This is a walkthrough for the Playstation Portable game Monster Hunter Freedom 2. In this guide you’ll find many things... But before you get started there are a few things you should know. First off if a certain strategy doesn’t work for you, do not be afraid to try something of your own. As you will find out I prefer the basic Sword and Shield and never really use bows. Also, since most of the missions repeat in one way or another, I’m going to give in depth strategies just for the first time the monster appears yet make it so it will help you even throughout the harder G rank missions. This means you might not get that much variance through out similar missions... I mean, how many different ways can I tell you how to kill a Yian Kut-Ku? Thus I made the enemy section as detailed as I could. Now, I’m going to do all of the Elder missions then as many Gathering hall quests that I can. If you still need more help you can use the more detailed Enemy List section. Believe me, if there is one section I recommend over any, it is that If you are new to the game and want to know as many pointers I personally use to minimize getting killed and maximize poaching innocent wild animals read on... If you think you know how to play for yourself and just need some mission tips you can skip this part. But hey, read it for fun or for a different view on things. *********************************************************** *Adapting to the PSP’s lack of the second shoulder buttons* *********************************************************** The biggest problem people have with this game is the controls. Attacking and other simple things don’t pose the problem... But the camera is a very big complaint. I would say 80% of the game is paying close attention to the monster to know when to dodge and when to attack. So it is very important to always look at them. Now, I VERY rarely use the auto center camera command to keep my eye on the monster. I do, however, use the left and right D-pad buttons to circle and pay attention. I strongly recommend getting your index finger in shape to lay on both left and right at all times. Your tip should be on the right D-pad button and the top of your first knuckle should be on the left D-pad button WITHOUT sacrificing your movement button hold (your thumb should be on this button). Now, it does take practice to perfect this way to move, BUT TRUST ME being able to circle around an enemy at all times will not only keep you on the move helping you to constantly avoid attacks, but will also let you keep a helpful eye to know when to attack and where. This will also keep some enemies in a constant turn state if you are close enough to them... Less attacks = better success. The finally reason to use this method goes back to the avoiding attacks again. If you aren’t constantly dodging about 95% of the attacks you’ll have some major issues down the line when you get to the harder missions. This is why I will make even the Yian Kut-Ku seem completely dangerous... So when you get to the harder missions, you’ll know how to attack and defend better. If you think you can damage race the whole game, you’ll be in for a rude awaking. Just a word of warning: If you depend on this strategy ALL the time and thus too much, you’re left index finger will hurt especially if you have that slimmer whiter newer PSP. Of course this assumes you have normal size fingers as well. If I ever get an email asking for help Versus a certain monster, THE FIRST THING I WILL ASK IS: Do you circle the enemy? If you don't use this strategy, I am very likely to just tell you to use it any ways, and come back to tell me the results. *************************************************** *When to cheese with items and when to suck it out* *************************************************** Once you begin the game you will be even tell you that the BBQ spilt is a bit expensive... At $560 (no tax) it can be steep at the beginning. Any ways you no doubt run into issues in the beginning with money issues such as when to buy what. Well you’ll want to rely on supply items for the most part... But ALWAYS take items in the box that aren’t supply items (Cool/Hot Drinks/Paintballs/SONIC BOMBS!!!!!) If you are particularly cheap, you will never have to buy a drink or Ball until the harder missions... At which time it won’t be an issue. Always use Herbs before potions as they are cheaper for the amount of health they heal. When starting off, plant power seeds in your garden with fertilizer to make an average of 1,000+ a row. Doing this after every mission (while remembering to not sell all but 3) will get you the money you need quickly. Now, always keep honey... You make think your beehive was a dull investment until you start making Max Potions all the time as well as Mega Potions. When in a mission you also have to keep track of how many of an item you have and when to use them. If you have one cool drink left, low health (no healing left) minimum stamina (no rations), don’t use, die first... No sense using it for a few seconds. Just remember the only thing that doesn’t restore is your weapon sharpness. Another important thing to consider: When to use an item during a fight. Unless you know when the safe times are and they aren’t in a rage mode, it’s safest always to leave the area first. When thinking of what to bring, always keep these in your backpack: 10 Herbs 10 Potions 10 Mega Potions 2 Well-Done Steaks 20 Whetstones 4 Iron Pick Axes 4 Bugnets It may seem steep, but when you get to the harder missions the more healing the better. The Axes and Nets are strictly for gathering if anything for Pokke points, especially when waiting for that time limit to run down after the kill. Remember, if you need to use an item, use it. You can always get them back... And is better than wasting up to 50 minutes for nothing. Also, when you get towards hard missions, you really need to crunch items... As you’ll need books of combos and such... So don’t pass up room saving items such as the hot/cold meats. Also, don't forget to use Armor/Power Seeds for the beginning of the game, and Mega/Demon Drugs and Mega/Armor Skins for the harder missions. I only used them a few times since I personally don't like to use items... but when I did, the difference was amazing. *********************************************** *I keep dying in a few hits, what should I do?* *********************************************** Sometimes you will need items and equipment with good skill around there as well. If you go into a fight, and things kill you too quick, here's what you can do... Make Stronger Armor/Use Armored Spheres: Don't be cheap when it comes to your life. Always make sure you gear is the maximum level it can be at to ensure longer life. If it makes you broke, you can always get money very easily by selling unneed supplies. For all of the G ranks I did, along with all the lower Gathering hall missions, I used... Rathalos Helm/Tigrex Gloves/Tigrex Armor/Tigrex Tassel/Rathalos Soul Greaves Equipped with the proper gems to give +15 to psychic vision (Auto Tracker = No more paint/looking) and +10 to attack (Attack up small). Make Max Potions: And extra 50% to health is MUCH better than it seems. In fact, it can help you a lot more than you think. Dragon Toadstools aren't even hard to come by. Use Armor Seeds/Skins: This one is self explanatory... they stack too. Take a look at your resists: Me and my (fake) cousin were against the Khezu for some fun. Now his idiot ass died all 3 times... I looked at his resists... a nice big -10. I don't think I have to say anything else. And finally, use that damn kitchen: This can give you things like defense/resists/life. ******************* *Do not be greedy!* ******************* I may say this many times and I will always imply it. It might be tempting to get that final hit of the combo in. Sometimes you might knock the monster down... Or sometimes it might counter your attack. Remember that most of the things in this game can easily out damage you in seconds. This is why you MUST remember and take note on how many hits with your weapon you can get it before you’ll get hit. It’s not uncommon to watch me play, see me randomly roll out of the way of a claw swipe in the middle of a combo... Safe than sorry right? However, when you see the words “10 minutes remaining” or see the monster you are hunting limping or in there close to death state, you should disregard the "play it safe and not greedy" way of action. ********************************* *When to block and when to roll.* ********************************* If you don’t have a weapon that can block, the answer is obvious. But if you are like me and use the sword and shield you sometimes have the choice to make. Should I risk rolling? Or should I bite the bullet and block? The trade off is simple, you sometimes take guard damage. Roll when you are close to a charging enemy. But if you are far away from the enemy, make sure to block has they can easily turn a bit and hit you. Remember if it looks like it will hit you, it probably will. Especially when you fight that chump from the opening movie, just his finger nail coming into contact with you it will do full damage. Block a tail swing if you are in the middle of it’s range, then roll out of the way if comes back around again. Roll between legs when a swing starts... BUT BLOCK IF YOU SUSPECT a hip check. The hip check is a move that can ruin your day... And if you don’t dodge right from the beginning to the right (its left) you’ll probably get hit due to poor hit detection. Always try to roll away from fire balls unless you don’t know which way it will be coming from. Block roars. Roars are pretty much one of the cheapest attacks in the game. Long radius, very little cue in most cases, and once it hits you are a sucker for damage. In most cases with an enraged enemy, you will get hit. In the event you are underneath the enemy, make sure your shield is facing the mouth or in the case of the Gypceros, face his head. If you don’t have a shield or think you won’t be able to block if able, STAND IN FRONT OF THE RIGHT LEG! This will sometimes get you hit with weak attack and pushed back, better than getting charged. ***************************************** *Why do I keep bouncing off the enemies?* ***************************************** Simple answer: Sharpness and where you hit the enemy. Mostly the first. If you find yourself bouncing off too often, either sharpen or get a sharper weapon. ********************** *Capturing VS Slaying* ********************** There are two ways to end most “Big Monster” missions, each with there own rewards. For the most part, capturing is not only quicker to end the mission, but you usually get more items out of it. You have to check into the item capture/carve list in the enemy section to decide what is better as some items can only be carved and visa versa. As to actually capture, you need the monster in a trap, like the shock trap, then pelt them with two tranq-bombs. Make sure they are limping or on their death bed. Has to get tranqs, either refer to the combo list or do the Rathalos mission in the Gathering Hall. ************************* *Raw Vs Elemental Damage* ************************* It may seem tempting when looking at weapon stats to assume that 400+ elemental damage is pure awesomeness. Well the truth is, you really have to look at what is weak to what. The majority of things hardly ever take full damage from anything, and even LESS from elemental. So unless you prepare accordingly using my little weakness charts in the enemy section, it’s always safe to stick with Raw damage. *************************************************************** *Help, I can't find the monster... and your guide sucks at it!