You get your choice of GameCube, Classic or Nunchuck. I used the Classic, mostly because after owning the damn controller for like 2 years, I’ve never actually used it, though my brother has and he likes it. But anyways. Here’s your controls: Saving: When on the World Map, bring the up the Menu Screen, select System, and then select Save. When in towns or dungeons, look for the glowing cubes. You’ll know ‘em you see ‘em. Press A on them to bring up the save screen. Green save points will fully heal your party. Blue save points, and saving on the world map, just saves the game, no healing. Classic: A: Confirm selected option/ action button (when it says press “a”, freakn’ press a to do something!) B: Cancel last action/ whatever you’re doing/ leave shops X: brings up the Menu Screen/ Ends action choosing phase during battle, if not all AP have been used up Y: Equips items when in the equipment screen/ changes character order in the Menu Screen/ switches the map out in the lower right corner (World Map only!)/ brings up Area Map when in Towns and Dungeons, after finding the map for that area Left control stick: Move character around screen/ navigate menus Right Control stick: Camera control (world map only!) L: Activates skits, when displayed in the lower right corner/ Character toggle R: Character toggle D-Pad: Navigate menus/ Camera Control (World Map only!) +: Brings up the pause screen. If you ever forget what you’re doing, press the pause button to see a quick sentence on your current story-line goal/ pauses major cut scenes, press A to exit cut scene, this trick won’t allow you to skip the cut scenes involving character avatars -: does nothing. ZR: Centers camera in back (World Map only!) ZL: Does nothing GameCube: Same exact controls as the Classic, only the C-stick replaces the Right control stick, and of course, the start button replaces the + button. Nunchuck: A: Confirm selected option/ action button (when it says press “a”, freakn’ press a to do something!) B: Cancel last action/ whatever you’re doing/ leave shops Control Stick: Move character around screen/ navigate menus D-Pad: move camera (World Map only!)/ Navigate Menus 1: brings up Status Menu/ ends action-picking phase of battles if not all AP is used 2: brings up map in towns/dungeons, brings up zoomed in view on world map +: Brings up the pause screen. If you ever forget what you’re doing, press the pause button to see a quick sentence on your current story-line goal/ pauses major cut scenes, press A to exit cut scene, this trick won’t allow you to skip the cut scenes involving character avatars - : does nothing C: Centers camera (World Map only!)/ Character toggle Z: Character Toggle Quick and easy Battle explanation: The game does a decent job of explaining the finite basics of battle as you go along through the first dungeon or two. After that you’re on your own. I’ll just briefly touch on the important things, as a refresher. AP- Stands for ACTION POINTS. In order to do stuff, you need them. All battle actions require a set amount of AP to be done. Whether it’s using and item, attacking or just changing your position in the field, it requires AP to happen. At the start of each turn, you gain a certain amount of AP for every player-controlled character that’s alive; the amount they give is level-dependent. Any unused AP from the last turn is added on. The level of your characters, and the amount of LIVE Player-Controlled characters determines the max amount of AP you’re allowed to hoard. SP- Stands for SPIRIT POINTS. Spirit points are shown as a percentage, so the max is of course, 100%. These are required to perform your Excel Acts. A min of 3 AP is required in addition to the SP percentage shown in order for the special attack to be used. As you battle and strike down foes, you recover SP. You will learn more about Excel Acts and SP after a little battle in Jada. RP- Stands for ROGRESS POINTS. Only L’Arc and Alf have to worry about these. You won’t be able to use the RP until the 2nd Deathchanter battle. After that, it’s pretty self-explanatory. You regain RP for defeating enemies, though very, very slowly. You can regain RP slightly more quickly by using elemental atks, corresponding to the elements of the Rogress you currently have pacts with. Unfortunately, you can only use one Rogress at a time in battle, and only if two conditions are met: if it’s within the 1st 3 turns of the battle, OR 1st turns after filling the RP gauge, AND the RP gauge is full. DO NOT WAIT TO USE THE ROGRESS OR YOU’LL MISS OUT! Also, due to the fact that RP regenerates so slowly, it should only be used during boss battles. MP- Stands for MAGIC POINTS. ARF takes a Final Fantasy approach to using magic. You have 4 levels of magic, and you can only use a certain amount of each level of magic, determined by their MP. Each spell only uses one MP, but still needs AP to happen. Some spells can be used outside of battle, via the Menu Screen; in that case, it only spends MP. Tactics- If you get tired of telling your people to continually do the same actions over and over again, you can set up a sort of program that will do all the work for you. You can even customize it to each different enemy and whatnot. Eh, I still prefer to do things manually. *shrug* Chains- After you do a few battles in the Olquina Jungle dungeon, you’ll discover the power of Chains. Magic Chains can help regenerate more AP, when done right. Attack Chains just deal lots of damage. :> Chains work by having one or more person performing the same action, or magic type attack on the same target. Trinity Acts- Just as regular attacks and magic can be chained, Excel Acts can be chained as well. When done correctly, the three characters will use a super-powered attack called a “Trinity Act”. Trinity Acts can’t be used until after defeating a certain Boss. All characters on the field can chain their Excel acts together to perform a Trinity Act, however only three can be in the chain. So keep an eye on your Guests when they’re there. Guest Vs. Player-Controlled- CPU-Controlled characters are referred to as “Guests” when on the battlefield. They act as a fourth party member, but they don’t share in your AP pool. They are usually a pretty big help, and act completely on their own. Guest characters can earn XP just like anyone else, and thus can also level-up. You cannot use their magic, and you cannot mess with their equipment. If a Guest is KO’d in battle, it doesn’t matter. However, if a PC character is KO’d, revive it, because when all PC characters are down, the battle ends and you get a Game Over. You are allowed 3 PC characters + 1 Guest, when available, on the battlefield. The Monster Aggression System- In this game, monsters and bosses can become angry at are your chars, causing them to attack certain chars more often than others. To make a monster/Boss build aggression towards a certain char, have that char continually attack, or continually defend. Some monsters don’t go for the char they’re most aggressive towards, and instead go for the one they have the LEAST aggression towards. It can seem a little random at times, but if a certain person is just getting slaughtered all the time, now you know why. Brief Item Overview: I won’t cover all the items found, just the important ones. Some items can be used outside of battles, like heal items, and others can only be used in battle, like Analyzers. Useable items are color- coded in the game as to when they can be used. Red items can only be used in battle. Blue items can be used both in battle, and outside battle. Since blue items cost AP to use in battle, I recommend waiting 'til the battle’s over to use them, or use them in Battle sparingly. The only blue item that’s battle-only are Revives. Liquids- at the start of game you’ll find items labeled as “heal liquid”, “mid liquid”… etc. “Liquids” are the primary HP healer items in this game. So stock up on them at every chance you get. Revive Bottles: As the name implies, these items revive KO’d allies. Only works in battle. If an ally is KO’d during battle and you don’t revive them, they will be auto-revived when the battle is done; with just 1 HP. KO’d characters will not receive XP, if they’re still KO’d by the end. Elixirs- Not found until later in the game, these items will cure all status ailments and fully recover all HP. They do not cure KO, though. Analyzers- These items are used to display info on enemies. You only need to use an analyzer on an enemy once, and the info is saved forever for future battles. :> I recommend stocking up on these, they’re pretty cheap, and very useful. Use them whenever you encounter a new enemy or boss, at the beginning of the battle. Because Analyzers give you pretty much all the info you need, I will not tell you a Boss’s level, HP, etc. I will warn you about their attacks and how to avoid them, though. :> -alot- You will encounter items called “Ricoalot”; “expalot”… the list goes on. When used on an enemy in battle, they increase your spoils at the end. For instance, using a Ricoalot gives you more money at the end of the battle. Specialties- these items recover SP. They can be used outside of battle. Quicks- These recover MP. The number attached determines what level magic MP they recover. Chargers- These fully recover a level of MP. Cures- These are your status ailment healers. What they cure is determined by their name, and it’s pretty freakn obvious. Cure Poison, cures poison, Cure Paralysis, cures paralysis, and so on and so forth. Cure items can be used both in battle and outside of battle, though a few status effects do go away at the end of the battle, so don’t worry. Loots- Sometimes enemies will drop loot, like body parts or strangely named things. You’ll know it when you see it. For the most part, these things are absolutely useless. A few Guild Quests require them, but that’s about it. You should just go ahead and sell them off, and if a Guild Quest needs a certain loot, go beat the enemies and worry about it then. Brief Magic Explanation: Getting the hang of magic in this game is a little tricky at 1st. Here’s the finite basics: Orbs- Orbs come in four elemental types: Wind, Fire, Water and Earth. You equip them by going into the Menu Screen, selecting Magic, then Orbs. By default you can only equip one orb per person. To equip more, Slot Expanders must be bought from the Orb Workshops found in towns after Jada. Be careful though, because they’re not cheap, and the price goes up after each expander is bought. Equipping certain orbs together can produce compound effects. For instance equipping a Fire and Earth orb will allow you to use Darkness element attacks. Equipping orbs of opposing elements is bad, as that will lower their powers. Magic Levels- By default, you only have access to level 1 magic. To get more levels, you must equip level 2 and above gems. (Read an orb’s description to determine what MP level it is) However in order to actually use the MP, the item “MP + Lv (insert 1-4 here)” has to be purchased from the Workshop. Raystones- After a certain battle in the Olquinan Sub-Shrine, Raystones will sometimes appear in battle. Raystones essentially magnify the effects of magic attacks of their element. So for instance, Fire Raystones make Fire magic exponentially more powerful. The only drawback to this is that they don’t choose sides. Both you and the enemies can use them. So choosing to destroy them, or keep em around, is always something to consider. I highly recommend destroying them when in boss battles, as the bosses ALWAYS use them, and occasionally destroy them. Using magic outside of Battle- Only healing spells can be used outside of battle. Just go into the Menu Screen, select Magic, then select Use, choose your character and spell and use it. Note that you cannot use the magic of “Guest” characters at all. They’re selfish bastards like that. How to use maps: The World Map is always displayed in the lower right corner of the screen, when you’re not in a Town/Dungeon. The world map displays several dots. The dot with an arrow is you; the arrow indicates the direction you’re facing. Red dots indicate dungeons, blue dots are Moon Inns, white dots are towns, and flashy dots are your next location. Press Y to get a zoomed in view. While in the zoomed in view, your Lightship’s location will be shown as a yellow dot. For towns and dungeons, you must find the Area Map. Then you press Y to view it at any time. In Towns, you need to find the town’s Nomad Son and talk to him. He’s dressed liked a backpacker, and always near the entrance. In dungeons, the map is a sparkly spot in the ground. Its location varies from place to place. In general, it’s near the end. The maps display the locations of all chests, so check often, since I don’t tell you where they all are, I only tell you about the important ones. Anywho. Shall we get started? After a beautiful CG movie, you’ll enter into your 1st battle. It’s L’Arc VS a lovely dragon. Just keep attacking, and don’t worry about your health. It’s practically impossible to die this round. Once you beat it, yay! Another CG movie! Woot! Don’t get too used to these things though, ‘cause it’ll be a long while before we see another. : Also, you should always open the battle with a Rogresss. If you wait too long to use the Rogress, the option will go away. So don’t wait for some mythical perfect opportunity. Just freakn’ do it. Jada: K. we’re back in Jada. Use the save point at the town entrance. Then head on over to Clyde’s place. Walk into his office, and talk to Clyde to trigger a short cut scene. Then it’s time to move out. Rest up in the Inn if you want, restock your items supply, grab some armor if you want, then it’s time to head out. TO THE ROYAL CITY WE GO! World Map: Guess what direction we’re going? YUP, SOUTH. 8D So um, yeah. Head south east. And just keep going south east along the path until you reach a giant-ass city. It’s pretty hard to miss. Battle monsters along the way, items in the Royal City ain’t cheap. Diamont: Use the save point near the entrance then head up til you actually get to the city. Upon entering the city, you trigger a long series of cut scenes that explain the story... a little. We still don’t half the crap that’s going on, but that’s fine. As soon the cut scenes are over, it’s time to get to Weiss’s office. Head down either of the stairs, then enter the door in the center. At the end of the hall is his office. Enter to trigger another cut scene. Now we need to get to L’Arc’s place, his old master’s martial arts studio. Exit the castle, head down and to the left, and go down the stairs to trigger a short cut scene. Continue down the stairs and get on the lift. The place we’re looking for is the 1st house to the right. Enter to trigger a cut scene. Enter the guest house, talk to the woman sitting on the bed to trigger another cut scene. You are now given the chance to explore the city. Shops are on the lowest level of the city, so if you want to stock up, go there. Next door to the Martial Arts studio, is the Guild HQ. Visit it to learn about the Guild. They’re fun stuff! The Guild offers you little side quests for money. There is a Guild branch in literally every town and city in the world. When you’ve had your fun exploring, go back to the Guest House an press A on the bed in the left room to trigger a cut scene. Another cut scene soon follows, then it’s time to leave for the mission. But 1st… the master wants to talk. Enter the Martial Arts Studio, and go through the lower right door. Talk to your Master, and then it’s time to start the mission. Seems we need to get a boat. Head down to the lowest level of the city, and take the right path to get to the port. A cut scene happens, then it’s time to seek out Alf. Alf is in the Guard Room of the castle. So go there. That’s down either the stairs directly in front of the castle entrance, after entering the castle. Talk to him to trigger a cut scene. Then head back to the port. Upon entering the port, another cut scene is triggered. Niko joins, this time he’s player-controlled! Head back to the Martial Arts studio and enter it to trigger another cut scene. Talk to L’Arc’s mom in the lower right to trigger another scene, then exit and head on off to the World Map. Before you leave though, Warrior Girl informs you that she’s joining you. Huzzahs! She’s a CPU character though. :( Warrior Girl’s real name is Cecil. She is convinced that she’s a “hero”. It’s quite humorous. She becomes more important later in the game, but for now she’s just some little kid who likes to beat up monsters. :D Niko will join us well, this time as a PC player. He will remain as one for pretty much the rest of the game. :> World Map: We’re supposed to heading south. But it’s really more slightly north…ish. The area we’re looking for is very hard to find. Somewhere southeast of the Royal city, there is a peninsula. You’ll know it when you see it. There’s a grey rocks covering the left side, marking the dungeon entrance. Mandelro Coast [MANCO]: The path through here is pretty straight forward. Once again, I encourage you to fight as many enemies as possible, to ensure you level up enough before fighting the boss. The bosses are not pushovers in this game. You seriously need to come prepared or you will get raped. All the way to the bottom left in the 1st area is a chest. Head upwards to reach the Master, triggering another cut scene. Warrior Girl leaves. :< Continue onwards into the cave. Go down the halls, and follow the paths to their various ends. Most lead to chests. One leads to a save point. Make sure you’re at least level 12. Save. Then continue onwards to trigger a cut scene… ----------------------------------- BOSS: Paula and Luna [PL1] Attacks: Dancing Flames (Paula) and Six Lights (Luna) Magics: Fire (Paula), Water and Earth (Luna) Strategy: BAH. This is like fighting two Deathchanters at once. Only they’re female. And they don’t leave halfway through the battle. Jerks. The basic strategy is to start out by spreading by spreading your characters out. Make sure nobody’s behind another, nor next to another. Try to maintain your distance from each other throughout the battle. Be sure to use Simmah at the start, to do a little damage to both. Concentrate your fire on Luna first, since she has the least HP. When her HP gets low, her Arm Force will start working, making her auto-defend. But eventually she’ll go down. Just like with the last Boss, you want to keep your health up, so heal whenever your peeps’s HP is starts to get low, don’t wait for it to go red. Defend when necessary, and when you get a chance, have Alf use Grand Rage as often as possible. After a while, Paula will fall as well. END BOSS ------------ After defeating those little bitches, you see a short cut scene, then we get introduced to another important character. Serge, he’s a bit of a lady’s man. He enjoys teasing L’Arc about his young age. Apparently looks can be deceiving, because Serge is quite old. Though he’s not as old as Rastin. We’ll learn a little more about him later on. World Map: Another cut scene as the ship zips around the sea. Wooooo. Eventually control will switch to L’Arc. Talk to everyone, then go up and talk to Serge. Another cut scene. Talk to the Kopin to receive a few swimsuits and unlock the Outfit Option in the status screen. Then press A on the bed to end this part. Another cut scene will happen as L’Arc is jerked awake. Seems we’ve crash-landed in Olquina. Great. Serge joins as a PC character, and Adele joins as a Guest, then it’s off to the Kopin Village. The Kopin Village is just slightly southeast of where you are. Before you go, Head back into the ship for some more outfits. Examine the sparkly spot for an outfit for Adele. Talk to the blue Kopin for an outfit for Alf. Leave the ship and continue onwards to Kopin Village. Kopin Village: You will see a rather humorous cut scene upon entering. God, I love these little oddballs. XD Go ahead and explore the village a little bit. Go off to the right to see the workshop, and trigger a short cut scene wherein you’ll learn a little more about equipping Orbs. Then go back and to the left, then up to see the Elder. Another cut scene and Serge rejoins the party. Head back to the entrance to see another cut scene. Our little Kopin will learn a very useful skill. Be sure to stock up on items before exiting. There won’t be another town for a