Special Thanks =====================- =====================- ========================================================== // I. INTRO | ========================================================== First of all, thanks for reading my FAQ/Walkthrough. This FAQ/Walkthrough is for WRC II Extreme on PlayStation 2 and is also the first for this game on GameFAQs and Neoseeker. It is set out to cover the Professional mode of the WRC Championship (2 stages per day, damage and penalties on), but can be used for other modes or for getting to know stages better. You will find info about each stage from the beginning of the championship to the end. In this FAQ/Walkthrough, each stage has a general info box at the start (weather and road type) and the rest gives you information about the stage in each of the 5 "splits" (checkpoint areas) in the game, as road surface and obstacles will change. Most of you will know any rally terms I use such as crest, split and the numbers of corners (e.g Right 5). Just in case you don't... A crest is a small hill that often leads into a corner. Splits are the areas between checkpoints and there are 5 in each track. If I say a corner is a "6" for example, it's very sharp. Corners are measured as 1 to 6 from easiest to sharpest. I hope this FAQ/Walkthrough helps you gain a good position in the tough Professional mode. Enjoy! ========================================================= // II. WALKTHROUGH | ========================================================= ===================================== - IV.a. Event 1 - Monaco >>> ===================================== DAY 1 // Stage 1 // Turriers/Selonnet ------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 has a couple of hairpins, some winding areas and quite a few crests. You should be able to complete the split going at a good speed; just slow down a bit while going round the hairpins, because one of them is over a crest. Make sure you don't cut the third corner (Right 6) because the barrier starts in the middle of it and it's easy to get caught on it. Watch out for barriers over crests as well and you should get to the checkpoint in time. Split 2 is very windy. There aren't too many sharp corners though which means you can complete the split at a good speed. Be careful of the rocks on the outside of the Left 5 about halfway through the split. Split 3 mainly consists of pretty sharp corners and has one hairpin. Just slow down when you come to any sharp or tightening corners and you should make it in time. Split 4 also consists of sharp corners but has a few hairpins. Just make sure you don't go too fast in the middle of the split at the uphill area, because corners here are mainly 5's and 6's, and there are also a couple of hairpins, making it easy to come fast over a crest and hit a barrier. Split 5 shouldn't be too much trouble. Just stay clear of those annoying green fences inside the town that protect the crowd, and be careful of the sharp corners. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 1 // Stage 2 // Pont De Clans/Villars-sur-Var ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 has quite a few straights but be careful on them because the corners come up pretty fast. Start slowing down towards the end of the straight at the start because the corners leading into the town come up quickly. There aren't too many sharp corners in the beginning but later on they get sharper. It also starts to get more windy towards the end of the split. At the start of Split 2 there aren't any corners under 3 (mostly 5's and 6's). Halfway through there are two downhill hairpins so make sure you don't fly down them smashing into the barrier. These hairpins lead into another hairpin formed between a crowd and it's a bit narrow so don't go to fast. Towards the end of the split it starts to travel uphill but you shouldn't have any trouble with it. The first corner of Split 3 is a hairpin and it's quite narrow, so don't go too fast. You could try cutting it but the inside is hilly and it might send you spinning. The rest of the split consists mainly of short straights and long corners, and has a couple of long hairpins which aren't hard to get around. The start of Split 4 has some sharp corners you'll need to be careful of. Halfway through the split the corners ease up a bit giving you some time to catch up because you'll be able to go quite fast on the short straights and corners under 5. Towards the end of the split it starts going downhill slightly and corners get sharper. Split 5 is made up of easier corners (most under 5) but there are more hairpins to navigate. Be careful towards the end of the split where there are 3 or 4 downhill hairpins chained together. Stay slow on the second last corner because it's easy to go flying off the cliff here as there's no barrier. