X-Men: Mutant Academy Instruction Manual written exclusively for *Cheat Code Central* at http://www.cheatcc.com/ by Adam Holwerda adholwenda@hotmail.com X-MEN: MUTANT ACADEMY GAME CONTROLS Soft Kick = X Medium Kick = O Hard Kick = R2 Soft Punch = [] Medium Punch = TRIANGLE Hard Punch = R1 Jump = ^ Move Left = > Move Right = < Crouch = DOWN Block = L1 Throw = L2 Alternate Throw = > + L2 Swap Throw = < + L2 To select menu options, use the directional buttons up/down to navigate through the menu options, highlight the desired option, nd press the X button to accept. Screens w/out will list buttons to press at the bottom of the menu. GAME RESET To abort a game in progress, press the START button to pause the game, the choose EXIT GAME. Soft Reset You can reset to the X-Men : Mutant Academy Main menu screen at any time during gameplay by pressing and holding the START button ant the SELECT button. THE BIRTH OF THE X-MEN Mutations have ocurred since life began. It was inevitable that eventually mutations would result in beings with extaordinary abilities. These are the mutants: men and women whose actual genetic structure endows rthem with super-human powers. A mutant named Charles Xavier has formed a team of these mutants called the X-Men. Professor Xavier has made it his life's work to train the X-Men to use their powers for good. But still, some of those born with an ordinary genome hate and fear the X-Men. These unusual warriors learn to protect those that reject them. In the the X-Men: Mutant Academy, each and every mutant must prove his or her worth in battle against the others. They must learn, To harness their rage and utilize their individual special powers. MAIN MENU Choose from the following options to begin playing X-Men: Mutant Academy. Using up/down on the d-pad, choose the type of game you want to play. Press the X button to start that game. Two Controllers must be plugged in to play Versus mode. Arcade Mode Select Arcade mode to play a one player game. First you will select the character you want to play as with the x buton, or the [] buton to play with that character's alternate costume. Arcade mode will then bring you to a series of matches with all of the character's of the game. Advance through Arcade mode by winning all of your matches. As you emerge victorious over other characters in the game, you will unlock secrets. Check the game's Cerebro mode for a complete list of secrets, and how to unlock them. Versus Mode Versus mode is for two players. Each player must select a character. This mode is pretty much self explanatory. Once selected, you can change the Health, Control Set, Stage, Roundtime, and Rounds. These can be changed by the player who selects their character first. Academy Mode. This mode is self explanatory. Select Independant Study for a typical practice Mode. Academy Training isdesigned to teach you every move in your giant arsenal. During Independant study, press START to reveal what you can do. FULL SUPERS: When ON, gives you max energy in all super meters at all times. ACTION: Sets your opponents action to either STAND, CROUCH, or JUMP BLOCK: Turns opponent blocking ON, OFF, or AUTO Survival Mode A true test of nerves and fighting skills, Survival mode is a one player game where you can test your fighting abilities against a neverending seriesof enemies on one life bar. If you lose, or are K.O.ed, youre done. For each match won, you will be rewarde with health based on how quickly you beat an opponent. Cerebro Mode Cerebro mode is designed so that you can access all of the special goodies you have unlocked while playing the other modes. Memory Card Choose MEMORY CARD to load or save games. ON-SCREEN DISPLAY Health Meter The health meter shows how much life each player has in a certain match. The green part show how much you have now, the blank part shows how much you have lost, and the red part shows how much you can recover by healing. To be healed, you must not be damaged for a certain amount of time, or when the red part is green again. Super Meters The super meters display the available Super move Power each character has. There are three bars, each corresponding with a category of Super Move: Supers, Stinged Supers, and X-treme Spers. A meter bar must be full to use that category of Super move and triggering a super move will deplete that category od Super's bar. The meters will regenerate with successfull attacks against your opponent. X-Treme Meter The X-Treme meter indicates whether or not an X-Treme action can be executed. The X-Treme Meter must be fully charged to do an X-Treme move. once you have built up your X-Treme meter to fullpower, quickly tap the X button to close the arrows until they become an X. Once the "X" is activated, you will have a short period of time to execute the X-Treme move. Move Counters Move counters are the three yellow bars at the top of the screen. You only have three tries to counter a move by the opponent per match . To counter, press the defend button L1. You only have three, so use them strategically. This manual has no specific moves and specials for each character in it, so you can learn them in Academy Training.