long while, and upcoming boss is quite the challenging bitch. World Map: Kopin village is the southernmost point of the journey so far. So now we’re going to be going northward from now on. The Jungle’s just slightly northeast. Nabra Jungle [NABJUN]: Enter the jungle for a quick cut scene, then walk to one of the little fly traps to see another cut scene. Seems these jerks need some food before they’ll let us pass. Go over to the left and do battle with the tree monster. You’ll learn about Magic Chains. Defeat the monster to receive a Bitter Fig. You has food now! Walk up to red fly trap that was in the way, Press A to feed it the Bitter Fig, then move on. So from now on, when you see Nagra Treents, fight them for their figs. Use the figs to feed the Red fly traps. Don’t forget to go back to the start to feed the fly trap and get your chest! As we press onwards, we’ll find a blue trap. The Blue Trap doesn’t want bitter figs, it wants something else, freakn’ picky eater. Seek out a blue flying mushroom monster and fight it to get a Smelly Fungus. Feed that to the blue traps. As we continue on down the pat, we come into a maze. Enter from the left path, and feed all the traps you find along that path, to reach the exit. There is a save point in the next screen. Make sure you’re level 20. Or around there. Enter the next screen for a cut scene. --------------------------- BOSS: Vifrons [VFNS] Attacks: Time of Sleep -switches from Magic to Physical, Flower turns red. Time of Awakening- Switches from Physical To Magic, Flower turns Purple. Seeds of Spring- single target. Can cause silence. Only used when flower is red. Seeds of Autumn- single target. Can cause immobilize. Only used when flower is purple. Harvest Festival- Area attack. Your chars will say they sense danger when he’s about to use it. His ultimate attack. Magic: Earth, Water Weakness: Fire Strategy: The fight starts out with a quick lesson on attack chains, then the real battle begins. So you’re gonna notice that a very common strategy I always recommend is to spread you characters out right from the start. This is because pretty much every single freakn’ boss uses Area attacks of some sort, and the only way to avoid them, is to well, spread your peeps out. This fight is no different. Use your analyzer, spread your peeps out, and use Simmah ASAP. For the rest of the time, defend, defend and defend. Heal when you’re low in HP. Have Ryfia use Radiant Song as much as humanly possible, as that attack is extremely powerful against this bum. Surge’s Flaming Throw is also good, though it doesn’t do nearly as much damage. Fire-based magic atk chains are your friend. Your characters will eventually notice that the Boss switches between Physical and Magic attacks. When that happens, his resistances change. When he’s using Magic, he’s more weak to Physical, and visa-versa. They thing has a ton of health, so it’ll be quite an endurance battle. Eventually he’ll go down, then it’s time to get the hell out. END BOSS ------------- Exit this area by heading northwards. World Map: Kopin says we should head for the nearby Moon Inn. Kopin always knows best, for he is amazing. So head for the Inn. It’s a little north east of your current location. Full Moon Inn: The Moon Inns are scattered throughout the world, and are completely free to use. Just press A on the bed to sleep. But before you do that, there’s a quick little cut scene with a lovely lass. Then you can sleep. Then it’s off to Antrax. World Map: Antrax is north of our current location. Be sure to battle monsters along the way. You need the Rico and XP. Antrax: Start by going to the Inn and spending the night, to get some free outfits. Head up and to the left to trigger a cut scene. Continue head upwards, then go Left to reach the port for another cut scene. Then it’s off to the shrine. Seems the road’s closed for now. So we’re off to the Inn. Inn’s back at the town entrance, on the left side. Rest up there, then go back to the shrine. Before you go though, be sure to stock up on items. After you reach the shrine, it is decided that the guard’s guarding the place we need to get into. Grab the chests nearby, then head for the guard for a cut scene. Go down the stairs. Olquina Sub-Shrine [OLSS]: Apparently the Skywalk’s down here… somewhere. The lifts are currently out of commission, you’ll have to use the stairs for now. The path through this place is very straight forward. Just keep going down stairs and hallways until you reach B3. Then it’s time a simple puzzle. Go all the way to the right hallway and examine the switch. Then gown down the center and to the left, examine the switch. Then gown the center hallway and fight the monsters to learn about Raystones. Defeat them and examine the switch. So now the lifts work, huzzahs! Enter a lift, and go down to B4. Follow the path until you reach the Skywalk for a quick little cut scene. Then a monster battle. These monsters are pushovers, defeat them and move on. Use the lift to take you back to the 1st floor, and then get the hell out! We need to leave Antrax, and with no other options, it seems a ship is our answer. So head back to the port. You’ll see another cut scene… then we need to get back to Adele. This means heading back to the shrine. UGH, WE WERE JUST THERE. D:< So anyways, the lovely lass from the Inn joins us, her name is Leslie, and she’s a slut with a gun and she enjoys flirting with L’Arc. Leslie is a Guest, btw, and she always will be whenever she’s in your party, until towards the end of the game. After you reach the Shrine, you’ll see another cut scene. Serge rejoins us, then it’s off to the underground tunnel. Oceansong Road [OCSGRD]: This dungeon is rather interesting. Start by saving. Then go forward. There is a chest down the Right hallway, get it and go back down the Left. Now there’s a Chest down the upcoming Left hallway, go Right to move on. Final intersection: Chest on the right, with a cracked wall. Examine the cracked wall to have Kopin bust it up for another chest. Go back to the main hallway, and continue forwards. Make sure you’re at least Level 26 and have a good item stock on hand. It’s boss times! --------------------------------------- BOSS: Afank ROUND 1 [AFNK] Attacks: Acid Mail- water damage to a single target. Lowers stats. Magic: Water Weak: fire Strategy: Now I know I’ve been telling you to always open with the Rogress you got, but for this fight, we’ll make an exception. Don’t use your Rogress for this whole battle. Just don’t. You’ll want it for later. However, just like always, use your analyzer, and spread everyone out. This the first boss fight that has Raystones. Whenever you’re in a boss fight, you need to destroy the raystones, since the Boss will always take advantage of them to increase its magic power. To prevent that, destroy every raystone. Raystones don’t stay dead forever, and after a certain amount time, they will come back, so just keep killing them. I always use Niko for this job, since he can shoot the Raystones without having to leave his position. Keep your health up, defend when you’re not attacking, and have Alf use Grand Rage. If he knows Multisphere, have him use that as well to increases his power. Relatively speaking, this boss is pretty simple… almost… too simple… ----------------------------- BOSS: Afank ROUND 2 Attacks: Hydro Pillar- Area attack. Deals massive water damage. (Your character will get a “bad feeling” when he’s about to use this, PAY ATTENTION!) Acid Arm- water damage to a single target. Lowers stats. Magic: Water Weak: Fire Strategy: You still have Rogress ready to go, right? You can use it now. Use your analyzer to find that in the past thirty seconds, he’s magically risen two levels. F’n jerk. He’s also fully healed and has more HP. His atk and defense power has also gone up. Spreading your peeps out is extremely important, the farther they’re apart, the less likely they are to get hit by Hydro Pillar. Hydro Pillar will sync with the Raystones, if they’re there, so be sure they’re gone at all times. Now when he’s about use it, your characters will say things like “I got a bad feeling…” or “Something strange is going on…”, that’s your cue! Put everyone on the defense and hope for the best. Then retaliate with everything you got the next turn. Make sure you heal and keep your health up! END BOSS ------------ Well when the thing finally goes down, a cut scene happens, as with all boss battles. Then it’s time to get out. Continue forwards, and head to the right, go down the 1st hall you see. Fight the mutant turtle and get your chest, then go down and all the way back to the right. There’s a sparkly spot on the ground, examine it to get your Area Map. Then get the hell out! Olquina Shrine: Head up the stairs on the left. The Area Map’s in the 1st door you see. Then continue on upwards. You’ll see another cut scene. People we thought could trust will leave us, then it’s time for our final mission. : Go down the stairs just behind you on the left, and explore the halls and cells for a chest. Go back up, and head down and to the left, up the stairs. Continue heading downwards, until you see a spiral stairs heading up, on the right. Go behind them for a chest. Then go up the stairs for a cut scene. Seems we can’t just waltz out of here like we had planned. Blast! We’ll just have to find another way. Head back to the Special Cells, where you found the area map. Go down the right hall, and open up the last cell. Examine the wall to trigger a cut scene and leave. Carbunculus: Well it’s only a matter of time before we’re caught, so let’s get the hell out! The team agrees to head for Ryfia’s home, Benetnasch. World Map: Benetnasch is to the North West, across a bridge. Benetnasch: Enter town for a cut scene. Rastin leaves us, for now. The bishop will offer to take you directly to the cathedral, accept his offer. You‘ll have time to explore town later. :) After a quick cut scene, enter the patriarch’s room for another cut scene. We learn a little about the story, then it’s off to the inn. This is your time to explore the town, btw. Stock up on items, and then head for the inn. It’s over by the town entrance. Enter for a cut scene. Now after you wake up, go back to the cathedral, basically… just keep heading straight. Pretty much all the roads here lead there. >.> Then go back up to Hosea’s room for another cut scene. Finally! We get our damn quest! Seems we need 9 Rogress, and then go to the Holy Lands and end this thing. Sounds like fun! After the cut scene ends, it’s off to the inn again. Go back to the inn for another quick cut scene. Rastin’s back! All is good! Now exit town, and head for the next area, Batrachites. Actually, the main road there has been destroyed by the Republic Army, so we’re just kidding. We need to go Gauss Tunnel. THEN Batrachites. World Map: Gauess Tunnel is a little North East of your current location, across the bridge you came over before. Gauss Tunnel: This place is just full of fun stuff! All the enemies here are weak to Light attacks. So you have any Light magics or attacks up your sleeve, now’s the time to use them. The path doesn’t diverge really at any point, so just keep heading forward. *shrug* The low roads usually lead to chests, and the high roads will take to the boss. Oh and by the way, to use Light magic, equip an Earth orb in combo with a Wind orb. Both orbs must be of the same level. There’s a save point in the screen just before the Boss battle. Save. This boss is a tough one. Make sure you’re at least Level 23 or higher. Enter the next screen for a quick cut scene, learn a little more about Warrior Girl, then it’s time to fight… ------------------------- BOSS: Fafnir [FAFR] Attacks: Frotti- Ice damage to an area Rigil- Earth damage to an area Nibelung- Dark damage to an area. Lowers defense stats. Gram- damage to a single target. Your characters will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: None. Weak: Light Strategy: Use an analyzer to discover this bum has a ton of HP. He will not go down easy! Spread everyone out, then use Simmah, to take advantage of that Light weakness straightaway. For the rest of the battle, abuse Ryfia’s Radiant Song. DEFEND OFTEN. He doesn’t use Magic, so you don’t have to worry about the Raystones, this time. Almost all his attacks are area attacks, so be sure your peeps are very spread out! Heal often, as he will do a good job of keeping you down in HP. What he lacks in looks, he makes up for in brute force. When the health gauge finally reaches 0, you’ll see a cut scene. Rastin insists you kill him with a very special attack, just make everyone use an Excel Act. Well for this next part, any KO’d characters will be automatically brought back with 1HP, but don’t worry, the dragon can’t attack this round. So we need to use our Excel Acts, in fact, it’s all you’re allowed to do! After everyone uses an Excel Act, you’ll see a truly powerful attack, and the battle ends. Funny Glitch: Just before you’re about to get his HP down to 0, before you see the cutscene about Trinities, you can have your three chars chain their Excel Acts together. You won’t get the Trinity, but the Sync still happens. 8D My sister discovered this, by accident. END BOSS ------------- Cut scene. Blah. I might as well explain what you just did there. Trinity Acts happen when you chain Excel Acts together. The only catch is that all three characters have to chain it, and they have to be attacks, not stat or healer Excel Acts. The amount of SP each attack uses determines the TA that happens, the default TA seems to be “Mystic Fortune”. Use TAs in all boss fights from now on, they’re always worth the trouble, since they’re just as powerful as a Rogress attack, and they can be done much more often! Well follow the path out, it’s not too much farther. World Map: To Batrachites! It’s to the west, btw. Batrachites: We need find this town’s Rogress. L’Arc insists we ask the locals. You could do that. Or you could just head off to the left and see a cut scene. After the cut scene, you will regain control. Walk over to where Alf is for another cut scene. Seems Adele really has it in for L’Arc. The woman will only get more insane as time goes by. Well coming here was a total loss. Blast! The team decides to head off to Ebur, which is to the North West. Way North. Way west. Explore the town and stock up on items, then, get out. World Map: It’s off the Ebur we go! Head up in a general NW direction and you’ll reach it. Look for an area covered in hills. Then seek out the only town in those hills. That’s Ebur. Ebur: Head off to the right for a cut scene. Seems we need to talk a little girl named Maria about the next Rogress. To do that, we need to explore some Ruins. Stock up on items before leaving town, this is your last chance for a long while. World Map: The Ebur Ruins are just North of Ebur. Ebur Ruins: See the green save point? Use it. It’s the only one in the whole dungeon. So if you lose against the boss, you will have start all over from this point. ISN’T HAT EXCITING? Well anyways, all but the left path are blocked off. Go down it to reach the next area and find another cut scene. When the cut scene’s over, go back to the save point and save. This is your last chance in this dungeon to save. Then enter the hall to the far right of Alf to get a chest. Then talk to Alf for a cut scene. You get to choose what two characters come with you, out of Niko, Ryfia, and Cecile. The characters you choose just change what happens during certain cut scenes, but it’s pretty minor. L’Arc’s Group: We start off with L’Arc’s group. L’Arc’s group gets access to all items you have with you at this point. I highly recommend battling all monsters you encounter, to level yourself up. Leslie joins us as a Guest. The great thing about this dungeon is that it’s pretty much impossible to get lost. There’s just one path. That’s it! Kso, go down the path. Eventually, you’ll find some stairs that lead down, and statues next to the stairs bottom. EXAMINE ALL THREE STATUES! Now continue up the second flight of stairs and follow the path. I believe there’s a chest along the way. Eventually you’ll arrive at a room with three statues. Press A on the left statue ONCE. Press A on the Right statues, 3 TIMES. LEAVE THE CENTER ALONE. The door will open. Go down the stairs to switch over to… Alf’s Group: Now we’re with Alf’s group. You might as well take this opportunity to take notes on the group’s attacks, and what they all do. :> Alf, Clyde, and Jackasschanter are PC, and Adele is a Guest. You can battle monsters if you want, but you might as well just move on with the level. Follow the path. There are no chests for Alf’s group’s segment. Eventually you’ll come to a staircase. Go down the one in back and then enter the doorway to find a little grey design on the floor. Step on it to unlock the door in the distance. Exit and go back up the stairs, then up and to the left to continue on along the path. You’ll find the door, go through it to switch too… Rastin’s Group: With Rastin’s group we find that Serge and Rastin have a bit of history. Their history will be elaborated much more later. For now, it can be ignored. Start off by heading straight forward to find a statue. Examine it. Go back and to the left. Go all the way down the hall to find a cut scene and a statue. Examine the statue. Head back, and enter the room in this hall, it’s close to the entrance. There are two statues here. Turn them so they’re facing backwards. This unlocks the door in the room where the left statue was. Go back there and through the door to switch back too… L’Arc’s Group: Follow the path, again. In the 2nd to last room, you will find two statues, examine them both. Then continue on to the last room. Turn the front left statues so it’s facing right, and repeat with the back one. This triggers a cut scene, and a quick monster battle. Rastin’s Group: We’re back to Rastin’s group. The stairs in front of you lead to nowhere, so ignore them and follow the path right. At the end of the last path you will find a statue, examine it, and then exit to help L’Arc’s group. Turn the right statue until you hear a click. Cut scene happens, then you get your choice between, Cecil or Niko. I recommend Niko. L’Arc’s Group: Just follow the path. Be sure to pick up the chest when you find it, and equip the armor to L’Arc. Follow the path until control switches over. Alf’s Group: Just follow, follow, follow , follow the yellow brick road! Eventually you’ll reach the area where Rastin’s duking it out with dragons. You’ll enter a small monster battle. Defeat them to move on. L’Arc’s Group: We’re about to fight a boss. So prepare accordingly. You should have picked up the Topaz amulet along the way. Equip it to somebody. I put it on L’Arc. The upcoming boss likes to petrify people, and that amulet completely prevents that. :> Be sure you’re at least level 26. Follow the path, and enter the big hall for a cut scene. ---------------------- BOSS: Gula [GLA] Attacks: Petrify Breath –Earth Damage to an area. Has a high chance of inflicting the Petrify status upon a character. Logos of Integrity- Deals massive Earth damage. By some miracle, L’Arc was able to avoid this when I fought Gula. So despite its wide range, it is possible to get out of the range. Full Barrage- Large Area attack. Resilient Wave- Ups his defense stats. Magic: Earth. Duh. Weak: Wind Strategy: Spread everyone out, and have Niko go on Raystone- killing duty. Keep everyone on the defensive at all times. Use Simmah at the start, though it’s not all that effective. When you have the chance, use TAs. Otherwise, just keep defending and healing. Use Wind-based magic chains to deal even more damage. When your characters start to get antsy, saying they have a bad feeling, he’s about to use his Logos, so you really need to Defend that turn. Eventually he’ll go down. END BOSS ------------- You’ll see a cut scene, and then bond with Gula. 2 down, 7 more to go. When you regain control of L’Arc, head all the way to the right, and follow the path to reach two chests and the Area Map. Then go back to the Hall of Bonding and exit through the far left hallway. There’s really nothing else to do here, you can explore the area where the dragons came out of, but other than that, it’s time to leave. World Map: Head back to Ebur. That’s to the south, btw. Ebur: Cut scene as we enter. Stock up on items and leave. World