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 3 // Toudon/Puget-Theniers ----------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ The first part of Split 1 can be taken easily. Once you're on the very long straight at the beginning, make sure you slow down towards the end otherwise you'll fly off the outside of the corner. Not far on you'll face an uphill chain of seven hairpins, so take it easy here. You won't be able to cut some of them because they've got barriers that begin in the middle of the inside which you'll get caught on. The start of Split 2 consists of some fairly easy corners. When you hit the bridge slow down substantially towards the end or you'll plummet into the sharp corner leading out of it. The rest of the split ranges in corners from four to six. Split 3 is made up of mainly sharp corners, some linked together. Watch out for barriers starting on the inside of corners and the areas with no barriers which could have you going off into the bush. Early in Split 4 you'll enter a small town which has five or six hairpins linked together. You don't need to slow down too much as the hairpins are quite wide. Once you've exited the town you'll notice the road is a bit wider and is now going slightly downhill. You shouldn't have much of a problem going fast from here to the end of the split, even round the two hairpins. Split five is fairly easy. The road has narrowed since split 4, but halfway through it gets a tad wider again. This split is also fairly straight but take care when you come to the left 6 about halfway through; it comes off a straight and the wall is a small hill which can send you spinning if you hit it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 4 // Selonnet/Turriers ------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ The first thing you'll notice is that this track is held at night time. If you stay straight most of the time you'll be able to see upcoming corners. The first split is fairly straightforward. Not too many hard corners but there is an oddly shaped hairpin shortly after you exit the town. Split 2 starts to get quite windy and there are a couple of hard corners, but not too many. You shouldn't have too much trouble here. The third or so corner in split 3 is a hairpin, with 2 more closely linked to it. Stay slow and you'll be fine. The rest of the split consists of easy corners. When you come through the checkpoint into split 4 there is a short straight which comes onto a Right 6 so make sure you don't come up too fast. Soon you will enter a narrow area which has mostly 2's, 3's and 4's linked together. After exiting this area there's a fairly straight area leading up to the checkpoint. Split 5 is a tad harder than the first splits. There are only a few corners under 5, and towards the end it begins to go downhill slightly with some 6's and two hairpins. Try not to go as fast as you did in the first splits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 5 // Puget-Theniers/Toudon ----------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Snow | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ It's started snowing now; but it's only just began. The road isn't covered in snow yet but some has melted making the road very slippery. Split 1 consists mainly of straights and fairly easy corners. be careful on the first noticeable straight because it leads off quickly and you could smash into the hill. Split 2 is much harder; with 8 or 9 hairpins and a heap of 4's, 5's and 6's you could have a hard time. About three-quarters of the way through you'll come to an uphill area - the only problem is, the whole way up is chained together with a ton of hairpins. Shortly after you'll arrive at the checkpoint. The first thing most of us will notice as we enter Split 3 is - CRASH. There's a sharp corner about a metre from the checkpoint, and you will have probably gone quite fast over the checkpoint. Remember to look out for this. The track now gets alot wider for a moment but soon gets a little bit narrower. You've got a bit more freedom to move around now. Anyway, this split is also mainly made up of 4's, 5's and 6's, and if you don't slow down enough then you'll be hitting a lot of barriers on your way to split 4. There's also a hairpin here but it's a very long one so you shouldn't have too much trouble. Split 4 is fairly straight at the beginning but not soon after you'll notice a lot of 4's, 5's and 6's come up. There's a bridge halfway through but don't worry too much about slowing down towards the end because you can make it out at a good speed. The last part of the split is made up of 4's, 5's and 6's pretty close together, so it's going to be windy until you reach the checkpoint. Halfway through Split 5 you'll be faced with a slippery downhill ride through 5 or 6 hairpins chained together. What makes this area extra hard is that half of the hairpins have barriers starting in the middle of the outside, so make sure you don't get caught on them. After exiting that area the split eases up a little, giving you corners which are mainly under 5. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 6 // Turini/La Bollene ------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Snow | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ This stage is just as slippery as the last. Take care on the 3 or so over-crest hairpins about halfway through the split. Take care at the beginning of Split 2 because it comes right out onto a chain of 3 hairpins. The rest of the split is fairly straightforward but be careful of barriers. The beginning of Split 3 has a very long straight area which you'll be able to breeze through, but be careful towards the end where corners get up to 5 and 6. Split 4 consists mainly of 4's, 5's and 6's. Take care on the sharp corner about halfway through because there are a couple of big rocks on the outside. Slow down to avoid barriers and you should be fine. Split 5 is short and pretty easy. There are a few 5's and 6's but they aren't too hard