SONY PSP PREVIEW: YS: THE ARK OF NAPISHTIM

I loved the Turbo Graphics version of the two first games of the Y's series. The game featured the story of a young boy named Adol and his adventures. The thing that made Y's (Pronounced Ee's the Y is silent?) was the fact the game had characters that would speak to you rather than having to read the long speeches and clues written in text form. Of course Y's book I & II packaged into one duel disc set had the power of a CD-Rom and threw in things never before seen on a home console.

Besides the great and unique speech and voice acting the game also had one of the best cinematic movies I have ever seen. Y's has been a huge hit in Japan and still has a loyal following. Now it looks like Konami and a Developer to be named later is bringing the next chapter of the series to the PSP system.

Adol is growing up after all this is his sixth or seventh adventure depending on who is counting. While he will seem more mature as well as the over all theme of the game do not expect to hear Adol speak. Sort of a staple of the series Adol has never had a voice added so you could hear his voice. The screen shots from the early build of this game is impressive and almost hard to believe that they are from a hand held version. Konami also has plans for the release of the game for the PS2 however; no date has been given for this version yet. The game will follow the story of Adol searching for the 3 powerful swords. Of course Adol maybe older but still has a few things to learn.

The game seems to have the look and feel of a mix of old and new RPG's. We will have more details and features of the game later. Take the time to look at these great screen shots. If this is any sign of what the PSP is capable of doing this may be a system to watch out for.