* *************************************************************** Since usually only the first time a monster is seen (via an unlocked movie) is a certain area, I usually can't tell you were it is 100% of the time. I can, however tell you four very good tips. +Use Psycho Serum: Although it doesn't last very long, it will point you in the right direction. The only time it won't work is if the monster is on the move any ways... try to use this in the middle of the map as a whole so you can quickly move to it. +Use Paint Balls: A very obvious reason why... once you first find an enemy, PAINT THE BASTARD! This will let you keep track of its every move. It's a good idea to save paint balls in early missions then take a bunch with you for harder missions. When I did use paint, I would make sure to redo it every 10 minutes. Beware, I know the Blangonga can actually wipe off paint. +Auto Tracker/Psychic Vision: Probably the best reason to kill the Tigrex is to get this skill. You need 15 points to activate it, and once you do, it will show you where your targets are AT ALL TIMES! +Balloonist: Now, I only heard of this as a rumor, so I never tested it out... but I hear if you wave to him he helps you locate the monster. Not sure if it is a cue by him pointing the way or a map blip... but remember, I'm not sure if it works. ************************************************** *Heart side? What the **** are you talking about?* ************************************************** Instead of me saying attack his left (your right) and visa versa, I'm just going to either say attack his "Heart Side" or his "Heartless Side". You would not believe how many people in my past would screw up the "his left" sort of thing, so I would always resort to saying this. If you don't know what side of the body a heart is on, place you're hands on your chest. Where ever you feel a beet, there it is. Hint: On your left, his right :D (Note I'm using absolute reasoning based on the human body, as I don't know where hearts actually are in fake dino-monsters) ********************* *G Rank? What's that* ********************* G rank doesn't really exist... but it's what everyone and their mother calls it on the Message board. It's ANY mission that you need to Be Hunter Rank 4 ("HR4") basically in the Gathering Hall mission with the girl on the right or some of the downloadable missions. ************************************************ *What the ****, you stopped at the Dual Tigrex?* ************************************************ Unfortunately, I am unable to give any info on anything past HR5 due to a broken PSP. The good news is that I did get a lot in before it broke and some monster stats from things a couple of my friends supplied me with. Enemies I've actually NEVER fought/killed before are as follows: Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, Rajang*, Loa-Shan Lung*, Fatalis (All three), and Akantor. *I've fought Rajang in a multi player game before, I probably could have had him dead if wasn't for my crappy friend. I never fought Loa-Shan Lung before, but fought his harder "Ash" color version, so if you came for a strategy on him, that one will work for both. That wraps it up for the intro... Anything else you need to know should be found in it’s respected area. At the top of 5 is the first place you can find them. You probably can get all 5 you need from there... if you can't, head to the north areas (6, 7, and 8) to find others you need. A little tip, these are worth 50 Pokke Points when not delivering them for a mission... so remember the places you get these at as they will be the bulk of your early Pokke Points. If you don't get one, kill another, it's random, but it isn't a rare carve. They usually could spawn in almost any area. I don't think you will be coming to this FAQ for this mission though. Walkthrough: If you go in order, this will be the first mission where you have to fight actual enemies that will want to hunt you as well. This isn't a hard mission, in fact, you can easily go blow for blow and win this mission. You also get MORE than enough time to find all of these guys... 10 minutes for each... and believe me, I could finish this mission in just 5, as well as anyone could. Also, this is the same as the training missions... so you should be used to it by now. Walkthrough: Now two things you should know about this mission... to Popo are at the top of the mountain (areas 6, 7, and 8) and they only give you 20 minutes to do the mission. This mission isn't hard... and more so used to introduced our friendly poster boy in the flesh. If you suck at this game, and believe me, you just started, so you do suck, this will be the first time you'll learn how to run like a puss. Ok, enough beating around the bush, the Tigrex will be in this mission. If you see the large orange beast, YOU SHOULD RUN! It is VERY powerful, fast, and aggressive. You have no hopes of beating it... the time limit will prevent that. So, you'll want to just make your way to the top of the mountains, and kill the Popo you see... BUT ONLY WHEN THE TIGREX IS NOT IN THE AREA. Look, this mission isn't hard... but you can DIE very quickly... the good news is that you don't have one life... you have three. Remember, a Popo can be carved twice, so if you are lucky, you can actually get this mission done with just killing two of them. If you feel particularly ballsy, you can break parts of the Tigrex (Scar the face, break his arm claws, or cut off his tail). You don't have to kill him to get these rewards. Good luck on doing this... if you don't have that luck, you could just wait till you fight him for real... but his armor is sexy... tough choice, isn't it :D [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Slay the Blangos! [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Elder Rank 1-2 Intermission Now you should have many new things to buy... let alone afford at this moment... hopefully you will utilize my "Circling" the enemy strategy. Since the first five missions are easy... you'll soon find yourself fighting much bigger enemies besides the "Dromes". But just because you can circle and keep your eye on the enemy... doesn't mean you'll get the kill. You'll have a few missions here where you will need to REALLY pay attention to the monster... instead of just hitting them blindly. Now, although I can give a detailed description of every monster in every mission, if you scroll down to the "Enemy" section, I try my best to list the times to attack and the times to avoid particular attacks. Other than those tips, make sure you are using your Pokke Farm... you shouldn't have too many points yet... but make sure you always grab those Mountain Herbs (and Special Mushrooms). For money, use the rows of the field to plant items. If you get hold of power seeds, you can plant them and sell them for 140 a piece... which isn't bad. But if money isn't on your mind, and want an easier time with missions, plant both the power and armor seeds... and don't be afraid to over stock them. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Carnivorous Leader Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Day) Main Monsters: Giadrome Giaprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Hunt the Giadrome Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Pokke Village Chief Quest Details: It seems that I can trust you with a difficult job like this. I'd like you to hunt down the leader of a Giaprey pack, the Giadrome. I wish you a beautiful victory in our defense! Walkthrough: This is an "Urgent" mission... as beating it will let you get to the two star quests. Any ways, it is most likely your first mission in which you'll have to fight something that won't die in a single combo. First you'll have to find him, so head up to the snowy mountain area... areas 6, 7, and 8. You'll find him around there somewhere. Now assuming you picked up the paintballs, you can paint him so you always know where he is... OR you can just save them because he can't fly like most of the enemies you'll fight in the future. Now, if you practiced on the Giaprey in earlier missions, he is not going to give you a problem if they didn't. Take care to not get hit by the snow ball attack as it will freeze you. Once it is injured, it may run to another area. If you follow it too quick, make sure you turn around, as it will be right behind you. If you do good in this mission (IE not take a hit... as you really shouldn't if you only attack his sides after it attacks you). You should have no trouble with the other type of "Raptor" enemies. They are all generally the same with just different side effects. If you need more help, you can always check the enemy section. But odds are, you won't die by this... it has many simple attacks that don't really pose a big threat. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Reckless Bulldrome Hunter Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1200z/200z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Day) Main Monsters: Bulldrome Giaprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Hunt the Bulldrome Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Troubled Father Quest Details: My son decided to become a hunter and ran off after a Bulldrome on his own! Of course, now the tables have turned and I'm worried! Hunt down the Bulldrome on the snowy mountains! Walkthrough: Remember the Giadrome mission? This guy stays in pretty much the same areas. If you know how to attack, then roll out of the way before he charges, you will not get hit a single time... and that isn't that rare to see. Unlike the Giadrome, DO NOT FOLLOW IT too quickly. If you leave within about 10 seconds of it, usually you will start in front of it... and it will usually ALWAYS get in a hit. If you are in Area 6, and happen to have a bow, you can snipe him without worry on the ledge... or go up there if you need a break. It's also a good idea to pick the berries there for armor seeds. But really... this mission isn't hard. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Slay the Giaprey Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Day) Main Monsters: Giadrome Giaprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Slay 20 Giaprey Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Proud Farmer Quest Details: A pack of 20 Giaprey have been preying on my Popos! They're too much for me to handle and now they're back! Please get rid of them for me! Hunters, this is your chance! Walkthrough: Nothing too hard... think of it just like a quadruple training mission. Remember to kill all of them you see, then search every other area for them as they can be almost any where. For an added bonus, you can kill another Giadrome. I recommend doing this just for easy practice and carves. If he seems too much for you... you can always avoid him... but if you don't kill him, he can makes your life hell when hunting the other Prey on the top of the Mountains. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Pack of Blangos Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 900z/0z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Night) Main Monsters: Bulldrome Blango Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Slay 5 Blangos Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Calm Villager Quest Details: I request that you slay the Blangos rampaging through the mountains... A Bulldrome was also spotted in the area. Successfully avoid the Bulldrome and go about your mission. Walkthrough: If you are doing the missions in order, this is MUCH easier than the last... and a joke. Just make sure you look in every area to find them, as they can spawn in any area besides the grassy section. And if you find the Bulldrome, don't be afraid to kill it... because if you plan on carving, it will surely interrupt you. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Taboo of Negligence! Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Night) Main Monsters: Giaprey Anteka Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Deliver 15 Mountain Herbs Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Optimistic Lady Quest Details: The Mountain Herb, one of the seven sacred mountain flowers, truly captures the spirit of the mountains. There shouldn't be any wyverns in this weather, so you may gather with ease. Walkthrough: Just like the mission in the previous rank, only you need triple. Hit up area 5, and pick from both of those spots at the top of the little hill. Once you do that, head out to 6, and gather from the spot along the side of the cliffs. Now, if you still need more... and you likely will, head to 8, gather from the spot that is right next to the cliff wall... if that still doesn't make your 15 herb cut off, go into the secret area... simply crouch and go through the small space. There will be a gathering spot there that will give you MANY herbs. If that still isn't enough... and this time I doubt it won't be... head to 8, which has another gathering spot. Return to the Red Chest once complete. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Hunt Down the Velocidrome! Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 900z/0z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Day) Main Monsters: Velocidrome Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Hunt the Velocidrome Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Newly Wedded Husband Quest Details: It seems a large carnivore appeared as my wife was gathering mushrooms! There is no way I can let her out to pick mushrooms now... Help us defend the safety of the villagers! Walkthrough: If you killed the Giadrome, this guy is no different... even easier since he can't freeze you. It usually starts somewhere in 8, then moves to 6 --> 5 --> 7 --> 3 and then back to 8. So if you can't find him, circle that area and you should. Most likely he will find you. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Jungle Menace Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1500z/250z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Yian Kut-Ku Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Hunt the Yian Kut-Ku Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Jungle Envoy Quest Details: I want you to hunt and kill the giant bird-like monster that has appeared in our jungle. It's wreaking havoc on our environment and must be stopped! Walkthrough: Probably the first mission you'll play where you have to fight a REAL enemy. Not saying he's hard... but he will be the first of what is to come. Now, keep in mind he isn't like the Raptors... he will damage you from simple things such as turning and stepping forward. This is also the first fight in which I highly suggest using my circling strategy I listed all the way up in the info section... use it and learn it. It will make fighting the rest of the enemies in this game a lot easier to manage. Also make sure to pay attention to ALL of his attacks... you will see ALL of them in other monsters to come. He can be fought in many areas, in fact, I think I've seen him everywhere except from the cave areas while not injured. Once you find him, make sure to keep him painted. If you see him limp, and you don't have him painted, he will be in cave area (area 6). For further info on the Yian Kut-Ku, check out my enemy section. I would recommend you fight him without using too many offensive items... because if you can't kill him without items, you are going to have trouble with actual difficult enemies... but if you insist, you can use Sonic Bombs to really mess him up. I think they give you a couple in the chest... if you use just one, it will make him drop a shiny, which most likely be worth 500 Pokke Points... so it isn't a bad idea. For more Sonic Bombs, you can mix a Screamer and Gunpowder. To get Gunpowder, mix in fire herbs and nitroshrooms. But trust me... there are many more enemies in this game that they are better saved for. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Rarest of the Rare Beasts Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1500z/250z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Congalala Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Hunt the Congalala Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Village Grocer Quest Details: Do you know of a pink, fanged beast that roams the jungle? That beast has dirtied my shop beyond hope! It's impossible to clean up! Get rid of it before I'm soiled again! Walkthrough: A very quick to run and hard to kill beast... although he leaves himself open, he has a lot of health. Before starting this mission, make sure you have a good supply of whetstones as you'll need them. It's your call if you want to take Deodorant with you to get off the crap smell... and of course, you should take a few paint balls. For the majority of the fight, you should really learn how to play it safe and attack only when you know you won't get hit back. Consult my enemy section for better details on how to deal with this monkey. I usually fought him the majority of the time in areas 1 and 3... so visit them often if you are looking for him. Also, he will run to area 6, the cave, to sleep once damaged enough. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Hunt the Rare Forest Congas! But when I tried to pet them from my carriage, the beasts made a stink on me! I can't get it off! Punish those meanies! Walkthrough: Nothing too hard, especially if you killed the big monkey in the last mission if doing things in order. Any ways, they are everywhere and this mission shouldn't pose a problem for you. Kill the Velocidrome if you find him... you will more than likely not lose a sweat. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Attack of the Giant Bugs! It seems there are about 20 of them. One on one they are not a threat, but as a group they are deadly. So be careful. Walkthrough: Nothing I can really say... this mission is easy. If you bring a way to poison them, you will get a bunch of good carves from them. If not, just hack away... usually they will keep coming... if they don't move to another area. This is a time I like to do my Pokke Point gathering... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Collect to Combine Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Day) Main Monsters: Velocidrome Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Deliver 10 Special Mushrooms Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Combining Madam Quest Details: As affinity towards combining is important, but so are fresh raw materials! Special Mushrooms from the jungle are sure to improve your hunting life and wallet! Gather 10 of them! Walkthrough: Nothing to hard. Areas 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, and 10 all have gathering spots where you can find these mushrooms. Nothing too hard... may as well kill the Velocidrome... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Hunt the Gendrome! It appears there is an extraordinarily powerful boss among them! Hunt down the monster and make the roads safe again for all! Walkthrough: You shouldn't need too much help with this fight... and all the items you need are in the box (mainly just cool drinks) Any ways, he will usually circle around the desert like... 4 --> 2 --> 1 --> 5 --> 6 --> 4 He's nothing you haven't fought before if you know how to deal with the other Raptor Dromes. Just take care, as he can paralyze you. If your cool drink wears off... try to kill him soon... also, avoid fighting him in area 6, as it will drain your stamina faster due to the cold cave. Area 4 should also be avoided due to a large amount of Genprey there. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Land Shark Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1200z/200z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Desert (Day) Main Monsters: Cephadrome Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Hunt the Cephadrome Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Oasis Town Chief Quest Details: Our pack-animals were eaten by something in the desert. But nobody actually saw the monster attack! Track down this vile beast and take it out! Walkthrough: Before you enter this map, make sure you have a couple cool drinks and as many sonic bombs as you feel comfortable taking. The reason for the sonic bombs is because this ****er likes to stay in the sand for a long long time. Using one of these will pop him out, and give you a lot of free time to hit him. Now, once he is out... you can play it safe and counter attack him or you can just go to town on him. Since this is still early in the game, it isn't a bad idea... but can teach you bad qualities. If you choose to play the counter game, attack him only when he does that sand spit crap. It is very easy to see coming, has a long start up, and will never hit you if you are on the move. The choice it yours... You'll find him in the two large sandy areas (2 and 5). He will only go to 7 if he is injured. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Liver of Legend! Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 1200z Time Limit - 200z Location --- Desert (Day) Main Monsters: Gendrome Cephalos Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Deliver 3 Piscine Livers Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Foreign Peddler Quest Details: Hello sirs and madams! I deal in rare items that I find in the desert. Recently I've got a buyer for Piscine Wyvern and Sand Wyvern livers. Deliver 3 of them to me! Walkthrough: Before choosing this mission, I suggest 3 things. 1. Take a Hammer 2. Take a couple cool drinks 3. Take a few sonic bombs Use the sonic bombs if you REALLY can't get them out of the sand with the hammer. To use the hammer the right way, you'll want to hit them after their sand spit attack while they poke their head up. If you don't get hit with their body once they come up, you can run over to where they are and start pounding the sand... It usually works. Read them in my enemy section to learn more about this. Also... the most annoying part... sometimes you might not get the livers all that often. I can remember I got the scales like 8 times in a row! The good news is, you only need three... so if you happen to waste all your sonic bombs and come up short, you can always "Abandon Quest" and try again. Two more tips to use... Go to the middle sand area (1), it's smaller and thus easier to catch up to them. If they aren't there right away, move to five then head back to 1 in a little while. And finally... kill that damn Gendrome... he will annoy the hell out of you... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Gone Fishin' Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Desert (Day) Main Monsters: Cephadrome Genprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ** Goal Condition: Deliver 2 Goldenfish Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Twilight Fisherman Quest Details: Fishing, it carries on in the hearts of children and remains a simple pleasure for adult. Hearken back to a simpler time and bring me back 2 of the desert's most precious gift... Goldenfish! Walkthrough: Do this mission in 3 easy steps. 1. Firefly + Snake bee Larva = Goldenfish bait. This is the best bait for them. If you don't have any... worms will work. 2. Go to area 6... it should be obvious since they give you a Hot Drink in the desert. 