Map: The next destination is Jada. But to get to Jada, we need to go to some Gorge to the North West. Head in the north west direction until you see a very long bridge. Go across it. There is a Moon Inn close by. Heal up there, the Gorge is just slightly SW of the inn. Galois Ravine [GALRAV]: Follow the path downwards and to the left. There’s a little sunflower poking out on the left side. That’s an optional boss. I’d reccamend you ignore it for now, it’s doesn’t give anything Important. Continue along the path, going left, until you find a ladder. Go down the ladder. Press the switch to your right side, and then go down the ladder to your left. Go right across the bridge, and press the switch to your right. Then step on the switch just above you. Now go across the bridge to your right. Continue right, follow the path upwards, and to the left, until you find a switch. Press the switch, then go across the bridge, going left. Then go back to where the long bridge was. Go left across it. Go down the ladder. Contiune to press switches, go across bridges, and go down the ladders until you reach the bottom. Once at the bottom, there is a save point to the lower right. Save. Get yourself ready for a good long boss fight. Go upwards, and to the left, until it asks you to hop across the rocks. Press A to hop over to the Boss. ------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Chimera (body parts…) [CHMA] Attacks: All body parts have their own magic and special attack. Hand of Wrath (Hands)- Massive fire damage to a single target. Gluttony Sigh (Head)- damage to an area. Can cause Level Down. Wings of Sloth (Wings)- Damage to an area. Can cause Level Down. Big Sin – All parts. His ultimate attack, this is the attack your characters will get antsy about before he uses it. Magic: Fire and Earth Weak: Lightening (Wind + water) Strategy: First of all, don’t bother trying to kill all the body parts. Though it will cripple him significantly, in my opinion, it’s just a waste of time. They don’t have their own individual health bars, just share one big giant one. Start off by spreading your peeps out. The field’s rather smallish, so you won’t be able to spread em out far enough to avoid his ultimate attack. :/ But , spreading em out will at least help you avoid his other attacks. I recommend just firing on one part, and ignoring all else. I went for the default target, his head. You can use your Rogress if you want, though it should be noted that he has resistance to both elements you have right now, so they’ll do little damage. You’re better off just going for a TA. :> Defend and heal often. And use TAs at every chance you have. Use Niko to take care of the Raystones, since he doesn’t have to leave his position to do that. A word of caution: on the turn you get the Chimera’s HP down to 0, he will automatically use his Ultimate attack on you. If just one character survives, you win. If you all die, you have to do it aaaaaall over again. ;) END BOSS ------------ After you beat the boss, there’s a small cut scene. There’s a rock in the background, use the Kopin to break it, then hop across for a chest. Hop back across and hop across to the left. Use the lift to straight up. You’ll see another cut scene. Talk to the guards when you’re ready to leave. You’ll see another cut scene, then it’s time to get the hell out. World Map: We’re off to Topazion. You’re just north of it. Head a little south west to get there. Topazion: Go ahead and stock up while you’re here. Walk in a little further and talk to Luze for a cut scene. Then take a quick rest at the Inn to heal up then leave. World Map: Seems Alf’s causing a little trouble on the east coast. Head directly east of Topazion, the place we’re looking for is just directly south of the Gorge. There’s a little ship on the beach. That’s our destination. Make sure you’re ready for a fight. Enter the Beach for a cut scene. -------------------------------------------- BOSS: Alf, Adele, and Leslie [AG1] Attacks: You should already know from battling with them. It hasn’t really changed. Though they have learned some new ones: Trinity Act- just like your motley crew, they can also use Trinity Acts. And they’re just as effective at it. In fact, they’ll open with one. Luckily they can only attack one person with this. Your characters will get antsy when they’re about to use it. Decadent Song (Adele)- Adele’s new ultimate Excel Act. What fun. Not only will it deal massive damage, and is ranged, but it will in inflict lowered stats on those it hits. Your characters will get antsy when she’s going to use this. Rogress Release (Alf)- Just like L’Arc, Alf can summon Rogress. But unlike L’Arc, Alf can do it twice in one battle. That Freakn jackass! Your characters will get antsy when he’s going to do this. Magic: Expect magic of all elements. They tend to stick to wind, fire and darkness, though. Weak: None Strategy: And so begins the fights where winning isn’t totally necessary. Beating these a-holes is very hard to do, so if you lose, don’t feel bad. I lost to them too. :) BUT, it is entirely possible to beat them. My brother beat em, here’s what he did: Spread your characters out, like always. Summon a Rogress, he used Gula, though SImmah is just as effective, to deal some damage to all three straight away. Then defend, heal and wait for a chance to use a TA. Your goal is down Alf first. Try to do it before he’s able to summon a Rogress. Then KO Adele. Leslie will fall with little trouble. END BOSS ------------ If you lost, you see a cut scene, and Alf gets the Rogress Rofunga. If you win, you see a cut scene, and you get Rofunga. Either way, you need to head back to Topazion. Topazion: Head to the inn and rest up. You’ll see a quick cut scene. Then it’s off to Jada. World Map: TO JADA! It’s location hasn’t changed in the last few hours, it’s still south of Topazion. Jada: View the cut scene. Stock up on items here, then head on over to Dragon Prison. Dragon Prison [DRPR2]: Use the save point. The monsters on this floor and the Top Floor are good monsters to train against. Fight them until your RP is refilled. Go into the Lift and head for the basement level, and walk up to the Golem thing to fight an optional boss. Your prize for beating it is a sword for Rastin that gives him auto-defend Arm Forces. :> It likes to put up a shield often, so use chain attacks to bring it down. It’s really not that tough, and don’t waste your Rogress. When you’re ready, head for the Top Floor. I recommend being at about level 32. Head down, towards the camera for two chests. Then head back and to the right. Prepare yourself for a boss fight. Continue on the path until you see a cut scene. ------------------------ BOSS: Weiss [WSS] Attacks: Capricious Wing- Ups his stats Dragon Charge- Deals massive damage to one person. If you can defend when he does this, the damage done will be severely reduced. Dark Flame- Ultimate attack. Your characters will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Deals massive damage to an area, inflicting both Poison AND sick on those it hits. Magic: Earth, Fire, and Darkness Weak: Wind Strategy: Spread your peeps out. Use Simmah as soon as you can. Defend and heal until you get the chance to get a Trinity Act in. Keep defending and healing, and using TAs until he goes down. Make sure to destroy the Raystones. If the Raystone is Water (which tends to happen a lot), don’t destroy it, instead use water heal magic, which will sync with the raystone and up its power. When your characters warn you he’s about to use Dark Flame, have them just defend that turn. He’ll go down eventually, don’t worry. END BOSS ------------ You’ll see a cut scene of epicness, then we get the Lightship! World Map: Another epic cut scene. Then it’s time to get busy. We need to head off to Ebur. Ebur: Follow the path through town, up the hill, into the next screen. You’ll see a cut scene. Then go back to your Lightship. Stock up on items on your way out. World Map: Head back to your Lightship for a cut scene. Seems we need to head to the Gula Church west of here. Sounds like fun. Gula Church Ruins [GULCH]: There’s a save point to the right of the church. It’s the only one in this area, so save up. Now enter the church. Head all the way to the back of the church of a chest, then go to the door with a seal on it. You’ll see a cutscene and the door is opened. Continue through the hall and go down the stairs to your right. Continue down the hall and examine the sparkly spot, then head further in for a cutscene. After a quick cutscene, the real dungeon begins. Follow the hall way until you see a cutscene. Then go down the hall on your left. Keep going and you’ll find a chest, then go through the blue door. Go right, and then up the stairs. Go right. At the next intersection, go right. There’s some buttons on the ground in this dungeon, always avoid them. Follow the path for a cutscene. Go left at the intersection for a chest. Then go back and down the right path, until you go up some stairs again. Go down the path, and down first hallway you see on the left. Then enter the room on your left for a sparkly spot and chest. Go back and enter the Yellow seal door for a chest. The yellow door ahead just has a monster. Continue onwards until you find a Blue door, onwards the blue door, and you’re out. Get ready for a Boss. After a cutscene, we fight. ---------------------------- BOSS: Kanher [KNHR] Attacks: Chaos Piller- Dark damage to an area. Lowers resitances to Water and Wind. Abyss Blast- Damage to an area. Your chars will get antsy about it. Magic: Lightening. He also knows the Level 3 Light attack Banishing Ray, and your chars will get antsy about it. Weak: None. Strategy: Just the same strategy used on Weiss. This was the first boss I beat my first try, so don’t worry, he’s not that hard. This is one of the few fights where you don’t have to worry about destroying the Raystones. END BOSS ------------ You see cut scene after you beat it, then it’s time to get out. After exiting the church you see another Cut scene. Things are about to get real fun. --------------------------- BOSS: Ignacy [IGCY1] Attacks: Dark Blade- Exactly like Rastin’s, only more powerful. Magic: None that I saw Strategy: Lose. No, seriously. If you use an analyzer, you’ll find he’s at level 56 and has an ungodly amount of HP for this point in the game. You can try fighting, but his Arm Forces will prevent you from really doing any damage at all. In the end, all you can do is just let him KO you. END BOSS ------------- After suffering a humiliating and unavoidable loss, you’ll see a cut scene. Leslie will join us as a Guest. Then, It’s off to Ebur. World Map: Head to Ebur. Ebur: You’ll see a quick cut scene, and Leslie leaves. Serge decides to stick it out a little longer with you. Head back to Grantz and talk to him for a cut scene. Then go back to your Lightship World Map: Go back to you Lightship Old Lightship: After a lovely cut scene, Serge joins us as a PC character. And now we can use the lightship. The game finally explains how to use the World map. Jeeze that’s only like, twenty hours late. *rolls eyes* Cecille gives you the run down on how to control the Lightship. PAY ATTENTION. |:< If you pay attention to the skits after receiving the Lighship, you’ll find out that you can customize it by locating more parts. We’ll learn more about that in the game… when we actually ya know, find some parts. For now, don’t worry about it. Now you have your choice of four Rogress to go after, two are in the southern tip of the Meridian Empire, in the desert, and one’s just a hop and skip away from you, slightly to the SE. Let’s go there! World Map: Okay, here’s the deal. I will 1st cover all the Rogress dungeons and fights. After you complete a Rogress dungeon, whether you bonded or not, you will still see a cut scene upon exiting the dungeon: If this was your 1st Rogress after getting the lightship, you will see a cut scene, and then you need to head North to Opalus. Follow the events there as they happen. If this was your 2nd Rogress after getting the Lightship, you’ll see a cut scene, fight a quick boss, then you must head for the doctor’s hut, north east of Carbunculus. Follow the events as they happen. If you got Rofunga, you will have more events, and not be allowed to attempt another Rogress. If this was your 3rd Rogress after getting the Lightship, you will see a cut scene, and then it’s off the Republic Senate for a chat. Follow the events as they happen, and enjoy end game as the plot finally unravels. After I cover the Rogress dungeons and fights, I will cover the events mentioned above in more detail. It is impossible for you get all the Rogress at this point in the game, remember that. So you must pick and choose the ones you think you’ll need. Rogress I recommend you go after: Paprisagu- He’s very usefull for later bosses. Especially for a certain man with a death wish. Urgula- Another one that’s rather useful for later bosses. His sync is also quite nice, upping your attack, which is good if you tend to use a more offense-oriented strategy most of the time. Squill- Though not as usefull as the other two, he is quite nice to have. Only go after him if you DID NOT get Rufunga. Oh before we go off on a merry Rogress hunt, take note of the fact that once you pick one and enter the dungeon, and find out what must be done to get to the end, well, there’s no turning back and leaving until the job is done and the Rogress is yours. So in other words, if you decide you don’t want the rogress after getting it… well unless you saved outside the dungeon and not inside, that’s the end of it, tough luck. Soliton Caves [SOLCAV1]: Location: Slightly SE of Ebur. Go along the path upwards and to the right. Continue onwards to the next screen. In the next screen, go all the way right to get a chest. Then go back, and take the path upwards, and follow that to the right to the next screen. Keep going right. In the next screen, go right then upwards, along the path. In the next screen, there’s a chest that you’ll see. Get it. Then use the save point. Follow the path downwards to the next screen. Continue downwards. At the bottom, go hop across the gap to the left and contine left for the map and a chest. Then go back and continue to the right for the Boss. You will see a cutscene. Seems Alf beat us. Oh well. Let the fight, begin! ------------------------ BOSS: Squill [SQL] Attacks: Logos of Surging- Water damage to the whole field. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Wave of Surging- Heals some HP. Magic: Water, duh. Weak: Fire Strategy: So apparently this is a test of strength. You can’t truly beat him, as he will stop the battle after a short while. Your goal is to just go all out. I was unable to win him over, so I’m not sure how much damage you must do to win his Logos. Sorry. If you have Urgula, now might be a good time to use him, may help you win Squill over. EDIT: Someone who prefers not to be credited has informed me on how to win Squill over. Here’s what he said to do: “To get him, I believe you have to take his 31000 or so hp down within the allotted time. I tried him out twice and the first time I didn't do so well, he went over to Alf. The second time I blasted him with whole-party sync Lvl 2 fire magic, each time it takes out slightly over 10000 and then Urgula did the job. Some hacking and slashing happened in between but generally if the entire party has 4 Lvl 2 MP they should get the Logos of Surging easily. Note: taking out the Raystones is extremely important. It'd be better if L'Arc (or shield character taunting Squill) was equipped with Aquamarine and the others Water Amulet. Without water resistance, when he chains a Raystone (sometimes he can sync to nothing on top of that), it's almost a guaranteed instant KO for any character.” So basically, just go all out, and don’t let up. TAs aren’t worth it since the SP recharge time is too long for this battle. END BOSS ------------- If you won, you see a cut scene, and you bond with him. If you lost, you see a cut scene and Alf bonds with him. Either way, it’s time to go. Make your way out of the cave. Zeifelt Holy Tower [ZEIHOTWR1]: Location: North Eastern part of the desert, located on the southern tip of the Meridia Continent. Apparently there’s 100 floors in this place, and the Rogress Papigusu is at the very top. You’re racing Alf here, but not just yet, so chill out. Start out by using the save point. That’s the only Save point in the building, so be careful. Fight monsters only in this 1st part, and the basement levels, I’ll explain in more detail why later. For now, head up the stairs. Follow the path then go up more stairs. There’s a chest just behind the monster, on a ledge as you enter the 2nd floor of this room. Continue on to the right, hop across the gap, and go down the stairs. Follow the path and go down the other stairs and follow the path to the door. There’s a pot to your right, ignore it. That’s a tough-ass optional boss. You’re now in the Elevator hall. Head for the stairs for a cut scene. Seems the group’s filled with lazyasses. So head to the elevator for another cut scene. Then go into the right elevator and head down to the basement. The path diverges just ahead, the left path leads to a chest, and the right path leads to the Ray console. You’ll see a cut scene at the Ray console, then it’s time to head back to the entrance hall place. There is a sparkly spot on the right side of the entrance room, 2nd floor. Examine it for the missing part. Make your way back to the save point. This is your last chance to save. You have from now and until you get the elevator working to level up. So get to it. Once back at the Ray Console, you’ll see a cut scene, and the elevator’s fixed. Now before you head back up, make sure your weapons and armor is ready for a boss fight. Make sure you have the Arm Force Boost Flee equipped to one of your weapons. Now head up for a cut scene. Let the race to the top, BEGIN! Head up either stairs. And just keep going up stairs. You’ll see Alf’s group in the elevator, slowly going up. That’s your timer. So long as you keep reaching the next floor before they do, you’re good. FLEE FROM ALL MONSTER FIGHTS. Monster fights waste your time. YOU HAVE NO TIME. I’m serious. This is what Boost Flee is for, helping you get out of the fights. Ignore chests as well. You’ll be coming back, so don’t worry. Your goal is to reach the 11th floor before Alf. That’s right. Just the 11th. You don’t have to go up all 100. ;) Upon reaching the 11th floor, you’ll see a cut scene. Now there’s a chest to your right that you should get. Equip the item you find in there right away. I put it on L’Arc, since if he’s silenced, he can’t summon Rogress. Heal yourself as quickly as possible, then head straight for the top floor, using the glowing circle thing in the center of the room. Now here’s where you can tell if you did things right and didn’t waste any time. If you get to the top and nobody’s there, you get to fight the Boss and bond with the Rogress. If you get there and Alf’s there… well, too bad. He got it. Reset if you want and try again. --------------------------------- BOSS: Paprisgusu [PPGU] Attacks: Chain of Jade- attacks one person, has a very high chance of inflicting Silence, and downed defense Logos of Omniscience- deals massive wind damage to a large area. Your characters will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Breeze wings- deals wind damage to an area Omniscient Wave- raises his speed stats Magics: Wind. Weak: Earth Strategy: use your analyzer, and spread everyone out. Have Leslie/Niko take care of the Raystones. This is a fight where destroying raystones is of a very high priority. If he gets a sync with one, he can KO a character with just one hit. Use Gula the first chance you get, to take advantage of his Earth weakness. Defend, heal often, and use TAs whenever you get the chance. If you play your cards right, it’s possible to do a TA called Geo Impact, which is Earth-based. Just use Excel Acts that have an SP cost of 30% or greater. If you lose the fight, Alf bonds with him. END BOSS ------------ You’ll see a cut scene. If you won, you bond with the Rogress. If you lost, Alf does. Just as with all Rogress dungeons, as you exit, you’ll see a cut scene, depending on which number Rogress this is after getting the Lightship. Ellgode Volcano [ELVOL1]: Location: East of Carbunculus. You must take the Lightship and land at the top. The game does a good job of not telling you that you’re racing Alf. This means you can’t waste any time here. Unlike in Zeifelt, it’s fine to battle monsters, just don’t battle too many. Try your best to avoid monster fights, but if you get in one, go ahead and kill em. Ignore the chests you find along the way, you can come back for them. Anyways. Start off by just following the path to the right and up. Eventually, the path diverges. Take the left path for a chest that contains the Ruby. Equip it to avoid status effects caused by Fire magic. Then go back and take the right path upwards and to the next screen. Continue on upwards until you find a rock. Press A to have Kopin get rid of it, then hop across the gap. Follow the path and take a right to find another rock, once again, press A to get Kopin to destroy it, then hop across the gap. The path continues upwards and diverges. To right is a cave, The cave is a bit of a maze. Don’t bother with it, for now. Instead go left and follow the path to the next screen. Follow the path up until you see a rock bridge on the left, go across it, and continue upwards until you see another on the right, go across it. Continue to follow the path up until you find a cave, go inside. Follow the path to the right and up until you see a cut scene. The cut scene is important. PAY ATTENTION. If they say “It sounds like they’re behind us…”, then you’re doing good. Continue at your pace, and you’ll get to the boss 1st. If they say “It sounds like they might be ahead…”, then you lost the race. Reset and try again. Continue forwards and you’ll discover a cracked bridge. This next part can spell your doom, if you’re not careful. LIGHTLY, press on the control stick so you’re walking SLOWLY. Just take it slow. Assuming the cut scene told you that you’re ahead, you should be fine, so take your time. Yes I know, that’s a bad rhyme. Ahem, so anyways, get across the cracked bridge, and continue forwards, to the left to find another cracked bridge. SLOWLY make your way across that one, and follow the path upwards. Keep going up until you see a sparkly spot, that’s the map. Pick it up, then make your way over to the left. There’s two more cracked bridges along the way, so be careful. If you mess up and fall just one time, you lose the race. Eventually, you’ll reach a save point. Now here’s the deal about the save point. If you’re like 99% sure that you’re still ahead of Alf, use the save point. If you’re unsure, don’t use it. Seriously. Now step into the cave and view the cut scene. If you won the race, you’ll get to fight the boss. If you lost, Adele tells you off in a wonderful cut scene. Damn, that woman knows how to hold a grudge. --------------------------- BOSS: Urgula [UGLA] Attacks: Logos of Valor- One of the most powerful Logos in the game. Your characters will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Valiant Wave- gives him the Reflect Damage status. DO NOT ATTACK WHY HE HAS IT. It will reflect back ALL DAMAGAE. That no es bueno! Lava Hammer- Fire damage to an area. Has a high chance to inflict Downed Defense and Confusion. Assault- untyped attack on one person. Has a high chance of poisoning target. Magic: Fire. Der. Weak: Water Strategy: So just like with all boss fights, we start by spreading everyone out. In this fight, it’s actually not that important, since most Fire magic is single-target. But it always helps to be prepared, just in case. Defend and heal often. If you managed to get Squill, now’s the time to use him. If not, don’t worry, Papisusgu and Gula work just as well. Like always, I had Niko/Leslie continually kill Raystones. They don’t have to leave their position to do it. Water Magic attack chains are always a good plan in this fight. Use your TAs often, this is a fight where getting Mystic Fortune something you should try for, to take advantage of the water weakness. Urgula is among the hardest of the Rogress to take down, but don’t worry, he’ll go down eventually. END BOSS ------------ If you win, you bond with him. If you lose, Alf does the bonding. Use your map to locate and get all the chests on your way back. You have the map now, so I don’t need to tell you where they are. Ruins of Hibert [RUNHIB1]: Location: Western part of the desert in the southern tip of Meridia. There is an upside-down V-shape with a dot at the tip, on your map. The dot is the Ruins of Hibert. In my opinion, this Rogress, though useful, isn’t really worth going after. But if you really want to, here’s how: So if you head all the way to the back, you’ll see a frog Optional Boss. This is your only chance to fight him, so if you want to take him on, you have from now until you complete 3 (or 2) Rogress Dungeons to beat him. There’s a chest down the path behind him, too. If you’d rather skip over that for now, start by head down the first path you see on the right. Keep going to the next screen. You’ll find a little save point. Continue to follow the path to the next screen. There’s a chest all the way to the right, then get back on the main path until you see a cutscene. So the point of this dungeon is to find all the Undead Sauroids and bring them peace. Fun. That’s one down. For the next one, backtrack to where the save point was. You’ll see a cutscene and do a quick fight. Now to back the next screen and continue along the path, until you reach the next area. The next Sauroid’s on the right. Follow the path all the way right, then go down, and to the left, for a Sauroid and chest. Continue to the next screen. Follow the path and on your left will be a crumbled wall. Have Kopin break it down to find a Sauroid. This one won’t move until you find mom. Go along the path, and follow downwards, right. You’ll find the mom. Now go back to the kid for a cutscene. Be sure to get the chest that was behind the kid. Back up and continue on upwards, right path until you reach the next screen. Keep on the path for the save point and map. Head into the next screen for a cutscene and fight. ---------------------------- BOSS: Banchu [BNCU] Attacks: Logos of Protection- negates all physical attacks, thus rendering your TAs useless for a short while. This is the only Logos that your chars don’t get antsy about. Lulz. Ground Shot- Single Target Poisonous Vapors- Damage to an area. Has a chance of poisoning. He will Sync It up to Oppressed Anger on occasion. That can cause Sleep. When he does that, your chars will get antsy. Pride Wave- Ups stats Magic: None Weak: ALL ELEMENTS. 8D Strategy: Spread everyone out, and defend often. Use any Rogress when you can. Since he’s weak to all elements, it’s fine to abuse your magics. You should especially abuse Magic after he uses the Logos of Protection, which renders all Physical attacks completely useless for about three turns. Check to make sure he doesn’t have the “No Physical” status, then go ahead and use your TA. Defend and heal often. He should go down pretty easy, with his severe weakness to all elements. END BOSS ------------ You see a cut scene. Depends if you win or lose. On your way out, you see another, depending on how many Rogress you’ve attempted so far. AFTER ROGRESS EVENTS Depending which number Rogress dungeon it is after getting the light ship, you’ll see a different cut scene, and have to do certain events before attempting the next Rogress dungeon. The scenes happen whether you got the Rogress or not. All that matters is that you made it to the dungeon’s Hall of Bonding, and came back. Also, if you managed to get Rofunga, you will only be allowed to attempt 2 Rogress. If you did not get Rofunga, you will be allowed to attempt 3 Rogress. Either way, Alf gets whatever ones you don’t. After the 1st [ROG1]: After completing the 1st Rogress dungeon, and leaving it, you will see a cut scene. Then you need to head to the snowy continent in the North and go to the city of Opalus. It’s the only flashy white dot on that continent on your map. Opalus: Stock up on items while you’re here. This is the 1st town that has High Liquids in stock. Follow the path through the town to the Local School. Then head up to the courtyard for a cut scene. After the cut scene head for the door in front of you for another cut scene. Then it’s off to Carbunculus. World Map: Head to Carbunculus, to the slight SE. Carbunculus: Make a beeline for the Senate. You’ll see a cut scene. Then it’s back to Opalus. World Map: You’ll see a cut scene in the lightship. Head back to Opalus in the North for another cut scene. The lightship lands North of Opalus. Head back into town. Opalus: Head back to the military HQ for another cut scene. Then we’re off to the Snowy Temple. World Map: The Snowy Temple’s directly west of your location. Resolvent Iceberg (aka the Snowy Temple): You’ll see a quick cut scene. Star by following the path up, there’s ladder to the left, go up it for a chest. Then get back to the path and follow it until you see a cut scene. Leslie will join you as a Guest for a quick monster battle, then leave. After another cut scene, follow the path to the right. Keep following it upwards. There’s a chest to the right, Follow the path to the ladder and go up the ladder. Follow the path to the next screen, for a quick ice skating puzzle. Ice Puzzle solutions: If you’d rather just move on with life and keep going forward, then just go up, right, up, and you’re out. Up, right, down, left, up right for a chest. Then go right, up for a fake chest. Then go down, right for a monster battle. Then right up, down, right for the last chest. Continue the follow the path upwards and then to the right. Keep going right and follow the path to the end until you see a series of cut scenes. Then you do a quick monster battle. After all the cut scenes, head back down and to the left until you meet back up with Rastin. You see a series of cut scenes and battles. Then another cut scene. Then go back to where Ryfia’s singing. Another cut scene or two. Then it’s time to go back to Opulus. Make your way back to the World Map. World Map: Opalus is just east of you. Opalus: Go back to the Military HQ. You’ll see a few cut scenes along the way. After all the events of Opulus are finished it’s time to attempt another Rogress. After the 2nd Rogress dungeon [ROG2]: On the way out of the 2nd Rogress dungeon, you’ll see a few cut scenes. At the very exit, another cut scene, and a quick boss. -------------------------- BOSS: Aliocer [ALCR] Attacks: All attacks are untyped, ‘cept for his ultimate. Tail Swing- damage to an area. Spiked Tail- More powerful version of the tail swing. Gravitation Summoner- does massive Dark damage to an area. Your characters will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: None Strategy: Ok, don’t worry. This boss is really easy. But, if you lose to him, you may have to redo the Rogress battle, depending on when you last saved. So, don’t lose. This is a battle where keeping your chars spread out is very important. All his moves are Area moves. The farther apart you are, the better. You probably don’t have your RP recharged by now. But if you do, take your pick of Rogress and use it. Trinity Acts are your best friend. Just defend and heal often, you’ll be fine. END BOSS ------------ After beating the boss, exit the dungeon. World Map: Head to your lightship for a quick cut scene. We’re off to a small hut that’s just slightly NE of Carbunculs. It’s the area's Moon Inn, so if you visited it during your travels, you should be familiar with it, if not, it’s the flashy dot on your map. Go there! Moon Inn: Head for the little house for a cut scene or two. World Map: Ryfia has left us, we need to get her back! Head to Carbunculus! Carbunculus: Walk towards the Artist’s zone for a cut scene. Seems we need to have a chat with Hosea. Leave town. World Map: To Benetnasch! Benetnasch: Head to the cathedral for another cut scene. Head to the right and down to find Ryfia hanging out by it a ruined house. Talk to her for a cut scene. The rest of the group’s hanging out on the stone circle at the town entrance. Go there for another cut scene. Now go back to the cathedral. Kick some ass and go where Hosea is for another cut scene. Then leave town. World Map: To Carbunculus! Again! Carbunculus: Make a beeline for the Senate building. You’ll see a cut scene. Save at the entrance. Seems we need pay another visit to the dungeon. Senate Dungeon: Our goal is the Execution Area. So head there. That’s the area through the door in the Special Cells, the area we previously used to escape from. Battle all foes along the way to build up RP and level yourself up. As you go along, you’ll see some cut scenes. Bare in mind that there is no backtracking in this dungeon. Once you get to the Execution Area, you’ll see a cut scene. Leslie joins us a Guest for nice, reasonably challenging boss fight. ---------------------------------------------- BOSS: Paula and Luna, take 2 [PL2] Attacks: Magical Gemini (Both)- essentially, their version of a TA. When one goes down, it can no longer be used. Your chars will get antsy when it’s about be used. Disintegration (Paula)- a more powered up version of Dance of Flames. Dance of Flames (Paula)- hasn’t changed since last time. Divine Gift (Luna)- Grants her resistance to all elements. Six Lights (Luna)- Hasn’t changed since last time. Magic: between the two of them, all elements. Weak: N/A Strategy: Leslie, as always, is a welcome addition to the battle field. She attacks often and will even heal you quite a bit. But anyways, the bosses. Spread everyone out. If you used analyzers on them last time, you need to do it again. Defend often. Be sure to take care of the raystones at all times. If Paula gets a sync with them, you’re screwed. She knows stat-raiser magics, and they can screw you over if you’re not careful about the raystones. If you can, use a Rogress to deal massive damage to both right away. Spend the rest of the battle using TAs when you can. Just like last time, KO Luna 1st, then go for Paula. It’ll take a while, but they’ll go down. END BOSS ------------ You’ll see another cut scene. Seems Niko ran away. AGAIN. Bah, who needs him! D:< Well you’re done with this place, time to get out. Carbunculus: The Douglas house is located in the Artist’s Zone. It’s on the left side, by the circular street. Enter the house for a cut scene. Then it’s time to leave town. At the town entrance: IF YOU GOT RUFUNGA: you see a cut scene. Then go back to the Senate. Follow the 3rd Rogress events described below. Leslie joins a PC character. When you get back on you lightship, you’ll see a cut scene. IF YOU DID NOT GET RUFUNGA: you see a cut scene. Then leave town and go to your lightship for another cut scene. Leslie joins as a PC character, then it’s time to attempt one last Rogress. After the 3rd Rogress attempt [ROG3]: After exiting the final Rogress dungeon, you’ll see a cut scene. Then you’ll be asked if you wish to go directly to the Senate. SAY YES. Senate: After a cut scene, we’re off to Diamont. So leave town. World Map: Diamont’s location hasn’t changed. Get the hell over there! Diamont: Make a beeline for the castle. You’ll see a cut scene. Royal Castle: You’ll see a cut scene, then it’s time to leave! Go to the throne room on the top floor. The guards are out to get you, so watch out. Once in the throne room, you’ll see a cut scene. The guards are no longer out to get you. Leave the castle. Diamont: Head to the Martial Arts school for a cut scene. Go to your bed and rest up. Then head back to the castle. Royal Castle: Go to Weiss’s office for a cut scene. Then it’s off to the Senate. World Map: Head on over to Carbunculus. Carbunculus: Make a beeline for the Senate. Senate: You’ll see a cut scene, then be asked if you wish to head straight for Batrachites. SAY YES. Batrachites: You’ll see a series of cut scenes. Then two monster battles. Now make your way back to the town entrance for a cut scene, and monster battle along the way. Once at the entrance, you’ll see another cut scene. Then it’s time to skip town, before you join those undead soldiers. World Map: Get in your lightship and head west until you see the ship. That’s your destination. After a quick cut scene, you’ll land and get the pleasure of exploring this place. The path through here is very straight forward. There is no boss, so don’t worry! Flagship Percival: So welcome aboard the USS Destruction! We are currently heading for the ocean just below us, and if you look out to your right, you can see your life flashing before your eyes! *ahem* so anyways, we need to find Alf. He’s at the Bridge. Time to get a move on. Use the save point, then head down the stairs. The guards here are itching for a fight, so be careful. Just follow the path until you reach the elevator. There’s two chests along the way, at each intersection. Go up the elevator. You’ll see an epic cut scene, and get your final mission from Weiss. Make your way out of the Flagship and get back on your lightship for a quick, 3-second CG cut scene. World Map: It is decided that the North Noirists are up to something sinister, so the gang decides to find out much of it is true. So we’re off to Benetnasch. Benetnasch: Go to the cathedral. You’ll see several cut scenes. Huzzahs! Now leave town. World Map: We’re off to the Zeiflt Holy Tower. It’s the flashy red dot on the southern part of Meridia. Zeiflle Holy Tower [ZEIHOTWR2]: This is where Papigusu was. If you attempted this dungeon while gathering the Rogress, you should already be familiar with it. If not, see the guide for that part in the Rogress dungeons part. Anywho, go the Elevator room. Use the glowy circle thing and head to the Control Room. That’s the top floor. There’s sparkly things on there, go to them for a cut scene. ??? aka Lascarde aka Ryfia’s miiiiind Go right and down, and through the door to see a cut scene. Now go back and through the giant-ass door. Continue upwards for another cut scene. Keep going forward until you see another cut scene. That’s it. We’re done here. Zeifelt Holy Tower: Another cut scene, then it’s time to go. On your way out you’ll see everybody’s favorite coward in a cut scene. Then we’re off to Ferris. World Map: Ferris is a small desert town in the NW corner of this desert. Ferris: Cut scene upon entering. You can’t buy anything from the shops right now, so don’t even bother. The inn is the only place you go, so go there. You’ll see another cut scene, and another one upon exiting. You’ll get the Resistance Pin, which allows you buy things from this town, and any other town involved in the Resistance. :> Anywho, leader saving times! World Map: Ruins of Hibert are just to the south of us. Ruins of Hibert [RUNHIB2]: If you attempted the Rogress here, you should be familiar with this place already. If not, just read that part of the walkthrough to get yourself oriented. You see a cut scene upon entering, then it’s time to get a move on. Battle all monsters you find here, for the experience, and to recharge RP, if needed. There’s a very tough boss on the way, so get prepared. Make your way to the back of dungeon. Eventually, you’ll run into Clyde. Time for some fun. ----------------------------------------------- BOSS: Clyde (and his goons) [CLDE1] Attacks: High Acceleration- Ups all his attacks stats Sonic Wave- Deals Wind damage to an area Volthorn- Deals Lightening damage to an area. Has a high chance of causing paralysis. Your characters will get antsy when he’s about to us it. He always uses it on the 1st turn. ALWAYS. And he always targets L’Arc. ALWAYS. Magic: Water, Wind, Lightening Strategy: Now, if you’re like me, you’ve been spending the 1st turn of every Boss fight to use an analyzer, spread everyone out, shoot out the Raystones, and then put everyone on defense. This time, we need to do something a little different. If you want to use an analyzer, save it for the next turn. This 1st turn, Clyde will open with his ultimate attack. Now normally, we’d defend and be merry. But this time, things are a little different. If you try to wait for your perfect attack opportunity, it’ll be too late, and the goons will gang rape you. So, what do we do? 1st turn. Use a Rogress. Any will do. I used Urgula. You should have just enough AP leftover to move your other two peeps away from L’Arc. The Rogress should kill all four goons, and deal a good amount of damage to Clyde. Clyde will, of course, still get a hefty hit in on L’Arc. But so long as you were able to move the other two, you should be fine. Just have L’Arc heal up the next turn, and continue on as if it were any other Boss. Destroy the raystones, defend a lot, heal often, and abuse your TAs. He will go down; it’ll just take a very long while. END BOSS ------------ Continue along the path and then go down and to the right to find the um, resistance leader. Damn, that woman looks familiar. >.