and there aren't any annoying obstacles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ===================================== - IV.b. Event 2 - Sweden >>> ===================================== DAY 1 // Stage 1 // Fredriksburg R ---------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Snow | ------------------------ You will now be driving on snow and ice. Snow, and ice especially, is extremely slippery so brake often to avoid flying off the track. Split 1 mainly consists of easy corners to help you get used to the weather conditions, but be careful once you hit the ice as it is very easy to lose sight of the track because it is pratically the same colour as the snow in the background. Split 2 is also pretty staightforward except it has more 4's and 5's than Split 1. Brake often to avoid sliding onto the outside of corners. Early on in Split 3 you'll hit gravel which is a relief. Corners are the same as the earlier splits (2's, 3's, 4's, 5's and a 6 or two). There are a few patches of snow and ice on the gravel road which can cause you to slide. Split 4 sends you back onto the snow again. Watch out for the many small trees close to the track as they can send you spinning or stop you completely (weird how they do that without even bending, isn't it?). Soon you'll be back on gravel again until the end of the split. Split 5 is pretty easy. You start on snow but after a while you hit the gravel again and the road gets wider. There aren't any too sharp corners so it's basically a free ride to the finish. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 1 // Stage 2 // Vargasen ---------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Snow | Surfaces: Snow | ------------------------ Ok, Stage 1 was just a warmup. It starts to get more intense now. The first thing I should warn you of is the pile of logs very early in the track. After you come over the first crest (you should get some air off this too) you'll probably be going very fast. Up ahead is an easy corner but it comes up very fast and on the inside is a pile of logs that is very is to hit. For the rest of the split, watch out for logs on the inside and outside of corners. You'll also be facing a few 6's here so listen carefully to your co-driver and be prepared for them. Split 2 is a little bit easier than Split 1. Be careful on the third or so corner because you'll come downhill pretty fast and it's easy to slip off into the forest. Not soon after you'll come to a couple of jumps; one of which leads onto a narrow straight area with ad banners on the sides of the track. If you hit the ad banners at a high speed (you will probably be going very fast), instead of knocking them into the air, YOU will be knocked into the air. The rest of the track has a couple of 6's and towards the end it's quite easy and you'll probably find yourself going extremely fast. For the first three quarters or so of Split 3 the track is narrow and very windy. be careful of the big trees surrounding these narrow areas. Towards the end the track gets very wide and straight giving you a chance to go full speed. Split 4 is fairly basic. Just be careful of the sharp corners over crests and the logs around the track about three quarters of the way through. Split 5 consists mainly of 1's, 2's 3's and 4's and only a couple of 5's and 6's. Watch out for the log pile three quarters of the way through and you should be fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 3 // Legen R --------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Snow | Surfaces: Snow | ------------------------ It's snowing now, like Stage 2 - but now it's much heavier. You won't be able to see too far in front of you, so listen carefully to your co-driver and try to estimate the distances to the corners. Split 1 is made up of pretty easy corners but contains a couple of 6's. Be careful of the logs on the outside just before the end of the split. Corners in Split 2 are mainly 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's. Pretty easy; you shouldn't have any trouble here. Take care at the beginning of Split 3 because corners are mainly 5's and 6's, which means it's very easy to slide off the track. About halfway through corners ease up a bit and you won't face any tough ones. The track gets very narrow right after the second corner in Split 4 but only for a moment. be careful of the 6 about halfway through because it's very easy to slide onto the outside where there are some tall trees. Fairly easy from here on. Slow down towards the third or so corner in Split 5; it's a 6 and is over a crest, and you'll most likely have come up pretty fast. The rest of the split is made up of fairly hard corners so take care. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 4 // Fredriksburg -------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Snow | ------------------------ You must have been dreading this kind of track. It's dark and you're racing on slippery snow. Split 1 is set mainly on very narrow gravel roads with only a couple of hard corners. Shouldn't be much of a problem. The road gets wider in Split 2 and also stays mostly on gravel. Be careful about halfway through where there are a lot of small trees close to the track, and the sides of the track dip downwards slightly making it easy to slide away. Make sure you don't slide off the track in Split 3; it's laden with 5's and 4's. You will see a couple of 3's but not many. Split 4 is basically the same as Split 3 but has more easier corners. Early on you'll face 5's and 6's so brake hard to stay on the slippery ice. Soon you'll come onto gravel but make sure you don't go off the track, because as soon as the gravel starts you go over a crest straight onto a corner. It's pretty straightforward from here on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 5 // Legen ------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Snow | ------------------------ Finally, the weather is clear again. Split 1 has fairly wide roads and is held mainly on gravel but has patches of snow. It contains mainly a mix of all corner types but they shouldn't be much of a problem now that you can see properly and you're back on the hard stuff. Split 2 is pretty much the same as Split 1 except it has bigger snow areas to drive on. I recommend slowing down drastically as soon as you hear your co-driver say that there are a couple of 6's coming up because they're right off a crest and you might plough into the trees. Split 3 has a jump or two for you and a hairpin, although it's a long one so it's fairly easy to pass. The rest of the split is about the same as the first two. Split 4 is very easy and shouldn't be a problem at all. It has a mix of corners like the other splits in this stage. Split 5 is also pretty easy but take care on the two 6's near the start. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 6 // Hagfors --------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Snow | ------------------------ Stage 6 is also clear which is good. The road surface here is mainly snow but has patches of gravel. Split 1 is made up mainly of 3's, 4's and 5's with a couple of 6's. Shoudln't be a problem. Split 2 gets a bit more windy and has a few barriers to look out for. The corners are easy here besides a 6 or two. Split 3 gets even more windy and has more barriers. Take care about halfway through where you'll face two 5's chained together although they are more like hairpins. They are also completely surrounded by barriers. Split 4 straightens out a little bit and there aren't many barriers or obstacles to look out for. When you come to the Left 6 (the first 6 of the split) you can cut it drastically if you like. Split 5 is very short and sweet. Just be careful of the narrow area at the beginning which is lined by logs on both sides. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ===================================== - IV.c. Event 3 - Corsica >>> ===================================== DAY 1 // Stage 1 // Radicale/Ocana ---------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Misty | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ You're off the snow now and back onto the asphalt. Corsica has many many corners as it says in the intro movie. Split 1 has a couple of 5's and 6's and two hairpins, one of which is long. The first hairpin appears fairly early in the split and it is possible to cut it slightly; just make sure you don't go too fast over the bumpy inside or you could spin out. Split 2 has even more corners and most of them are 4's and 5's. It isn't necessary to slow down too much though. This split is very fast and windy. Split 3 eases up on the corners a bit, giving you corners mainly under 5, but it doesn't get any less windy. Split 4 starts to head uphill slightly and the road gets bumpier. There's a hairpin about halfway through which you can cut slightly if you need to. In Split 5 you'll enter a small town fairly early, where the road starts to narrow. Drive slowly because the houses block the views of what's round the corner and you could hit something. Soon you'll exit the town and there's a nice straight right before the finish. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 1 // Stage 2 // Gare de Carbuccia/Gare de Ucciani ----------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Hail | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ It's hailing now so the road is more slippery than Stage 1. Take it easy on sharp corners and you should do fine. Split 1 is very long and mainly features corners under 4 but has a few 6's to be careful of. Split 2 is also fairly long. For half the split you'll be navigating 5's and 6's and you'll barely see any other corners. In the second half there are mainly 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's. Take care on the hairpin right before the finish because it could determine whether you make it in time or not. At the beginning of Split 3 there's an uphill straight but be careful at the top because there's an over-crest 6. The middle of the split contains a couple of hairpins and mainly corners under 4. Towards the end you'll come to a downhill straight - trust me, this part is fun. Just speed all the way down the hill. You'll be going extremely fast, combining the wet road and your full acceleration. Slow down towards the end because it comes to a corner (although it is possible to go off the track and then get back on before it returns you to it itself, allowing you to cut the corner there). Split 4 is pretty long and also quite tough. It's made up of a mix of corners and is also quite windy. Split 5 is shorter and a bit easier than Split 4. There aren't too many hard corners to worry about but be careful of tall hills on the inside of corners. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 3 // Ampaza/Pretreto ----------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Hail | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ It's still hailing so once again you'll have to be careful not to slide around. Split 1 has a few corners at the start but from halfway until the end of the split you'll find that it's basically straight, with only a few corners. All corners in this split are under 5. Split 2 gets more windy and heads downhill in some areas. You'll come across a few harder corners here. The first corner in Split 3 is a hairpin but it's fairly easy to pass. Soon you will briefly enter a town and after exiting the split heads downhill with two hairpins, then a 6. The start of Split 4 begins to head uphill so beware of corners over crests. Halfway through it starts heading down again. There's a 6 or two here and the other corners are mainly 2's and 3's. There are some harder corners in Split 5, including an uphill chain of hairpins. Stay clear of trees and poles on the sides of the track to avoid spinning out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 4 // Ocana/Radicale ---------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Misty | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Once again you're racing at night time. The first section of Split 1 consists of corners 4 and under. Soon you will enter a town where the road narrows so be careful and go slow. Take care on the hairpin-like (it's not a hairpin, but it's very much like one) corner halfway through with the crowd on the inside. Towards the end of the town it's made up of a couple of 5's and from here on it's not far to Split 2. Early in Split 2 you'll come to a hairpin but it's fairly basic - there aren't any rocks on the inside or outside and the whole area is pretty flat. The rest of the split gets a little bit windy with corners being 2's and 3's. The first three quarters of Split 3 gets a bit tougher because just about every corner is a 4 and it's quite windy. Towards the end of the split there are only 2's and 3's and maybe a 4. Split 4 is made up of 1's, 2's and 3's mainly, but the road and the inside and outside of corners get bumpier. You'll also find that it gets even more windy. The road in Split 5 stays a bit bumpy but gets a little bit wider, although you'll encounter a few 6's here and also a hairpin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 5 // Petreto/Ampaza ---------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Ahh, good to have some clear weather again, isn't it? Anyway, the first section of Split 1 is fairly straight, until you enter the more narrow area and head uphill slightly. Soon you'll come to 3 downhill hairpins chained together but the road is fairly flat and wide so it's not too much trouble. The first corner of Split 2 is a 6. The rest of the split consists of corners 5 and under mainly but stay clear of barriers and those short rock walls to avoid being spun around. Early in Split 3 you'll face 2 uphill hairpins which are both over crests so take it easy. Further on you'll briefly enter a town although it isn't as hard to pass through as other towns in the game. Split 4 is pretty straight although it gets more windy towards the end. Once again beware of those short rock walls on the side of tracks. Split 5 is short and sweet. For most of it it's just a straight area but be careful where it breaks off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 6 // Vero/Pont D Azzana -------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ The weather is still clear so you will probably get through this stage without too much damage done to your car. Split 1 is pretty flat and wide and most corners are 3's, 2's and there are a few 4's. Split 2 is much the same as Split 1 but there are a few more 4's and maybe a couple of 5's. Split 3 is also much the same but beware of barriers which can slow you down if you hit them. Split 4 is made up of 2's and 3's mainly but it gets much more windy than the other splits. Split 5 is also very easy. It consists of 2's and 3's mainly. Overall this has been an easy stage, hasn't it? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ===================================== - IV.d. Event 4 - Spain >>> ===================================== DAY 1 // Stage 1 // Ruidecanyes R --------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Misty | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 has long, straight roads with easier corners at the beginning. Towards the end there are a couple of 4's. Split 2 gets some harder corners, some of the first being 4's. There is also a 5 here and the rest are mainly 2's and 3's. The first corner of Split 3 is a 6 so be careful of the barrier on the outside. Soon after you'll come to 4 or 5 hairpins chained together - here's a great trick I discovered for this section. When you come out of the third hairpin, go off the track to your left and head down the small hill towards the track below. If you get far enough, you'll be placed on this part of the track, saving you 5 seconds or more. It is also possible to use the top of the hill as a jump and land on the track below. Split 4 is a bit less straight than the other splits so make sure you don't go off the track on a tough corner. If you used the shortcut trick in Split 3, you should be able to make it to split 5 with a good time even if you have a bit of a spin out. Split 5 is shorter