Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Crash Bandicoot

“Fumbling In The Dark” bonus level

Get the key from the Cortex Bonus Round in Jaws Of Darkness to unlock the “Fumbling In The Dark” bonus level.

“Whole Hog” bonus level

Get the key from the Cortex Bonus Round in Sunset Vista to unlock the “Whole Hog” bonus level.

Replay Boss battle

While going to another warp room, hold Triangle.

Alternate ending

Jump across the Great Hall once you have all of the gems to view an alternate ending.

Colored gems

Get a “Perfect” rating on the indicated level to unlock a special colored gem. To get a “Perfect” rating, successfully complete a level with all crates smashed and no lives lost. Levels not listed below give you normal clear gems.

Blue Gem: Perfect on Toxic Waste
Green Gem: Perfect on The Lost City
Orange Gem: Perfect on Generator Room
Purple Gem: Perfect on Lights Out
Red Gem: Perfect on Slippery Climb
Yellow Gem: Perfect on The Lab

Infinite lives

First, unlock the Green gem by destroying all boxes without dying in “The Lost City” level. You are allowed to die in the two bonus levels of The Lost City. With the Green gem, go to the “Castle Machinery” level. It is on Island 3, at the end of the game. Jump on the Green gem platform at the start of the level to get 29 lives. Pause the game, select “Quit”, then reload the auto save to make all 29 lives respawn. Load the “Castle Machinery” level again, jump on the green platform to get another 29 lives, quit out, reload auto save, and repeat as many times as desired. This is by far the quickest way to get 99 lives (takes approximately three minutes), but it requires a lot of game progress.

To farm lives early in the game, go to “The Lost City” level, near the start of Island 2. You can find bats spawning infinitely. Stand in their spawn and press X + Square to kill them repeatedly. They respawn after a few seconds and always drop fruit. Every 100 pieces of fruit give one life. You earn roughly 10 lives every 6 minutes. It is a slower method but a good way to get lives early in the game.

Using the auto save reload makes the lives respawn in all levels. Use this trick to farm lives in the first level. Keep collecting the lives and fruit in any level, quit, and reload the auto save.

Getting more than 99 lives

Get 99 lives, then enter a level. Collect 99 wumpa fruit, then leave the level. The game will give you one more wumpa fruit once you return to the map/warp room, and increase your lives by one. Repeat this as many times as desired to keep getting additional lives above 99. Note: This glitch was performed on v1.01 of the game. It may eventually get patched. To avoid not being able to use this exploit, either do not install new patches before using this exploit or delete the patches.

Easy masks

Repeat the first level to easily find masks.

Clearing obstacles

On levels such as “Road To Nowhere”, you can jump onto the ropes on the side and easily clear most of the obstacles. To keep from falling off the rope, you need to jump forward repeatedly on the rope.

Defeating Papu Papu

When you arrive, Papu Papu will be sleeping. You will have two Aku Akus. He will spin his club. When this happens, go on his seat to dodge it. He will then bring the club up to hit you. Dodge that as well. Then, jump on his head. Repeat the above steps twice to defeat Papu Papu.

All boxes and gem in “Stormy Ascent” level (“Lost Treasures” DLC)

The “Stormy Ascent” level is part of the “Lost Treasures” DLC that can be downloaded for free from the PlayStation Store. It adds the “Stormy Ascent” level on the third island of Crash Bandicoot . You must have played through the main game to access it. You will then see a purple glowing dot on top of the tower of the third island (above the “Lab” level). This is where you start Stormy Ascent. The gem is unlocked by destroying all boxes. There is one bonus level that contains 22 boxes. The rest of the boxes are easy to find since they are in plain sight. Destroy all boxes to get the gem and “The Crown Jewel” trophy. Note: The level is fairly challenging; thus, it is recommended to have a lot of lives before starting it.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Revisit Boss stages

Stand on the middle platform of a warp room. Then, hold L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 + Triangle and press Up when Crash points up or down. Note: You only can return to Bosses you have previously encountered.

Bonus voodoo mask

After losing a life, hold Up + Circle until Crash moves again. Alternatively, while in a warp tunnel, press X(2), then hold X + Up. Release the buttons when Crash receives a voodoo mask after the next life is lost.

