Sony
loves nothing more than to drop the jaws of gamers
and it was mission accomplished when they unveiled
the next evolution of Gran Turismo. If the proof
is in the pudding, we can't say that we've played
this one, but the visuals look absolutely stunning.
If you want to walk around in a coma for most of
the day, be sure to view the huge high res screenshots
of the game below. They will blow your mind. Unbelieavable.
The visuals are so slick, Sony actually implemented the kids running across the street scene from Spider-Man 2, with footage of Visual Gran Turismo. Instead of a truck baring down on the kids, it was the cars from Gran Turismo. Wonderfully delicious.
Watching the Sony presentation from E3, it became immediately apparent that Sony wanted to excite gamers and car enthusiasts alike when they blew the lid off Vision Gran Turismo, in the same way they did when unveiling the PS2 and debuted Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec footage. GT lovers will be blown away to discover that Polyphany Digital is upping the ante in regards to amount of cars on the track. With the added horsepower of the Cell, the PS3 looks like it will be able to handle incredibly detailed vehicles and quite possibly 16+ on a track at one time.
Another jawdropper was the pit area which was teeming with intelligent life. All of the individual crewmembers were completely autonomous and looked to be acting of their own accord when a vehicle pulled in.
One detail we couldn't discern from the footage is whether the vehicles will register realtime damage, something the series has shied from in the past. We've heard rumblings that this is to be an integral feature in the new game, so we'll have to keep you posted.