> As you exit the dungeon, you’ll see a cutscene. Then it’s back to Ferris. World Map: Head back to Ferris. Ferris: Head back to the inn for a cut scene. Stock up on items before you leave. World Map: Back to Carbunculus we go! Carbunculus: Head for the Senate. Senate: The Director gives you a new mission. Exit town. World Map: Seems we need to head over to Ellgode Volcano to put an end to Alf’s Bats**t crazy plans. Clearly this is Adele’s fault. Again. Ellgode Volcano [ELVOL2]: If you came here before to bond with Urgula, you should already know your way around. If not, follow the guide for the Ellgode Volcano in the Rogress Dungeons part. Make your way to the Hall Of Bonding, in the back of the dungeon. You’ll see a cut scene. Leave for another cut scene. Exit the dungeon to get another cut scene. No boss, this time. World Map: We’re off to the Soliton Caves to see what Miss Carsile has to say. The Caves are just north of you. Soliton Caves [SOLCAV2]: This is where Squill was. If you don’t know your way, just follow the path. :> Eventually , you’ll run into a cut scene, and a boss. ---------------------------------- BOSS: Emeraldes [EMRDS] Attacks: Lethal Stomp- his ultimate attack. Deals untyped damage to a small area. Has a high chance of causing Imobilize. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Be warned! Unlike other bosses, on the turn he uses his ultimate, THAT IS NOT THE ONLY ATTACK HE DOES. Also, he has a habit of doing this attack up to three consecutive turns. So, watch out! Weak: Fire Magic: Water Strategy: Ok, just like with Clyde, we want to use a Rogress on the first turn. Urgula is ideal, but Papigusu or Simmah will do just fine. We want to use the Rogress before he uses Magic Shell, which negates ALL magic damage, including Rogress (Rogress count as magic :/)! Now if you never fought the Golem in the Dragon prison, you probably don’t know how to deal with bosses with shields. If you did fight him, you should know the strategy already. :> For the rest of you, it’s quite simple. Before you do any other attacks, you must break the shield with a three-attack chain. The next turn, he will be wide open for a TA. Every 3-4 turns, the shield goes back up. Attack him every other turn to make sure the shield’s down, before using another TA. Defend often, heal often. Make sure to always destroy the raystones. If he gets any syncs in, you’re screwed, without proper water resistant armors. He’ll go down eventually. END BOSS ------------ After the cut scene, follow the path to the right and keep going until you see another cut scene. Leave the caves. We’re off to beat some sense into Alf. World Map: Head for Diamont. Diamont: Go to the castle. You’ll see a few cut scenes along the way. Be sure to save in the Upper Zone. Royal Castle: Head for the throne room. You’ll see a quick lover’s quarrel. Time to end our little feud! ------------------------------------------- BOSS: Alf, Adele and Clyde [AG2] Attacks: Same exact attacks as the last times you fought them. Nothing’s changed. Magic: Between the three of them, all elements. Weak: none. Strategy: SURVIVE. YOU DO NOT NEED TO WIN, BUT YOU CANNOT LOSE. Just defend and heal and don’t die. The battle ends after a few minutes, no matter what. END BOSS ------------ After a cut scene, we’re off to have a proper chat with Hosea. World Map: Lascarde is the flashy dot, near the NW corner of Turemilia. Lascarde Skywalk [LASSKY]: Head for the elevator on the left. Cradle: Go to the right for a save point. Go all the way up until you see a cut scene. Now head back down until you see another cut scene. You’ll see another few cut scenes. A sappy cut scene. Another cut scene. Then we chase after Ignacy. Head back to the previous screen, where the save point was, for another cut scene. Alf joins us for the fight, as a Guest. --------------------------- BOSS: Ignacy [IGCY2] Attacks: Black Shield- raises all his stats Dark Blade- more powerful version of Rastin’s. Ignacy’s version can cause Sick. Divine Slash- attacks one person. Can cause Petrify. Insanity Curse- another one of his ultimates. Deals massive Dark damage to an area. Inflicts both Poison AND Sick. Magic: Fire, Earth, and Darkness. He has the level 4 Dark Magic attack called Chaos Void. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Alf can also use this attack. He can someimtes Sync Choas Void up a level to Void Infinity. Strategy: Finally, we can end the feud with the bastard! Alf is a very handy Guest. He knows just about every heal magic in the game, and will use it often, to aid you. :> He also will deal a lot of damage to Ignacy with his Excel Acts. You need to spread everyone out to lower the effectiveness of the boss’s area attacks. DEFEND A LOT. Heal a lot. Use that Rogress when you get the chance. He has no weakness, so just about any of them will do. If you used an analyzer on him the first time, there is no need to do it this time. Use your TAs at any chance you get. END BOSS ------------ You’ll see a touching cut scene, then we’re off to take care of Hosea. Save before you go. On your right is an item dispenser and first aid thing. The item dispenser is this place’s version of an item shop. Stock up on items, then use the First aid thing to heal up. Go back to the elevator and take it to the airport. Lascarde: Now head over the right side and use that elevator to enter the dungeon. Head right, then straight to the back and press the switch. The monsters here are very tough, so be careful. Head back and to the right, until you’re in the next screen. There’s a chest to the right, continue on the path until you find another switch. Press it to open up another path. Go back to the previous screen, and head back and to the right, down the stairs. Keep going until you’re in the next screen. So basically, you just need to find the switches. Like in all dungeons, there’s just one path, and pretty hard to get lost. ;) Eventually, you’ll reach an elevator that’ll take you to the Guarded Area. The blue door is the Comms Room, go in there for the switch of this floor, then head up the path to the Control Room. After the cut scene, head up the elevator. Follow the path until you reach the save point. The switches are up the stairs on either side, two on each side. Press all four to open the way to the boss. I was around Level 45 when I fought him. -------------------------- BOSS: Hosea [HOSA] Attacks: White Wave- deals massive Light damage to a single target. Has a high chance of causing Silence. Don’t bother curing Silence in this battle. Imaginal’s Revelation- Deals massive Light Damage to an area. Lowers all stats. He only seems to use this when he starts to get low on HP. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: Wind, Fire, Earth, Water, Lightening, and Light. He also uses stat-raisers. Strategy: First of all, he has no weakness, but he does have resistances to all elements. He also has Block Magic, so your magic attacks are completely useless, especially with his elemental resistances. Ironically, his Block Magic can actually work against him when he uses stat-raising magic. XD Despite the elemental resistances, still use your Rogress, and TAs when you get the chance. They’re still the most powerful weapons you have against him. I had Leslie equipped with the Heavy Arms gun, which raised her HP by 2000, making her much harder to kill. Be sure to keep destroying the raystones. Defending and healing becomes more and more important the lower his HP goes. END BOSS ------------- After the cut scene, head back to the Comms room, where the switch was? Yeah, that place. You see another cut scene. Head down the elevator to get to the control room. You see a touching cut scene, then head back to the Comms room. Now leave the dungeon part and go back the Cradle. Cradle: You see a cut scene. Save, heal, stock up on items. Now go back to the dungeon part. Lascarde: Head to the right elevator, you’ll be asked if you wish to go directly to the heart of Lascarde. Say yes. You’ll see a cut scene. Now leave. Head to your light ship to get out. World Map: Head for the new giant red continent. You can’t land on the flashy dot. There’s a landing spot somewhere a little SW of the dot on your map. Keep pressing A until it lets you land. This is the only part of the map that doesn’t allow you control the camera, so it can be a little hard to navigate your way to our final destination. Verct Skywalk [VERSKY]: As I’m sure you’ll recall, back when Rastin first told us about the Divine Race, Cecille told us about the two skywalks. At one time, both were in the sky, and one was dedicated to Imaginal, the Lascarde Skywalk, the other Real, the Verct Skywalk. The Verct Skywalk mysteriously fell from the sky at some point. Most of it landed in Olquina, and most likely led to the establishment of Olquinism. The rest was assumed destroyed. Well it seems the Verct Skywalk survived the fall, and is back with vengeance. BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS DUNGEON: I'm going to give you a little heads up here. There's not one boss here. There's three. And each one is just as challenging as the last. You need to level up a lot to keep up. Be sure you bring along a full stock of items. If you feel you're running low, it's perfectly fine to leave the dungeon, go stock up, and come back. Bosses don't respawn, but normal monsters do. When ready, head all the way to the right, and then follow the path up, to get a longsword for Rastin. Now go back, and up, then right to the next screen. Keep going right to get a chest. Go back to the save point. Now head up, and take the left path. Follow it until you see a cut scene. I recommend being around Level 53 to survive. ------------------------ BOSS: Dynos [DYS] Attacks: Summon: Minion- summons an Erebus to the field. Erebuses are so powerful, they’re like bosses themselves. Three Cries- damage to a single target. Doubly Dark- light and dark damage to a single target. Has a chance to poison, confuse or paralyze. Death in the Dark- dark damage to a single target. Your chars will get antsy when he's about to use this attack. He only seems to use it when in very low HP. Magic: Dark, Earth, Fire. He has stat raising magic, as do the Erebuses. Just like Ignancy, he does know Chaos Void. Your chars will get antsy when he's about to use it. Weak: Wind Strategy: He uses Sick and lower resistance with his Arm Forces. You need to find a way to deal with the Erebuses, the problem though, is that he keeps summoning them, they’re extremely powerful and like to gang up on people. :/ Beating him takes a lot of endurance, but it can be done! Use Wind-based attack chains a lot, and use area attacks to try and take care of the Erebuses as they come. If you have Papirusagu, use him to take advantage of the Wind weakness. Be careful, as he gets lower in health, he becomes more and more relentless with his attacks, but on the flipside, he summons less, when in low health, and below like 30000, he completely stops summoning all together. He won't use any Ultimate Excel Acts until he's under about 30000 HP. The more Trinity Acts you pull off, the better. Also be on the lookout for the stat raising magic. He uses defensive magic like Magic Shell, and Eearthen Protection, that stops all attack for a round. He also can use Pain Reflect that gives him Reflect Damage. So constantly be on your guard. You will need to heal often and defend a lot to survive. Be sure to equip any +HP Arm Forces you have. END BOSS ------------- Go back to the save point and save, so you don't have to fight that bastard again. Then go back to where you fought him. Continue on the path to the right until you see another cut scene. Follow the path upwards all the way up, and then go left for a chest. Go back down then go left for a cut scene. Be sure you're around level 55. -------------------------- BOSS: Clyde [CLDE2] Attacks: Same as last few times you fought him. And a word of caution, he still uses Volthron, but apparently it's no longer an ultimate attack, and your chars WON'T get antsy when he's about to use it. Brave Rush- Massive damage to a single target. Your characters WILL get antsy when he's going to use it. He tends to only use it when in low HP. Magic: Water, Wind, and Lightening. He also now uses the level 4 lightening magic attack called Judgment. It can hit multiple targets. He only uses it when in low HP. Weak: None. Strategy: Seems he's left his goons out of this fight. You fought him once already. Just do what you did before. He has a little more HP this time. Also, he has a shield this time, but it takes a very long while to come back. My Excel Act chains destroyed his shield every time, allowing my Trinity to do max damage, so I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary to keep checking if it’s up. *shrug* END BOSS ------------ Follow the path upwards. Then go right for the map. See the giant metallic door thing? Go in there. There’s a save point in there. Follow the path to the left until you reach a Lift, Press A to go down. continue on the path to the left until you see a cut scene. Time to beat some sense into Alf. Again. You'd think he'd learn after the 1st time. ------------------ BOSS: Alf [AF] Attacks: Same attacks that he's had the last few times, plus some new ones. Holy Blade- light-based attack. Single target. Vision of Real- Massive damage to an area. Has a high chance of causing Paralysis, confusion, and silence. It's one of three attacks that your chars get antsy about. Real Revelation- Area. Another attack your chars get antsy about. Magic: Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, Ice. Also knows the level 4 magic attacks Chaos Bind and Freezing cage (a sync’d Frostlock). Your chars will get antsy when he's about to use Freezing Cage. Freezing Cage can lower your stats. Weak: None Strategy: Honestly, the only reason I survived this fight was because I left the dungeon to restock my items beforehand. In my opinion, this ranks as probably the one toughest required boss fights of the game, second only to Dynos. The Final Boss(es) aren't as hard this fight. But anyways. You must destroy the raystones at every given opportunity. At this point in game, if you weren't already aware, you can pull of a special Trinity Act called an Excel Trinity Act, by chaining your chars most powerful Excel Acts together. The three Acts in the chain must use 60% or more SP, per char. Each individual has his/her own special Excel Trinity. The ETA you do depends on whomever leads the charge. For me, Leslie was my fastest char, so I was always doing her Crimson Shooter. If done right, ETAs can do 35,000+ damage in one go. So for all remaining bosses, do em often. It is extremely important that you continually heal and defend. Alf, and all remaining bosses, love to abuse their level 4 magics, so be careful! Eventually, you'll beat him. END BOSS ------------ After finally beating some sense into Alf, we see a cut scene, and the next dungeon appears. You now have the nine Rogress you’ve been hunting for the entire game. Go ahead and take some time to play with them before we go to the final dungeon. ;) When ready, leave Vect, and head for Carbunculus. World Map: Head for Carbunculus. Carbunculus: Head to the Senate. Once there, go the senate lab. It’s the only room you can go into on the ground floor. View the cutscene, then skip town. World Map: Head on over to Diamont. Diamont: Go to the Martial Arts school guest house for a cut scene. Your party scatters itself all over the city. Before you go looking, I recommend making a stop by Castle Diamont. Once there, Go to the Guard room, there's a weapon here for Rastin on the left side of the room, stuck in the ground. You probably got it when you were trying to escape the castle dungeon, so don't worry. Now head for the Throne Room. One of L’Arc’s most powerful weapons can be found sticking out of the center throne. It's The Holy Noire. Ok. Now go out and find your team. Talk to each person for a quick cut scene. Talk to Ryfia to end this part. Team Member Locations: Cecile: In front of the Martial Arts School. Rastin: Upper Zone, by the lift to Fountain Square. Serge: Grand Bridge. Leslie: Port, by the ships. Ryfia: Port, go up the steps on the far left, and then go up the next steps to the right. When you talk to her, you'll see a cut scene. Then it's time to go. World Map: To the Holy Land of Noire! It's SW of your current location, just slightly North of the Verct Skywalk. It's floating in the air, so you need to take the Lightship to get there. Duh. Before you go, make sure to fully stock up on healing items. The Holy Land of Noire [HOLNOI]: This is the last dungeon. You ready? Start by following the path to the right until you see a cut scene. Then it's time to fight. ------------------------------------ BOSS: Luze, Round 1 [LUZ1] Attacks: Rogress Release- she'll unleash some Rogress we never saw on our journey. I assume they're the remaining Noire 12. Fun stuff. Magic: Earth, Wind and Fire... and water. Strategy: So. First boss we meet here... and we can't win. D'oh! So yeah, lose on purpose. It's impossible to win. Like, literally. END BOSS ------------- After suffering a small defeat, a cut scene happens. Then the real fun begins. Something to note about this dungeon, is that you can't use Rogress the whole time. The monsters are pretty hard, to boot. In fact, until you gain some party members, I'd recommend you avoid monster battles. Anyways. Follow the path upwards, go left, then go down for a cut scene. Defeat the monsters. Ryfia joins us for the next fight. Beat them and move on. Now go down to the right and upwards for the teleport spot, you'll see a small cut scene before you go. Next area. Go right along the path and up. until you see a cut scene. Teleport out. Next area. Go up, and all the way left for a chest. Go back to the three-way intersection, this time take the down, left path. Follow the path to the teleport. Next area. Go right, all the way up for a cut scene. Cecille joins us. Now keep on the path and go head down the stairs, right along the path to the teleport. Next area. Up the stairs, right along the path, go all the way right and down for a chest. Go back, then go up for a cut scene. Go Left at the intersection for a chest. Go right at that same intersection for the teleport. Next area. Follow the path. Go up, left all the way down, for a chest. You'll see Rastin in the center of the room. Make your way over there for a cut scene. Rastin joins us first as a Guest for the battle, win the battle and he's back being PC. :> Go upwards for the teleport thingy. Next Area. You start things off with a cut scene. Leslie Joins us. Go across the green bridge and then make a slight left for another cut scene. Squill has only made half a bridge. Squill, you disappoint me. Anyways. Continue along the path upwards and to the left. then downwards for another brown ball. View the cut scene. The bridge is now complete. Go back to where the new bridge is and cross it. Go down and to the right. There's a weapon in the ground to your right. Approach the brown ball for another cut scene. The next bridge appears. Make your way over to that bridge and cross over it to find the teleport. Next area. Start by going right, then up and to the left. Go down, then right, and up for the teleport. Next Area. You'll see a green save point. Approach the save point for a cut scene. You're now allowed to summon Rogress again. The map's over by a teleport to your lower left, btw. The teleport to our final battle straight ahead. Upon reaching the final area we see a cut scene. Damn, Sonia wasn't kidding when she said Eesa had an ego. Well after the cut scene, it's time to begin the battle. I was Level 56 when I got to this point. ----------------------------------- BOSS: Luze, Round 2 [LUZ2] Attacks: Oracle of Aether- one of her ultimate attacks. Deals massive light damage to an area. Your chars will get antsy when