Faster Crash Bandicoot

Press L3 and R3 rapidly and Crash will become a little bit short and faster.

Secret exit locations

Go to the indicated location in the listed level to find a secret exit:

Level 7: Air Crash (Warp Room 2): Shortly after the start of the level, you are supposed to use a surfboard in a water section. Do not jump on the surfboard (first surfboard of the level). Instead, look for a stone platform on the right side of the water. Jump on the floating crates to get to the stone platform to instantly complete the level and count as a secret exit to get the “Jumping The Jetboard” trophy. It may take a few tries to do the jumps perfectly, but at least it is very early in the level so you can get there quickly if you lost all lives.

Level 13: Bear Down (Warp Room 3): You will be riding a polar bear in this level. At the very end of the level, the bear will throw you over a pool of water to the exit. With your back facing the exit, look for some platforms in the pool of water. Quickly jump over those platforms to the hidden exit on the other end of the pool to get the “Island Hopping” trophy. Be careful, as the platforms will disappear after 2-3 seconds — so you need to jump fast.

Level 15: Unbearable (Warp Room 3): At the end of the level, you will be riding a polar bear while a bigger bear is chasing after you. Once the small bear throws you off his back, you will be standing in front of the level exit. Turn around and slide-jump back the way you came. Press Circle to slide and X to jump. You must time it perfectly to jump right off the edge. It can be a tricky jump to make. The small polar bear will be sitting on the ground. Touch the bear to tigger the secret exit and get the “No Bear Left Behind” trophy.

Level 16: Hangin’ Out (Warp Room 4): After dropping through the second hole in the level, you will be in a room with bright blue water (can walk in it) and a checkpoint crate. After activating the checkpoint, turn around and walk through the pool of water until you reach the end of the area. There is another hole in the ground. Drop through it to be in a room with lava and drones. Get past the drones to automatically land in the secret exit and get the “Hang In There, Maybe!” trophy.

Level 17: Diggin’ It (Warp Room 4): After the death route rejoins with the default path, you will reach a pit with two plants firing projectiles at you. Jump on the enemy plant that is on the little platform in the middle of the pit. Perform a body slam (press Circle mid-air) to kill it and instantly trigger the secret exit and get “The Flora Flop” trophy.

Alternate ending

Successfully complete the game with a 100% completion (all gems and collectibles) to view an alternate ending sequence.

Skip introduction

At the start of the game, Coco will ask Crash to go find batteries for her low powered laptop. To skip this level in a new game, you must skip the intermission sequence where N.Gin is first introduced by pressing X immediately after the opening sequence. Once this is done, the level after that intermission sequence will be skipped and you will advance directly to the Warp Room.

Return to Warp Room a different way

While in a level, press Start, then press Select to return to the Warp Room.

All colored gem locations

Search the indicated locations to find all five colored gems (Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, Purple). Collect all colored gems to get the “Laser Powered Vengence” trophy.

Blue Gem – Turtle Woods (Warp Room 1): Complete the level without breaking any boxes. In the area with the two boxes stacked together, jump on the one with the metal bars because it does not break from a single jump,.

Red Gem – Snow Go (Warp Room 1): First, find the secret exit in the “Air Crash” level by jumping over the floating crates at the second checkpoint to reach a platform in the water to teleport to the warp room in the basement. Then, go through the portal to reach the “Snow Go” level with the red gem. Note: Starting the “Snow Go” level from Warp Room 1 does not work. It has to be through the portal in the basement, which only unlocks after finding the secret exit in the “Air Crash” level.

Green Gem – The Eel Deal (Warp Room 2): Approximately 40 seconds into the level, the path splits. Take the right path into the room with lots of nitro boxes. There is a fake wall at the end of the room that you can walk through that leads to a secret route with the green gem at the end of it.

Yellow Gem – Plant Food (Warp Room 3): Speedrun the level before time runs out to get it. The timer starts after the second checkpoint.

Purple Gem: Bee-having (Warp Room 4): About halfway through the level, you see some nitro boxes stacked together that look like stairs. Jump on the nitro boxes, and they will warp you to a secret route. Complete the route to get the gem.

Clear gem

Successfully complete all levels and smash all boxes. At the end, instead of showing how many boxes you missed, will be a clear gem.