than the other splits but the road narrows slightly. I have to warn you though; after the first jump, while you're on the long straight, your co-driver will tell you about a hairpin ahead. I recommend slowing down because it comes up quickly and if you're going too fast you'll be sliding off the track in no time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 1 // Stage 2 // Escaladei ----------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 of Stage 2 is quite long. It's made up of harder corners such as 6's, 5's, 4's and 3's. It's fairly flat most of the way besides a few areas where the track travels upwards and downwards. Take care on the chain of 3 hairpins halfway through. Split 2 is more intense and windy than split 1 and has more 5's and 6's. It's also quite long and has a chain of two hairpins at the end which continues into split 3. Split 3 has some very long, straight roads for most of it and there aren't many tough corners. The chain of hairpins at the end of split 2 continues at the beginning of this split; there are two more in the chain. Split 4 is shorter than the other splits in the stage and the corners here are mainly 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's and a couple of 6's. Early in Split 5 you'll encounter a chain of 6 hairpins. This area goes uphill slightly in some areas and some of the hairpins are over crests. The rest of the track contains fairly easy corners and a few straight areas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 3 // Viladrau R ------------------------------ ------------------------ Weather: Rain | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 has very long, straight roads with easy corners and a 6 or two. Split 2 is a ton harder; there are heaps of 6's and 5's and a hairpin or two. Towards the end it eases up a bit with a couple of easier corners. Take care not to slide off the slippery track on tough corners. Split 3 is a lot easier than split 2 at the beginning. There are long, straight roads and mainly 2's and 3's. About halfway through there are a few 6's and some chains of hairpins. You might notice a hairpin towards the end with no barrier on your left as you come out of it. This trick is similar to the one in stage 2 of Corsica. You can drive off the edge here and land on the track below, allowing you to cut a hairpin. Split 4 is made up of 5's, 4's, 6's and hairpins mainly, similar to split 3. Split 5 is much easier than the other splits in this stage. It has fairly easy corners and not many hard ones. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 4 // Ruidecanyes ------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ It's night time again and the road is still slippery from the previous rain. Split 1 has corners such as 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's. Careful on the second corner of the split because it is easy to go off the track. Take care not to hit the big trees as well as they are unusually close to the track. Split 2 is made up of 4's mainly and is very windy. Split 3 is full of hairpins, most of which are chained together. There are a few 2's and 3's inbetween to separate some of the hairpins. Split 4 is a bit easier; there are mainly 2's and 3's at the beginning although later on you will find a few 5's in there. Split 5 is fairly short and contains 3's, 4's and one 2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 5 // Viladrau ---------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 is made up of 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's and has two hairpins about a quarter of the way through. Towards the end for a while every corner is a 5 so take care. Split 2 basically has almost everything thrown into it. You'll find 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's and hairpins, as well as gravel patches, crests, jumps and barriers. It is a fairly long split also. Split 3 has 3's and 4's until halfway through when you'll find a few hairpins and 6's. Split 4 has mainly 3's and 4's with a few straight areas and hairpins. Split 5 is very easy; there are only 1's and 2's and very long straights. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 6 // Vallfogona ------------------------------ ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Asphalt | ------------------------ Split 1 has only 4's and 5's until three quarters of the way through when you'll find some 2's and and 3's. Just about every corner in Split 2 is a 3. Be careful about halfway through because there is a downhill area and it is possible to go very fast - once I went so fast I went off the track and off the cliff, through the air and rolled down a huge hill. When I came back I had all my windows smashed and the spoiler was hanging off, not to mention other damage. Split 3 has many 3's as well as a few 4's, 5's and 6's. Take care on the 5 which is over a crest halfway through. The first corner of Split 4 is a 6 so make sure you're not going too fast. Next you'll come to 3 hairpins, then a 5. After that there's a nice straight and the rest are 2's and 3's. Split 5 is a fast split with 2's and 3's and some long straight areas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ===================================== - IV.e. Event 5 - Cyprus >>> ===================================== DAY 1 // Stage 1 // Kato Amiantos/Platres ----------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Cyprus is