PS2 PREVIEW: CASTLEVANIA: CURSE OF DARKNESS

It's been awhile since we've seen a 3D Castlevania...and there has been good reason for that. But Konami is certain that eventually they'll get it right and so, they try again. The latest is Curse of Darkness which stars a new Castlevania hero, Hector, who was once one of two Devil Forgemasters who were Drac's righthand men.

Disillusioned with the ideals of his mentor, Hector fled Vallachia to pursue a more normal life, leaving Dracula vulnerable to the Belmonts. Now, three years after Dracula was defeated in battle, the magic power of the curse released upon his death has infected all of Europe. As the continent succumbs to pestilence, heresy and mob violence, Isaac – a former friend and fellow Devil Forgemaster – suddenly appears. Believing their master’s death was a result of Hector’s betrayal, Isaac implicates his friend’s beloved in a deadly witch trial. Fueled by revenge, Hector sets off on a journey to his former home, which is now completely morphed in dark magic, to confront Isaac.

While the fleshed out story captures your imagination, the gameplay promises to captivate you. In this adventure, Hector will be able to forge allies with 30 evolving "innocent devils" who will help him defeat enemies, fly, solve puzzles and avoid traps. As Hector progresses and grows experience, so will his power and abilities, much like the critically acclaimed Symphony of the Night (PSone).

We have high expectations for this one. Stay tuned for more info.
