Sony
Computer Entertainment America, or SCEA, attempted
to push the gaming envelope back in 2004, by mixing
voice recognition into video games. The messy result
was a title called Lifeline. In Lifeline, every
piece of action or navigation was all controlled
by what you told the game's AI. Speaking all of
your commands seemed pretty nifty at first, until
frustration began to settle in. There were plenty
of times where the game's AI could not understand
what you were trying to say so no action was taken.
SCEA wouldn't stay down for long however. They have
since dusted themselves off, preparing to take another
leap into video game innovation.
Enter Eyedentify. Eyedentify is the byproduct of
the PS2 USB Headset having it's way with the PS2
EyeToy, and of course SCEA exploiting the poor child.
In other words, your voice isn't just part of the
game, you yourself are. And there's no need to worry
about flailing your arms like a man on fire in order
to use the EyeToy in this game.
From
what we know so far, Eyedentify revolves around
3 operatives. There are the two sexy anime chicks
in provocative clothing, and you. Lucky. We also
know that you will be able to interact with the
two girls, we just don't know how just yet. One
really cool aspect of the game is that when the
girls are out on the field, unfortunately you're
the lonely remote operative, they will contact you
with some comlinks, and a hologram with your face
will pop up during game play. Hey, since I can't
be a movie star I might as well get in on the games
right?
There isn't a whole lot of information out on the
game right now, other than the fact that you do
become a star of the game. Exactly what kind of
control your vocal and facial expressions will have
will become questions waiting very eagerly to be
answered.