one of the hardest rallies. The bumpy, windy roads combined with the loose gravel makes it slippery and tough. Split 1 mostly has 4's, 5's, 6's and also a couple of hairpins which are chained together. It's very windy and there are some jumps leading into corners. Take into account what the opening Cyprus Rally movie says - that this is the slowest rally of all - and you'll find you will do better than if you try to speed through. In other words, take it easy and stay slow when required! Split 2 is similar to the first split with 5's, 6's and hairpins popping up everywhere and some jumps leading into corners. There are a few short straight areas going uphill and downhill. Split 3 has mostly 2's and 3's but the track is more windy and a little bit more narrow. Split 4 is very bumpy and windy but it has mainly 2's and 3's like split 3. There is a hairpin or two and most of the outside is lined with low rock barriers. Split 5 is similar to Split 4 but has more 4's and 5's. Watch out for areas with no barriers on the outside because tumbling down a cliff will lose you alot of time (unless you reset to track but you'll get a five second penalty). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 1 // Stage 2 // Prastio/Pachna ---------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 is very long but not as windy as the splits in Stage 1. Corners here include 2's, 3's, 4's and 5's and there are a few short straight areas. Avoid the barriers and rock walls on the sides of the track because the car tends to catch onto them and spin around making it face the wrong way. Split 2 is also very long and gets a little bit more windy. It has the same corners as split 1 except for a few 6's and hairpins. Another very long split. Split 3 also has much the same corners but you'll find more of the hard ones here. Take care on corners without barriers so you don't slide down the hill (although at some parts this is useful because you can get further along the track). There are also lots of rocks on the insides and outsides which can slow you down considerably when hit. Split 4 is much the same as split 3 except there are a few hairpins. Split 5 has mainly 4's, 5's and 6's but the road is a bit flatter so it's a relief from the other splits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 3 // Kapouras/Lagoudera -------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 is very windy and has 3's, 4's, 5's and 6's. Take it easy in areas where there is no barrier to stop you falling off the cliff. Split 2 is mostly made up of 2's, 4's and 5's. There are also a couple of hairpins. Watch out for areas with no barrier on the outside. Split 3 is similiar to split 2 except here it is more open and it gets less windy. In Split 4 quite a few hairpins pop up pretty randomly but other than that it's mostly 3's you'll be going around. Split 5 is bumpy, long and windy. There are a couple of hairpins and more 6's than there are in the other splits. The rest is mostly 3's and 4's. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 4 // Platres/Kato Amiantos ----------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Clear | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 contains most of the average corners such as 2's and 3's. Watch out after you come up the hill near the start of the split because the barrier breaks off and it's easy to fall off the inside. Just after this is a jump into a Right 4 which you should slow down for. Towards the end is a hairpin. Split 2 is much the same as split 1 at the beginning but towards the end of the split there are many 5's and 6's although they aren't too much trouble. Split 3 is fairly windy but there are mainly 2's and 3's. Just be careful not to go off the track. Split 4 is much the same as split 3. Split 5 heads downhill with some 5's and 4's so take care. Beware of the jump right before the finish; you won't see the corner until you're in mid air. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 5 // Lagoudera/Kapoures -------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Misty | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 has quite a few 4's and 5's and also a hairpin. Beware of areas where there is no barrier on the outside/inside. Split 2 is similar to split 1 although there are many more hairpins including a chain of them towards the end. Split 3 is much the same as the last two splits but with less hairpins. It is also a bit bumpier. Split 4 gives you a slight break on the tough corners, consisting mostly of 2's, 3's and 4's. Split 5 is a bit easier than split 4. Just take care on areas with no barrier or you could lose valuable seconds! