------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Battle System [RacoBat] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just like in any other oldskool RPG, the battle system in Song of the Ocean is turn based. The difference however, is that after you've attacked the enemies with, say a melee attack, your character will not move back to his or her original position. If the target enemy is far away, your character might not even be able to attack in one turn at all. It's important to not use melee attacks on enemies that are far away, and it can also be wise to target the same enemy with all of your characters, until the targeted foe is defeated. It is important to heal your character using either potions and items or healing spells. You can heal in battles, or while not being in a battle at all. Status effects like poison or paralyzation will disappear after finishing a battle, and you will not have to get rid of them afterwards, like you have to in many other roleplaying games. There is also a little something named 'finishing moves' that are extremely powerful moves. Each character has a power meter that will fill during battle. When the meter reaches 100 points, the character that the meter belongs to, can use a finishing move by first selecting the character with the directional pad during battle, and then, when either one of your characters or the enemies are moving, press CIRCLE to unleash the attack. The finishing moves will cancel anything that is going on at the moment once you press CIRCLE. Since you can have up to six party members, but only four participants in battle, you can choose who of your party members you want to have in the battle lineup. Do this in the main menu. There are small swords on the characters that are in the current battle lineup, and you can move these swords by selecting them and pressing the X button. The four characters that have the swords on their icons are battle participants, in other words. The battle menu gives you quite a few choices. Here, I will explain them all: Attack ------- This option makes your character attack using his or her equipped weapon. A completely standard melee or ranged attack in other words. Magic ------ This is what you use in order to do magic attacks. After pressing 'magic' in the battle menu you need to choose what kind of spell you want to use. This is also where you choose to use the effects or spells that your equipped Resonance Stones are able to produce. Magic attacks cost MP. Read more about combination of resonance spells/magic in the next section. Skill ------ Skills are abilities that your characters learn as they level up. Some skills are usual attacks, while others make your characters able to steal items from your enemies and so on. Item ----- You can also use items in battle, like potions that give your characters HP, MP or boost their stats. Your character will have to wait with other actions until next turn after using an item. Even if you use an item with one character, you can make another one receive the effect of the item, by targeting the receiver after selecting the item. Wait ----- This option should really have been named 'move', since you can move your character after selecting it. If you move your character, you will not be able to attack during the same turn. Useful for attracting enemies that won't reach you after all, and then attacking them the next turn when they are within your range. Switch ------- If you have five or more party members, you can use this option to switch between them during battle. Escape ------ Makes your party run away from battle. You can not run away from boss battles, and escaping does not give you any experience points at all. Not recommended unless you feel like you're going to get defeated. Finally, Remember this: -> Melee and other standard attacks do not cost anything to use -> Magic Spells cost Mana (MP) to use, but MP can be refilled by using items -> Skills cost nothing to use -> Water is good against fire etc. -> Finishing Moves can only be used when the power meter is full -> The power meter is filled slowly during battles -> 'Wait' gives you the opportunity to move your character -> When you target an enemy with skills or magic but the target dies before You get to attack, your skill/magic will not be used. If you used a normal attack however, it will be used on another target. -> Monsters drop Rills -> 1 Rill is worth 5 Gent (money). Exchange at the various shops in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Combining Resonance Spells [RacoCom] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once you start finding resonance stones, you'll note that some of them are able to produce spells that can damage your enemies, while others boost your characters' status or abilities instead. The ones that produce damaging spells are the most important ones, and you'll often rely on them during battle. I'll refer to these stones as damage-stones. In the magic menu during battle, you'll see that each of these damage-stones have one spell that targets one single enemy, and one that targets all the enemies on the entire battlefield. The spells that targets one single enemy can be combined, if you cast two of them during the same turn. Of course, this means that two (or more) of your characters must have a damage-stone equipped. When combined, the damage-stones will produce a very powerful spell that deals a lot of damage to the monster or enemy that you use it on, and in many cases, it deals damage to the other enemies on the battlefield as well. As you might have guessed, the spells that are to be combined have to be targeted at the same enemy. If two spells are targeted at different enemies, they won't combine. The various resonance spell combinations are: Fire - Wind Fire - Earth Fire - Light Fire - Dark Water - Wind Water - Earth Water - Light Water - Dark Earth - Water Earth - Fire Earth - Light Earth - Dark Wind - Water Wind - Fire Wind - Light Wind - Dark Light - Water Light - Fire Light - Wind Light - Earth Dark - Water Dark - Fire Dark - Wind Dark - Earth In other words, resonance spells can not combine with their oposite element. For example, Fire can not combine with Water. Spells that target all the enemies on the battlefield can not be combined either. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Main Menu [RacoMen] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can access the main menu at any time, when not in battle or in a conversation with someone. Use the Square button to access it. There are various choices in the menu, and I will explain them as best as I can here. Equip ----- This is where you equip weapons, armor, stones and accessories you have found or bought. After pressing 'equip', use the L and R buttons to browse between the characters in your party. To equip a Resonance Stone, go to 'equip' and press RIGHT on the directional pad. Item ----- This is where you use items like potions, read about them, or read in the books you have found. Should not require more of an explanation. Magic ------ Outside of battle, you can also use magic spells. Use L and R to browse between party members, and their magic spells. You will be using the magic option a lot for healing spells both after and before battles. Map ---- This is a map displaying the Resonance Stones' locations. You can not look at at the map before Forte and friends have found it at the beginning of the game. History -------- Serves as a log over what has happened in recent years and ancient times. You gain more entries by reading books, talking to people and most importantly, just progressing in the game's storyline. Data ----- This is where you save your game, load already existing savegames, or delete them. You can save whenever you want, and as many times as you feel like. System ------- Here you can set the message speed, configure the button layout (controls) and turn combat popups ON or OFF. The main menu also displays your amount of Gents, Rilll, and the HP, MP and level of your current party members. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Frequently Asked Questions [RacoFaq] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: I heard this isn't really the first game in the series. A: Correct. This is really the fifth one in Japan. Q: What's up with all the weird dialog? A: Ask the people that carried out the localization. A: If you want me to spoil it, his real identity is Thomas from A Tear of Vermillion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Pet System [RacoPet] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's a pet system in this game. From a certain point in the storyline, a pet will start following you. The dog named Jan does not count as a pet, since he is a party member, just like Forte, Una and so on. Depending on what you answered down at the bottom of the well at the beginning of the game, you will either get a dog, a cat or a rabbit-like creature when McBain, Forte and Una leaves town to go on a journey. You can interact with the pet by pressing the CIRCLE button when standing near it. The options you get are to feed it, scold it, praise it or just observe it to get a clue on what mood it is in. Unlike LoH 1, there is no real pet food to buy in this game, so you will have to feed it weapons and items from your inventory if you want it to eat. The pet system is kind of random, unfortunately, but depending on what you feed it, the pet will be either happy or angry. Angry pets sometimes pop into battles and damage you enemies. Happy pets will sometimes pop into battle and boost your characters' status. The pet will also find items on the ground, that you can get from it by examining it once a yellow icon appears above its head. The items found by the pet are mostly healing items, and not really important ones. Once again, the items found by the pet are random. Even if you decide not to feed your pet, it will still help you, just not as frequently as when you're feeding it. Do not give too much thought to the pet system, as it really is more of a gimmick than a real full-blood feature. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Main Characters [RacoCha] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Forte ------- A village boy from Racos Palma living inside of a wrecked ship, that his father has changed into a house. Forte lives together with his parents and his grandfather McBain, and enjoys fishing, playing instruments, and playing with his childhood friend Una. After his parents ask him to, Forte decides to follow his grandfather on a journey to visit all the towns, villages and cities on the continent. McBain -------- Forte's grandfather and a veteran troubadour that was very famous a long time ago. Before he gets too old, McBain wants to go on a long journey, to try and collect all of the legendary resonance stones that have been scattered around the world. His wish is changed into reality one day, when he finds a magic map displaying all of the stones' current locations. McBain is a man that has many good jokes, and likes young girls more than anything else. Una ---- Forte's childhood friend that lives in Racos Palma with her parents. Even though her parents fight a lot, Una is a very happy girl, that often helps out at the local dyestuff factory. Una has liked Forte since the first time she saw him, but lately, these feelings have gotten stronger and stronger. Una wants to confess her love for Forte, but this isn't very easy for her, since Forte seems to be avoiding long conversations when the two of them are alone. Jan ---- This aging dog is the fourth main character in Song of the Ocean. Jan doesn't have the ability to speak, but often proves that he is a very kind creature, by giving food to other hungry animals. Later in the game, Jan gets a new friend, when he meets to desert rat named Rick. Jan isn't able to equip weapons or armor, but does a good job in battles anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Starting Out In Racos Palma [Bain001] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +------------------+-----------------+ | Dye Bag |Dye Money | | Cure Bottle M |Purify Potion | | Doll Knight 1 |Orb of Ocean 14 | | 50 Rills |Orb of Ocean 1 | +------------------+-----------------+ After the scene with McBain and Forte talking, walk around town and talk to people in order to get familiar with the controls, the location of all the houses and so on. You should especially talk to Una, who is extremely cute. When you feel like you're done, just head as far southwest as possible, and walk into Forte's home to see his dad and mom. They are worrying about McBain who has gone to the local lighthouse to train on his instrument, and want Forte to go and talk to him. Since there's not much else to do, head to the northeastern part of Racos Palma, and walk south from the item shop. On your left side, you will see a well. Walk further left from the well, and