Saved Game Guide

The file on the previous page contains a copy of a "saved game" from a specific title for the PlayStation. By loading such a file on to your memory card and using it in your game, you'll gain the benefits earned by the person that originally saved the game. Such effects may include beginning at a certain part in the game; large amounts of ammunition, lives, or money; bonus characters, modes, or sequences in the game unlocked. Before using any saved game, please read the following:

One of the following accessories are required to transfer the downloaded saved games to a memory card after they have been extracted from the .ZIP file:

• The DexDrive from Interact (files with the .GME extension)
• The Comms Link package from Datel (files with the .PSX extension)
• The Data Deck from MadCatz from Rocket Game Products (files with the .GME extension)
• The Cheat Factory from Rocket Game Products (files with the .PSX extension)
• The Shark Link from Rocket Game Products (files with the .PSX extension)
• The Xplorer with X-Link package from Fire International (files with the .PSX extension)
• The free user-built PlaySaver device (files with the .MC extension)
• The Windows 95/98-based PSemuPro software PlayStation emulator (files with the .MCR extension)
• The Bleem! PC PlayStation emulator (files with the .MCD extension)
• The Virtual Game Station Macintosh PlayStation emulator (files with the .VGS extension)

The free PSXGameEdit software should be used if you need to convert a .PSX, .GME, or other file into another format. It also can convert game saves between the US, European, and Japanese world regions. This allows any saved game file to be used with any hardware combination. In addition to file conversion, this program also allows individual game saves to be deleted, saved, or moved; recovers accidental deletions; converts saved game icons into Microsoft Windows icon (.ICO) files; and even patches certain saved games to allow extra features (more lives, ammunition, levels, etc.) This program is highly recommended to anyone interested in using PlayStation saved game files.
