A fun, action-packed and accessible title set during a tumultuous period of Japanese history, Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes follows players as they fight their way to dramatic battle of Sekigahara. Victory in battle will not only deliver a new territory but the natural resources of that region, which can be used to upgrade weapons. With unique playable characters along with supporting generals who make it easier to command and lead armies, players will see the battle from the perspective of each military commander with the goal of re-writing history and ruling 16th century Japan. In the dynamic new “Heroes' Story” mode, the player’s decisions impact history with a redesigned story mode. Based on choices made by the player, new drama unfolds as friends become enemies, enemies become friends, and a new Sengoku story unfolds. Adding a new strategic element to the game, forces can fight for control of entire battlefields, and ultimately the nation. It is also been made into an anime series which is also released on DVD and Blu-ray for yours to own and to compare between the game as well!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.2 Version History Version 0.1- Began to document Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes FAQ. Version 0.2- Researched more into the game and Structured the FAQ. Version 0.3- Character info and Basara Mart info added. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.3 FAQ Here are some common FAQ that may be asked. Here they are: Q. I keep being KO’d when I do the difficult levels. Why? A. There are a few reasons. 1. You are not leveled up 2. You do not have the sufficient equipment 3. Did you learn how to parry, roll from danger and strafe enemy attacks? Q. My combo count keeps going to zero after less than 1 second! What do I do?? A. Simple. Just keep defeating more enemies! There is a hidden timer gauge where the meter goes up when you defeat enemies. The combo goes to 0 when you are hit by an enemy. Q. There’s too many enemies to handle! What do I do??? A. There will be times that discretion is the better part of valour in any game from hack and slash to RPGs. When you are surrounded by enemies that will easily own you will have to retreat so you can reform your plans to avoid a defeat. However, a retreat does not GUARANTEE that you will avoid them but you may encounter more of the numbers in soldiers/men overall. Q. What is the easiest gameplay to play on the Wii... The Classic Controller PRO or the Wii Remote and Nunchuck? A. Simple. The Classic Controller PRO. Easier to play with and you don't have to memorise too many buttons on the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. But the gameplay is up to you. Q. When I finish the level, what does the ?????? mean? A. These are the optional quests for Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. In order to obtain credibility, you must meet a certain criteria or defeat a certain foe in the game. Not only they are difficult to find, they rack up a lot of EXP for your character and is suitable for levelling up characters. Usually, they are highlighted in yellow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.4 Similarities and Differences between the Wii Version and the PS3 version For Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, there are two versions: The Wii and the PS3 version. There are a few similarities and differences to both games based on its main console platform and their design: Similarities: - Same characters and their movesets. - Same items, equipments and objectives. - No dual language option (i.e. No Japanese audio sub guys!) Differences: - For achievements, the Wii will display your achievements in the gallery section while the PS3 has their own achievements via a trophy collection. - No online Wifi gameplay for the Wii whereas the PS3 has Wifi gameplay. - PS3 has better graphics. - PS3 uses one controller whereas Wii uses two types of controllers: The Wii remote and nunchuck or the Classic Controller (Pro) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Basics, Gameplay controls and Advanced techniques 2.1 Basics In Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, it is a lot different to the Samurai Warriors or Dynasty Warriors series except with a few differences: -You are given no items to use off or on hand. -Comboing enemies are a lot harder and requires practice as the combo meter can reset back to 0 if you are hit by an enemy. -You choose your own path that can change Japan's nation through Heroes' Mode (There are alternate paths to choose from) (more information will be coming soon!) 2.2 Gameplay controls Wii Remote and nunchuck Coming Soon! Combination techniques Coming soon! Classic Controller PRO L- Guard/Block/Parry (Use the left control stick or the directional pad to strafe) R- Use character's third ability ZL- Heroes Arts (Explained later) ZR- Character's Super Art (When unlocked) Left control stick/Directional pad- movement (tap twice to run) Right control stick- Camera Angle X- Normal Attack (First ability) Y- Power/Finisher Attack A- Basara Arts (Explained later) B- Jump L + X- Use character's fourth ability Movement + X - Use character's second ability ZL + A - Ultimate Basara Arts 2.2 Advanced techniques Heroes Arts Heroes Arts allows your chosen character to slow the flow of time to deal major damage to groups of enemies or one tough enemy officer for a limited. amount of time It can be filled by defeating enemies, officers and occupying camps as well as equipping accessories that can enhance your character's weapon. But be careful, it should be used in a tight situation otherwise you may lose the advantage in a difficult boss battle that can cost you your victory in a level. You can refill them through items in the game in the levels. Basara Arts Basara Arts allows your chosen character to perform devastating combos and KOs on enemies. Like the Heroes Arts gauge it can be filled by defeating enemies, officers and occupying camps as well as equipping accessories that can enhance your character's weapon. It can also be filled automatically when your HP is at