight new maps support it. In this mode the Allies act as attackers and the Axis as defenders. There are multiple objects in the map for the Allies to destroy. When they damage these the Axis lose tickets. If all of these objects are destroyed, the Axis loses all of their tickets. This mode can be played like Conquest, but only if everyone ignores the objectives and only captures outposts. ********************************** 4.2 - New Weapons ********************************** In this expansion there are a total of six new weapons for infantry. Note that these new weapons aren't always used, on some maps the default weapons are used. --------------- Throwing Knives --------------- Every class gets these on maps that support them. Each person gets a total of five. They are in the same weapon slot as normal knives and when you press the secondary fire button you use one like a normal knife. The primary fire buttons throws one. If you run out of these, you can't use the normal melee knife unless you go to an ammo crate to get more knives. Throwing the knives at someone does about as much damage as would be done if you walked up to them and slashed them. ---------- Mauser K98 ---------- This weapon is a grenade launcher. Only Axis engineers get it, and when they get it it replaces ExpPacks. You fire a grenade from the rifle and it explodes after a set amount of time. It will bounce off of walls and will slide across the ground before exploding. You get 5 extra grenades with this. ------- Shotgun ------- The shotgun is only used by Allied engineers. This shotgun can hold six shells at once and you have four extra sets of six shells to reload. ---- Sten ---- This is a new submachine gun for Allies medics. It holds 30 rounds, comes with 4 extra magazines and is very quiet. ------------- Gewehr 43 ZF4 ------------- This weapon is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that Axis scouts get on some maps. It only holds five rounds and comes with 2 extra magazines, but you can fire more rapidly than with the other sniper rifles because it is semi-automatic. ------------------------- Fallschirmjager Gewehr 42 ------------------------- This is a new weapons for the Axis assault class. It holds 30 rounds and comes with four extra magazines. ********************************** 4.3 - The Jetpack ********************************** The jetpack only appears in three maps, Kbely Airfield, Essen and Hellendoorn. Credit goes to Phillip Hallam for telling me that it is in Kbely Airfield. The jetpack is lying on the ground and you pick it up the same way you would pick up a kit that was left over from somebody who died. Once you pick it up you will have the special jetpack kit and not the one you picked before. This kit comes with the jetpack, knife, submachine gun, pistol and grenades. When you have this kit you do not have a parachute. You use the jetpack by jumping, when you jump you get a boost from it. Next to your health bar there is a gauge for the jetpack like what machine guns have. If you use it too much, it will overheat and you will have to wait for it to cool down. =============================================================================== 5.