Infinite lives

At the first checkpoint box in the “Bee-Having” level (Warp Room 4), before an electric trap, you can find a bee-hive. Stand in front of the hive. When the bees spawn, slide-attack (Square + Circle) into the hive to instantly kill the bees. It takes a little bit of practice to get the timing down. When all the bees die, you get an extra life. The bees keep respawning infinitely every few seconds. Thus, you can farm 99 lives within 7 minutes. Even if you die, the checkpoint is just a few steps away.

Extra lives

In the second warp room (level 6-10), jump on the baby polar bear’s head to collect ten extra lives.

After defeating the first master, you will see a dog on the second world. Go to it and press Circle repeatedly to get a lot of lives.

Extra items

Find an arrow box and jump on it 200 – 299 times, and then jump on top of an enemy to get an extra crystals. Jump on it 300 – 399 times, and then jump on top of an enemy to get extra gems. This trick allows you to get a total of 64 crystals and gems.

Extra time in race levels

In the levels where you must race against a clock for a gem (“Hang Eight” and “Plant Food”), it is possible to get more time. While the clock is running, enter the bonus area. As soon as you are there, purposely fail by jumping off the side of a platform. When you respawn in the level, the clock will have restarted with even more time than in the beginning of the race.

Boss stages

The following is a list of bosses which you must face after collecting all the crystals from a Warp Room in order to proceed to the next:

    Warp Room 1: Ripper Roo
Warp Room 2: Komodo Brothers (Komodo Joe and Komodo Moe)
Warp Room 3: Tiny the Tiger
Warp Room 4: Dr. N. Gin
    Warp Room 5: Dr. Cortex

All Gold/Platinum relic time trials

There are 27 total relics. Each level has one relic. After completing a level for the first time, you can find a stopwatch at the start. Collect it to trigger the timer. The faster you finish the level, the better the value of the relic. There are three relic types: Sapphire (slow), Gold (fast), and Platinum (fastest). For the “Wumpa-Burner Engaged!” trophy, you only need the gold relics. It is also highly recommended that you first complete the game to unlock the speed shoes, which make you run much faster. Without them, it is impossible to get a gold relic in some of the levels.

Easy “Cortex N. Furiated” trophy

This can only be done during a new game before collecting your first crystal. Each level requires you to find a crystal for Cortex, and once you do so he no longer gets angry. At the title screen, start a new game. You can keep all existing save games; simply select the “Disable Auto Save” option and nothing will be lost. In the first warp room, start and quit any level three times in a row. Once the level is loaded, press the Options button to pause and select “Quit” to immediately end the level without having to make any progress. Each time you do this, Cortex will remind you of the crystals that you must find for him. He will get angrier each time. After quitting three levels (can be the same level each time), you will get the “Cortex N. Furiated” trophy. Note: Do not complete a level or pick up a purple crystal. After collecting the first crystals, you cannot get the trophy any longer and must start a new game again to get it.

Trophies

Successfully complete one of the following tasks to get a trophy:

The N. Credible Crash Bandicoot! (Platinum): Collect all the Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back trophies.
99 Percent Perspiration (Gold): Earn 99 Lives
Boom Shakalaka! (Gold): Defeat 5 enemies with Coco’s Double Leg Drop.
Cortex N. Adequate (Gold): Defeat N. Cortex.
Laser Powered Vengence (Gold): Earn 42 Gems.
One Man’s Trash (Gold): Earn 21 Gems.
Wumpa-Burner Engaged! (Gold): Earn 27 Relics (gold or better).

A Helping Paw (Bronze): Don’t feel guilty about jumping on him.
Buzz Off! (Bronze): Die as Crash.
Cortex N. Furiated (Bronze): Just “forget” it. Repeatedly.

Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

Debug menu

At the Naughty Dog logo, hold Up + X until the title screen appears. Hold Left and press Square, Circle, Square, Start. While playing the game, pause and press Down, X(26), Down. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear the sound of a snort and the game will resume. Press Select to display a debug menu.

Secret warp room

Find all 25 crystals, then fight and defeat Cortex. After the credits, go to the gem in the center of the main room (with Coco and the load/save screen). Step on it to be taken to another warp room with five extra levels.