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 3 // Stage 6 // Kourdali/Spilia ----------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 is very windy, mostly containing 3's, 4's and 5's. Split 2 is just as windy as split 1 - if not more - and has a couple of 6's for you to manoeuvre. Split 3 is slightly less windy than the last two splits, however, there are a couple of dips and jumps and also a basic hairpin. Split 4 is pretty windy and has a couple of hairpins and 6's from the start to middle, then has 2's and 3's mostly towards the end. Go slow and you'll be fine. Split 5 has a LOT of 6's, and also some 4's, 5's and 3's. It's also quite windy so stay slow when you need to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ===================================== - IV.f. Event 6 - Argentina >>> ===================================== DAY 1 // Stage 1 // Capilla del Monte R --------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Misty | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 consists of 1's, 2's, a few 3's, 4's and 6's, and also a few hairpins. The track isn't very bumpy so you should be able to go quite fast. Split 2 is almost entirely made of 5's, 6's and hairpins. Slow down at corners and use the handbrake for some cool handbrake turns and you'll be fine. Split 3 has a jump at the start so go slow because it leads straight into the corner. The rest of the track has pretty easy corners so you can probably make it through at high speeds. Split 4 is mostly made of 2's and 3's but it's much more windy than the last three splits. Split 5 has a few 6's and 5's but it is pretty straightforward. There's a cool "water splash" near the end for you to drive through. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 1 // Stage 2 // Cosquin --------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Rain | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 is extremely long. It has basically a mix of all the corners but there are no hairpins. The track is narrow and it's raining so make sure you don't slide off on the slippery mud. Split 2 is also very long and basically the same as split 1 although there are a couple of hairpins. Split 3 is quite windy and there are a lot of 6's. Split 4 is mostly made of 2's and 3's. Split 5 consists mainly of 2's, 3's, 4's and 5's. It is pretty easy to go off the track so be careful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 3 // San Marcos Sierra R --------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Rain | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Split 1 has mostly 4's and 3's. There are a couple of hairpins but they are pretty basic. The road is slippery and narrow so brake often. Split 2 is very long and has just about every corner in it. It is also quite windy and there is a cool jump about three-quarters of the way through. Split 3 consists mostly of 4's and 5's. There is a hairpin or two and also a windy chain of 6's halfway through. Split 4 has many 2's, 3's and 4's and is quite windy. Split 5 is mostly made up of 5's and 6's. There's a straight area you should watch out for because it leads right into a 5 and if you're going too fast you can easily slide off the track. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAY 2 // Stage 4 // Capilla del Monte ------------------------------------- ------------------------ Weather: Cloudy | Surfaces: Gravel | ------------------------ Uh oh... another night-time track. Split 1 mostly has 3's, 5's and 6's and it's very windy. Don't go too fast! Split 2 is actually a bit easier than you've faced before. Almost all the corners are 1's or 2's and there's a cool jump towards the end. Split 3 also has many 1's and 2's but there are also a few 4's and 5's tucked in there towards the end. There are around 3 jumps as well but on the last one it's unlikely you'll get any air because it's around a tricky corner. You can't expect the whole track to be too easy, can you? Split 4 consists of 4's, 5's, 6's and has a chain of two hairpins. It's also pretty windy so this is a slow and bumpy split. Split 5 has just about every corner in it, a few jumps and bumps and two areas where the track narrows. It's also a bit straighter than the other splits in the stage, so you can go a bit faster if you like. ----------------------***T O B E C O M P L E T E D***---------------------- ========================================================= // V. TIPS, SECRETS AND CHEATS | ========================================================= // Driving Tips // Drive along the outside of the corner and when you get to it steer through it. Because you came along the outside, you'll be able to get through smoothly. Almost halfway through the corner, tap once or hold the handbrake button while steering to swing your car round easily. When going through the corner, hold the brake button to slow your car down while steering through. If you're coming up to a corner but you don't think you'll make it at full speed, and you can't afford to slow down too much, let go of the accelerate button while turning. This will slow you down only a little bit and will allow you to keep around the same speed as soon as you come out of the corner. Try to get used to all the road types. In WRC II Extreme road types affect your driving drastically - snow, ice, rain and loose gravel will make your car slide whereas hard surfaces won't. Listen to your co-driver carefully. After playing for a while you'll be able to estimate the distances to a corner (e.g 100 metres) which is very helpful in dark or foggy stages. When playing in dark stages make sure you don't go too fast. Even though your co-driver will tell you what's ahead, you don't know if there's a barrier or not on the inside or outside, or if there are any other dangers. // Unlockables // Complete the Expert WRC mode to unlock secret cars. // Cheats // Enter these in the "secrets" option: Invert Controls - FLIPLEFT Reflective Car - CHROME Disco Lights Effect - DISCO Swaying Objects - SWAY Motion Blur - MOBLUR UFO - UFOPTER Rear-Wheel Drive - PUSHME Cheat Source - GameFAQs.com ========================================================= // VI.