critical. To ensure its working, you should hear a heartbeat in the background based on how much HP is remaining for your character. Ultimate Basara Arts Combine the Heroes Arts and the Basara Arts and you can perform major damage to groups of enemies or one tough enemy officer for a limited amount of time. However, you must press the button combination on your controller properly otherwise it may screw your chances on winning for a bit. It is a make or break ability you can use that can turn the tide in battle. Blocking/Strafing I know this is a basic technique but I can't stress enough to say, "Prioritise strafing!" because there will be enemy bosses that will deal devastating damage to you if you do not learn to block your enemy attacks that can cost you your chances of winning in the later levels of the game. You can also strafe by holding the block button and using the movement control to get out of harm's way. It can save you from a tight situation. Duel To engage in a duel, you must keep on pressing the attack button for a consecutive amount of times until you will see a gauge. To win the duel, you must mash the attack button all the way until the red is all gone in the gauge so you can deliver a powerful duel finish on an enemy. 2.3 How the combo system works The combo system is a lot different in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes as it adds a degree of challenge to the player overall. The combo will build once you land a hit or more on enemy/s. However, if you are hit by an enemy or you do not hit another enemy for a pause of time (at least 0.5-1 seconds), it will reset the combo meter back to 0. Its similar to the shootemup genres that require you to keep the combo meter going to rack up the points. Here is the part where it gets interesting: You receive a judgment based on how many combos you rack up in battle and the bonuses you will receive. You will also see a multiplier at the bottom right hand screen where you can rack up more money funds just by defeating enemies! Here's how the combo flow works: 80-99 combos: Ready 100-199 combos: Nice! 200-299 combos: Awesome!! (x2 multiplier) 300-399 combos: Radical!!! (x3 multiplier) 400-499 combos: Basara!!!! (x4 multiplier) 500-999 combos: Frenzy!!!!! (x5 multiplier) 1000+ combos: Super Frenzy!!!!!!!!!! (x11 multiplier) Note: When you're in the Frenzy/Super Frenzy judgment, your combo meter will last for at least 1-2 seconds before it hits basara and at least 0.5-1 seconds before it resets back to 0. You will also receive Zennys for KOs made to enemies! So practice, practice, practice to earn more to purchases later in the game. 2.4 Important concepts in battle 2.4.1 Zennys What are Zennys? Zennys are the currency used in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. It is acquired in battle by breaking your boxes (blue coloured), defeating enemies normally or when they are in the Frenzy/Super Frenzy section in comboing groups of enemies. It can also be obtained by selling your weaponry that have a lower attack power than the other weapon (i.e. Weapon A is kept while Weapon B is sold because of its low attack power or Weapon A is sold for x no. of Zennys due to the other weapons are stronger than the others and so on and so forth.) Zennys are also acquired by the allies you have on battle if you meet specific conditions. (more on allies and their unique abilities are covered) Spending your Zennys Your Zennys are spent at the Basara Mart to create more accessories for your weapon to equip. So start saving your Zennys! 2.4.2 Materials Materials are items you find in treasured boxes during battle. There are common materials that can be found in most levels and some rare materials that can be found in unique levels. At first, you won't know what materials there are or their location to find them but once you unlock the level, you can go back as any character and farm for materials required to create your accessories. 2.4.3 Allies Allies are special officers in your army that help/assist you in battle when you are within radius. They add special effects such as attack up or defence up and reward you for meeting certain criteria within battle. As you use allies more, you level them up if you manage to achieve victory in battle. The maximum you can go for levelling allies up is "Ability+". This means that the effect is stronger than the usual ability based on the confidence level. 2.4.4 Garments Garments are the characters' alternate clothing when you have cleared the characters' story mode at least once. Its mostly here for fun but you can choose what you want them to wear in battle for laughs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Some accessories will require normal materials and unique materials you have obtained within battle as you progress. At the start, you technically cannot use the Basara Mart when you first play the game since you have no materials or Zennys in stock!!!! You will also unlock accessory creations as you progress throughout the game so be sure to visit frequently! You can also verse yourself and your own army as an extra laugh! You can also acclaim other materials needed for your accessory, complete hidden objectives, even find fugitives (if you're lucky to find them)! TIP: Look at the contents of the material so you can focus on which battles have the materials so you can create the accessory quicker. 3.1.1 Available battles There are a total of 38 battles to choose from. I will do a list soon of all campaigns and levels as well as a walkthroughs in development. Stay tuned! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Basara Mart Guide and Tips and Tricks The Basara Mart allows the player to spend their acquired Zennys and materials to create accessories that can help power up their weapons from attack, defence and critical hits to their main health and specialties. CAUTION: Be sure to choose carefully what accessories you want to create as you won't be able to dismantle the accessory and retrieve the materials used! The only way you can undo the last action is by reloading your current save. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.