kill the monkeys that attack. Jan, who is a smooth dog that always helps out, can also be used in battle, and after you've killed the monkeys, he will be visible, following Forte around. Well, head into the lighthouse, and walk to the upper floor to find McBain playing his instrument. When Forte talks to him, he gets mad, but explains that he is planning to leave on a journey one of these days. He also wants Forte to go back to the village and help the old woman Shela and Una with their work in the dye factory. So, head back to the factory (just north of where Forte was playing at the beginning of the game) and talk to Shela. Your task from Shela is to follow Una to the village Cranka and deliver a Dye Bag to an old woman named Kapero that has a house near the entrance in Cranka. Well then, head north out of town and towards Cranka. + Ruth Road Head a little north, and listen to Una when she talks about the water and the sea. Kill the monsters that attack, and then keep walking north. If you need healing after the battle, just use Jan's Pero Cure spell. You can use spells from the main menu. Una asks Forte if he has a special someone, and Forte says that his grandfather McBain is the most beloved person in his life. Kill the monsters that attack, and then keep walking, and walk out of the screen and into a new area. Just keep walking and killing monsters until Una remarks that Forte has gotten better at using his sword. From there, keep walking, but have a look on the northern side, as there will be a chest containing a Cure Bottle M there. Then walk east until you reach the bridge that leads into Cranka Village. + Cranka Village Outskirts Walk to the other side of the bridge, then head south down to the sea for a scene with Una playing her piccolo. Scenes like these often add to your history overview that can be found in the main menu, but are not necessary to trigger in order to complete the game. They are just for looks, and sound, of course. Walk back north and then a little east to reach the real village. + Cranka Head over to the item shop in the eastern part of the village, and buy the book named Doll Knight 1 for your coming collection's sake. If you can't afford it, just exchange your Rills that have been earned in battle to Gents (money). Now head to the northeastern part of Cranka and talk to Gena outside of the building with the spinning water wheel. Play a melody on the trumpet for her. You can also walk to the stage in the middle of the village to play the songs that you have learned this far, just for fun. Now you should head to Grandma Kapero's house a little east of the entrance to the village that you entered from. Talk to her. She has a red '!' above her head, which means that you should absolutely talk to her. Kapero gives you 50 Rills and some Dye Money. When you're done talking to Kapero, walk north out of Cranka towards the Water Gate Cabin. + Water Gate Cabin In the northeastern corner you can find a chest containing a Purify Potion. Examine it again to find Orb of Ocean 14, and then, examine behind it to find Orb of Ocean 1. Right now there is not anything else to do at the Water Gate Cabin and its surroundings. You should just head west out of Cranka from where you entered. After hearing about the small poison leak in the water upon leaving, go back to Racos Palma to deliver the Dye Money. There will be some monsters on your little trip this time too. You might want to try out the Finishing Move system, since your power meters most likely are fully charged by now. Read the battle system section of this document to find out how to use them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Forte And Una Returns From Cranka [Bain002] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find -------------- Fred 1 Marbles Leash Bottle M Old Key Magic Map Go talk to grandma Shela to give her the Dye Money from grandma Kapero. Shela says that Una and Forte can have the rest of the day off, and go play somewhere. Una wants to head over to Forte's house, so go there to see his parents again. The coming conversation makes it clear that McBain's plan is to travel around the world once more, before he dies. He told Una about this earlier, and there is not much doubt about that McBain is serious. Sleep in Forte's bedroom to restore your health for free. Time to go check up on McBain now, so run over to the lighthouse and the upper floor again. The music that McBain plays is so nice that Una thinks this is the perfect time to confess her love to Forte. At the moment she's going to speak, McBain notices the two kids, and Una is interrupted. A mad gorilla now comes running from behind Forte and his lovely friend, but McBain throws a stone at it, and throws it into the air so that it lands on the roof below, and makes a huge hole there. The three of them decides to walk into the room below the hole. McBain now joins Forte's party. Walk north through a door to find a locked chest that can't be opened right now. Now, read the scribblings on the wall behind the chest. Let me quote the localization team responsible for The Legend of Heroes III: 'The Bottom of the Hole To Draw Some Water' This is a reference to the well that can be found a little east of the entrance to the lighthouse, so go and examine that well now. When climbing down, the rope used to do it will rip, and out friends will fall down to the bottom of the well. Okay, on your left side is a chest containing the Fred 1 book. In the northwestern corner, open a chest for some Marbles, then walk directly south to find a Leash Bottle M. Head a little south from the chest. Una will ask Forte if he heard something. It does not really matter what you answer, as the functionality of the 'thing' you get will be the same anyways. I always choose 'cat' as cats are much cooler than dogs (sorry, Jan). Now walk north from the chest in the northwestern corner and open the chest there to find an Old Key that can be used to open the chest in the lighthouse. Walk to the southeastern part of the cave to hear Jan's barking. McBain will break the wall, so step outside and then head straight east into the room below the lighthouse. Use the old key to open the chest from earlier. You will receive a Magic Map. McBain explains that since there is a dot blinking on the map's drawing location of Cranka, this might be the old magic map that is supposed to lead the owner to the sacred Resonance Stones that were hidden long ago. Watch the game's intro to find out more about these stones. Now try and leave Racos Palma, and speak to Kail who is guarding the entrance/exit. He won't let you leave right now, but McBain manages to manipulate him so that you can leave after all. Well then, head all the way north to Cranka. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To Cranka After Finding The Magic Map [Bain003] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find -------------- Purification Fighting Band Now after walking over the bridge leading to Cranka, you can walk south down to the sea and play a song. Walk to Cranka itself and look at the map. McBain will tell Forte to ask around to get clues on the first Resonance Stone's location. Head a little southeast from the entrance, and talk to the girl named Burepa that can be found in her house. She has heard that the underground waterstream collapsed when the waterway and water mills in Cranka were built. Burepa also explains that a man named Hester's dad was in charge of the construction. Well then, go and see Hester. He is currently located in Nerith's sewing house, in the northern part of town. Go talk to him. Hester explains that the stone is most likely still in the waterways, and that Dorso at the Water Gate Cabin north of Cranka has more information. Go see Dorso. + Water Gate Cabin Dorso says that he has seen some letters on the wall down in the old waterways earlier, but that you need permission from the local elder to get down there. Back in Cranka, there has been another poison leak in the water. Go to the northeastern part of town - near Furen's house - to see elder Scold. Talk to the elder to get his permission to investigate the waterways, and then head back and talk to Dorso at the Water Gate Cabin. As Dorso says, you should bring a Purify Potion with you so that you can remove the poison from your party members if needed. You can also return to the cabin to restore your HP for free later on. After walking into the now empty waterways, head south to Cranka again. You should still be down in the empty waterways, of course. walk straight south, and then east to find a door. Open it to get to the underground waterways. + Underground Waterways Go a little west and then south down a set of stairs. Continue west from the next room, then follow the only path available. When you see a hole in the wall, walk near it and let McBain use his Rock Crash technique to destroy the wall. At the next interception, head east and then follow the path until Forte discovers the letters on the wall. Walk straight into the letters and use Rock Crush once again to break the whole thing to bits. Head inside the new opening. In the northern part of this small area, you will find a chest containing the Resonance Stone of Purification! McBain's document says that the resonance stones can be used to generate a spell, similar to the word inscribed on each of them. This means that the Stone of Purification can purify and remove poison. To equip a resonance stone on someone, go to the equipment menu, press RIGHT on the directional pad, then equip the stone. You can use their spells and effects by using the magic spells menu. Just equip the Purification Stone on Forte for now, ok? Now walk south out of the room where you found the stone, and then just keep walking straight into the southern wall to find a secret passage. This passage actually leads you to a chest that you might have seen earlier, at the other side of the water when you first saw it. Well, open the chest for a Fighting Band that Forte should equip in one his his accessory slots. Heal using either your potions or Jan's Pero spell, and then start walking back to the entrance of the underground waterways. You will run into three giant poison bugs. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mini Battle: Giant Poison Bugs | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | This battle can actually be harder than you might expect from one so | | early in the game. Walk into the cabin itself, and onto the bed there. Sleep in order to regain all your HP and MP! Go back and see the elder in Cranka again. Have a talk with him, and then go back to Racos Palma, Forte's hometown. + Racos Palma McBain takes Forte over to the lighthouse to practice on his instrument. After training, he says that he will leave on his journey after he has seen Forte participating in the upcoming Pinzel Recital. In Forte's house, after McBain has gone to sleep, mom and dad wants Forte to follow McBain on his journey, to keep an eye on him and his health. Watch the scene over at Una's house, and then, the screen will fade out. The next thing that happens is the Pinzel Recital. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Pinzel Recital [Bain004] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +------------------+-----------------+ | Ocean Album |Leather Glove | | Dotted Ribbon |Fur Coat | | Defense Sword |Canvas Shield | | Citrus Bow |Fireball | +------------------+-----------------+ Everyone will now watch Forte playing on stage, so listen to his composition. The next, and last performer is Altos from the country named Greysul. The participants will now be rated by a jury. All of the participants will now line up on the stage, and the winner is.... Altos! Forte managed to get the second prize, just behind Altos! Both of them are now qualified to participate in the international Recital that is to be held in Kavaro International Theater! Forte and the rest now go back to Racos Palma, after deciding that both Una and Forte should follow McBain on his journey. The three of them will now train on their new song, named Traveler's Prelude. Head north to the town entrance and talk to everybody before leaving. + Ruth Road Run north towards Cranka, until an animal comes from behind. Depending on what animal you 'thought' you heard down in the well at the beginning of the game, you will either get a cat, dog or a rabbit-like animal. They can find items for you while walking, so make sure to examine the animal when there's a light above it. You can also feed it with items in order to alter its mood. The pet can either boost your stats or damage enemies in battle, depending on its current mood. You can not control the pet yourself, though. However, since the pet system is more of a gimmick than a real feature, anything will be fine. Don't give it too much of a thought, since there is not much to think about. The animal has the Ocean Album in its mouth, and gives it to Forte. You can use it to view orbs later, but not right now, since you don't have any of them yet. + Cranka Now head to the northeastern part of Cranka and talk to Gena. When she asks Forte to play on the trumpet, say 'no' and start playing on the Kithara instead. Gena will give you a dotted ribbon. Let Una equip it, and then head east out of town. + Chituna Road A woman will come running, chased by mad monsters. Follow the lot and save her by killing off the monsters by using a couple of finishing moves. The woman explains that she is an arms dealer, and that she can sell you some really good weapons right now since you saved her. If you can afford it (remember to exchange your Rills for Gents), buy the following stuff: --------------------- Defense Sword - Forte Citrus Bow - Una Leather Glove - McBain Fur Coat - All Canvas Shield - Forte --------------------- The woman will now leave, and you should equip the things you bought from her. There's no hidden treasures or anything like that yet, so head east and walk until you see a small path leading a little north, straight into a mountain wall. Use Rock Crash at that wall to break it. There will be a battle at the other side, so save and heal before going through. Kill the monsters in the battle using Finishing Moves, like usual. There's three chests. One of them has a trap that will trigger, but not damage you. Examine this trap chest once more to find a Jolly Key Ring. The other two contain Fireballs. Head back and a one screen east to find an area with a dirty path, and not just grass like earlier. If you walk directly south from here you will find the first Tuning Fork that leads to a special scenario. The scenarios have their own section in this document, so use that if you're interested. Head east from the fork to reach Pinzel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Getting Passports In Pinzel [Bain005] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find ---------------- Passport Orb of Ocean 10 Upon entering Pinzel, Forte will get surrounded by a flock of girls that saw himwhen he performed in town some days ago. A man named Jiri is spying on Forte, but leaves before anyone sees him. Head north to the opera house where three kids are running around like maniacs. Talk to Grart and play a tune for him when asked to. Now head over to the inn and sleep there if you need healing. Outside of the inn you will find Jiri and girl named Pivin that has lost her sister. You can't do anything for them right now, by the way. Now that you're familiar with Pinzel, head to the southwestern part and walk into Rung's manor to get a passport. When you have got the passport, it is time to walk over to the entrance of the embassy of burodain at the northwestern part of town. Talk to the butler there, to receive an upgraded passport. Alright, now head over to the Greysul embassy at the northeastern part of town. Just talk to the butler here as well to get an upgraded passport. Try and leave town using the southern exit. The fans will stop Forte then make him promise to perform for them right away. Jiri and his friends try and rob the girl fans during the performance, but get beat up instead. Talk to the woman inside the inn that has lost her daughter, and then head south out of Pinzel. + Sunbarl Road Follow the path, then watch the young lady that comes walking over the bridge. There's nothing special with this lady, so don't bother following her. At the other side of the bridge, you will find the Orb of Ocean 10. These orbs are basically artwork that can be viewed in your album from the item menu. Head south, and you will run into the second tuning fork. Head south from the fork to reach the town named Fargot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visiting Fargot [Bain006] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find -------------- Fred 2 50 Roze Doll Knight 2 Orb of Ocean 3 Boarding Ticket Head south down to the tavern. Outside of the entrance, talk to a girl. This is the daughter of the woman that was staying at the inn in Pinzel. The girl will run back to Pinzel. Follow her and talk to her mother at the Pinzel inn if you want the book named Fred 2. Ok then, back in Fargot enter the tavern itself and walk up to the stage to play a tune. After the performance you will receive the Doll Knight 2 book and 50 Gents as a reward. There's no need to buy weapons here, as the ones you can buy from the shop here are the same ones as the ones you got outside of Cranka or in Pinzel. No need for any items either, by the way. Head down to the ferry station, and McBain will walk in to order tickets. He leaves his baggage outside, which Jiri notices. Jiri manages to give everyone chili peppers, and then steals the passport! When Forte and friends return, they notice that their passport has been stolen! Now you need to talk to the following people: ----------------------------------------------- Mandy just southeast of your current location Elen east of Grandma Rotica's house Task northwest of the tavern Rukko near the town entrance Adam at the tavern Harys west of the tavern ----------------------------------------------- When you've talked to those people, head over to the item shop to find Jiri. Follow him to the store room, save your game, then head down to the basement. The three bandits are waiting down here, ready to pick a fight with you. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mini Battle: Three Bandits | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | Each of the bandits have around 200 HP. Start by attacking the one named | | Doug with standard attacks. He should go down after two turns or so. | | With Jiri and Zub left, start healing your party using Jan's Peropero | | Cure spell. If you want the whole thing to end quickly, use finishing | | moves on the two bandits that are still standing. If not, just use melee | | attacks, and continue healing with Jan's spells. | | | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ After the battle, McBain, Forte and Una will force-feed the three bandits with chili peppers, and then deliver them to the town guards. Head back down into the basement where you fought the bandits to find the Orb of Ocean 3. Examine the chest once more to find Orb of the Ocean 17. The passport will also be in your inventory again now. Talk to the receptionist over at the ferry station to get a Boarding Ticket for the ferry to Trim in the country Greysul. Head east the ticket control and board the ferry at the harbor. Wait for all the other passengers to board the ferry, and then watch the cut-scene! + Ferry Now that the ferry is in the middle of the great sea, on its way to Trim, talk to everyone on deck. It's pretty funny - everyone seems to be seasick. Well then, head down into the cabin's lower floor and speak to Ambassador Garenno that is lying in a bed in the eastmost room. Garenno is pretty seasick too, and wants Forte to find some medicine for him. Head up on deck again and speak to the captain. Unfortunately, there is no medicine left on the ferry, so McBain decides that he wants to play a tune for everyone, to try and make them forget about their sickness. Walk down to the cabin again, and talk to the three people there - including Garenno. Back up on deck, play the Traveler's Prelude for everyone that has gathered. After the performance, you will arrive at the harbor in Trim. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We Passed The Sea Without Getting Sick [Bain007] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find -------------- Doll Knight 3 Fighting Band Cure Bottle M Lapis Lazuli + Trim Walk into the ferry station and talk to the receptionist. Show her the passport and then walk south out of the building to arrive in Trim itself. Some kids will run away once they see Forte and friends, calling them thieves. Try and leave Trim by walking south towards the exit. Some men will stop you, saying that you should return the things you stole. Apparently, these men are mistaking you for the 'Swing Gang' that is a band of thieves. A man named Shao and his daughter will explain for the two men that they are mistaken, and that Forte and friends are not a part of the Swing Gang. Shao knows McBain from earlier. The daughter is named Rachel. Shao and Rachel say that the swing gang has been pillaging Trim by putting the citizens to people with a mysterious song. Shao and Rachel want to introduce you to an entertainment manager, and join your party. Head over to the Items Shop to buy the Doll Knight 3 book. Afterwards, go to the local weapons shop to gear up a little with the following things: ------------------------ Bandit Sword - Forte Skylark Dagger - Rachel Rancher Bow - Una Thick Glove - McBain Thorn Hammer - Shao Small Shield - Forte Leather Armor - All ------------------------ Just sell of your old equipment to get some money back, and then walk over to the stage in the eastern part of town to see manager Bruce. Play a song for Bruce when asked to. Bruce says that the performance was good, but that he wants something to spice it up a little. Walk to the tavern and speak to the four people with '!' above their head. Now go and talk to Pat and Siema in their house. Talk to Keet, who is also in her house. Shao and Rachel now says that you should go visit a cave south of town to get a little action. Save your game, make sure you bought weapons and armor earlier, and head south out of town. + Monsoon Road Walk south until you see a stone that describes the distance to Glysis Cave and Viento. From this stone, head as far west as you get to find a Lapis Lazuli and a Leash Bottle M in some chests. Orb of Ocean 36 can be found by examining the chest where you found the Leash Bottle M once more. Head back to the stone from earlier and walk southeast, directly into the mountain to find a secret passage. At the other side you will find a couple of chests containing a Fighting Band and a Cure Bottle M. Equip the band on McBain. Head directly south from the stone I mentioned to get to a new area. Follow the path that leads south, then west and finally north, to yet another area where you can see the sea north of the mountain path you are walking on. Walk southwest until you hear a child's voice. Kill the monster that was chasing the kid, and send the poor little fellow back to town by himself. A little south from here, you can enter Glysis Cave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Dark Glysis Cave [Bain008] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +-----------------+------------------+ | Orb of Ocean 41 | Marbles | | Leather Armor | Tranquil Snuff | | Block Coat | Air Bow | | Mind's Eye | Leash Bottle S | | Poster | Resurrect Ring | | Restore Snuff | Marbles | | Knock Sword | | +-----------------+------------------+ A little south of the entrance is a stone with letters on. Read it. On the stone it is written 'Eyes of truth are Right, Right, Left, Right, Left. Head northwest from the stone to find two eyes carved into the ground, and a chest containing the orb of ocean 41. As for the eyes, follow this procedure: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 - Step on the eyes left of the chest where you found the orb of ocean 41. 2 - Walk southwest to find a Leather Armor, then step on the eye a little northeast of the chest that contained the leather armor. 3 - Walk a tiny bit southeast, step on the eye there. 4 - Walk west to find a Block Coat, then head as far south as possible, and step on the eye you run into. 5 - Walk onto the eyes in the northeastern corner. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will now find another wall with a crest on, so use Rock Crush to break it and get to the other side. Here you will find the Resonance Stone of Mind's Eye. You will now get transported back to the beginning of the cave, then back to Trim. + Trim Equip the Mind's eye on Forte, then go and see Bruce over at the stage. Perform a song for him. Now Bruce will start composing a new song and gives Forte a poster. Try to put it up on the bulletin board outside of Keet's house. Keep forbids this, so go and talk to Rachel outside of the weapons shop to make her start putting up posters, then head back to the stage to meet with everyone again. Bruce has now finished composed 'Open Your Mind'. Just before the concert is about to start, Bruce explains that all the posters have been torn apart. You will have to meet the citizens face to face and explain that you do not have anything to do with the Swing Gang, since people seem to think so. ------------------------------------------------------------------- - First head over to Keet's house. - Talk to Siema and Pat in their house. - Speak with Dim outside of the tavern. - Talk to the bartender and the three guests inside the tavern. - Go and see Bruce again. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Three kids (one of them is the boy you saved before getting the Mind's Eye) will now come to watch the performance. Afterwards, Forte and friends will decide that they should leave Trim. Shao and Rachel tag along, as they think this journey sounds interesting. If you want to, change your battle lineup in the main menu, and head all the way to Glysis Cave. When you get there, walk south instead of heading west to the eyes on the floor. You will find an exit leading to Forest Road. + Forest Road Once outside of Glysis cave, make your way southwest to another area. You will find a chest containing a Knock Sword that Forte should equip. Head back to the first area, then walk a little northeast - not very much - then walk south down a small path. You will find a chest with some marbles in. Walk back to the cave entrance now. If you walk southeast from the cave entrance, you will find a man selling normal items. These should not be needed, so head further south from the items seller. You will find a desert rat lying on the ground. Jan makes the rat eat a cookie, and then it runs away. Continue walking south from where you found the desert rat. In the new area, walk a bit south, then make your way to the northeastern corner to find a chest containing a Restore Snuff near a pond of water. Head southwest from here to reach another part of Glysis Cave. + Glysis Cave There is only one path to follow here. It leads south to another cave exit. Walk through it so that you get outside again. + Monsoon Road Walk directly south of the cave entrance and into the mountain. There is a secret path here leading to some chests. They contain Tranquil Snuff, Air Bow, Leash Bottle S, Resurrect Ring and Marbles. Equip the resurrect ring and the air bow on one of your characters. This ring resurrects the character that has it equipped if he or she dies in battle. After one use, it disappears. Walk southwest to find another Tuning Fork. You might want to use the tuning fork to go and buy new powerful equipment, but you don't have to at all. Keep walking along the coast and you will reach the town named Viento. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Drama In Viento [Bain009] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +----------------+------------------+ | 300 Gent | Resurrect Ring | | Cookies | Resurrect Powder | | Dotted Ribbon | Leash Knuckle | | Leash Bottle L | Pearl | | Cure Bottle L | Orb of Ocean 22 | | Water | 500 Gent | | Fred 3 | | +----------------+------------------+ + Viento Rachel and Shao will leave the party for a little while, so walk around town and get familiar with Viento. Check the maps section eventually. Your task will be to talk with the citizens in Viento that have a red '!' over their head. This is a list that explains exactly who you need to talk to: ---------------------------- Jillia in her own house Gracino in his own house Butler in the Bureeon manor Memuru in the Bureeon manor Bureeon in his manor Deck in the Bureeon manor ----------------------------- Now it's time to head over to the tavern. Shao and Rachel are waiting in the room east of the tables there. Shao has already made a deal with the rich man named Bureeon that has a huge manor in Viento, and has signed a deal that says your party will have to be part-time workers for Viento. Shao has 300 Gent as a reward for doing the part-time work. Accept the money, and then head over to the mansion where Bureeon lives. The butler at the mansion gives everyone jobs, and says that Forte and Jan will have to walk down into the basement of the mansion and catch some rats that have been spotted there earlier. Walk down the stairs in the northeastern part of the mansion to find a rat hole. Forte spots three desert rats (one of them is the one you met on Forest Road), but can't bring himself to kill them. Head upstairs again and speak to Memuru to find out that Rachel has escaped from her work, because she did not like sewing. Walk down the stairs in the northwestern part of the mansion and talk to McBain. He has some cookies for you, so take them and head back to the rats. After feeding the rats go back upstairs and report to the butler. Before Forte manages to tell the butler about the rats, a man will come running, screaming about the Swing Gang! Apparently, two of the girls working at the mansion, as well as Una, have been kidnapped by the Swing Gang, who now demands a ransom! The gang wants 1 million Gent in order to let the girls free. They want the money delivered by a kid to Aquaharp Cave - right now! It is decided that the weak-looking Forte and McBain are to investigate, and try to free Una and the two girls from Aquaharp Cave. Head south out of Viento. + Arbencottle Walk directly south after heading out of town, and into the mountain. You will find a chest containing a Dotted Ribbon. South from this chest is another secret path with six additional chests at the other side! They all contain Leash Bottle L, Cure Bottle L, Resurrect Ring, Resurrect Powder, Leash Knuckle and a Pearl. Examine the chest with the Resurrect Ring again to find Orb of the Ocean 15. Equip the Leash Knuckle and Dotted Ribbon on McBain. Now follow the path southwest from the entrance to Viento, and walk along the coast to a new area. Walk east to yet another area, and then head east when you reach the nearby fork. You will eventually reach the entrance to Aquaharp Cave. + Aquaharp Cave Just walk a little north until you meet the Swing Gang. Those weaklings will just make a run for it when some rats appear behind them. Una now joins your party again, and the other girls go back to town. North of where Una joins you there is a stone that says that you will need the mind's eye to have any hope of survival. You should already have the mind's eye equipped, so don't fear anything. Head north from the stone, and when attacked by Phantoms, use the mind's eye magic spell so that you can damage them. Walk down the nearby stairs, to a room with a weird dripping sound. Open the chest that is waiting for you near the stairs for a Orb of Ocean 22. You will find a locked chest. Read what is inscribed on the stone left of the chest. From the stone, head a little north, then walk on the path that leads south. There will be two places where water is dripping down here in the southern part of the cave. The one most to the east is the one you should examine. Walk back north, then a little west, then as far south as possible to find another place where the water dripping is out of tune. Now you can go back and open the chest that was locked earlier. You will find the Resonance Stone of Water. Equip the water stone on someone - I chose McBain myself. This stone is able to cast spells that do water damage, so it's good against fire type enemies. Head out of the cave to get transported back to Viento. + Viento Back in the mansion in Viento you will receive 500 Gent, and strike a deal with the girls there so that the desert rats can get food from them after you have left town. After getting the money, talk to Anessa in the mansion to get the book named Fred 3. Head south out of town. + Arbencottle When you get to the fork that leads to Aquaharp Cave, head south instead of east this time. You will now reach a road with green trees on both sides. Walk south along this road until you meet the desert rat from earlier. The rat, now named Rick by Una, joins the party, but is not really a member alone. Instead, it sits on Jan's head, as eye candy - and nothing more. Follow the path southwest. McBain will notice on the map, that someone is moving the resonance stone in Kantus. Continue west until you reach a fork in the road. Head north to reach Kantus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A Rebellious Student In Kantus [Bain010] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +----------------+-----------------+ |Doll Knight 4 | Marbles | |Twister Bow | Leash Bottle M | |Cure Bottle S | Lakity Paste | |Leach Bottle S | Doll Knight 5 | |Restore Snuff | Life | |Amethyst | Rivet Glove | |Cure Bottle M | | +----------------+-----------------+ + Kantus A boy and a woman will come running. The boy manages to get away, and then throws a pepper bag at Forte, his friends and the running woman. The woman says that her name is Mousole and that he works at the Kantus Music School, where the boy from earlier is a student. The boy's name is Shuber. Head over to the tavern and speak to Lebis. Give him a Cure Bottle M if you have one, buy one for him at the item shop if not. Lebis will give you a book named Doll Knight 4. Head over to the school after getting the book. At the school you will meet Mousole. She says that Forte and his friends can perform at the upcoming school festival if they want to, and that they can practice in the basement of the school. Walk into the school and head down the stairs in the northeastern corner of the building to meet Shuber again. Shuber plays Leone's Etude on the piano. Forte now receives the Etude. Try heading out of the school's entrance door now. Shuber will come running, chased by two professors that blame him for vandalizing the principal's office. The principal thinks that this is the work of bandits, since Shuber usually jokes around, with things that are not illegal. The principal will ask Forte to go and apologize to Shuber. Head south out of town, and at the fork, go south towards Hilltop Tavern. + Arbencottle There's nothing you can miss yet on your way to hilltop tavern, so just keep walking south along the huge cliffs until you trigger a cut-scene where the party members look on the nice view. From here head one area west. You will eventually find a chest on your right side containing a Twister Bow. Keep walking west until you reach some short stairs. On the right side of the first stairs you will find two chests containing Cure Bottle S and Leash Bottle S. At the top of the third stairs, head east to find a Restore Snuff in a chest. Go west, down some stairs, then head north to find three chests containing Amethyst, Cure Bottle M and Marbles. Directly east of the three chests you will find Leash Bottle M and Lakity Paste. From here go north. There is just one path from here, so follow it until you reach a tuning fork. Continue walking north until you reach Hilltop Tavern - finally. + Hilltop Tavern First take a look at the monument stone northwest of the tavern itself. 'In memory of my encounter with the pure-hearted bandits', the letters that were once carved into the monument by Leone says. Walk into the tavern and buy Doll Knight 5 from the item shop. Walk right of the inn counter to Find Shuber and his grandfather Rayzen. Listen to the story about Rayzen meeting Leone and starting the school in Kantus. After everyone else has left, McBain gets to see the resonance stone of life, that Rayzen is keeping. Rayzen does not want to give it away though. The next thing that happens is back in Kantus, where the festival performance is about to start. + Kantus Unfortunately, the swing gang has sneaked into the school and makes the principal give them a box containing a composition once written by Leone. Watch the scene with Shuber playing in the principal's office. Forte will head over to the tavern in Kantus, and McBain will tell him about the fact that Grandpa Rayzen actually has a resonance stone. After the conversation, head back to the school area, and enter the building furthest to the west. Right before Forte is going to enter stage, the Swing Gang appears again, saying that the principal pulled a trick on them last time. The gang now finds out that Rayzen at the Hilltop Tavern has the stone, and Shuber runs off towards the tavern in order to save his grandfather. Once you arrive at the tavern, go see Rayzen and the bandits on the veranda northwest of the tavern. Just watch the scene, and Rayzen will be freed by Shuber. Forte and his friends now perform back at the school in Kantus. After the performance, Rayzen is so impressed with them that he hands Forte the Resonance Stone of Life. This resonance stone gives the one equipping it a weak healing spell. I equipped it on Una, as she could use one of those in battle! Leave town by heading south now. + Arbencottle Start climbing up towards Hilltop Tavern once again. Before they get there, our friends take a little rest, and then you can finally go to the tavern. + Hilltop Tavern Walk into Rayzen's room to meet Bureeon, that is the owner of the big mansion in Viento, that you worked for earlier. Bureeon says that the Rick's (the rat) friends are doing well, and that he is going to a party at Ryutom Island before not too long. Well, now you can head west and talk to the soldiers guarding the Bozerl checkpoint. They say that they can't let you through if you're not friends with an important person. Go back and see Bureeon again. Now try to walk back to the checkpoint after talking to the butler that comes running. Now talk to the receptionist in the middle of the checkpoint, after Bureeon talked to the guard. See Bureeon once again when the receptionist is done talking. Alright then, now you can head west from the checkpoint. + Arbencottle On your north side there is a chest with a Rivet Glove. Take it, then head northwest to a new area. Follow the path west, and you will reach Bozerl. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Smell Of Sweet Bread In Bozerl [Bain011] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +-----------------+---------------+ | Fred 4 |Earth Armor | | Bill |Cure Bottle S | | 300 Gent |Bucket | | Resurrect Powder| | +-----------------+---------------+ + Bozerl Upon entering, the smell of sweet bread floats in the air - lovely! Walk to the southeastern part of town and talk to Excy outside of Ms. Rupthya's house. She will give you the book named Fred 4. Now head over to the Pensola embassy and talk to the ambassador. He says that there is a weird woman living in his basement. Try and leave the embassy by walking west out of the entrance, and the woman will start singing, begging you to come and pay her money. Head back into the embassy, and down to the cellar. The woman has an accessory shop down here, where you can buy stuff. Here however, you can't pay with gent, and will have to use rills instead. Get your stuff if you find some of her items interesting, then head over to the weapons shop to buy the following: ------------------------ Sailor Sword - Forte Maple Bow - Una Iron Glove - McBain Circle Shield - Forte Leather Cuirass - All ------------------------ Head over to the bakery now and talk to the person behind the counter. This is is Altos, that played against Forte during the Pinzel Recital. Altos gives you some bread, then runs off. Altos' father will now give you a bill that you need to go and deliver to Altos over at the punitive team's headquarters. Altos now tells Forte about his sister that he parted with when he was young. Go and talk to Ms. Rupthya after Altos receives an order of thirty breads, and then play a song for the punitive team. You will receive 300 Gent. Now walk west out of town towards Quarry. + Shmarkasta Walk southwest until you reach a new area, then make your way south. Walk under a bridge-like cliff, and you will run into a tuning fork. You will find some Resurrect Powder west of the tuning fork. Take it and then walk south. Continue walking until you reach a fork in the road. Head west towards Quarry. Continue walking west, and you will reach a new area. When you see another of these wall-like cliffs, head west to find Earth Armor in a chest, then head north under the cliff. Finally, head to the northwestern corner to find the entrance to Quarry. + Quarry Head to the west side of the big cleft and talk to the man operating the construction crane to find out that a weird stone has been found down in the cleft, but that non-authorized personnel can not go down there. Well, head back to the item shop near the entrance and talk to the administrator with the blue jacket. He tells you that you need to talk to a man named Dunk to take a test before you can go down into the cleft. Go see dunk at the stage north of the item shop. When Dunk asks who's going to fight, choose Forte, or another character you feel comfortable with. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mini Battle: Boss Dunk | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | This battle is very easy, if you have passed level 10. Should not be too | | hard even if you've not reached 10 yet. Dunk has about 250 HP, and does | | not do a lot of damage with his melee attacks. Just use normal attacks at | | him until he's defeated. You shouldn't even have to heal once if you have | | some decent armor on. | | | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Walk over to the crane again, and onto the lift there. First take it one level downwards. Then, do not leave the lift, but go ANOTHER LEVEL DOWNWARDS. Head east and talk to the young man coming out of the cave. Pick up the bucket he leaves. Forte will now fill the bucket with water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Working In Quarry Mine [Bain012] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +-----------------+----------------+ |Cure Sword | Cure Bottle S | |Resurrect Powder | Cure Bottle S | |Cure Bottle S | 500 Gent | |Cure Bottle S | Earth | |Leash Bottle S | | +-----------------+----------------+ Now that you have the bucket filled with water, go straight north of where you found the bucket to enter Mineshaft 1. Your task will be to find some big stones marked with red '!' marks, and pour water on them. + Mineshaft 1 First, head northeast from the entrance to find two chests containing Resurrect Powder and a Cure Sword. Don't bother equipping this sword, even though it has the ability to heal - your old one does more damage. Well, now head back to the entrance and go northwest instead. You will run into STONE 1. Examine it to pour water onto it. Northeast of the stone you will find a Cure Bottle S. Head back out of Mineshaft 1, take the lift one level up and enter mineshaft 2. + Mineshaft 2 Head straight north from the entrance to find STONE 2. Pour water on it. Now walk northwest from stone 2, ignore the stairs you pass, to find STONE 3 near a worker. Pour water on it, then continue walking northwest to find a set of stairs and a chest. Open the chest for a Cure Bottle S, then head up the stairs. Up here, an apprentice and a worker will be talking. After the conversation, pour water on the nearby STONE 4. A little southeast from here you will find STONE 5. Afterwards, Head straight east, and follow the path that leads south. It can be hard to see, but you know it's there. This was STONE 6, and the last one you had to deal with. Well done. If you want a Leash Bottle S, head south from stone 6, walk out the door, and into another that you'll see in the mountain wall. Backtrack to stone 5, walk south out of the door, then into the door on your left side. Inside this room you will find a Cure Bottle S in the eastern corner, and another one in the western corner, after walking on a minecart trail. Now that you are done, go back to the entrance of Mineshaft 2, head all the way to the top of the lift, and talk to the administrator at the item shop. He will give you 500 Gent. After getting your money head back down into Mineshaft 2. Now you can finally head down the stairs west of the entrance. Make your way down several floors, walk to the other side of a minecart trail, then you will find another one of Leone's crests, along with some pillars. I will number the pillars from left to right. The leftmost one is number 1, the rightmost one is number 5. Now touch the pillars in this order: Sound Pillars ----------> 5 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 <---------- Sound Pillars Now you can open the nearby chest for the Resonance Stone of Earth. Unfortunately for Forte, the swing gang now attacks, and puts everyone to sleep with their singing. Altos, that is coming to Quarry for a bread delivery, notices that everyone is asleep, and then runs into the apprentice from earlier. The apprentice did not fall asleep, since he had a mint candy in his mouth. After a while, Forte wakes up at the inn, and finds out that the Resonance Stone of Earth has been stolen by the Swing Gang. Altos now joins the party, and already has a decent sword and some armor on him. Put him in your battle lineup instead of Jan & Rick. Go to the absolute bottom again using the lift, and talk to the apprentice in order to get some mint candy, so that you will be able to fight the swing gang next time you meet them. The party now heads back to Bozerl. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Revenge In Old Quarry [Bain013] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +----------------+-----------------+ |Leash Bottle M | Fresh Bread | |Leather Cuirass | Lapis Lazuli | |Cure Bottle M | Restore Snuff | |Orb of Ocean 102| Leash Bottle M | |Earth | Noise Bell | |Lullaby | Doll Knight 6 | +----------------+-----------------+ After the punitive team has headed out of town, it's your turn. Talk to the swing gang grunt that is here, to find out that he wants the punitive team members to survive, not hurt them. Ms. Rupthya now appears. The grunt explains that the swing gang was were nice people before they found the resonance stone of lullaby, that they now use to make people fall asleep. The swing gang was then contacted by some mysterious people from another country, the grunt says. Ms. Rupthya and her men now go back to Bozerl. If you want some items, head into the cave in the eastern part of Old Quarry. Inside, you will find a Leash Bottle M in the southwestern part of the maze, and then use Rock Crash on the gray wall north of this chest to find a Leather Cuirass. Head out to Old Quarry again, then walk into the cave in the middle of the area to find a Cure Bottle M. Now, walk up the planks in the eastern part of Old Quarry and into a cave. After walking a little you will her a voice. By using the nearby pipe, Forte will hear the conversation the swing gang currently has. The grunt from earlier will now get beaten up by his boss. Make your way north, then exit the cave in the southwestern corner. Open the chest outside for a Orb of Ocean 102. Save your game, then walk through the nearby house, and into a cave entrance again. The swing gang leader will send three big zombie slime monsters at you. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mini Battle: Zombie Slimes | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The worst thing about these is that they can poison your party members. | | They don't have a lot more than 150 HP each though. Watch the cut-scene that marks the end of chapter 1. Altos decides to follow Forte's party, and his mother gives McBain some Fresh Bread. Head north out of town. + Borazone Road Walk north until you reach a new area. Once there, go find the Lapis Lazuli in the upper right corner. In the southwestern corner you will find some Restore Snuff, near the exit that you should now walk through. Walk straight west in the next area to find a Leash Bottle M near a pond, then go northeast to exit this area. There is a noise bell in the eastern part here, so take it and then go northwest to reach the next area. Walk north through a couple of areas to finally reach a checkpoint. For your information, the noise bell drives monsters away from you if you equip it. + Checkpoint Walk into the inn on the left side and talk to the guest there. He will offer to sell Doll Knight 6 to you for 30 Gent. Buy it. Now go to the northern part of the checkpoint and talk to the receptionist. Now head a little north to arrive in the Pensolan city named Dogarna. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here We Are, Dogarna [Bain014] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +------------------+--------------------+ |Perseverance |Wolf's Glove | |Spare Key |Leash Bottle L | |Doll Knight 7 |Thunder Knuckle | |Economy Ring |Call Bell | |Letter to the Duke|Orb of Ocean 91 | |Viscount's Letter | | +------------------+--------------------+ + Dogarna McBain will have a look at the magic map to find out that there are two places nearby where resonance stones might be hidden. Talk to the immigration officer in the western part of the house you have to go through in order to reach the town. He will have a look at your passport. Head over to viscount Egool's house and talk to the butler. The butler says that Leone once stayed at the viscount's house in Envorin, a village north from Dogarna. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dogarna secret path [dsp1] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Now head over to the eastern part of Dogarna (just east of the item shop). It's possible to walk into the wall here, below the ceiling-like city wall. You will find a chest at the other side of the secret path, containing Doll Knight 7. There is also a secret path like this at the western side of town, just west of Beck's house. Now, walk to the left side of Beck's house. Walk so that you are right outside of the place where Beck himself is standing. On your left side, there are two small objects on the ground, with a kind of ceiling above - on the city wall. If you walk between these two objects, you will be able to walk into the city wall. This secret path leads a little south where you will find a chest containing a spare key. This key can be used to open a chest in the eastern part of 'cave path'. The reward is an Economy Ring. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Try leaving Dogarna by going north to see a boy named Uto running into town. Follow him and talk to him. Uto says that he has made a special promise with the viscount. Uto explains that he saw the viscount putting on armor, and leaving town to exterminate a monster some time ago. Uto promised not to tell anyone in town about this, but now he has told Forte and his friends. Well, go see the butler again and tell him what you just heard, and leave town using the northern exit afterwards. + Levanpasso Walk past the sign that says monsters are on the loose, and keep walking until you see someone being attacked by monsters. Kill the three Mist Eye monsters, and talk to the man, who is, as you might have guessed, Viscount Egool. Forte now carries the wounded Egool back to Dogarna. Egool now shows Forte the resonance stone of perseverance, and gives it to him, when Forte and friends promise to take down a big monster that is on the loose north of town. Walk out of the viscount's house only to crash into Beck, Uto's father. Tell him you don't know where Uto is to have him leave. Talk to Uto's sister in the southern part of town, then walk all the way back to where you saved the Viscount. Keep walking north from here to run into a tuning fork. There's some new armors and weapons waiting to be bought in Racos Palma, for your information. Walk northeast from the fork, and follow the path until you reach a cave entrance. The nearby sign describes this as 'Cave Path'. + Cave Path You will hear Uto's voice, since Uto has gone into the cave to look for the monster that attacked the viscount earlier. Save your game, and heal. Walk northeast to find Uto. This is also where you have to fight the monster. The battle is against a creature named Mad Eye, and is not harder than a normal monster encounter. + Dogarna Back in Dogarna, the Viscount has two letters for the Duke of Pensola. Take them with you. Outside, Uto will come and thank you for killing the monster. Now go out of town, and back to the cave where you killed the monster some moments ago. You know, the one named 'Cave Path'. + Cave Path Walk to the northwestern part of the first area to find a Wolf's Glove. You need to use Rock Crush to break the entrance to the room where the chest is standing. Now, walk east to where you fought the monster that has attacked the viscount earlier. A little east of there, you will find a secret path leading south to a Leash Bottle L. Also, if you have the spare key from the secret path in Dogarna, you can walk over to the eastern part of the cave to open a locked chest. You will find a Economy Ring. Walk north to exit the cave. + Levanpasso Nothing special to find here, apart from a new kind of monster. Head north to the next area. Head over to the northwestern part of this area to find a chest. A little east of this chest, at the nearby mountain, there is a secret path leading south to another chest containing a Thunder Knuckle and a Orb of Ocean 91 (examine it two times). Head back through the secret path and open the chest mentioned earlier - it has a Call Bell. Well, equip the Thunder Knuckle on McBain. The call bell makes enemies move faster and attack with more allies if you equip it. Now you can head northeast to find the entrance to Envorin! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Huge City Envorin [Bain015] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +---------------------+-----------------+ | Fred 5 | Spare Key | | Orb of Ocean 74 | Lapis Lazuli | | Velvet Bag | Freeze Sword | | Bread Bag | Lapis Lazuli | | 1000 Gent | Marbles | | Restore Snuff | Noise Bell | +---------------------+-----------------+ + Envorin The first thing you should do in Envorin is to head over to Matia's house just west of the city entrance, and talk to her. She gives you the book named Fred 5. Now head over to Edger's bakery and speak to Altos' uncle. Afterwards, go northwest to the Marcherose Embassy and talk to the secretary. Show him the passport, then walk into the room behind him to find a Orb of Ocean 74. It's time to walk to the northern part of the city, and then talk to the man guarding Envorin Castle. The man explains that the Duke is out right now, and that you will have to come back later if you want to see him. Near the statue in the middle of Envorin, Shao and Rachel are trying to start what they call a fantastic concert. They have been sponsored by Edger's bakery, and are now talking about it so that all the citizens can hear them. They now play the tune called 'Parade of Clowns'. After the performance, McBain goes to meet the two of them. Forte and friends will run away after the conversation. Head back to the castle, and watch Duke Pensola return. The duke is a pretty angry man, and does not want to read the letter that the viscount wrote him. Head back to Edger's bakery. Edger says that ever since the duke befriended a man named Rish, he has been a pretty dislikeable person. Head all the way back to Dogarna after the conversation. + Dogarna Go speak to the viscount in his house and tell him about the problem with the duke in Envorin. McBain decides that your party will head to Ryutom Island in the near future, when the Duke is going there on a party, and try to speak to him there. The viscount thanks McBain and gives you a Velvet Bag. This bag contains the children's marbles that the Duke used to play with as a kid. When you walk out of the vicount's house, you will automatically go back to Envorin. + Envorin Once in Envorin again, go back to the bakery and talk to Edger and Altos. It turns out that Shao and Rachel have terminated their contract with Edger's bakery, and left town. McBain decides that since Shao and Rachel have left, your party will do the promotional work for the bakery instead. Edger gives you a bread bag that you can use later to promote the bakery. In fact, you have to walk around to the different parts of Envorin and hand out bread now. Talk to the following people to give them bread. ----------------------------------------- Runca - in her house Shenca - in Runca's house Matia - in her house Flan - in Matia's house Three people - at the tavern Serena - in her house Rana - in Serena's house Daria - in her house Rig - in Daria's house Becket - in his house Gatekeeper - outside of the castle Gatekeeper - outside of the embassy Secretary - in the embassy ----------------------------------------- After you have given bread to all those people, walk over to the fountain in the middle of the city. Your party will now perform 'Lets Dance' so that everyone in Envorin hears it. And then, when everyone has gathered, your party will play 'Happy Traveler'. Head back to Edger's bakery after the performance. Edger gives you 1000 Gent for the performance!! Try and leave Envorin by using the eastern entrance. Watch the sailor that comes running, then head out of the city for real. + Ezna Road Walk east, then northeast until you reach a new area. After walking quite a bit south near the shoreline, you will reach a bridge. After walking to the other side of that bridge, walk straight north to another area. Keep walking north, over another bridge, and you should reach a cave blocked by some bricks. Use Rock Crush to get inside. + Hidden Cave After entering the cave, you can find a hidden path directly west of the entrance, leading south to a secret room. In here, you will find Restore Snuff, Spare Key and Lapis Lazuli. Now head back to the entrance. Use rock crush on the bricks just north of the entrance, then walk down the stairs in the next room, to find several chests. They contain Freeze Sword, Lapis Lazuli, and some marbles. There is also a fourth chest that is locked. Use the spare key you found at the beginning of this cave to open it for a Noise Bell. Head out of the cave again when you have all those items. + Ezna Road A few steps down the road that leads east, you will find the town Mooth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Getting On The Ferry In Mooth [Bain016] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find ------------- Doll Knight 8 Boarding Ticket 1000 Gent Technique 200 Gent + Mooth Head over to the weapon shop and buy new equipment for your party members, if you need it. Then, walk into the item shop and get the book named Doll Knight 8. Head over to the ferry station in the northeastern part of town and talk to the receptionist. You will get a boarding ticket. Walk through the checkpoint and show the ticket to the guard. Now talk to all the people waiting for the ferry. Afterwards talk to the sailor that came running. The ferry will now arrive. The sailors say that people who are not guests at the upcoming party, will not be allowed to follow the ferry this time. Because someone that said they were the McBain company (fakes, obviously) have already traveled with the ferry, the sailors explain that you won't be allowed on the ferry either. Head back into the station to get the boarding ticket back from the guard. Go see all the passengers that were turned away at the tavern. Talk to Grandpa Goset, then leave the tavern. The bartender follows you, and asks you to go back to Envorin and get some bread at Edger's bakery for him, so that he can feed his guests. Ok then, head back to Envorin. + Envorin Go talk to Edger at the bakery. A guard will come and tell Forte that he and his friends should go visit the Duke at the castle at once. Altos says that he will fix the bread-problem in Mooth himself. Well, walk over to the castle now. Wait for the sailors to leave, then walk into the Duke's room, in the middle of the castle. Play a tune for the Duke, like the Etude. The Duke thinks the performance was so good that he wants to nominate your party for the audition on Ryutom Island. Things soon go all mad, and McBain ends up fighting a guard. McBain then shows the velvet bag to the Duke, where his children's marbles are contained. Listen to the Duke's story about the marble competition he held some years ago. Afterwards, the Duke finally promises to break all his ties with the mysterious person named Rish. He now gives the guards orders to arrest Rish's men, and gives Forte 1000 Gent. Finally, the Duke gives you a musical score named 'Forest & Sea Memory'. Outside of the castle, Edger meets you, and takes you back to his bakery. Edger now gives you the Resonance Stone of Technique. Make sure you equip the stone, then head back to the tavern in Mooth. + Mooth Speak to Altos at the tavern, then head back to where the ferry arrived last time you visited Mooth. You will end up fighting the sailors that were so mean to the passengers earlier. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mini Battle: Three Sailors | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | No strategy is really needed for these guys. They are basically just | | sissies with big mouths and little muscle. If you have full-charged | | Power Meters, use finishing moves. He makes the nearby guards arrest the sailors that just lost the battle. Altos now leaves the party, Forte and friends walk onto the ferry, which then sets out to sea. + The Grumble Once on the ferry, go talk to Grandpa Goset at the western part of the ship, then go see the captain. Walk around, on the ferry, head down to the cabin and talk to the people there, then return and talk to the captain that has now gone inside his room. The captain wants you to perform for the passengers, so head over to the western part of the ship to play the tune you got from the Duke. Go see the captain again for 200 Gent. The captain explains that he used to live at Ryutom Island earlier, but that the citizens had to sell the island to Rish, since a gang of pirates made it hard to live there. McBain looks at the map, and then, the ferry arrives at Ryutom Island. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day I At Ryutom Island [Bain017] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +------------------+-----------------+ | Orb of Ocean 81 |Orb of Ocean 99 | | Orb of Ocean 105 |Orb of Ocean 80 | | Orb of Ocean 29 |Bind | | Doll Knight 9 |Note | +------------------+-----------------+ + Ryutom Island At the docks there is a chest containing Orb of Ocean 81. Walk north from the docks and up some stairs to get into a room with blue floor. A woman named Aranna welcomes you to Ryutom Island. Let Elise show you the places named 'Pig Nose' and 'Pig Tail', that are basically the northeast and southwest corners of this area. After you've been brought to your room, visit the room on your left side for Orb of Ocean 105. Before doing anything else, head two floors upwards to reach the roof. Here you will find a chest with Orb of the Ocean 29. Walk back to the floor where your own room is, then go see Shao and Rachel in a room southwest of yours. After Rachel and Una's conversation about Una's feelings for Forte, head up to the roof again and talk to McBain to have him re-join your party. Head to the bottom floor, then walk outside. Go west to find an item shop where you can buy Doll Knight 9. It would also be a good idea to buy a Memory Coin here and equip it on someone like Una, since monsters will start do drop more items when you defeat them if you have the Memory Coin. Head over to 'pig nose' to find Orb of the Ocean 99. A little south of the hotel you are staying at, there is a statue. If you examine the statue, you will find a set of stairs, leading down to the local casino. If you want to, you can walk down there. If not for anything else, there is an Orb of Ocean down there. + Casino If you talk to the lady behind the counter, you can buy Doll Knight 1-9 and a set of other items, but you have to pay with Rills, not Gent. In the lower left corner of the casino you will find Orb of Ocean 80. Walk out again. + Ryutom Island walk to the northwestern part of the island, walk up the stairs there, and head east to find a tuning fork. Head directly east from the fork to find Elise. Kill the crabs that are threatening her. You will now get the Resonance Stone of Bind. This one makes it possible to freeze the movements of your enemies in battle. Now head over to the main building on the island, just north of where you checked in after arriving with the Ferry. Talk to the three people that have already found their places inside the main house, and wait for a woman named Mr. Meritos (eye candy) to come walking with more guests. Talk to the four of them when they have stopped walking. Ambassador Garenno will now enter the building, so go over and talk to him. Finally, Rish himself appears a little north of his guests. Boy, does he look fishy. Follow Garenno into the back room.Garennoo says that Rish is trying to get a good relationship with the Numeros Empire, and that he's being overly nice to their ambassador. The Numeros empire has a big army as well, and Garenno thinks Rish is backing them with money. After Garenno has finished talking, enter the scene on the western part of the island to practice. The chef claps for you. The chef is the brother of the captain that you met on the ferry. Roland, the cook, gives you a note that should be given to Elise later on. Go and deliver the note to Elise now. She's where she's always been - north of the docks. Head north to the main building again and talk to Roland. Roland takes you to the casino. Forte explains to Roland that Rish's sailors have stolen all the supplies that Roland's kitchen has used up 'til now. Roland tells you that Elise is the late village chief's daughter, and that she feels guilty since her father sold the island to Rish. Head back to your room, and get some rest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day II At Ryutom Island [Bain018] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find --------------- Doll Knight 10 Watch the musician Cyrano, who is the first participant in the competition. He plays 'triangle rhapsody'. Next up is Balthazar with his song 'The emperor's holiday'. The third one is Diva Wendy with her 'Wild Berry Picking'. Shanoon Tribe is represented by Argus and Kachua with their 'Dancing in the Desert'. Watch Rachel and Shao's 'Parade of Clowns'. Now it's your turn to play 'Forest & Sea Memory'. Go and meet Roland and Elise outside of the stage's backroom. The winner of the competition will now be announced. The winner is... The McBain Company! Forte and his friends won! Rish now wants to say a word. he has decided to make Forest & Sea Memory the national anthem of Ryutom Island! Afterwards, walk out of the hotel to meet Roland again. Roland is searching for Elise. Help him search by heading over to 'Pig nose' - the northeastern part of the island. Elise is standing there, and soon Roland will come as well. After a small fight, both of them will leave. Head over to the house north of the dock to find out that Elise has gone down to the dock to help preparing the boat there. The sailors that got arrested in Mooth have returned, as you'll notice after walking down to the dock yourself. Try boarding the boat, and then talk to Elise again. Garenno and Roland can be found in the casino, so head there after the conversation with Elise. One thing leads to another, and you will find yourself fighting the nasty sailors in the casino. After you've bet up three of them, the remaining sailors will take Garenno hostage. Before they manage to do anything to them, though, a mysterious man in green clothes rescues Garenno. The man reveals his identity as Jack Slade, a diplomat from Burodain. Slade beats the crap out of another sailor, and then the rest of them run away. Now go and see Argus at the hotel (same floor as your room) to get Doll Knight 10. Now head east to the main building to see Roland sneaking into Rish's secret meeting. Walk directly north to see Garenno, and then walk back to floor 2 of the hotel you are staying at. Talk to the butler that is guarding the eastern part that leads to the main building, and then go back to Shao's room and talk to him. Shao takes you up to the roof and show you how to get to the other side, to the roof of the main building. Walk down the nearby stairs, and listen to what Bureger, Rish and the pirate king Ramon are talking about. Roland will dash into the room in the hope of attacking Rish, but is stopped by Ramon. Slade has also been listening the the conversation, and has been hiding behind Forte all the time. Go to sleep after promising Slade to help him tomorrow. This is where Day II on the island ends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day III At Ryutom Island [Bain019] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Walk down to the dock and talk to everyone. Then the Banquet will arrive. Walk onto it and speak with Garenno. The huge ship now heads out to sea. + The Banquet After talking to Elise, head down two sets of stairs to reach the supply room. Walk into the room on your left side to overhear Bureger and Rish who are talking in the room at the other side of the wall. McBain notices that Slade is also listening to the conversation. After Slade has left, walk up to the deck. Slade will send a pigeon into the air from the eastern side of the Banquet. Walk west to the stage and talk to Elise. Afterwards, perform at the stage for everyone that has gathered around you. When the pirate ship attacks, you will have to fight four pirates. Winning over them isn't hard. Just use melee attacks, and heal using Jan or the person that has the resonance stone of life equipped. Each pirate has around 200 HP. When Slade joins your party, replace Jan & Rick with him in the battle line up. Save your game, then walk north to board the pirate ship. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Boss: Pirate King Ramon | |--------------------+--------------------+----------------------------------+ | HP: 500+ | Recommended lv: 16 | | |--------------------+--------------------+ | | Start by taking down the two normal pirates. This is actually the ship that appeared in The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion, but Thomas has upgraded it since last time, to cross the Gagharv cleft. Elise confesses her love for Ronald, and everything is just fine. Rouca, who also appeared in Vermillion, says that Forte and friend have to walk over to the Planetos II now, if they want to travel with it. This is where chapter 2 ends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mad Rogues Need A Good Beating [Bain020] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +---------------+------------------+ |Doll Knight 11 | Orb of Ocean 43 | |Tarp | Orb of Ocean 44 | |Double Edge | Doll Knight 12 | |Chest Guard | Shrine Key | |Fred 6 | Target | | | | +---------------+------------------+ + Polka Talk to the receptionist at the station, then head over to the item and weapon shop. Buy Doll Knight 11, as well as the following weapons and equipment: ------------------------ Warrior Sword - Forte Blizzard Bow - Una Shadow Glove - McBain Warrior Shield - Forte Warrior Armor - All ------------------------ Now exit town, and head west towards Edel. + Tical Road There is only one path to follow, so keep walking until you find a chubby man being robbed by some rogues. Defeat the two rogues, and let the fat man bring you to the Polka Inn, where he'll have some food. The man says that his name is Jack Slade, and that he is a diplomat. This means that the Slade you met at the boat is a fake. Most likely, the Slade you met earlier was Thomas, the captain of the Planetos II. If you have a good mind, you can try and compare the artwork for Thomas in A Tear of Vermillion and 'Slade' in Song of the Ocean. The eyes is what reveal it whole thing. Now you can one again head west out of Polka, and towards Edel. + Tical Road Keep walking north from where you saved the real Jack Slade, and when you reach the place where the path splits to north and west (this is the entrance to Edel), walk west from here. Cling onto the southern side of the mountain wall from here to find a secret path that leads to a small lake. Near this lake you will find a Tuning Fork and come chests containing Tarp, Double Edge and Chest Guard. Equip the Chest Guard on Forte. Do not bother with the Double Edge, since it damages Forte when used in battle. Now head back north, and walk into Edel. + Edel The rogues are making havoc in Edel, entering people's houses and stealing their stuff. Save your game, then walk into the tavern and beat up two of the rogues to have them escape. Dash northwest to Grandma Maybell's house to beat up another couple of rogues. The third pair of rogues can be found south of Maybell's house, in Marine's house. The cowards have now gathered near the village well, and built a robot! A killing machine! Waaah! +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mini Battle: Wooden Soldier | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | This battle is not too much of a problem if you've reached level 16 or | | more. When the rogues are 'dead', start | | attacking the wooden soldier, but be careful, and make sure to heal anyone | | that takes damage. When you've gotten that far, you'll soon win. | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ This should teach the rogues not to mess with the McBain company! Go see Marine in her house to get another book - Fred 6. Now go and fix Jig's broken leg over in Torie's house, which can be found in the northern part of Edel. Walk outside of the house to meet a captain in the army. He's got blue hair, and wants to know where the rogues ran off to. Head back towards Polka. + Tical Road Just before you reach Polka itself, you will run into the captain, that is named Palman. Palman has caught up to the rogues, and is now arresting them. Walk into Polka just to check things up. + Polka Diplomat Slade will stop Forte, and tell him to go see what's up down at the docks. Well, do as Slade says. A ship will arrive, and two men named Gazelle and Zenon will come out to see Palman. In the conversation you'll overhear, you'll find out that Palman is looking for a mysterious musician. When everyone has left the docks, go back to town and talk to Slade. Slade's best guess is that the soldiers are from the Numeros Empire that is cooperating with Rish. Slade knows of Zenon, who you saw at the docks, since Zenos is a supreme commander in the Numeros Empire Army. That's all for now, so head back to Edel. + Edel Jig will meet you at the entrance of the village, with a completely healed leg. Torie explains that after you left, a young lady dropped by their house and healed Jig with her voice. Now this has to be the musician Palman is looking for. Well, head northwest out of Edel. + Wyolina Road Follow the road southwest, and open the chest you run into for the Orb of Ocean 43, and examine the chest once again for Orb of Ocean 44. Walk northwest through all the three next areas. When you've done that, you will reach Lake Wyolina. + Lake Wyolina At the other side of the lake, a girl with long black hair is singing a beautiful song. Walk over to where you saw the girl to find another one of Leone's crests. The girl is gone, and McBain doesn't want to break the crest just yet, since he hasn't gotten permission to do it from anyone. A little south of the crest, there is a huge inn. Walk there and talk to the man named Munny Member. Play for him, and he will give you Doll Knight 12. Now talk to Winery who's also here at the inn. He has a red '!' over his head. Winery says that the girl who sung earlier is named Aria, and that she has just checked out of the inn. McBain asks about the crest north of the inn, and receives the Shrine Key. If you don't have healing potions, buy some from the merchant at the inn, and then walk back to the crest and open the entrance. + Lakeside Shrine Walk straight east from the stone near the entrance, use Rock Crash to break the wall, and pull the lever behind it. This lever is used to reset the three levers in the northwestern part of the shrine. Head northwest from the entrance stone, to get attacked by lots of monsters. Try and use Una and Jan's finishing moves in the battle, as those moves can damage several monsters at once. The magic attacks that McBain and Una should have learned by now are also nice at damaging several monsters at once - especially Ice Rain that the Water Stone makes you able to cast. Now, there are three levers just in front of you. If you pull the wrong one, you will have to go back and reset them by using the lever in the eastern part of the cave, and fight all those monsters once more. The lever on the left side is number 1, the one on the right side is number 3. This is the correct order to pull them in: Lever 2 ------- Pull this one first, then walk through the gate that opened, and pull the lever near the next locked gate. Head back to the three levers from earlier, fight the monsters again. Lever 3 ------- This is the second lever you should pull. Repeat the process from earlier, then return to the three levers to fight the monsters and pull the last one of them. Lever 1 -------- Doesn't require an explanation, but this is the last lever you should pull :) You will now gain access to the room behind the final gate, where you'll find a chest containing the Resonance Stone of Target. This one increases your chance to get critical hits. Equip it on Forte! Return to the inn, where you'll meet Palman again. Deliver the key back to Winery again after Palman has left. Now, rest at the inn if you need to regain HP/MP. When you wake up again, exit the lake area by going west, towards the home of the International Theater, Kavaro. + Wyolina Road You'll have to walk quite a bit before you reach Kavaro, and there are no secret passages or treasures for you to find here. Just keep walking until you finally reach Kavaro. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sightseeing In Kavaro [Bain021] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +-----------------+------------------+ |Fred 7 | Emerald | |Orb of Ocean 65 | Flip Cape | |Doll Knight 13 | Confu Knuckle | |Orb of Ocean 94 | Leash Bottle M | |Orb of Ocean 95 | Restore Snuff | |Orb of Ocean 106 | Iron Poker | |Orb of Ocean 70 | Cure Bottle L | |Concert Ticket | Light | +-----------------+------------------+ + Kavaro Forte and his friends want to see mayor DeMille, and there's nothing you can do about that. After the conversation in DeMille's room, walk into the room on your left side and talk to the Data Manager to receive Fred 7. When you run out of the city hall, McBain says that he's a little tired, and walks over to the inn in the southern part of Kavaro, with Jan & Rick following him. Now, you'll be doing some sightseeing: Sightseeing Part 1 ------------------ Walk back into the city hall and talk to the receptionist. She'll give you some tips on what you should look at while being in Kavaro. Afterwards, walk behind the city hall building to find a chest containing Orb of Ocean 65. Sightseeing Part 2 ------------------ East from the city hall, there is a bakery. Walk inside and eat some bread that the baker Matthew gives you. Now walk west from the city square, and talk to Grandma Koon in her house, to receive Doll Knight 13. walk south from Koon's house to try and enter the embassy. Then, walk back again. Sightseeing Part 3 ------------------ Walk up to the waterways a little north from where you first entered Kavaro. Watch the scene where Una tries to talk to Forte. Head over to the upper floor of the inn in southern Kavaro to find Orb of Ocean 94. Now, head downstairs and watch the scene with McBain and the waitress. Sightseeing Part 4 ------------------- walk into Globe Theater, north of the inn. Watch the scene with Balthazar, Diva Wendy, Volf and Teodora. Left of the scene, there is a chest containing Orb of Ocean 95. Walk up to floor 2 of the theater to find Orb of Ocean 106. Now head up to the eastern roof of the theater to see Aria walking around down at the street, followed by Palman. If you walk back into the theater and up to the western roof, you will find Orb of Ocean 70. Sightseeing Part 5 ------------------- Backtrack to the inn to meet Mrs. Meritos. She gives you a concert ticket for a performance at the theater. McBain rejoins your party. Head over to the weapon shop in southern Kavaro and buy new weapons and armor: --------------------------- Severing Sword - Forte Yew Bow - Una Fighter Glove - McBain Medium Shield - Forte Chest Guard - All --------------------------- Head out of the city using the southern entrance, to reach the swamp. You're done sightseeing now. + The Swamp A little rain doesn't stop you, does it? Well, head south. At the fork, go east to find an Emerald and a Flip Cape. Head back, then walk south until you reach another area. Walk straight south once again, and you will reach a completely green area. From here, head down to the lower left corner to find a Confu Knuckle. In the lower left corner there is a Leash Bottle M. Now head to the southern part to reach another green area. Walk further south until Palman's men surrounds you. Palman isn't unfriendly though, and brings Forte and his friends to his camp. Palman explains that he is researching the swamp, and hopes to build a portal there in the future. Walk east from the camp until Jan notices a lightning barrier. Backtrack towards the camp, but walk south before getting there if you want a Restore Snuff. At the camp again, Palman will tell you to go and see DeMille in Kavaro, as he might know how to get past the lightning from earlier. Palman is right, so head all the way north back to Kavaro and the City Hall to see DeMille. + Kavaro DeMille tells Forte that he should have a look at some ten year old documents that are stored in the data room. Head over to the data room left of DeMille's current location and read the book marked with a red '!'. Back in DeMille's room, you'll find out that the boy that saw the shrine ten years ago is named Enora, and that the man running the bakery is the one that found him. Head over to the bakery to check things out. The baker gives you an Iron Poker for the lightning, and Altos joins your party again. Go speak to Enora at the inn if you want to (optional), then head all the way back to the swamp where the lightening stopped you earlier. Once there, McBain will remember something he saw on the ground earlier. Walk one screen back west, then Northeast too find a rusted Iron Poker that the baker used ten years ago to get past the lightening. Una now shoots the iron poker you got in Kavaro into the ground, so that it absorbs all the lightening. Now backtrack, then head east. Make sure to save, and heal your character after passing the place where the lightning appeared before Una used the Iron Poker. There is a chest in the southern part of the next area containing a Cure Bottle L. North from the chest you will find the lightening shrine. A monster named 'Nue' is guarding the entrance. +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Boss: Nue | |--------------------+--------------------+----------------------------------+ | HP: 700+ | Recommended lv: 19 | | |--------------------+--------------------+ | | Nue has three small thunder spirits as helpers. This one makes the user able to do lightning damage. Equip it on someone. I chose Una myself. Make sure that Forte, McBain and Una has a resonance stone each that is able to do spells that cause damage to your enemies. In other words, it's smart to let each of them have either Light, Water, Earth equipped. Go back to the camp and check the letter that can be found on the table inside Palman's tent. This letter is a report where Palman says that he does not want to capture Aria, like his commander wants him to. Head back to Kavaro. + Kavaro Talk to Ms. Meritos at the upper floor of the inn and tell her about the letter you found in the swamp. Then, walk downstairs. Commander Zenon is here for some reason. Overhear his conversation with Meritos, then head back to the city hall. Zenon will leave when you get there. Talk to DeMille, who's sitting in his room as usual. Zenon is trying to worsen the relationship between DeMille and Meritos by telling lies, but has also offered to get rid of some wood soldiers that have appeared outside of Kavaro. DeMille wants Forte to head back to the swamp, and talk to Palman. Follow his orders, will you? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Great Escape From Zenon's Claws [Bain022] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find --------------- Concert Ticket + The Swamp Head all the way to the southern part of the swamp to reach Palman's camp again. Palman is in a bad mood, because Zenon refused to change his plans concerning Aria, who he wants to arrest. Despite Zenon's order, Palman has decided to protect Aria himself. Palman and his men run north, towards the wood soldiers outside of Kavaro. Follow them. You'll run into some wood soldiers that have already been defeated a little south of the city. A little further north, you will find Palman and his men beat half to death by someone. Just before Palman is about to bleed to death, his wounds are healed by Aria, who doesn't show herself. Back in the camp, Palman explains that Zenon is after Aria, because she is a descendant of legendary water tribe. The Numeros empire is actually trying to use the knowledge of the water tribe to gain power so that they can put the other countries under themselves. The wood soldiers are also Numeros' doing. The ones you saw earlier might have been sent towards the swamp to kill Palman, since he rebelled against Zenon's plans. Go back to Kavaro again. + Kavaro The wood soldiers have already managed to attack Kavaro, but most of them have been wiped out by soldiers from Numeros, as an excuse for them to take over the whole city. Zenon's plan worked out like he planned. Altos explains that the city hall has been taken over by Numeros as well. Head over to the theater after Altos has joined your party. Over here, Zenon has managed to arrest Aria, and is now bringing her to the city hall, even though DeMille does not want him to. Walk into the theater, and head up the stairs to reach the second floor. Baltazhar, who is here at the second floor, wants to make a concert, and invite the soldiers from Numeros. While the soldiers are busy, he wants someone to go and save Aria. Palman overhears the whole thing, and enters the room. You will now receive the concert tickets. Go and deliver all of the tickets to the soldier guarding the entrance to the city hall. Then, head over to the embassy south of Grandma Koon's house. The guard and the officer there know of what Zenon has done to Palman's unit, as well as the city, and thinks that it's horrible. Talk to the officer to get permission to enter Numeros later. Just show him your passport, and you'll be all good. Now you're out of tickets, so head back to the theater. Watch the performance that Altos plays, and listen to Palman's report. Palman has found out that it is possible to escape towards to town named Marcha west of Kavaro. Head up to the second floor of the theater now. Forte and his friend will now try and gather people for the concert, but no one seem to be coming at first. After a while, Numeros Soldiers start walking into the theater. Good job, Forte! Zenon also enters the theater. Over at the city hall, Palman - who is now in your party - fools the guard to leave his post. Walk inside the city hall, and save Aria from the room in the upper right corner. The guards are no deal for Palman and McBain. Palman takes Aria, Forte and his friends up to the second floor of the inn, where it is possible to walk onto the waterway. Palman leaves alone, Aria follows Forte. Make your way north on the waterway after the two soldiers have spotted you. When they surround you, Mile from A Tear of Vermillion will save you using his boomerang. Walk north until you reach the bakery. Matthew will let you pass through it. Walk west from here, watch Palman and his men fight against Zenon's troops, then run west to escape from Kavaro. + Aroma Road Aria is only at level 15, but has some nice healing spells who can restore health and get rid of effects like poison. Consider switching Jan & Rick out of the battle lineup and replace him with Aria. There is a merchant on your left side. Buy the Fir Rod and a Chest Guard for Aria. Now, Aria will be able to do some serious melee damage in battles. Head southwest now, to reach a new area. Make your way to the northern part to reach yet another area. Make sure you kill all the monsters you meet, if you chose to use Aria in your lineup, since she's a little under-leveled. After walking a little north and passing a tree, the road will lead west east. Take the eastern path to find a Tuning Fork. Walk a little north to reach the town named Marcha. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Escorting Aria Back Home [Bain023] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Items To Find +------------------+-----------------+ | Doll Knight 14 |Cat's Eye | | Emerald |March | | Air Armor |Orb of Ocean 26 | | Sleep Bow |Force | +------------------+-----------------+ + Marcha After McBain has checked the map, head over to the item shop to buy Doll Knigh
