Sony's
new PSP is more than just a system to play games and
as we start to learn more that is becoming more apparent.
Case in point Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. This
will be a full-length CGI movie and released on the
new UMD disc format. It's still unknown if this will
be an exclusive title to the PSP or not since there
was already plans to release this to DVD. While we
cannot confirm or deny the reports we can show you
some great screen shots taken from the full-length
movie.
Sony
has made it clear they want the PSP to be more than
a handheld game machine. They also want it to be a
multimedia and entertainment center all in one. According
to the details we have on the PSP right now the PSP
battery will last about 2.5 hours when used to watch
movies. It would make sense since the PSP will be
able to produce great HDTV like images with no skipping
or pauses to read the data on the UMD disc. For the
die-hard fans of the FF series this maybe exciting
news and Sony is trying very hard to promote the movie
as well. It has been showcased at several film festivals
which is definitely a first for any gaming system.
This
is not a game and as far as we know there are no interactive
aspects. Just pop in the disc and watch the movie.
However, there have been rumors of a new Final Fantasy
title in the works for the PSP that will be a role-playing
game and as soon as we can confirm this and get the
details we will write a preview. It may be a great
option for those on a long trip or to entertain the
kids. It certainly looks better than the current GBA
movie carts from Majesco. Take a look at the screen
shots and decide for yourself.