Secret exit in “Dino Might!” level

To reach the secret exit in Level 11: Dino Might! (Warp Room 3) and get the “Getting Carried Away” trophy, complete the following steps:

    1. Earn any 10 relics (Sapphire, Gold, or Platinum). Relics are rewards for beating best times in speedruns. After completing a level for the first time, you can pick up a stopwatch at the start of the level and do the speedrun. Getting 10 relics unlocks Level 27 in the secret warp room. While in the center of the warp area (from where you select levels), stand on the orange button in the middle to be taken to the basement where Level 27 can be started.

    2. Play Level 27: Hang’ Em High, collect the yellow gem at the end, and complete the level. You will walk right into the gem at the end.

    3. Play Level 11: Dino Might! (Warp Room 3). Approximately one minute into the level, before the dinosaur egg, you can activate the yellow gem path. This is why the yellow gem is needed — without it you only see the outlines of the platform and cannot activate it.

    4. The secret exit is found on this yellow gem path. Keep playing until the big dinosaur chases after you. At the start of the dinosaur chase, there are two pterodactyls (flying dinosaurs) sitting on tree trunks. Jump onto the second one to trigger the secret exit and get the trophy.

Secret exit in “Road Crash” level

Play Level 14: Road Crash (Warp Room 3). You will be driving a motorcycle in this level. At the start of the level, drive slowly and stick to the left side of the road. On the left side is a yellow road sign with a black alien head on it. Knock over the sign with your motorcycle to trigger the secret exit and get the “UFO Xing” trophy.

105% completion

Collect all relics and gems, including those from the Hot Coco and Eggipus Rex bonus levels. The relics that are collected must be at least gold or platinum. Then, approach Crash’s sister, next to the save spot, to find another clear gem. Take the gem to view a nice fireworks display and finish with a 105% completion status.

Alternate credits screen

Collect all crystals, relics, and gems to gain a 48% completion and a new credits screen featuring Cortex and Tropy fighting over Uka Uka as babies will be unlocked.

Skip intermission sequence

To skip any intermission sequence before levels or Bosses, press Triangle while they are speaking.

Start with all power-ups

After completing the game, wait at the title screen for the demo to start. Shortly before the game shows the demo of Bye Bye Blimps, begin holding Triangle. After the demo begins, you will be in control of Coco. Then, pause and exit the level to appear in the middle of the warp room (as if you had began a new game) with all the power ups. Note: If you complete Bye Bye Blimps, you will be ejected in the fourth warp room, but the force field in front of the hallway will still be in place, trapping you there.

Getting 100% completion

Collect all the gems and crystals, then defeat Dr. Neo Cortex. Get the Crash Dash ability, then use Crash Dash to collect all the relics and complete the secret levels. Remember to get the crystals, gems, and relics from the secret levels.

Infinite lives

In Level 3: Orient Express (unlocked from the beginning), you can earn six lives per run. Five are from boxes and in the towers, one is from collecting 100 wumpa fruit (pretty much unmissable). After finding the fifth life in the last tower, pause the game and quit. Reload the auto save to make all lives respawn. It makes an auto save when you quit the level and keeps all your lives. Repeat this process as many times as desired. Remember to always quit the level and then reload the auto save. You can keep collecting the same lives over and over again. Each run takes approximately 110 seconds with loading times (55 seconds of that is gameplay). You will earn 99 lives in approximately 30 minutes.

Easy lives

If you are running low on lives, repeat the first level as many times as desired. Also play the Toad Village, Orient Express, and Midnight Run levels. These levels contains lots of lives, especially Orient Express where you can get five at the minimum.

When you defeat N. Tropy, you will get the ability go with Tiny Tiger. When the lions appear, kill multiple ones in a row using the ability to get an extra life. Repeat this as many times as desired.

In the second room, where the white bear is sitting, body slam him five to ten times to eventually get ten extra lives.

Extra high jump

When you already accessed the higher jump from the first Boss, you can do a higher jump by holding R2 + X or Circle + X. You should jump slightly higher. Note: This is very useful when getting the five extra lives by jumping over the yellow gem ride.