she's about to use it. Blue Wave- a more powerful version of Hosea's White Wave. Light based damage to a small area. Can lower stats and cause Silence. Magic: All elements. She uses protections a lot, so be careful. She also knows Chaos Bind, and Judgment. Your chars will get antsy about Judgment. She can do a Sync with Judgment to upgrade it to Thor Hammer, so be careful! Weak: None Strategy: I was quite surprised when I beat her on my first try. Wasn't easy, but I did it. Excel Trinity Acts are your best friend. So are massive amounts of liquids and revives. She abuses her Level 4 magic a lot. And, she knows a lot of area attacks and magic, so be sure to keep everyone spread out. Always destroy the raystones, to prevent her from getting more syncs. When she gets super low on health, her Frantic Defense Arm Force will activate, which will reduce your ETA's power by less than half, so be careful. You're allowed to use Rogress in this fight, and I was able to actually use 2, because it went on for so long. XD Anyways, after you win, the real battle beings. END BOSS ------------- Quick tip for the next battle, courtesy of Mrleelongi: In the following battle, you will only have w/e HP you ended the Luze fight with. So if you were near death, you start the next battle near death. But don’t worry, there’s a way to beat the system. It’s really rather obvious: you make sure you level up at the end of the Luze fight, which fully heals your HP, but not your MP (You should probably just conserve your MP for that reason). To guarantee your chars will level up at the end of the Luze battle, beat her once and take note of how much XP she gives, and its distribution. Lose the next fight. Now go back through the dungeon and fight monsters until you have just enough XP so that when you beat Luze, you’ll level up. You’ll start off the next fight with full HP. Hopefully, that’ll make this next one a little more manageable, though personally I don’t seriously think it’s necessary. I beat the next fight my first try without doing that. *shrugs* ---------------------------------------------------------------- After a quick cut scene, Alf finally joins us. God, that took him long enough! ----------------------- BOSS: Eesa [EEA] Attacks: Eesa's Guidance- massive damage to an area. Your chars will get antsy when she's about to use this. Scepter of Order- Damage to an area. Has a high chance of causing paralyze, and downed stats. Ruining Bond- Dark damage to a single target. Has a 100% chance of causing Sick, Poison, Confuse, or sleep, or any combination of three of those. Judgment Ray- Light damage to an area. Can cause Immobilize and silence. Your chars will get antsy when she's about to use it. Magic: Wind, Fire, Lightening, Earth, Water, Darkness. Weak: None. Strategy: Once again, amazingly, I beat her on my first try. I was honestly expecting a battle that was a little more challenging, given this game's run of tough-ass bosses. But anyways. The thing to really watch out for is Ruining Bond, that can screw you over in a flash. You need to continually heal your characters to keep up here. Alf has his uses, but due to his low relatively low HP, he doesn’t' end up sticking around for long. :/ I still recommend reviving him every so often. He can do a bit of damage while you're sitting around defending, healing and recharging SP. When you're ready to pull off an ETA, look at the order of turns in the lower right corner. If it indicates that Alf will be using an Excel Act (indicated by a glowing orange flame on his portrait) don't use the ETA that turn. If you do, it won't work, because two of your chars will chain with Alf's EA, thus screwing up your ETA. YOU CANNOT USE ALF TO DO AN ETA. I tried it, during this battle. Didn't work out so well. :( Now unlike our last boss, Eesa has elemental resistances to ALL elements. So your magic is pretty much useless. The key to beating Eesa, is to just continually pull off Excel Trinity Acts. While you're waiting for SP to recharge, defend and heal. The only saving grace of this battle is that is only Boss fight, other than the 1st 3 or four, that doesn't have Raystones. Another tip from Mrleelongi: To ensure you survive the Ruining Bond, trying using Above and Beyond every so often. END BOSS ------------ Well that was fun. We see a series of cut scenes, then the credits roll. During the credits, every single major cut scene of the game is displayed for you viewing pleasure. At the end, you see rather touching one with all the chars ‘cept Ryfia. The you see one last CG movie. We started with CG, and so we end with CG. :> You will then be asked to save your game. Doing so will put you right at the beginning of the Holy Land of Noire. You can now go out into the world and complete all those Guild Quests you've been ignoring, unlock all your Arm Forces... the sky's the limit. Congrats! You just beat Arc Rise Fantasia! Now that that’s over there’s several things for you to do. You can also go back to the Holy Land of Noire and defeat Eesa again…and again… and well as many times as you want. It’s great for a little WP grinding. ------------------------------------------------------------- The Quest for the Optional Rogress [OPROGQ] In addition to the nine required Rogress, there are three more that you can bond with. You can go after them right after you beat the Verct Skywalk. Start by heading for Mashgar. World Map: Go to Olquina. In the center of Olquina is a mountain with a lake at the top. Go to the top of this mountain, while inside the lightship. You’ll see a cutscene or two. Mashgar is now shown on the world map as a moving blue dot. You will need the all the lightship upgrades to catch him. Catch up to him and approach him from behind. If you go from the side of front, he’ll see you and bolt in the opposite direction. If you do things right, you can approach him from behind and nudge him with the lightship. If you did it right, the ship will stop automatically. You’ll view a cutscene, then fight. ------------------------------- BOSS: Mashgar [MSGR] Attacks: Solitude Wave- raises stats Call Lightening- Lightening damage to the field. Can cause paralyze. Logos of Solitude- Lightening damage to the whole field. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it Lightening- Not to be confused with the magic attack of the same name, this is one of his special attacks. Needless to say, it deals lightening damage to a small area. He can Sync it up a level to Thunder, for more damage. When he’s about to do that, your chars will get antsy. Magic: Water, Wind, Lightening Weak: None Strategy: This battle’s reasonably challenging. It’s a slight step above Eesa and not nearly as cheap as Kudoan. I highly reccamend you fight Mashgar before Kudoan. Mashgar can basically be treated like all other end game bosses. You defend and heal often, use your Rogress when you have the chance, and use ETAs the rest of the time. Be sure to kill the raystones, and you’ll do just fine. END BOSS ------------ You’ll see a cutscene, then bond with him. Onwards to the next one! World Map: After bonding with Mashgar, head over the Waxing Crescent Inn. It’s NW of the Resolvent Iceberg. Waxing Crescent Inn: You’ll see a cutscene. Then you get to fight. ---- A word about Kudoan: It has been brought to my attention that there is a really ridiculous rumor going around that in order to take on Kudoan, you have to first do a certain quest. I don’t know the f**ktard who started it, but it’s complete and utter bull s**t. YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETE ANY QUESTS TO TAKE ON KUDOAN. If you seriously believe that BS, well, you’re an idiot. Shut up and quit spreading BS rumors. Kthx. --------------------------- BOSS: Kudoan [KDN] Attacks: Mad Rush- single target. Sky Charge- damage to an area Eternal Ring- Single Target. His ultimate. Your chars will get antsy about it. Logos of Wit- Gives it the No Magical status, thus negating all magical attacks. However, this can work against it, because if it tries to use any Healers or stat-raisers with No Magical, they’re nullified. :> Funnily enough, your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use this… even though it does no damage. Magic: Wind, Light, Dark, Lightening, Ice. It knows Regenerate and it uses it often. It’s pretty much the cheapest boss in the game, since Regenerate allows it to heal ALL its health, over the course of 3 turns. On top of that, it can Sync it, to upgrade it to Holy Blessing, giving it EVEN MORE HEALTH BACK. :/ He also knows the level 4 magic attacks Chaos Bind and Freezing Cage (Sync’d Frostlock), but yours chars won’t warn you about them. Weak: None Strategy: As mentioned above, this is by far one of the cheapest bosses in the game, thanks to Regenerate. You better pray he uses the Logos of Wit often, or you’re in for a never-ending battle. The reason I won, was pure luck. He was down at 30000HP and used the Logos of Wit. Used an ETA and beat him that way. But I was EXTREMELY lucky. Rogress and ETAs are the only things that will make a dent in his HP. Do not use them while he has the Regen Status, or your efforts will be for nothing. :/ At the start of the battle he uses Regenerate. Spread everyone out, and just continually defend until it goes away, THEN launch your first attack. Try not to move anyone. ETAs are your best friend, but the problem, of course, is that SP takes a while to recharge. While you’re recharging, he has the perfect opportunity to use Regenerate and completely f**k you over. So to help counteract that, I had the char nearest to him perform Magic Chains and Attack Chains on him to help regen some SP. I had other chars do the same thing on Raystones near them. The only raystones I saw in this battle were either Water or Fire, and he doesn’t use Water and Fire magic, so destroying raystones isn’t too much of a priority. I also used my Specialties that I had on hand to regen some SP in a pinch. Consider it a very huge accomplishment if you do manage to win. However, his Sync is one of the worst in the game, in my opinion. >.> But you are required to bond with him, if you wish to take on Allule. EDIT: A small tip, curtiousy of abr811: It seems that if you use a Sync’d Dispel Magic on Kudoan, once or twice, he won’t use Regenerate ever again. That should make the battle much less cheap and more manageable. END BOSS ------------ You’ll see a cutscene and bond with Kudoan. Save the game, then get out. World Map: Head on over the Resolvent Iceberg. Resolvent Iceberg, take 2 [RI2]: In the area just past the ice puzzle, there is a ladder that was previously inaccessible. Go there and you’ll see a short cutscene, that’s how you’ll know you’re in the right place. Go up the new ladder to reach a new part of the dungeon. The monsters here are very tough, so come prepared. Follow the path up and to the right, and then up again to find a second ice puzzle. Here’s the solution: Right, up, up, left. Chest. Now go Right, down, right, down. Another chest. Now go up right, right, up, left, up, left, down, right, down, left, down, left. Another chest. Now go right, up, right for the last chest. Now go left, down, right, for a quick monster battle. Then go up, left, up, left, down, right, down, left, up, right, up. Save point. Head upwards until you meat Allul. View the cutscene and fight. ------------------------ BOSS: Allul [ALUL] Attacks: Frost Cross- Ice damage to a single target. Can cause Silence. Foresight Wave- ups Attack stats. Ice Lance- Ice damage to an area. Can cause Immobilize. Lapis of Foresight- During the battle itself, this attack is used, but you don’t see its name, and it counts an ultimate Excel Act. After you win and bond with her, she will use this attack when summoned, and she calls it Lapis of Foresight. It does Ice damage to the whole field. Your chars will get antsy when she’s about to use it. Magic: Earth, Water, Ice. She can use Earthen Protection, Fortress, and Full Cure. So be prepared. She also knows the level 4 Ice magic attack Frost Lock, which damages an area. Your chars will get antsy about it. Weak: None. Strategy: This is one tough battle. She knows Full Cure, which can fully heal her, but oddly enough, only used it during the first three turns for me, then never used it again. Use a Rogress in the beginning, then use ETAs the rest of the time. She is relentless with her attacks throughout the battle, so you will need to defend and heal for most of it. She has the Block Defense Arm Force, so be sure you have the Anti-Force Arm Force equipped. Come prepared for a very long, hard battle. In the end, it’s defiantly worth the trouble. END BOSS ------------- You’ll view a cutscene and bond with her. Now that we all have all 12 Rogress, a new dungeon is available for us to go and work at. World Map: Head on over the New Moon Inn. It’s on an island on the west coast of Meridia, just slightly SW of Topazion. New Moon Inn: Before you go here, be sure you’re fully stocked up on items. Use the save point, and use the beds inside to heal up if needed. Now approach the glowy circle thing on the left side. You’ll see a cutscene. Then step on it and go on through to… Allwise Infinite Maze [ALIFMZ]: ---- A quick word about this maze: This maze is available only after beating Eesa. YOU DO NOT NEED ALL 12 ROGRESS TO ATTEMPT IT. You simply beat Eesa, save the game, and it’s unlocked. That’s all. ---- The teleport leads to a little maze. After a quick cutscene, we’re given another small mission. At the end of this maze is a Boss. The boss is hard. And getting there? A challenge I highly recommend you embark on, if you thought Eesa was a pushover. Throughout the dungeon we’ll be meeting fallen comerades and foes alike. The monsters in this place are all start at level 60, and go up as you progress through the dungeon, and all are reasonable opponents. Here’s the deal: The dungeon’s split up into five sections. Each section has 5 floors. On the 5th floor, you fight a boss. The first 4 bosses are updated versions of bosses you already fought once, and the last boss in a lovely little dragon, who’s a little PO’d at the Noire 12. After you beat a section’s boss, a teleport back to New Moon Inn appears. Always use this teleport, since that’s the only save point you get. I know the place is called “Allwise Infinite MAZE”, but honestly, it’s not much of maze. The camera actually gives you a very good view of the place, so it’s pretty hard to get lost. Head for any dead ends, since they usually have chests. The chests in this place have only All Chargers, Exilers, Full Liquids, Full Revives, and Leafs. They also have rare armours and weapons, making them always worth the trouble of seeking out. The teleport is a little purple glowing spot, and that’s always your goal. There is no backtracking in this dungeon, until you reach the section’s boss and beat it. Once back in the New Moon Inn, you can save, heal, and restock your items. When you’re ready to go back, examine the teleport. You’ll be allowed to go back to the 5th floor of any section you’ve beaten. -------------------- BOSS: Baal [BL] Attacks: Time of Beginning- Switches from Physical to Magic resistance. Flower turns yellow. Time of Ending- Switches from Magic to Physical Resistance. Flower turns blue. Seeds of Abundance- Damage to a single target. Can cause Silence and Immobilize. Can lower Earth and Water resistances. Only used when flower is blue. Seeds of Famine- Damage to a single target. Can cause Sleep. Can lower Earth and Water resistances. Only used when flower is yellow. Sustenance- heals a large amount of HP. Seems to only use it at the beginning. Whip of Nature- Single target attack. Tenth Night Festival- Damage to a small area. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: Earth, Water, Ice Weak: Fire Strategy: I highly recommend you bring Leslie along for the ride, so you can take advantage of her Excel Trinity, Crimson Shoot. Now when we fought Vifrons, when he changed flowers, he switched attacks, using either only Physical attacks or only Magic attacks. This time, that doesn’t happen. Changing flower colors only switches his resistances around, but he will use both kinds of attacks no matter what. Use your Rogress when the flower is Blue, as Rogress count as magic. Use your ETAs when the flower is yellow, to maximize the amount of damage they do. The one attack you need to keep an eye out for is Sustenance, which can heal a very large amount of HP at once, as in over 70000HP. I’m not sure if I just got lucky, but he only used it once the whole battle, right after I used my Rogress. Dynos is a farily decent Guest, though he’s not the most intelligent one, and doesn’t seem to pay attention the flower color changes. :/ He has relatively low HP, and thus will probably get KO’d often. Bring him back when you can, so he can do a little damage while you’re recharging SP. Just like with Alf during the Eesa battle, pay attention to when he’s about to use Excel Acts, and don’t use your ETAs on the turns when he’s about to use and Excel Act, to prevent yourself from accidently syncing with him. END BOSS ------------ Your prize for winning is a cutscene and teleport to New Moon Inn and another teleport to the next area. Get your chests and move on. -------------------------------- BOSS: Leviathan [LVTN] Attacks: Tidal Pillar- Water damage to the whole field. He opens with it, and doesn’t seem to use it ever again. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Acid Parts- water damage to a single target. 100% chance of lowering all stats. Magic: Water Weak: Fire Strategy: So here we have a wonderful fight with an upgraded Afank, in his second form. Just like with the last fight, this upgrade has granted him heightened stats. Despite that, he’s actually really easy. Put Leslie in your party and just continually abuse her Excel Trinity, Crimson Shoot. It can do as much 40000 damage in one go. Usually more. He’ll put up one hell of fight though, so defend a lot and try to keep your HP up. Once again, Dynos will just keep dying, since he has so little HP, and DOESN’T EVER F*****G DEFEND. |:< You can revive him if you want, but letting him stay down is just as good. Not like he’ll stay around for long. END BOSS ------------ After a touching cutscene, Dynos leaves. Bah, he’ll always be a jackasschanter in my book. Moving on. Get your chests and get on with the next section. --------------------------------------- BOSS: Jarmungandr [JMGR] Attacks: Arsagius- Earth damage to the whole field. He tends to use this just about every round. Berserk- Raises your attack stats, and lowers defense stats. Does the same to himself. Bitfrest- Light damage to a small area. Can cause Sick Ragnorak- Damage to a single target. Can cause Paralyze. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: Regenerate, he always will sync it up to Holy Blessing, so watch out. Weak: Ice (Water + Earth) Strategy: So this is the upgraded Fafnir. It’s the only updated boss that changes weaknesses on us, that little bastard. You should keep Adele around, in hopes that she’s smart enough to use her Freezing Ray. Her magic is also a pretty big asset for this fight. You can try bringing Serge in, to take advantage of his Excel Trinity, Million Regret, which is Ice-based, but Serge doesn’t have too much in the way of HP, *shrugs*. I used Allul during this fight, as her Lapis does a lot of damage, and takes advantage of the Ice weakness. He only uses Holy Blessing (a synced Regenerate) when in very low HP. When he does that, you need to continually attack him, to ensure he doesn’t get back all his HP. He should only use it once, maybe twice, and that’ll be it. So basically, just defend and heal, and abuse your Excel Trinties. Be sure to avoid using L’Arc, Leslie, or Ryfia’s ETAs, as they will do significantly less damage than anyone elses, for this fight. END BOSS ------------ After another touching cutscene, Adele leaves. Onwards, to the next fight! Get your chests and continue with the dungeon. ------------------------------- BOSS: Abaddon [ABDN] Attacks: All Sins- damage to the whole field. He always syncs it up a level. It is extremely devastating, and will KO you, even if you’re defending. So always be on your guard. Can cause Level Down. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use this. Wings of Pride- Damage to a large area. Can cause Level Down. Hand of Greed- damage to an area. Can cause stun. Sigh of Envy- Damage to an area. Magic: Fire, Earth, Dark. Knows all level 4 attacks for those elements. Consider yourself warned. Weak: Lightening (Wind + Water) Strategy: When I first picked up this game and played through it, I met the first boss and lost. I challenged him again. I lost. I lost maybe about five more times before finally beating his scrawny ass. In my mind, he was a total jackass, and nothing could be a- holness. Then I beat the game and met Abaddon. I forgive Deathchanter for being a jerk. My bone to pick is now with Abaddon. I still can’t believe I beat him my first try, he was f’n hard. And annoying. And hard. Did I mention he’s annoying? Anyways. This our Chimera Update. In the Chimera battle, we were allowed to target one for three body parts, and upon killing one body part, it put one of his attacks out of commission, and made the battle a little easier, though all three parts shared the same overall health bar. When the HP got down to 0, he would throw a hissy fit and unleash his ultimate attack up on us, if we survived, we won, if not, we had to do it all over again. Well things are different now. You no longer have three parts to target, just the one. He will not use his cheap-ass ultimate attack on you when you defeat him, so you can relax. Cecille’s Excel Trinity, Exceed Lightening will take advantage of his Lightening weakness, but I’ve found that L’Arc’s Disaster Fang will do a little more damage, usually. Either one will do just fine. Another change is that when he’s about to use two Special Attacks, your chars will get antsy. So in other words, just because your chars have bad feelings, doesn’t mean he’s going to use his ultimate attack, All Sins. It just means he’s getting ready to rape you. The last time Niko joined us as a guest for a boss fight was for good ole Deathchanter, and back then, he was rather smart about it, taking care of all the skeletons for us. This time? I think running into Lascarde turret must have killed some brain cells. He’ll use his Niko Cannon on the boss, even though the boss has a huge Fire resistance. IDIOT. He wastes all his magic within a few turns and never chains. IDIOT. Like all Guests, HE NEVER DEFENDs, BECAUSE HE’S AN IDIOT. So why bother keeping the moron around? While you’re recharging SP, he will still do a significant amount of damage. He also loves to heal you, which can help you conserve heal items, however, it can sometimes be hard to tell when he’s going to heal you, or just going to waste magic on the boss. But he’s still Niko, and says silly things when he attacks. :3 That was pretty much the only reason I kept him alive. The boss will be very unforgiving when you start getting down to the wire and he has a few thousand HP left. You will get few breaks to heal and let loose an ETA, so defending becomes extremely important. He also has the Arm Force Block Physical, which can render your ETAs completely useless, if it ever activates. Equipping Anti-Force can help to prevent that. END BOSS ------------ Fight’s over. Cutscene. Niko leaves. :( I still hate this boss. Freakn’ jerk. Get your chests and move on the last section of this dungeon. ------------------------------ BOSS: Allwise [ALWSE] Attacks: Howls- He has a “Howl” attack for every Logos. They all raise his elemental resistances and grant him the Stop All status, in addition to other effects such as Blitz, No Magical, ect. These additional effects will only last for the round he uses the Howl, so don’t worry. Burst Shot- Single Target. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Be careful though, since he always uses other attacks during the rounds he uses Burst Shot. Triple Shot- Damage to an area. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. He usually uses it in conjunction with Burst Shot. Wing Cutter- Damage to an area. Magic- Light, Wind, Fire, Lightening Weak: None Strategy: This is one mother of a boss. You know you’re in for a tough fight when your chars get bad feelings just about every round. I s**t you not. You need Anti-Force to beat him. He has Block Physical and Physical Reflect. The first time I fought him, I got him down to within 3000 HP. Then I realized that Physical Reflect had activated that turn, and I had done an ETA, so I was wide open… and well, he kicked my ass. So yeah, be prepared for something like that. I was able to win the second time, though. Anyways, your basic strategy should be to just let your ETAs off when you can, and defend the rest of the time. Use a Rogress when you can. I was able to let off two Rogress during this battle, both times it was Allul. END BOSS ------------ After you beat the Allwise, you see a small cutscene and then… the teleport to New Moon appears in front of you… that’s it. Yup. You did all that for pretty much nothing. Congrats. But look on the bright side, you got a lot of awesome armors and weapons and such in the process. I mean come on, the Brithigamen pretty much makes it worth all the trouble. All that’s left is to defeat all the optional bosses. Have fun with that. ;) ---------------------- EXTRAS SECTION. In this section I’ll cover how to get all the Rogress, strategys for beating the optional bosses (well at least the ones I’ve beaten), and maybe some other things. I’ll update this section as I see fit. ---------------------------------------- Rogress Gathering [ROGGATH] : As you go through the game, you meet the various Rogress. This is the only Rogress in the entire game that doesn’t call her attack a Logos. ---------------------------------- Optional Bosses [OPBOSS]: Optional bosses can be found throughout the game in most dungeons. Unlike regular bosses, you can flee Optional Boss battles, and you receive 0 XP fore beating them. You do, however, get a one-of-kind item, plus lots of Rico and WP. Optional bosses are great for WP grinding. ------ Raci Location: Last area of Gauss Tunnel, the area after the area where you fight Fafnir. He’s tucked away in a little corner on the right side. Attacks: Nuts Arrow- Area attack. Can cause confusion. The Roaming- Dark damage to a single target. Can lower defense stats. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: Water, Earth Weak: Fire Strategy: Keep everyone spread out and defending for this fight. Use your Trinities when you have the chance. Be sure to shoot out any raystones at all times. Compared to most optional bosses, he’s pretty easy. ------ Sun Flora Location: Entrance of Galois Ravine Attacks: Drowsiness Pollen- single target. Can cause Sleep. Sunny Cannon- massive damage to single target. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: None. Weak: Fire Strategy: This boss is super easy. Just unleash your Trinity Acts, attack it, and never let up. When it gets low in HP, it’ll use the Sunny Cannon. Just defend, and attack when you get the chance. It should go down pretty easy. ------ Tartalos Location: Dragon Prison basement, after you defeat Gula and return for the lightship. You must have beaten the Golem enemy that was there before for it to respawn as Tartalos. Attacks: Gaia Crush- Earth damage to an area. Can cause Petrify Bolt Stream- lightening damage to the whole filed. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: Lightening Weak: None Strategy: This will probably be the first boss you fight with a shield. Spread everyone out from the start and constantly defend. On the turn before you want to do a major attack, have someone do a three-attack chain to defeat the shield. Then pull off the Trinity. ------ Mike Location: Ratea Forest, in the Deep Forest area. You have to have beaten Gula, and returned to Meridia for the lightship for him to appear. Attacks: Heavy Press- damage to a small area. Can cause Stun. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Woodpecker- single target. Magic: Fire, Earth Weak: Earth Strategy: This boss is deceivingly simple. Use your ETAs to bring it down to below half health. Then it will most likely use Above and Beyond to raise its max HP and fully heal up. Then the real fight begins. Just continue to defend, heal and abuse ETAs. ------ King of Kings Location: Ruins of Hibert, first area. He’s a jumping frog in the back. You can only fight him the first time you visit this place. Attacks: Noisy Recital- Damage to the whole field. Can cause Sick and Poison. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use this. Magic: Earth, Fire, Wind Weak: None Strategy: He’s pretty challenging, and the worst part is, he’s probably one of the few, if any, optional bosses that’s only available for a short time. The strategy’s pretty simple: Defend, heal, and unleash TAs as you please. You can use a Rogress if you want. ------ Nabrius Location: Ellgode Volcano, in the room before the Hall of Bonding, go to the lower floor, it’s at the end of the path. Attacks: Flame Crush- fire damage to a single target. Howl of Purgatory- Raises Attack stats Purgatory Fire- Fire damage to a single target. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: none. Weak: Water Strategy: I fought this boss when I was like level 58, so it went down super easy. XD Just use Trinity Acts, defend a lot, and it’ll go down. ------ Berry Slime Location: Zeifelt Holy Tower, in the front hallway, a pot by the door to the Elevator room. Attacks: None Magic: Fire, Wind, Light Weak: None Strategy: Just go all out on it. Be sure to take care of the raystones, to hinder its magics. Unleash your Trinities, defend a lot, and you’ll do fine. ------ Separ Location: Permafrost Wall, in the Resolvent Iceberg, where the crystal that controlled the Ray Shield was. Only appears after beating the 2nd Rogress dungeon after getting the lightship. Attacks: Chain Tail- area attack Spiked Tail- area attack Magic: None Weak: None Strategy: This is basically a slightly tougher Aliscer. Just use the same exact strategy that you used on that. ------ Dendro Mimic Location: Ebur Ruins Hall of Bonding. Take the path that Rastin took through the dungeon to the second area. There are stairs that lead to a dead end, take them to find a yellow chest. That’s the boss. It only appears after you beat Verct. Attacks: Dendro Breath- Damage to a small area. Your sometimes get antsy when he’s about to use it, but not always. Magic: Lightening, Wind, Water Weak: None Strategy: Defend, heal and abuse ETAs. A Rogress may also be of use. ----- Cocinella Location: Verct Skywalk second area, where you saw the Ladybird standing there. Only appears if you defeat enemies in in the first area the following order from the entrance: The two sabers, avoid the plant, kill the dragon, go left, defeat the two sabers, go right, fight the gun bot, keep going right, kill the dragon. Avoid all enemies in the next area. If you did things right, the Ladybird will turn into a yellow-spot and black version of the Ladybird. That’s the boss. It will only appear after you beat Verct. Attacks: Three Steps- single target attacks. Poison From the Land- Damage to a small area. Can cause Poison (duh). Your chars will get antsy when it’s about to use it. Magic: Dark and Light Weak: None Strategy: Start things off with a Rogress, that’ll deal a hefty blow and kill the Ladybirds that are hanging around. It will do a Round of Physical attacks, then a round of Magic, then a round of Physical, and so on and so forth. Use ETAs and continually attack it the rest of the time. Defend and heal often. ------ Remora Location: Oceansong Road, where you fought Afank. Only appears during the “Undersea Assault” Guild Quest. Attacks: Geo Crush- Earth damage to a large area. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. He usually opens with it. Magic: Water Weak: Light (Wind + Fire) Strategy: I used an ETA to kill him in one shot… but I’m sure regular TAs will do just fine. ------ Death Scythe Location: Nabra Jungle Honeypot Path, only appears during the “Revenge of the Bugs” Guild Quest. Attacks: Maddening Wings- Damage to the whole field. Raises your party’s attack stats. Can cause confusion. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Cross Cutter- wind damage to an area. Magic: None. Weak: Earth Strategy: This guy’s a pushover. I killed him with just one ETA plus a few extra attacks thrown in. I don’t know why your chars get bad feelings about Maddening Wings when it actually HELPS them. Tis quite strange… ------ Carbuncule Location: Mandelro Coast, first area. Only appears during the “Vicious Little Devil” Guild Quest. Attacks: Tail Charge- raises his Magic and Resistance stats. Tail Shot- single target attack. Magic: Lightening Weak: Fire and Water. You are not reading this wrong. He really is weak to both Fire and Water. And yes, that means he’s resistant to Earth and Wind, which, by default, means he’s resistant to the four compound elements as well. Strategy: He’s super easy. Just use TAs or ETAs. ------ Thanatos Location: Ruins of Hibert, in a ruined building in the Main Street area, on the right side. Only appears during the “Nightmare in the Ruins” Guild Quest. Attacks: Corpse Burst- Dark damage to a single target. Can cause Stun. Death Cutter- Damage to an area. Can cause Stun. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Magic: Earth, Fire Weak: Light (Wind + Fire) Strategy: Since he’s basically just an upgraded Skeleton monster, you can use any strategies you use against them, and he’ll go down pretty easy. Be sure to defend often, since he does pack quite a punch. I used ETAs to bring him down. ----- Amaltea Location: Soliton Caves. Follow the path the second area. Take the lower path to the right, and continue along it until the next screen. He’s at the very end of it. Only appears during the “It’s So…Big!” Guild Quest. I’m sure the innuendo was definitely intended. Attacks: Bull Charge- Raises attack and defense stats. Bull Dash- Single target attack. Spark Wave- Lightening damage to an area. Can cause Paralyze. Magic: Pain Reflection. Strategy: Keep your peeps spread out. Once again, we have a boss with a shield. This time though, the shield needs a FOUR-attack chain to be put out of commission. His shield also has a much quicker regen period, needing only about 2 or three turns before it comes back, so use your ETAs quickly. He’s very powerful, so continually defend and heal to survive. ------ Hades Location: Olquina Sub-Shrine B2 Storage area. This is the area behind the ball of Ray. You must have completed the “Mysterious Request” Guild Quest to even access this part. The boss only appears during the “Grim Reaper” Guild Quest. Attacks: Life Leap- Drains HP from a single target. Magic- All elements. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use Level 4 magic. He can do magic chains, so be careful. Weak: Light (Wind + Fire) Strategy: He rarely uses regular attacks and pretty much only uses magic attacks. Be sure to kill the raystones, so he doesn’t get any Syncs with them. Keep everyone spread out and defend often. Use ETAs to bring him down. ------ Diana and Catherine Location: Center of the Winding Path area in Ratea Forest. Only appears during the “Those Fowl Birds!!!!!” Guild Quest. Attacks: Summon Catherine (Diana)- Summons Catherin to the field. Always used as the first move. Only used once. Chick Rush (Diana)- Single target attack. Magic: None. Weak: Earth Strategy: Take the stupid chick out, then kill the larger chicken. I used chained area Excel Acts to kill them both at once, pulling off an ETA in the end. Bit of overkill, but it still worked. ------ Calisto Location: Galois Ravine, in the back of the area where you fought the Chimera. Only appears during the “Den of Horrors” Guild Quest. Attacks: Bear Howl: Damage to the whole field. Magic: Earth, Water, Ice. Your chars will get antsy about his Level 3 magic. Weak: Fire, Water Strategy: Once again, this is a battle I took on when I was a little overpowered. One ETA knocked him out. ------ Mamon Location: Mandelro Coast, in the Hidden Docks area, after you beat Eesa. Attacks: Pilfer- steals Rico from you. If you win the battle, you get it all back. HOWEVER, if you decide to flee the battle, you NEVER get it back. Keep that in mind. Assassin Rush- scores several hits. If Blow Defense activates with it, it has the potential to KO you in one go. Magic: Cyclone. Only uses it when he starts to get low on HP. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Cyclone is a level 4 Wind attack, btw. Weak: Light (Wind + Fire) Strategy: The goal here is to just go all out, and try not to let up. He has a lot of attack power, so you may end up spending most of your time on the defensive. On the flipside though, he seems to have very low defense. My ETAs all did 50000+ damage on him. Just take your hits when you can get them in, and defend the rest of the time. Continually heal, even if you’re not in low health. When he starts to get low in HP, he’s use Mid Liquids, usually just one or two at a time. Just be sure to get a few attacks in every turn, and you’ll have nothing to worry about. ------ Ocenus Location: Soliton Caves, where you fought Emerledes. You must beat Eesa for him to appear. Attacks: Lethal Stomp- Earth Damage to a small area. Can cause immobilize. If his Deadly Strike activates when he does this, it can KO a char in one shot, even if they’re defending. Hellrotte- Damage to a large area. Magic: Water, Earth. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use Freezing Cage (a sync’d Frost Lock), a level 4 ice attack. Weak: None. Strategy: This is one of the hardest optional bosses in the game. It has a shield. The shield only requires a 2-attack chain to go down, HOWEVER, it regenerates at the start of every single round. This means our normal strategy for dealing with bosses that have shields is useless. On top of that, it uses Deadly Strike +, which when combined with any of its attacks, ups the attack power exponentially. So how does one deal with all this this? It’s a little simpler than you might think. First of all, defend, and do it often. If you’re at least above level 65, you should be able to survive his Deadly Strike + attacks, no sweat. Heal a lot to keep your HP up. Now another annoying aspect about this boss is that he has a very high defense, even without the shield, ETAs and Rogress only deal around 10000+ damage, that’s it. And sadly, they’re all you got against this jerk. Magic attacks aren’t of much use either, since he seems to have a shield for that. Now on the round you wish to do an ETA, have your fastest char use a two-attack chain as his 1st action, then set everything up for an ETA. Be sure that fast char is who attacks first, or you’re screwed. If you did things right, the two-attack chain will knock out the shield, and your ETA will do its maximum damage. If you do things wrong, the Excel Act chain will be broken, no sync happens, no ETA happens, and you just wasted SP. This is a huge endurance battle, so come prepared. Be sure to equip Earth and Ice armors. That will reduce the damage from Lethal Stomp, and Ice armors will give you good resistance against Immobilize. ------ Benuu Location: Verct Skywalk, just outside the entrance to the Hall of Law, where the area map was. Only appears after you beat Eesa. Attacks: Sky Blader- Single target. Has a high chance of causing Stun. Rain of Light- Light-based damage to the whole field. Your chars will get antsy about it. Magic: Water, Wind stat-raiser Weak: Earth Strategy: This boss is actually pretty simple, it just has a TON of HP. The other problem is that its attacks pack quite a punch. It knows Judgment and Aqua Squall. And it can Sync Aqua Squall to take it up a notch. Defending and healing are extremely important to live long enough to pull off an ETA. ETAs and Rogress are the only things that do any significant amount of damage. It is quite the endurance battle. ------ Jack Lantern Location: Nabra Jungle, where Vifrons was. Only appears after you beat Eesa. Attacks: Luring Voice- summons Titgnias to the field. Magic: Earth Weak: Fire Strategy: So he starts off the battle with the Regen status. Use Dispel Magic to get rid of it. Be sure to equip at least two of your peeps with Lv4 Wind magic. The last one either can have Lv 3 Wind or lv 2 Dark magic, for Dispel Magic. He starts off the battle by summoning Titgnias. Titgnias aren’t super hard to kill like the asshole Erebuses were, they’re just super annoying since their arm forces can add Sickness, Paralyze and Poison. They’re basically royal pains in the ass and can quickly take you down if you’re not careful. But there is an upside: they have a huge wind weakness. Use Lv 3 wind magic to take em out, if they’re clumped to together. Use lv 4 wind if they’re too spread apart. Jack will summon two per turn until you get him down below half health. After that, it’s easy pickings. He will continually attack you each turn after you get him into low HP, so be on your guard. He rarely uses magic, and when he does, it’s usually just Earth defense magic. Between your use of wind magic, and ETAs, he should go down pretty easy. ------ Epetam Location: Lascarde Skywalk Control Room, in the back, by the elevator. Only appears after beating Eesa. Attacks: Sword Dance- Single Target attack. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use it. Tomahawk- Single target attack. Francesca- Damage to an area. Magic: None. Weak: none. Strategy: You need to take the defensive on this, he’s waaaaaay overpowered. When you get the chance, let loose an ETA, and hope for the best. He has Block Physical, so bring along Anti-Force. I was also able to use a Rogress and it was a huge help. For the rest of the time, defend and heal until you have a good enough chance to let off an ETA, then go back to defending. ------ Elizabeth Location: Jada entrance. There’s a glowing blue sword that’s floating behind the wall on the right side, opposite the save point. It’s pretty hard to miss. Only appears after beating Eesa. Attacks: Bag of Doom- Dark damage to a small area. Sword of Beginning- Massive damage to a single target. Your chars will get antsy when she’s about to use it. Magic: Level 4 Fire, Dark, and Lightening Weak: Light (Wind + Fire) Startegy: She’s pretty easy. Just defend, heal and abuse ETAs. The only things you need to watch out for is her magic. She tends to stick to Fire magic, but she can also use Dark and Lightening. She only uses level 4 magic, so just be careful and come properly equipped with the right armors to resist it all. ----- Nyx Location: Holy Land of Noire Foyer of Ally area. It’s the last area of the second section of the dungeon. Attacks: Freeing Sin- Raises attack. He will always do this on the round before he uses Punishments. Punishments- Large amount of dark damage to a single char. If Block Defense activates with it, it can KO a char quickly. Your chars will get antsy when he’s about to use this. Magic: Dark Weak: Light (Wind + Fire) Strategy: So here we have our upgraded Erebus. Now unlike the only battle in the entire game where Erebuses exist, this boss battle does not involve jackass summoners, nor does it have throngs of over-powered enemies. So you can relax. It’s just one super-powered Erebus, and he’s really not that hard. I only used two ETAs to kill him. That was it. Forgot to write down the exact combo, but I do remember that it involved Buster Lore (L’Arc) and Flower of Light (Rastin), naturally, taking advantage of that Light weakness. So just defend, heal, and get two ETAs in and you’ll kill him, no sweat. ------------------------------------------------- Carbunculus Arena Challenges [CACS] The Arena challenges are available for you to take on at any time in the game after you first get to Carbunculus. Taking on Arena challenges costs a little money. The Arena challenges must be done in consecutive order. In other words, after you complete one, the next is available. You can go back do past challenges if you want, but all you’ll get is Rico. All Arena challenges include five rounds of fights, with the exception of the last two challenges, which only have one round of fights. For all Arena challenges, you given a set amount of items and they are: 15 High Liquids, 5 Full Liquids, 10 Revives, 8 Revive Fulls, 3 Specialty Ms, 1 Specialty L, 5 of every Dynamic Status item, 5 of every cure, and 5 Analyzers. At certain points in the challenge, status effects such as Paralyze and Poison will be inflicted on your allies. If you have any Immunity Armors equipped, then your allies will be unaffected. These same statuses will sometimes be inflicted on the enemies, as well. You get 0 Rico, WPs and XPs for winning these challenges. They’re purely for fun. You will get some Rico and a special item such as a weapon or amulet upon completion. I highly recommend you take note of the Level that the game recommends you be at for the chosen challenge, the game isn’t lying. Upon winning a challenge, your HP and MP will be fully restored. ---------- Stalwart Soldiers Enemies: All soldier-type enemies in the game, except for Archon Soldiers. Some of these soldiers can only be found in the Arena, so use your Analyzers then. Strategy: Soldiers have no weaknesses nor do they have any resistances, so any and all attacks will work. As the first challenge of the Arena, the only real restrictions you have to worry about are the status effects that will be inflicted around Round 2 and 3. Just be on your guard for that. ----------- Unholy Undead Enemies: All Undead-type enemies, except for the Undead Soldiers. Strategy: Equip someone with the Undead Bane and abuse your Light attacks, for the most part. ---------- Menacing Menagerie Enemies: A mix of Birds, Aquatics, and Beasts. All are pretty low- level. Strategy: Go all out and don’t hold back. You’ve probably fought them all once before, so it shouldn’t be too hard. ---------- Grueling Grudge Enemies: Same as the 1st Arena Challenge. Strategy: This is basically the same as the 1st challenge, only the enemies are slightly more powerful, but not by a whole lot. ---------- Rallied Rogues Enemies: Sauroids and Archon Soldiers. There are four new Archon Soldiers only seen here in the Arena, so use your Anaylizers. There’s also one new Sauroid. Strategy: For this challenge you are forbidden from using Magic. I think you’ll live without it, trust me. I never use magic anyways. Just go all out with your attacks. Use Excel Acts if you have to. ---------- Creaking Contraptions Enemies: All mechanical enemies found in the Lascarde and Verct Skywalks. Strategy: For this challenge you can’t use the Attack command. So just abuse your magic and Excel Acts. --------- Friends Forsaken BOSSES: The three characters NOT in your main battle party. Yes, that’s right, you’re fighting your friends, hence the name of the challenge. HAVE FUN. *insert evil laugh here* Strategy: This battle’s pretty hard. No matter what Lv you have your chars at, the three you fight will be set to Lv 65. On top of that, as they do count as bosses, they get a massive HP Maxes. Each char will have anywhere from 60000-120000 HP. And it only gets worse. They have infinite SP and MP, seriously. They can and will use any and all Excel Acts they have. So when you choose the three you have to fight, remember that and choose wisely. If you choose someone such as Rastin that has a revival EA, well he will use it when someone goes down. On top of that, THEY CAN USE EXCEL TRINITIES. Because every set of three operates differently, there really isn’t one single strategy for taking this challenge down. I will give you few pointers though. One of them will have access to Raising Wind, and another will have access to Revival. You would do well to take the one with Raising Winds down first. May want to save the one with Revival for last, since if they do use Revival, Bless will bring them back with over 50% HP, and given their massive HP, they’ll get a hefty amount of HP back. The third char will be able to use Revive Bottles, and Full Cure, but they only do it like once or twice, so you can probably go after that one second. --------- Radiant Rondo BOSSES: Lucia, Vanessa, and Saki Attacks: Flash Drive (Saki)- Way of the Falcon- Ups Stats Way of Hawk- Ups Stats Call Wind- large wind damage to a large area Call Thunder- large lightening damage to area Spear of the Heavens (Saki): Large amount of damage to a small area. Can cause Immoblize. Your chars will get antsy when she’s about to use it. Shocking Blade Chaos (Saki)- Single target attack. Dreams and Illisions(Saki)- Single target attack Overblast (Lucia)- Large amount of light damage to an area. Your chars will get antsy when she’s about to use it. Purgatory (Vanessa)- Large amount of Fire damage to an area. Can cause confuse. Your chars will get antsy when she’s about to use it. Magic: Light and Fire Weak: None Strategy: Equip all fire-resistant armors you have, Wind reisistance will also help, to resist Lucia’s light magic. Lucia knows every single Light magic attack in the game. Vanessa knows every single Fire magic attack in the game. And to top it all off Saki is one hell of a physical attacker. Now at the start of the battle, they all three have the Bless Effect. So on the first turn, while they’re still grouped together, use Magical Disjunction (Sync’d Dispel Magic), to get rid of it on Lucia and Vanessa. Saki will use a Sheild of Aegis and thus have Stop All, so will be unaffected for that attack. You can use Dispel Magic again on her the next round. Vanessa will use Above and Beyond during the first round, so next round use Dispel magic again on her to get rid of her HP MAX Up stat. Use any healing strategies you developed in the Forsaken Friends challenge to keep your HP up. I highly reccamend abusing water heal magic, because you only have so many healing items. Take Lucia down first, since she has Spirit Call and will use it whenever someone goes down. When she goes down, Saki will use a Revive bottle on her, but that’s fine! Chill out and kill Lucia again. Saki shouldn’t bother reviving her again. Your next target is Saki. When Saki gets down in low HP she will start using Liquids on herself and her allies. She will use Full Liquids on her allies and Mid Liquids on herself. She can sometimes use Full Liquids on herself, but it’s pretty rare. After Saki goes down, Vanessa’s easy pickings. She’ll punish you with her fire magic, but she’s not too hard to kill. END CHALLENGES ------------------------------- Trinity Acts Listing [TAL]: After you defeat the Fafnir, you can use Trinity Acts as you please. To a do Trinity Act, all three chars must use an Excel Act on the same target. IT MUST BE THE 1ST ACTION THEY DO. If you do an action before the Excel Act, the chain will break, and the Trinity won’t happen. All Trinities are Single-Target attacks. Trinity Acts count as Physical Attacks, contrary to what the characters actually use for attacking. But despite that, ETAs and TAs still do damage when Block Physical is activated, it’s an extremely weak amount, but it happens. I think the attack is just damn powerful that it overpowers the Arm Force and is thus able to deal damage. Or I could be completely wrong, which is always a possibility. I’m not the damn game creator. Mystic Fortune Element: Water SP Average: Less than 50%. Description: The default TA, as it were. If your Excel Acts don’t all match the SP requirement for a certain TA, Mystic Fortune is used. It is the least powerful of all the Trinities. If you accidently chain with a Guest, you will use this TA, unless the Guest uses a more powerful EA. Geo Impact Element: Earth SP Average: Above 50% Description: Second most powerful TA in the game. If you accidently chain with a guest, and they’re using an EA that matches the SP requirement, you will do this TA. Excel Trinity Acts Element: Variable SP Average: 60% or above Description: A very special Trinity Act that is activated when all three characters use either their most powerful Excel Act, or second most powerful Excel Act, that they can possibly learn in the entire game. YOU CANNOT CHAIN WITH A GUEST TO DO AN EXCEL TRINITY. If you try to, you’ll just do Geo Impact. The character that leads the charge determines which ETA happens. I will list them all below: Disaster Fang Character: L’Arc Element: Wind Description: L’Arc hacks away at the enemy with his sword, unleashing a tornado at the end, to deal even more damage. How L’Arc is still unable to chop targets into pieces is beyond me. “THIS IS… IT!” Crimson Shoot Character: Leslie Element: Fire Description: Leslie uses a super powered fire-based magic attack on the target. If you thought she may have been a sadist before, watch this attack and listen to what she says. The woman loves what she does. “So long… sweet dreams!” Million Regret Character: Serge Element: Ice Description: Serge unleashes all icy hell on the target, ending by dropping a giant-ass iceberg on it. The man knows how to use his magic. “See? Even more tricks up my sleeve!” Luminoso Character: Ryfia Element: Light Description: Like Adele’s Decadent Song, only it’s the Light version. Ryfia calls down a ball of light to smite the enemy. Never doubt the power of a song. Exceed Lightening Character: Ceceille Element: Lightening Description: Ceceille moves at lightning-fast speeds to score a s**tload of hits on the target, ending with a little explosion, and showing off a statue of herself in a heroic pose. She never fails to amuse me. “KABOOOM!” Shadow Slash Character: Rastin Element: Dark Description: Rastin lets loose a beam of darkness that strikes the target, causing a small explosion of dark power. He then jumps up into the air, and slashes at the target with another beam of darkness. He continues to astound me with his bad-assery. “BEGONE” -------------------------------------------------------- Status Effects and what they do [STATEFF]: Throughout the game, your characters can have several status effects inflicted upon them, and they can inflict the same effects on the enemy. When the conditions are met, go to ANY guild, go to Active Quests, and press A on the quests you’ve completed. If you’ve met the conditions, you will be asked if you wish to complete the quest, say yes to get your reward. Since their descriptions are pretty well done, and they honestly don’t ever skimp on the details, I don’t feel any need to post a guide to each one. However, if enough people want help, I will provide help in this section and via email. I will, however, mention important ones that you should take on: Archic Relics -1- Grants you the Summon Function on your lightship, upon completion. After talking to Grantz, go to Zeifelt. On the right side of the 2nd floor of the Entrance Hall, you’ll see a sparkly spot. Examine it to get the Rusty Parts. Bring them back to Grantz for your lightship upgrade. Archic Relics-2- Only available after completing the 1st one. Upgrades your lightship so it’s faster, can land on the desert, and has Autopilot. After talking to Grantz, go to the Olquina Sub-Shrine. Take the lift down to B3. At the end of the hall to the left of the lift, there’s a sparkly spot with your Rusty Parts. Take them to Grantz for the upgrades. Monster Researcher- By taking this on, you will be allowed to view the Monster Log under Library in the Status Menu. All monsters you’ve used Analyzers on show up, and even ones you haven’t used analyzers on. It displays all info you have on the monsters. You DO NOT HAVE TO COMLETE THE QUEST to unlock this feature, just take it on. Now if you do wish to complete this quest, you simply need to use an analyzer on 30 different monsters, for it to count has logging it. Not that hard. ;) Mysterious Request- Lets you get past the balls of Ray seen in various dungeons. Go to Opalus. In the Local School area, go down the left ally and examine the walls until you see a cutscene. Now go to Antrax, in the very back area, near the entrance to the Tidal Road, there is a ruined building with cats. Go there to see a cutscene. Now go to Ratea Forest. In the Deep Forest area, there is a small path on the right side. It’s very hard to see, but it’s there. Go there for a cutscene. You’ll discover a new area and view a cutscene. Upon exiting, you’ll see another cutscene and Kopin learns a new ability. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick and dirty Weapon Customization [WEPCUS]: All weapons come with three kinds of Arm Forces: Native, Unlockable, and a Weapon Secret. The Native Arm Forces are shown as black blocks and cannot be removed from the weapon. The unlockable Arm Force is shown as a regular Arm Force, with a symbol on it. As you earn WP by using the weapon in battle, the Arm Force Frame will expand itself, and the unlockable Arm Force will become unlocked for use on other weapons. When the entire Arm Force Frame is unlocked, fill the entire frame with Arm Forces to unlock the Weapon’s Weapon Secret. Weapon Secrets are only active while the Arm Force Frame is completely full. Moon Inns allow you to rest up on a bed for free. They’re usually always worth the trouble of finding. Full Moon- North of Nabra Jungle. Kopin adds its location to your map upon leaving Nabra Jungle. Half Moon- Just NW of Carbunculs, Directly South of Gauss Tunnel. Its location is automatically added to your map, after you beat the 2nd Rogress Dungeon after getting the Lightship. Crescent- Directly west of the North Gauss Tunnel exit. Waning Crescent- NE of Galois Ravine, just slightly NW of the continental bridge between Meridia and Turemilia. It’s very hard to miss. Old Moon- Southern tip of the desert. Directly SE of Zeifelt, directly SW of HIbert. Waxing Crescent- Directly NW of the Resolvent Iceberg (aka, the Snowy Temple). New Moon- Island on the NW coast of Meridia. Slightly SW of Topazion. ------------------------------- Magic Spells List [MSP]: Throughout the game, you gain Orbs, sometimes referred to as “gems” and equipping them allows you to do magic. There are four primary elements and each has two attacks per level magic. They are Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth. There are also four compound elements, formed when two orbs of the same level are equipped. They are Light (Wind + Fire), Dark (Fire + Earth), Ice (Earth + water), and Lightening (Water + Wind). The compound elements only have one attack per level. To get a Sync spell, the same spell must be used twice in the same round, on the same target. If two or more people do this, it is called a “Magic Chain” and ups the amount of AP regained the next round. Chain Excel Acts before you’re allowed to use TAs- During the Fafnir battle, you can chain your Excel Acts together at any time, before you officially take his HP down to 0. (This may not actually be a glitch, my sister just sorta discovered this by accident while battling Fafnir. It may be entirely possible to do this before the Fafnir battle, I just never tried it.) Use Heal without wasting MP outside of battle- This allows for infinite Lv 1 magic when not in combat, only allowing you to heal but with the possibility of storing up to 9 MP regardless of character’s Max. Obviously you must have a water gem on desired character. Next step is to somehow drain that character’s MP to 0. Now comes the trick: In the menu, select use magic, now go to a character next to the character with 0 MP and go under the level two tab. Now press the side arrow to go back to the character with zero MP. You should notice that you can now select heal even though the character has no MP. Heal your party up and you will notice that each time you heal your Lv 1 MP pool will go up till it hits 9. After 9 it will reset back to zero but if it’s a character you don't use then no harm done. This allows you to fully heal your party between battles without items. Great help when WP or XP grinding. (Credit goes to Jago) Max out the Game Clock: The in-game clock maxes out at 99:59:59. It just completely stops recording time, there is no reset. TIME IS NO LONGER GOING FORWARD. OHSH**T! I actually maxed out my clock without noticing, my brother’s the one who took notice. Much lulz were had by all. ---------------------------------------- Legal Crap: This Walkthrough is copyright J. R. Conrad. It is to only be posted and viewed on CheatCC.com. Redistribution of my material without my permission is really not cool. Please don’t do that. ------------------- Special Thanks: My younger brother and sister- for creating files, playing through, and letting me take notes on stuff I had missed. Thanks guys! BBlack- For the heads up on Ryfia’s ETA. Grfstrider- For letting me know you don’t need to beat Eesa to bond with the 3 Optional Rogress. Jago- For the infinite lv1 magic cheat info. abr811- for the info on using Dispel Magic during the Kudoan battle. Mrleelongi- For the updated Allwise info, info on Eesa, and the silly Kudoan rumor. ------------ Contact: If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me, my address is jrcnrd@gmail.com.