3. Fish. Remember, they are a yellow/gold color. If you have the Goldenfish bait, it is beyond easy to catch them. If not, you'll have to come in with a lot of bait for some trail and error. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Elder Rank 2-3 Intermission Hopefully you have some points for the farm and a couple of bucks to buy some new equipment. This is a good time to ditch that starting set of armor and starting weapons. If you don't feel like making anything, you can always by the Battle Set of Armor... it's not that bad. For things to make, it all depends on what you can make, what you can afford, and what you are going up against. I made a piece of the Khezu armor since I could... maybe you should too! To unlock the Urgent Quest "The Ruler of the Snow", make sure to complete all of these missions: Blango Slaying Tactics The Lurking Desert Giant Gypceros: Venomous Terror A Killing from Mushrooms [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Gathering - Swamp Zone Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 12z/0z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Swamp (Day) Main Monsters: Genprey Hornetaur Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Survive until Time Over or Deliver the Paw Pass Ticket Fail Condition: Reward Zero Client: Pokke Village Chief Quest Details: A gathering quest in the swamp. Gather all the materials you can from the field, then deliver the Paw Pass Ticket to finish up. Walkthrough: Just like all the other gathering only missions... go here if you want a quick peek at what you'll be going to in a couple of missions in this rank. Otherwise, just place the Paw Pass in the Red Chest... since there isn't a lot of great/unique stuff in the swamp. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Gathering - Forest and Hills Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 12z/0z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Forest & Hills Main Monsters: Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Survive until Time Over or Deliver the Paw Pass Ticket Fail Condition: Reward Zero Client: Pokke Village Chief Quest Details: A gathering quest in the forest and hills. Gather all the materials you can from the filed, then deliver the Paw Pass Ticket to finish up. Walkthrough: Nothing amazing... the only thing I picked up in this mission was the raw meat from them dinos and the dung right there in the beginning of the mission. Otherwise Ticket the Red Chest. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Shadow in the Snow Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 2100z/350z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Day) Main Monsters: Khezu Giaprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Hunt the Khezu Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Pokke Village Chief Quest Details: If it's not one thing, it's another, right? Near the village, a strange flying wyvern called a Khezu has been spotted. It is strong, but I believe you can handle it. Do your very best! Walkthrough: Ok your second Urgent Quest... and one with a monster with a lot of health and a really annoying defense tactic. Now, before starting this quest, make sure you have at least 3 hot Drinks, a couple paintballs, and a couple psycho serums. This is because the wyvern likes to fly around... a lot... and it's not uncommon to have him land in a spot... then fly away. Finding him is the hardest part... that's why I suggest the psycho serum. If you don't have them, he usually flies between 6, 7, and 8. Sometimes he might be in the cave (3) or even in 1! Trust me... I hate when he is in one, because it's just out of the way. Now, read the section I have on him in the enemy section, since if you don't have a good fire weapon, it might take you a while to kill him. Hang in there and make sure you have a lot of healing items... I doubt you'll have good lightning resist... but if you do, use it. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Subterranean Glutton Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 1200z/200z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Night) Main Monsters: Giadrome Blango Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Deliver 3 Khezu Whelps Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Delicacy Collector Quest Details: I'm after the rare larvae of the Khezu. They should be on the summit, so search there. These whelps aren't to be taken lightly. If you run out of pickaxes, combine a bone with a rock! Walkthrough: First off, make sure you have as many pickaxes as you can carry... I doubt you will need all of them... but you never know. Farcasters are an option, you can sometimes buy them off that hag or by combining Bomb Material and an Exciteshroom. Any ways, head to area 8, go to the secret area, climb up the "ladder" only to the first level (ignore the one that goes even higher). You should see what seems to be a dead dragon. Use your pick on the little crack in the arm/bone. Most of the time, you will get the whelp. Once you do, you need to hurry back to base camp and drop them off as they damage you as you carry them. Thankfully you don't have to actually hold them like the eggs. If you have Farcasters, they will make the mission about half as long. You don't need them though. Just for the record, from now on, you can take a Whelp back to the Red Chest for an easy 400 pts. A little tip is to wait till you're target is almost dead (limping or what not), grab the whelp, then finish it off. It's dangerous, so you really need to make sure your target is almost dead. Any ways, if you finish the mission with one, you will still get the 400 Pokke Points. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Blango Slaying Tactics Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Night) Main Monsters: Giadrome Blango Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Slay 10 Blangos Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Armory Owner Quest Details: The pelt of a Blango can be made into various pieces of armor that are useful in everyday life. Slay 10 of the beasts and bring me their pelts. Beware of the Giadrome. Walkthrough: Didn't you do this mission before? Oh that's right, it was 5 of them. Nothing is different, they are in many places, especially at the top of the mountain (6, 7, and 8). The good news is that you don't really have to give the "Client" the pelts... but then again... who really pays attention to them? Kill the Giadrome for some extra carves. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Aim for the Jungle Crab Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1800z/300z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Daimyo Hermitaur Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Hunt the Daimyo Hermitaur Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Uncomfortable Butler Quest Details: I've always longed to go hunting in the jungle! However, if a huge monster appeared, I'd be finished! Maybe you could take out the Daimyo Hermitaur for me? Walkthrough: Other than getting a glimpse of what the Crab does in the enemy section, the only real thing you can do to prepare for this mission is make a choice. If you want all you can get from this Crab, bring a hammer. If not, bring anything you want. This is because its shell can really only be smashed with a hammer... other than that, you should only need a few potions... and that's only if you get greedy and trade blows... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Master of the Giant Lake Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 2400z/400z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Green Plesioth Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Hunt the Green Plesioth Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Master Shipwright Quest Details: Hunt down the water wyvern that keeps harassing my shipyard! Your target is a monster covered in green scales that is more powerful than its cousin! Heh heh! Walkthrough: If you are trying this mission, you all ready know what do to. Bring Frogs (and use them ALL the time for when he isn't aware of you) and many sonic bombs (and items to make them in your inventory). The good news is, if you don't have frogs, you can get in from a rock in the 3rd area. Now for the Plessy itself. You'll only find it in Area's 3 or 4. Which is good, since you'll always see it. Now in area 4, make sure to get rid of those annoying raptors... they can make fishing hard. Other than that, you may want to take a shock trap for this bastard... he can get quite hard once you get him to critical health... mostly because sonic bombs won't work on the first try and he will constantly jump back to the water. There is good news and bad news about the new terrain. Area 3 isn't bad, but Area 4 doesn't give you too much room to avoid that water beam. The good news is that once he comes up, he won't have a lot of room to run around. Using a bow is a good idea, but DO NOT kill him in the water. That is all... Besides that, if you killed the first one, this one is just more of the same. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~A Swarm of Hermitaurs Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 900z/150z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Day) Main Monsters: Congalala Hermitaur Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Slay 10 Hermitaurs Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Jungle Fisherman Quest Details: Fishing is no easy endeavor, but lately things have gotten out of hand! While unloading my ship, a swarm of Hermitaurs appeared. Slay 10 of them and let me to get on with my work! Walkthrough: Nothing too hard about this... just check all the non-cave areas for them. Don't forget area 10... or the massive amount of mushrooms that could be found there. Don't bother with the big monkey... he will make this rather quick and easy mission too long to be worth it. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Purple Poison Menace Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 2100z/350z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Purple Gypceros Velociprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Hunt the Purple Gypceros Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Guarded Merchant Quest Details: I saw a gigantic bird-like monster deep in the jungle! It scared everyone so bad that I can't do business with a thing like that out there! Please hunt it down so I can work in peace! Walkthrough: Nothing too different from the normal fight. In fact, a bit easier since you don't have to worry about poison marshes like the other fight. In the same manner, just take a weapon that can block and antidotes. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Lurking Desert Giant Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1800z/300z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Desert (Day) Main Monsters: Daimyo Hermitaur Genprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Hunt the Daimyo Hermitaur Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Lynian Clan Leader Quest Details: When some of my clan went gathering in the desert, they were attacked by an enormous crab, nya! As long as he's around, we can't do business. Help us, nya! Walkthrough: The same Crab as the other mission, only you will usually have a lot more room to dodge... unless you fight it in 9 and especially in 10. Any ways, make sure you have cool drinks... but if you know what you are doing and use a hammer you will be able to kill it WAY before that time. Good Luck. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Water Wyvern in the Desert Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 2100z/350z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Desert (Day) Main Monsters: Plesioth Special Conditions: No Quest Level: *** Goal Condition: Hunt the Plesioth Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Proud Hunter Quest Details: I found a giant water wyvern in a cave in the desert! I can't defeat it because it stays underwater. Slay it for me and the glory is all yours! Walkthrough: Ok, first off, I STRONGLY suggest you look at my enemy section. Yes, I spam it a lot in my own guide... but should give you a good insight on this monster. Although the monster isn't hard to survive (especially if you use my strategies found in that enemy section), but like the Details say... it stays under water. For this mission, I suggest taking hot drinks (you'll use the quick entrance to area 6 from the starting point, and you'll need these so you have stamina), Frogs, Sonic bombs... and a shock trap (with tranq bombs) if you want all the help you can get. Now it will go to 6 and 7 all the time. That is all. Now, ALWAYS start off with fishing... but only after clearing the area from enemies (6 has crabs and 7 has herbies... WHICH must die... don't think they won't nudge you right when you're about to real in the biggest ****ing wyvern in the game!) Now, attack however you want once he is out... whether you get him out by fishing or sonic bombing him out. It's your choice... hack his feet for consistent moderate damage... or wait to counter attack his head after the water attack... which is inconsistent HEAVY damage. The choice is yours... Use the shock trap once his fin goes down, then chuck 2 tranq bombs at him. A remember, if you use a bow, you can peg him in the water. Just make sure you don't kill him in there. Exterminate it for us! Its poison can melt crops, so be careful it doesn't melt you. Walkthrough: Nothing too hard to deal with... in fact, I consider this one of the easiest Wyverns in the game... for one, you can literally attack the insides of his legs without fear of getting hurt... and if you break his head crest, you will get ample time... to even cook meat in front of him! Any ways, make sure that is the first think you go for. For prep, make sure you have a weapon that can block and some antidotes handy. If you did, this one is just as easy... maybe easier since you probably gotten a bit better from then and have better equips. Regardless, take sonic bombs if you think you can't handle him... and also take antidotes in case you step in the swamp. It sleeps in area 2. I fought him mainly in 2 and 3... but really killed him too quick to notice were he really went to. If you frequent these areas enough you'll find him eventually... just make sure you paint him in case he runs away. By this time... There should be enough gathering points to get them all in those areas. If you don't have enough from some odd reason, look to areas 3 and 4. But really... did you come to this FAQ to read up on this mission? Avoid the Yian Kut-Ku to make this mission easier. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Elder Rank 3-4 Intermission Ok so you killed that big monkey and made it to the 4 star quests. Care to test yourself? I'd like you to hunt down the chief of the snowy mountains. Remember, on this quest negligence is unforgivable. Walkthrough: Other than me saying to look at the enemy section for this easy (in my opinion) enemy, you'll need a few supplies. Mainly Hot Drinks (two may not be enough), and paint. He does jump around a lot... and can actually scratch it off. Other than that, if you a circling him, he will never hit you and you have a ton of time to counter attack Vs all of his "snow" based attacks. Combine with the fact that he doesn't have a lot of life, he shouldn't pose to much of a problem. If you have a fire weapon, you can break his fangs. Walkthrough: If you killed the Khezu before in the mountains, this one shouldn't be too much of a problem. Although he has more health, you will be fighting him in a larger area. In other words, you won't be getting cornered too often. Other than that, he can cling to the ceiling in the Swamp... easy to avoid if you aren't blind, it more or less just wastes your time. For items, make sure you have a couple antidotes in case you step in the poison and a hot drink if you plan to fight him in the cave. It has downed many a hunter, so take care as you hunt it! Walkthrough: First of all, to unlock this mission, I'm pretty sure you need to kill at least 10 Yian Kut-Ku. If by small chance you can't do that, I know you can download one from the internet. Any ways, before stepping into this mission, make sure you have the sharpest weapon you can have, a ton a whetstones, healing, and antidotes. Now this bird is half Yian Kut-Ku and half Rathian. The Rathian, you haven't fought yet, but she isn't hard. Any ways, I can say that I'm good at the game... the time I fought this guy, I was down to my last healing item and with under two minutes left on the clock. What does that tell you? Come back to this mission if you can't do it right away... there is no hurry. If not, you can wing it. Remember all of the sonic bombs I told you to save during the Yian Kut-Ku and giant Crab fight? Use them now if you desire... but they are still unneeded. A Monoblos is tearing through the desert near my village of Kokoto. Please hunt it down for us! Walkthrough: Although I'm going to tell you the number one thing to bring in for this mission (besides a printable version of my enemy section), but you should try to fend this beast off without them. This is the mission I consider the "how well you will do in the rest of the game" mission. In fact, it's the first mission were I ALWAYS take a shield. There are times when he will be far away... and pull off a near undodgable charge. Now, first you'll have to find him. Sometimes he will be under the sand and you can't see him... so make sure you brought a couple of psycho serums to help locate him... once you do, use paint so you don't lose him. He can only be in areas 1, 2, 3, 5, and 9 by the way. 3 and 9 are the good places to fight him in... because you can make him get stuck in the rocks (either by climbing the area in 9, or staying on the opposite end of the big rock in 3... or just do it like me, block facing him right next to the rock... you'll take a little damage, but you'll be closer thus being able to get in more attacks) When he is stuck, make sure you remember, if you go to break his horns, and actually do, he won't get stuck any more. For items, make sure to bring a lot of healing (a max potion isn't necessary, but can help if you find yourself taking too much damage). Also, this should be your first mission in the night desert, so make sure to bring a couple of hot drinks. Now that item that destroys him? Sonic bombs. If you use them while he JUST goes underground, he will pop out and you'll be able to do a lot of damage to him. Use these if you are about to die, or time is getting low... just make sure you remember that he can't be stunned while in his rage mode as seen by his black breath. An old enemy has cut our hunters down to the last man... I fled to tell you that the silver horned White Monoblos terrorizes us once again! Rid us of it! Walkthrough: If you can kill the one above, this one shouldn't give you much of a problem. The only difference is the amount of health this guy has... and you guessed it... much more than the regular Blos. Other than that, take cool drinks this time, everything else should be the same. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Supreme Ruler of the Swamp Type ------- Supreme Ruler of the Swamp Reward ----- 3000z/500z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Swamp (Day) Main Monsters: Shogun Ceanataur Hornetaur Special Conditions: No Quest Level: **** Goal Condition: Hunt the Shogun Ceanataur Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Scheming Strategist Quest Details: Hunters! It is time to hunt down the Shogun Ceanataur. Let us rid the swamp zone of this menace and expand our strategic possibilities. This is a highly classified hunt. So don't tell a soul! Walkthrough: If you can kill the other giant crab, he shouldn't pose too much of a problem. The main differences are that he has LONG range... but when he attacks you from the front he can sometimes miss as it's just a downward strike. True is, he doesn't do life threatening damage... so you shouldn't need too much help for this guy. Remember, if you want to break his shell, a hammer is the way to go. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Trapped by Yian Kut-Ku Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 3000z/500z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Swamp (Night) Main Monsters: Yian Kut-Ku Blue Yian Kut-Ku Special Conditions: No Quest Level: **** Goal Condition: Hunt the Yian Kut-Ku and Blue Yian Kut-Ku Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Beautiful Lady Quest Details: The Yian Kut-Ku are circling, screaming in their shrill voices. Everyone is trapped inside the town! Please do something. Walkthrough: You should have a lot of practice with these guys all ready... so not too much can be said that you don't all ready know. One thing to note, is that they have a bit lower health than if they were in their own little mission. I do recommend taking one at a time... and ONLY fighting one at a time. To aid you if you are having trouble, take shock traps/sonic bombs and utterly destroy one of them. It will be quick... and you can smooth sail the rest of the mission. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Ioprey Leader Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 1800z/300z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Volcano (Day) Main Monsters: Iodrome Ioprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: **** Goal Condition: Hunt the Iodrome Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Hardened Mercenary Quest Details: We were just in a fight with a pack of Ioprey, but were routed and had to retreat before we could defeat their leader. Hunt it down for us, but beware of its poison attacks. Walkthrough: Nothing has changed for these raptor "Dromes". Any ways, just make sure you have a couple of antidotes... cool drinks are an option, but it shouldn't take more than the 2 they give you to complete the mission. Where did it come from? Please slay it! Walkthrough: You'll want to bring antidotes, cool drinks, and if you want an easier time, as many bombs as you want... the bigger the better. The first thing you have to do is find him. Use just one psycho serum to find the area he is in... as most likely he will be half under ground.. throw a paint ball at him to not only mark him, but to safely get him out of the ground... don't forget to collect your shiny drop. Remember, he looks like a rock, and blends in really well. Now, before even using bombs or attacking him, try your best to bait him into the rocks by standing on the other side of them. You'll want to do this as much as you can, because once his chest plate is off, you'll do massive damage to him. For weapons, you really could use anything... but a bow will let you happily snipe him... and doing so, you shouldn't get hit... he is very predictable. But some Ceanataurs smashed my Pickaxe! If you don't get rid of them, there will be no digging for me! Help me! Walkthrough: Nothing too hard... just make sure to use at least one of the cool drinks in the chest and carve the remains for a few Pokke Points. Also, you may as well kill the Iodrome... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~More Coal Please Type ------- Gathering Quest Reward ----- 1200z/200z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Volcano (Day) Main Monsters: Shogun Ceanataur Ioprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: **** Goal Condition: Deliver 15 pcs of Coal Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Fort Guard Quest Details: We need Coal to power our ambush spear cannon. Go to the Volcanic Belt and mine the reserves there! If you're worried about Pickaxes, combine a long cylindrical bone and a rock. Walkthrough: Nothing too hard... in fact pretty easy. Just make sure you have all the iron pick axes you can carry... use the cool drink and head left to the first hot area. Mine... Mine... Mine some more... almost every time you pick you will get coal. The only annoying part is that you'll have to go back to base because you can't hold more than 10 pieces of coal. Also, avoid fighting the giant Crab... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Elder Dragon of Wind (or The Frozen Dictator) Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 4500z/750z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle OR Snowy Mountains (both at Night) Main Monsters: Kushala Daora Special Conditions: No Quest Level: **** Goal Condition: Slay the Kushala Daora Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Jungle Psychic (or Fleeing Villager) Quest Details: These was surely a vortex inside of that downpour. The wind wrapped around and revealed Kushala Daora! I don't foresee anyone defeating it. Weaken it and then drive it away! (or I saw it! I saw it! In the middle of a blinding snow storm, there is was dark black wings were dancing in the sky... No mere human could stand up to it! Don't even think of hunting it!) Walkthrough: First off, Elder Dragon missions are all random... but you will usually get him in the Mountains first. First thing to remember is you don't have to kill it on your first try... only last 25 minutes with it... this is assuming you are actually doing damage to it. For items to take, make sure you have a lot of healing, and hot drinks/ thawing agents for the mountain. For weapons... I doubt you have a dragon elemental weapon yet, so take a lightning one for decent damage. Now, you're primary goal is to break his horns so his wind shield stops. Other than using the poison daggers to get in a few moments of free attacks in, you'll want to hit his head after his wind gust attack. Even if you do a little damage to him, as long as you break his head the first time you fight him, you'll have no trouble killing him. In fact, he is rather easy without it since he has no defense on his sides. Once you make him leave (chances are, you won't be killing him on your first try) do a couple of missions and you'll eventually see him come back in the jungle mission. I would highly recommend killing this guy until you get so Elder Dragon blood... it's rare, but can make sure Dragon Elemental weapons early. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Elder Rank 4-5 Intermission Now, since you killed the Monoblos and the Tigrex, you should have a taste of what's to come. Make sure you are now make many different weapons to match up elemental weaknesses since some of these mission take some time... many with two bosses to kill. To unlock the Urgent mission "Troublesome Pair" make sure to beat these missions: The Poison Siege The Runaway Diablos Ultimate Crab Dinner Terror of the Gravios [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Absolute Power Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4500z/750z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Night) Main Monsters: Tigrex Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Hunt the Tigrex Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Pokke Village Chief Quest Details: The Tigrex, said to be an ancestor of today's wyverns, has finally made an appearances. With such a powerful beast on the loose, the village is not safe. Hunt it down at once! Walkthrough: In my opinion, the hardest monster, pound for pound in the game... and I would consider this the "Final Mission"... so if you beat this mission, consider it a game winning one as you finally kicked the shit out of that bastard that got you in the beginning. Any ways, make sure you have Mega Potions, on top of 10 potions and herbs. 3 Hot drinks, Armor/Power Seeds, and if you need them, try to make a max potion or two. I strongly suggest going for the capture in this mission... (shock trap and at least two tranq bombs), this is because once he is injured, not only will he go into his unstoppable rage mode more often, but he'll be in that tiny cave (area 3). Also, you may want to take flash bombs... now I never used them for him either, but I heard it can be a good defense for his rage mode. Now once the mission starts, he will be somewhere at the summit (area 6, 7, or 8). If you took the flash bombs, use them till you get his tail off... his tail comes off rather easy and reduces his tail sweep range incredibly. Not for equips... a shield and a thunder weapon will do you good. I prefer a shield against him in the mountains because sometimes you'll enter an area... and he'll charge... and you really can't dodge him all the time. It is extra important to block and not get hit... it isn't uncommon for him to hit you twice... even three times in a row. Other than that, make sure you don't try to be a hero when he is mad... starting by his damaging roar and red veins. If you take damage, never try to use an item in front of him... unless you are using a Sword and Shield since you don't need to put it away to eat a potion. If you want to farm him for his well sought after armors, I suggest fighting him in the desert... MUCH MUCH easier to handle in the wider areas. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Legendary Kirin Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 4500z/750z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Night) Main Monsters: Kirin Blango Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Slay the Kirin Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Mountain Explorer Quest Details: That must have been the phantom beast... The faint glow, and how it seemed to glide over land... There's no doubt that amazing riches await its slayer! Walkthrough: First off, like all the "Elder Dragons" this mission randomly appears. I don't agree with the Elder title... so I will refer to it as a pony from here on out. The Kirin is not much bigger than a "Raptor" drome, but is worlds more annoying. In fact, all I can tell you to do is watch the lightning it summons to find an opening... looking at my enemy section will show you all the ways it can come down. Now for this mission, just make sure to take Hot drinks and pile on as much lightning defense as possible. Also, when even it's safe, you should aim for the head... as hitting the body the entire time will actually take a ridiculous amount of time for its small body size. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Two Roars in the Snow Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 5100z/850z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Snowy Mountains (Day) Main Monsters: 2 Blangongas Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Hunt 2 Blangongas Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Alpine Survivor Quest Details: It happed in an instant... Two Blangongas destroyed all the trees around my house. Now all I want to do is hunt them down so I can get my revenge. Please help me! Walkthrough: If you faired decent with the other Snow Monkey, this mission just as two of them. Now they like to stay in generally the same areas... so it can be hard to separate them. In fact, it can come down to luck. Just make sure you aim for one, and don't worry about doing anything fancy... just use the items you can to make things easier and just wail on his sides. For the first one, don't worry about getting hit once and a while... the important thing to do is to take one out quickly. Make sure you have some hot drinks... I doubt you'll kill them with just the two they give you. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Poison Siege Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 3600z/600z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Gypceros Purple Gypceros Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Hunt the Gypceros and Purple Gypceros Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Selfish Princess Quest Details: Two poisonous fowl have appeared in the jungle. With them there, the jungle flowers will surely wilt and die! Go kill them... Now! Walkthrough: If you know how to fight these guys, this will be a fun mission... they both have lower hit points than the usual one. Any ways, I recommend taking a shield so they don't keep flashing you. And remember, don't stick around too long if both are in the same area. They have a large range of areas they can be, so you won't have to look long. Just go for the head as often as you can to break that crest. Regardless if you do or not, always attack between his legs to minimize damage to yourself and maximize damage to him. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Tigrex's Roar Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4500z/750z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Desert (Day) Main Monsters: Tigrex Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Hunt the Tigrex Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Guild Messenger Quest Details: I have an urgent request from a hunter on an expedition in the desert! It seems he has encountered the mighty Tigrex! Go to his aid and crush this best at once! Walkthrough: Did you kill him on the mountains? You did? Ok, there are two differences in this fight then. Cool drinks instead of hot drinks... and the areas you fight him in are so much bigger and easier to fight him in. Although you wont be able to counter attack that often from his charges (as walls usually won't stop him) you also won't be getting cheap shotted. You will find him in the two large sand areas (2 and 5 I believe) and when he gets injured, he will move to area 9 to sleep. I still would highly recommend putting him in the sleeper hold (shock trap, then tranq bombs) because that area is small. Just make sure you kill those annoying brown dinos in that area before you wake them up... I actually missed the timing on the second tranq bomb because one them head butted me... great times. We need to find and kill it before it cause any more trouble! Walkthrough: Fight him in the same manner as the Monoblos. The only difference is you have to break his horns twice to get credit for them. Other than that, cool drinks, healing, and sonic bombs if you need an edge. But what we found was no mere Diablos! We must slay that black horned wyvern! No matter what! One is never enough, so hunt down two! Walkthrough: Use what you know in this mission what you learned in the previous encounters with those giant crabs. The good news is they have reduced health since there are two... but since there are two you REALLY have to watch out you don't get gang banged. If you find yourself with not enough time for this mission, make sure to use sonic bombs to your advantage... this will allow you to eliminate them quicker. Also, with a hammer... you can literally kill one before your hot drink wears off... so happy hunting. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Black Rock in the Swamp Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4800z/800z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Swamp (Night) Main Monsters: Black Gravios Hornetaur Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Hunt the Black Gravios Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Swap Townsman Quest Details: Even in the relative calm of the swamp zone, something has stirred up the monsters. In particular, heavily armored wyverns have been attacking us. Can you help us out? Walkthrough: Well take what you know about the regular Gravios from the other mission... place it in one where you don't need drinks and don't have to worry about him running into lava... that's a good thing right? Nope... it's raining out. So not only don't you have those extra free hit explosion hits from the volcanic rocks... but YOU CAN'T USE BOMBS! Although you can use lightning rods... they don't seem all that great... so if you are using melee weapons, expect this mission to take EXTRA LONG... there is a good chance you'll be hitting the "Hurry the hell up there is just 10 minutes left" mark... I think that's what it says :P Or you could make a fancy water bow... I did the Gathering hall mission with a bow... forget the name... but if you see him going to area 4, try to get to the area 2 exit so you are on the ledge... YOU CAN GET BIG FREE DAMAGE HERE. Now, when I say big free damage... I'm talking I put at least 5 minutes worth of about 500 arrows... probably a lot more... but you get the point. If you do get lucky like that, make sure you stand at the edge of the area 4/2 border so you don't get hit by the beam... I'm not entirely sure what the enemies where in that area... but I some how remember congas and Vespoids. Now assuming you still are using that bow, if you are down on ground level with him, it's much easier to break his chest plate... once you do, try your best to hit it. The bad thing about that bow is that it shoots multiple shots if you don't charge it... and I can assume that individually they don't do a lot of damage... so charge up when going of the chest. Keep in mind, I DO NOT CLAIM I KNOW HOW TO USE A BOW... I simply did it once for a Gravios + Raining Swamp mission. If you do plan on going for melee, do your best to hit him ALL THE TIME. You REALLY need to capitalize during every time you could... like during his beam attack. Don't forget to hit his wings during any of his fart attack. For more help, either scroll down two mission to the regular Gravios fight or the enemy section for some pointers. (The bow is actually the Daimyo's Warbow III... just so you know it takes a few Lobster Shells to make... which means you get to fight your friend the Plessy!) [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Seeking the Strange Mask Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 3000z/500z Time Limit - 30 Minutes Location --- Forest & Hills Main Monsters: Blue Yian Kut-Ku Shakalaka Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Slay 5 Shakalakas Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Princess' Attendant Quest Details: This is awful! The princess saw some strange masked monsters that made her run for the hills! We're sending troops on a hunt for the fiends, so track down the masked marauders! Walkthrough: Just so you know what you are looking for... they are little pumpkin headed cleaver wielding midgets. They usually hide under mushrooms... so look for the big read ones. Just search all over... you have 30 minutes to do so. I have no idea why they give a different time limit, but since they do, I wouldn't kill the Blue Yian Kut-Ku. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Terror of the Gravios Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4200z/700z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Volcano (Day) Main Monsters: Gravios Ioprey Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Hunt the Gravios Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Troubled Noble Quest Details: A fearsome Gravios has appeared amidst the magma and desolation of the Volcanic Belt. Hunt down the fire breather for us! Walkthrough: Remember the Basarios? Well hopefully you remember how to fight him... since this thing will use the SAME exact moves... besides that, his beam always comes out. Oh... and did I forget to mention that it's about twice the size? It makes him difficult because of this. Now a lot of people suggest using a hammer... but I can't. A bow (water bow, Daimyo Warbow III) could be good since he is easy to stay away from and it solves the question on how to reach his tender belly that's up so high. If you use a melee weapon, you really need to crunch in the damage to make sure you don't run out of time. The sharper the weapon, the better. Aim for the stomach as much as possible, and once you break the chest plate... HIT IS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. For items to bring... surprisingly for such a big enemy, you really don't need to many healing items... but take them just incase, because you will get sloppy at the end when trying to deal the final blow. Make sure to take a few cool drinks, whetstones, and bombs if you don't think you'll do a lot of damage. The bombs should be used in the same manner as those volcanic rocks... BAIT him into them. This is a VERY good way to whittle away that chest plate... but I can't stress enough on how much you need to focus on hitting it. If you see him limping, don't be afraid to use a shock trap and tranq bombs to end it even faster. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Check the Ancient Tower Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 3000Z/500z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Tower Main Monsters: Remobra Great Thunderbug Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Slay 10 Remobras Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Wyvernian Maiden Quest Details: A relic of olden days, the ancient tower is now off-limits. Those examining it should beware the danger posed by the Remobras. They must be defeated before entering the tower! Walkthrough: Nothing hard, but you'll soon find out why I think the Remobras are one of the most annoying enemies in the game... they fly and have a lot of health... and surprisingly have hard skin as well. They can poison you and swoop in when you least expect it. The good news is that you actually have to kill them... as they are more dangerous when you aren't paying attention. Just grab your favorite weapon and hit them in the tail while they fly... sometimes you'll knock them down for a nice "lol". There should be a couple before the tower entrance, several in both the spiral staircases, and many at the top. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Overseer of the Ancients (or The Empress' Blazing Throne) Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 5400z/900z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Tower or Volcano (Both at Day Main Monsters: Lunastra Remobra (Only in Tower) Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Slay the Lunastra Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Scarlet Mystery Man (or Elder Dragon Scholar) Quest Details: Near the forbidden ancient tower, the Lunastra, empress of the elder dragons, is building a nest. Hunters! Who among you can defeat this ancient beast!? Exhibit your true skills! (or We've received a communique from headquarters. An elder dragon has appeared in the Volcanic Belt. Fight the dragon and collect data on its behavior!) Walkthrough: First off, you will usually fight her in the volcano area first... which is good since it will make you familiar with her moves. I choose to write her strategy based in the tower. The reason the tower is much different is for one giant reason... YOU CAN NOT LEAVE THE TOP AREA! The only exceptions are if you are dead. So obviously anything that will work for the tower will work for the volcano. Now you'll need these items... A dragon based weapon (trust me, it's worth it), fire resist if possible, whetstones, a lot of healing, Mega armor skins/demon drugs, a max potion, and a meat (Or just an ancient potion). The immunizer is also a good choice, but that's in the chest. Ok, the idea is to go all the way to the top of the tower... and use all your items there... so you have a more attack/defense/life/stamina/regeneration. This may seem steep (Hell I didn't even know about armor skins and demon drugs before I did this mission :( ) but since you can't leave the area till the mission is over or if you die, you don't want to be using a lot of items. In the event you do want to use an item, use them at mid range when she does that fire burst/explosion attack. You can safely eat Mega Potions and even sharpen! For actually fighting her you'll want to only attack her when you can aim for the Crown. This is what the dragon weapon is for... to break it a lot quicker. Now, if you broke it in the volcano, that's awesome... but if you killed her in the volcano, and this mission popped out first, you are going to have some fun! Since you'll be taking continual damage and can't really get in a safe spot... you can expect some really annoying situations. Now like I will always say... go for the Crown and don't worry about cutting off the tail till you're second time going through the mission since she has to be at low health in order to do so. These things also work for Teostra, so refer to this mission or her strategy in the enemy section for him as well. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Towards the Silence (or The Elder Dragon of Mist) Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 5100z/850z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Swamp OR Forest & Hills (Both at Day) Main Monsters: Chameleos Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ***** Goal Condition: Slay the Chameleos Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Grim Aristocrat (or Injured Hero) Quest Details: It seems an unknown elder dragon has appeared in the swamp zone. However, no one truly got a clear look at it. What could the beast have been? Slay it, but proceed with caution! (or Our intuition told us to turn around, but we thought no one was there... Yet even though no once should've been there, we were attacked from behind! Beware! It was an enemy never before seen!) Walkthrough: I'm just first off saying... this guy is easy as pie. But he can be really annoying if you don't have the right gear. You have to make a choice first and foremost: Do you want parts of him or just the kill? If you want just the kill, like I usually go for when dealing with him, you'll need one thing: Auto-Tracker. It won't show where he is in an area, but it will show you what area he is in. Hopefully you kill the Tigrex enough times to make some of his armor combined with Psychic Jewels to get +15 in psychic vision. Once you know what area he is in, all you have to is wait for some clue to find him. Usually it's his tail thumping attack, so look for dust circles. Once you do locate him, hammer on sides as much as possible. His only really defense he has is a rarely done poison move... so you'll need to bring antidotes. Also you'll need a sharp weapon and a lot of whetstones to keep up the damage as he has hard skin. That's pretty much all you have to do for a repel at 25 minutes or possibly the kill. Now if you want to cut his tail or break his horn, you may need a paralyzing weapon and a few sonic bombs. Use the sonic bombs when he is attacking to make them work. Now he does actually attack you once the battle music appears... and although he attacks and moves more often, he's easier to find do to the green breaths he will take. But the goal still remains the same... attack his sides. You usually fight him in the Forest and Hills first... but nothing really changes. I recently found out that once his cloak is off, you will not bounce off that much. You keep that in mind. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Elder Rank 5-6 Intermission The only thing I *know* you can unlock at this point is a few harder enemies... not sure which ones, but I heard it involves killing 2 of each enemy. Unfortunately I only need to kill one my Teostra before my PSP broke... so can't give you too much input on those. These missions are the hardest of the elder missions, and might take a few times to complete. If you have trouble with them, don't be afraid to move on to the Gathering Hall to get yourself some better equips or simply more experience onto how to play. *I did find out that you will unlock the Gaint Gen Crab if you kill 2 of each enemy. If you kill him in this mission, you will get to try your luck at the Dual Rajang fight... I will update this section once I get a new PSP.* [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~A Troublesome Pair Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 8400z/1400z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Forest & Hills Main Monsters: Rathalos Rathian Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Hunt the Rathalos and Rathian Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Pokke Village Chief Quest Details: A pair of fire wyverns have taken up residence in the hillside. If you are able to hunt them by yourself, you are truly a top class hunter. Care to try your luck? Walkthrough: Ok, before going into this mission, you may want to take the mission in the gathering hall dealing with just the Rathalos. He has a few cheap attack you need to get yourself orientated with. Such as his reverse flying fire ball, learning to ALWAYS stand in his shadow, and his charge... it also helps to learn how to cut his tail. Now the Rathian isn't too hard... she is much like the Yian Garuga, in fact they have pretty much the moves... the only difference besides size is that the Rathian doesn't have any really hard bounce off spots and spins in both directions. Now back to the mission at hand. You need to take out the Rathalos first... he's harder and once you do, it should be smooth sailing from there in on. Like most other dual bosses fight mission, YOU DO NOT WANT THEM IN THE SAME AREA. The Rathalos mainly is seen in 2, 3, 4, and 6. I usually find the Rathian in 4, 5, and 9. This means ALWAYS watch out for the Rathian coming into to the area while in 4... it's about the only spot I see them together. For actually killing the Rathalos, you should first start by getting off his tail. If you are using my enemy section way below and attacking it at the times I say something like "Great time to attack his tail". It shouldn't take long. Once that is off, you can hit his sides a bit better... YOU NEVER WANT TO ATTACK HIS FRONT because of that charge. The only time you should really be attacking his front if he falls over or does that bite attack. For items to bring, LOTS of potions (max potion isn't needed... but you may want to consider it), meat, a shock trap or two (Genprey Fang + Trap Tool), mayby an antidote... but you shouldn't need them if you play it safe, and flash bombs if you don't think you'll kill that Rathalos quick enough. Again, if you practice on him in the gathering hall and could actually kill that one, this one shouldn't be too hard. In fact, he will die rather easy. Once he is out of the way, it's off to the Rathian... which is by far easier. Good luck and remember, one of the keys to this fight... and pretty much all the harder missions to come is to not get hit and hit them when they can't hit you back. You can't take many charges... hell two in a row not only does a ton of damage, but with most likely stun you too. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Dual Plesioth Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4500z/750z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Day) Main Monsters: Plesioth Green Plesioth Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Hunt the Plesioth and Green Plesioth Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Lovely Princess Quest Details: The water wyvern known as Plesioth is raging in the jungle. And not just one of them! Head off immediately to slay them! Walkthrough: Now, I hate the Plessy... but I love this mission! Don't let people on the message boards scare you about this mission... it actually doesn't matter where the other one is... either on land with you or in the water. Now before we get into strategies, you'll need some items. For a weapon, I did this mission with a lot of time left with just the Kirin Bolt Indra (The thunder weapon that uses no actual Kirin body parts). I didn't need special armor, but if you can't pay attention to the both Plessies, make sure to take water resistant armor. For actual item items... take lots of healing, some meat, 3 shock traps (1 actual shocker, then 2 trap tools + 2 Genprey Fangs), and 30 Sonic bombs (10 actual sonics, 20 screamer + 20 Gunpowder). Don't forget book of combos as well. Now personally, I didn't use a shock trap at all and only used 12 Sonic bombs (10 of my own and 2 from the chest). Only one frog is needed as once you piss them both off, it's kind of pointless to wait till they BOTH lose their attention in you. Know your goal is to always have a Plessy out of the water... the good news with having two of them, you'll have something to whack at the majority of the time instead of waiting. Now if one leaves the area, he won't be coming back for a while, so focus on the other one. If one is in the water and one is on land, risk going close and attack the legs from the farthest point from shore to avoid water beams. You also want to go there to be able to face the shore to spot any vertical water beams. Now if both are on land you'll be using my favorite way to kill these guys (and if you read the enemy section down below, you would know it's to counter attack ONLY the water beam attack). Since one will be farther away from you, he'll only do that attack, so going for the cut on the closer one, always make sure the one behind him isn't doing the same thing. And of course, if one starts to run away, the good news is you don't have to follow it... just start attacking the other one. Good luck and remember to always know where they both are... Auto Tracker can help, but there are only two areas they can travel too. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Pink Dance in the Jungle Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4500z/750z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Jungle (Night) Main Monsters: Pink Rathian Hermitaur Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Hunt the Pink Rathian Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Uncomfortable Butler Quest Details: I've always longed to be a hunter, but a meeting with a Rathian ended that! Now that I know what it takes, I'll start over, but you have the spirit to hunt down that Rathian! Walkthrough: This mission is a joke if you got to these Urgent Quests in the first place. The Rathian isn't that dangerous... and the pink one just sports more health and a faster rage mode. Again, if you got here in the first place (meaning that you killed both the Rathalos and the Rathian) this shouldn't be too much of a problem. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Four Horns Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 9900z/1650z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Desert (Night) Main Monsters: Diablos Black Diablos Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Hunt the Diablos and Black Diablos Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Lovely Princess Quest Details: I simply can't bear to think about the terror and pain those Diablos are causing my people. I can't sleep at night with that worry! Hunt down those 2 Diablos for me! Walkthrough: In my opinion, the hardest mission in the Elder section "itemless." Not counting the things you always bring... Hot Drinks, meats, and potions... I'm talking about the sonic bombs. You see, this mission is doable without them... it will just come down to mad luck since one on two is impossible. So, if you want to make things easier for yourself, you'll need to do 3 things. 1. Take 30 Sonic bombs (10 actual sonics, 20 screamer + 20 Gunpowder). 2. Get the Auto Tracker armor skill (+15 with Psychic Vision). 3. Abuse the hell out of bullfighting (getting their horns stuck) Now the first thing you have to do is pick a color... the white one is easier to kill, so go for him... now fight him how you usually would. If you are in an area where you can get their horns stuck, do that as much as possible. Now once he goes under ground, pop off a sonic bomb to get in a bunch of free damage. You can continue this up until he is dead... just make sure not to use one while he has black breath as it won't work. Once he is dead, the mission becomes so much easier... you could either use the rest of your sonic bombs on the other one or kill him the old fashion way. Just remember, if you see one surface while fighting the other, GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE! You do not want to fight two at once... it's too hard. One funny thing is if one roars while one is under ground, the one from the underground will pop up as if it was hit with a sonic bomb :D [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Emperor of Flame (Random) Type ------- Slaying Quest Reward ----- 6000z/1500z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Volcano (Night) Main Monsters: Teostra Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Slay the Teostra Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Heroic General Quest Details: I have an earnest request of you... I want you to fight the elder fire dragon we cornered in the Volcanic Belt! Weaken it with your repeated counterattacks and then finally slay the beast. Walkthrough: Remember Lunastra? [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~The Shogun's Encampment Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 6000z/1500z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Volcano (Day) Main Monsters: 2 Shogun Ceanataurs Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Hunt 2 Shogun Ceanataurs Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Hunter in Training Quest Details: Hey! Hey! Have you heard the news!? There's a rumor that two enormous monsters with thick shells have appeared in the Volcanic Belt! There must be a hunter somewhere who can face them! Walkthrough: Nothing really too difficult in this fight. Not only do they have lower health than the other Shogun's you have fought, but those Volcano/Exploding rocks can do a lot of damage to them. Choose what ever weapon you want, but if you use a strong hammer, you'll most likely keep them in one of those repeating falling loop. Just make sure to take a few cool drinks incase you need to take your time... and you usually fight them in the first hot area... so don't be afraid to run away and take a nap if you get hurt too much... [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] ~Attack of the Rathalos Type ------- Hunting Quest Reward ----- 4800z/800z Time Limit - 50 Minutes Location --- Forest & Hills Main Monsters: Azure Rathalos Special Conditions: No Quest Level: ****** Goal Condition: Hunt the Azure Rathalos Fail Condition: Reward Zero Time Over Client: Proud Soldier Quest Details: It cannot be... We tried so hard to kill it... But... My entire war band was wiped out by a wyvern. Now it all rests upon your shoulders, monster hunter! Slay it! Walkthrough: Just like the pink Rathian, this guy shouldn't be too different than the last time you fought him. The sole difference is that it will like to relax in area 9 A LOT... and that means it will not only be tough to move around in, but there are also lots of trees blocking your view. Once he is out of there, he isn't that hard... but make sure