Hold Circle or L1 and press X, then X again when in mid-air. You will jump slightly higher because Crash crouches before his jump. Note: You cannot run and do this because you will slide.

Speed boost

On any Motorcycle level, when you hit a speed booster, hold X. You will still have the boost and will be popping a wheelie for as long as X is held. Note: It will be hard to turn and the boost and wheelie will end if you either release X or go over a jump.

While playing with the tiger, press Square for the tiger to go extra fast. This is especially useful when trying to get extra lives off the hot air balloons that are in the air.

View status

To view how many items (relics, powers, gems, etc.) you have collected, press Triangle while the game is paused to advance to the next status page.

All colored gem locations

Search the indicated locations to find all five colored gems (Red, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow). Colored gems reveal optional gem paths in some levels that are otherwise inaccessible. Collect all colored gems to get the “Bringing Down The House” trophy.

Red – Level 12: Deep Trouble: Use the “!” exclamation point box at the end of the level to start a secret course. Collect the gem during the secret course.

Purple – Level 13: High Time: Found on the death route (must get there without losing a life).

Blue – Level 20: Tomb Wader: Found on the death route (must get there without losing a life).

Green – Level 23: Flaming Passion: Found on the death route (must get there without losing a life).

Yellow – Level 27: Hang ‘Em High: It is found on the main path at the end of Level 27: Hang ‘Em High. To access the level, you must earn 10 relics by doing speedruns (after completing a level you can pick up a stopwatch at the start; get a best time to earn a relic). Once you have 10 relics, step on the orange dot in the middle of the central warp room (where you select levels). It will lead to a secret sixth warp room in the basement. You can then start Level 27. You will walk into the gem at the end of this level, as it is basically in your way and hard to miss.

All Gold/Platinum relic time trials

There are 30 total relics. Each level has one relic. After completing a level for the first time, you can find a stopwatch at the start. Collect it to trigger the timer. The faster you finish the level, the better the value of the relic. There are three relic types: Sapphire (slow), Gold (fast), and Platinum (fastest). For the “Boo-yah, Grandma! Boo-yah!” trophy, you only need the gold relics. It is also highly recommended that you first defeat all story bosses. They drop very useful abilities that allow you go much faster (for example, double jump and sprint).

Easy “Accept No Substitutes” trophy

First, get a 104% game completion by collecting all crystals, gems, and gold relics, including the relics and gems in the two bonus levels. So basically, get all other trophies to reach 104%. Once you are at 104% completion, defeat the final Boss again to get a secret ending and achieve 105% game completion. A fake Crash Bandicoot will then spawn in three levels. For example, he spawns in Level 1: Toad Village. Approximately halfway through the level, he can be seen dancing on the right side (outside the map, in front of a house). Shoot him with the Bazooka to get the “Accept No Substitutes” trophy.

Easy “The Riddle Of The Sphynx” trophy

First, unlock the Fruit Bazooka by defeating Dr. N. Gin in Warp Room 4 (he is the fourth Boss). He will automatically drop it once defeated. Once you have the bazooka, play Level 9: Tomb Time (Warp Room 2). At the start of the level, you see a sphynx in front of you. Shoot the side of the sphynx (left or right, when the aim marker turns red) to get an extra life and “The Riddle Of The Sphynx” trophy.

Easy “Trigger Clickin’ Good” trophy

First, unlock the Fruit Bazooka by defeating Dr. N. Gin in Warp Room 4 (he is the fourth Boss). He will automatically drop it once defeated. Once you have the bazooka, replay Level 1: Toad Village. At the start of the level, there is a white chicken. Shoot it with the bazooka, then let the nearby goat kill you to respawn at the start. Kill the chicken again and let the goat kill you. Repeat this process five times on the same chicken to get the “Trigger Clickin’ Good” trophy. Note: Other enemies do not count for it. You must shoot the chicken.

Easy “Your Moment Of Zen” trophy

Play Level 9: Tomb Time. Early in the level, you will reach four jars with a monkey sticking his head out and throwing balls at you. Evade everything he throws at you. After one minute, he will stop throwing balls. Then, destroy the four jars to see the ghost of the monkey flying away and get the “Your Moment Of Zen” trophy. Note: Do not destroy the jars before the monkey stops throwing the balls at you.
