You have to give Sega and Sonic Team some credit. They're first PS3 title isn't Sonic, Shinobi, Phantasy Star Online or even, thank god, a next gen version of the diabetic coma inducing colorform world of Alex Kidd. It's an original title called Fifth Phantom Saga.

From all intents and purposes the game will be a FPS, but if we know Sonic Team - and we don't personally - we believe there will be a few cool "hooks" to the gameplay we haven't seen before.

The first of those "hooks" being that floating funky phantom dude that appears in all of the screens. Since the main character doesn't appear to be blasting a cap in his ass in each shot, we can assume that you'll also be controlling this bizarre creature in some way. Maybe like some interactive cursor. Or not.

In any event, it's fresh and while we don't know if it's all that exciting, we will remain hopeful simply due on the strength of Sonic Teams unending pursuit of innovative gaming.
