INTRODUCTION ****************************************************************************** Greetings, one and everyone, and welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for Zack & Wiki, Capcom's wonderful entry into the world of puzzle-adventure gaming! In this guide, you'll not only find solutions for all the puzzles in this game, but also "hint-throughs" for when you need just a bit of a push in the right direction, as well as a list of all the secret treasures to be found in the game. ****************************************************************************** 2. FAQ ****************************************************************************** Q: What is Zack & Wiki? A: This is a puzzle adventure game for the Nintendo Wii, released in late 2007. It fully incorporates the use of the Wii Remote's sensors for an immersive experience. Q: What is this game's rating? A: This game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. It has an added content notice of "Cartoon Violence". Q: Is this game good for my kids? A: As far as content and relative ease of play go, this game would be fine for kids of any age. As far as difficulty in puzzle-solving goes, you might find that even adults might have a difficult time wrapping their brains around these puzzles. Q: Is there any multiplayer in this game? A: The game is meant to be a single-player experience. However, additional Wii Remotes can be connected to be used for "guiding". The extra Wii Remotes can be used to draw lines on the screen to point the main player in the proper direction. This could be quite useful for parents who want to aid their kids in gameplay. Q: Is there any way I can get hints without having to go through your guide and potentially be spoiled? A: You can buy Oracle Dolls from Granny in the hideout. Tap 1 at any time during a mission to use one to get a hint about what to do next. Be mindful, though, that if you've gone "out of order" on some of your tasks, the next hint might not be all that helpful. Also, using an OD will cost you some HQ at the end of the mission. Q: Do I always have to go all the way back to the beginning if I die? A: Not necessarily. Buy Platinum Tickets from Granny, and if you croak, you'll have the option to "Revive", basically putting you at the last safe spot in the mission. Be wary though, that you will lose HQ for this, and that all your coins will be taken as payment. Q: Can I get any higher clear rate on an area than 70%? A: Not until you finish the main storyline of the game. Once that's done, you can go back to each of the areas to find Secret Treasure and fill up your percentage. Q: Is there any way I can predict what Maddy will bring back on his treasure hunts? Is there any way I can be assured to get the bonus items, like the Hi-Speed Ship? A: Maddy's treasures fall into two categories: those you find just by sending him out anywhere, and those you find on "X"'s on the Secret Treasure Maps. While there is a pattern to the treasure sequence, you can't really rely on Maddy bringing back specific treasures based on area. Now, I'm unsure if Map # applies to which area you find it in, or which treasure you get, but I will tell you that I got the Hi-Speed Ship from a secret treasure found in "The Crystal Key", so if you don't find it there, then it's random. Q: How do I play Bonelich's music games? I can't get the timing right! A: The best way I find to hit the markers on these little mini-games is to hold the Wii Remote vertically and "ring" downward in front of you, as if you were a caroler. Use swift movements so that you don't keep ringing if you don't want to. The zigzag lines mean you have to constantly ring the bell. Q: How can I get a higher score? Why didn't I get full credit for this thing I did? A: To get full credit, you generally have to do things in the right order, in one try, and without messing up at all. So, if you can possibly streamline the process, do so to improve your score. That said, on some of the less obvious ones, I've left little notes what you need to do to get maximum score. Q: What's the maximum ranking you can get? A: My highest at the moment is "Legendary Pirate King", where I have all 500 treasures, and over 5 million HQ, total. That said, HQ goes higher, so there may be a higher rank. Adding all my current max scores, I've come up with a maximum HQ of 5170000. Of course, that's not a very round number. Q: What does "HirameQ" mean? A: Well, I'm told that the Japanese word "hirameki" means "thoughtfulness" or "insight". It's a simple pun to turn the "ki" into a "kyoo", which makes it a play off of "IQ". ****************************************************************************** 3. Basics ****************************************************************************** ============== 3A. Controls = ============== This game is controlled entirely with the Wii Remote. Pointer: Cursor on the game's screen. Used along with the A button to manipulate most things in the game. A Button: Action Button. Used to make selections on menus, point to a spot for Zack to walk to, or point to "hotspots" to manipulate them. B Button: Camera Shift Button. Hold this down and you can use the Wii Remote to "look around" your immediate surroundings. Also, this is used to cancel selections or "go back" from close-ups in the field. + Button: Used to pause the action and bring up the Pause Menu. - Button: Used to skip certain cutscenes. All cutscenes must be viewed at least once before they can be skipped. 1 Button: Use to call the Oracle to use an Oracle Doll on. Control Pad and 2 Button: May be used with certain items and devices. Motion Sensor: Used with many various tasks. With nothing else specified, shaking the Remote will cause Zack to ring Wiki. --- Basic Movement and Manipulation Moving Zack - Point at the screen and press A and Zack will move there if you've pointed to any patch of ground that he can travel to. Also, you can hold down A and Zack will basically follow the cursor if he's able. Hotspots - Normally, the cursor is yellow. If you point to a "hotspot", the cursor will turn pink. Press A while pointing to it and Zack will attempt to interact with it if he can reach it. These hotspots can be normal objects like ladders or doors, or some more complicated devices. Closeup Interaction - On many hotspots, you will zoom in to a closer view of the object or device in question. These closeups may have hotspots of their own that you can manipulate. Also, most items can only be used with other objects during closeups. Once you click on a hotspot, you may be given a Wii Remote representation of what to do to manipulate, whether it's pulling down on a lever, rotating a switch, or grabbing something. --- Wiki Ringing the Bell - Simply shake the Wii Remote and Zack will grab Wiki and ring him like a bell. Itemizing - One of the main uses of ringing Wiki is to transform certain creatures into Items. This will not only remove any potential danger to you, but also allow you to use the Item to proceed in the mission. More info is below. Ringing Wiki near the Item will turn it back into its creature form. Sparkly Spots - Most missions have small sparkly spots for the observant. Ring Wiki near these to reveal coins or perhaps a Mysterious Treasure. Major Treasures - The main objective of almost every mission is to find and open the big treasure chest at the end. All these chests are guarded by spirits. Ring Wiki near them continuously to dispel the spirits so you can take the treasure and end the level. --- Items Basic Info - There are many items in missions that you can pick up and use elsewhere. Point at an item and press A to pick it up. To drop the item, go to the Item Icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, hold down A to take the item, and drag the item out of the icon. Zack will then drop the item nearby. You can only hold one item at a time. One-handed Items - These are smaller items that Zack can comfortably hold in one hand. With these in hand, he can still perform most movements, such as climbing ladders or ringing Wiki. Only "minor damage" can cause Zack to drop a one-handed Item prematurely. Two-handed Items - These are heavier items that Zack needs both hands to carry. Zack walks more slowly while holding them, and he's more limited in what he can do. Trying to ring Wiki, climb a ladder, swim, or access other things that could require two hands will make Zack drop the item. However, it is possible to manipulate some objects (in closeup) while holding on to a big Item. Using Items - Most items are used in closeups. If an item can be used, then clicking on a hotspot will pull it out. You may get a Wii Remote representation of how to work the Item, so pay attention. Coins - Zenny is the currency of this world, and you'll find many a coin scattered about. Some of these you can find in pots, stones, or plants. Others you need to ring Wiki to uncover. You can collect these coins by walking over them, by pointing at them and pressing A, or you can draw them to you by ringing Wiki nearby. You only keep coins that you finish the mission with. Bronze coins are worth 10 zenny, silver are worth 50, and gold are worth 100. --- Dangers Minor Dangers - There is no health meter in this game, only things that can knock Zack back, and things that finish him. Minor dangers include simple things like most itemizable creatures, but to be honest, these are few and far between. These will do no worse than stall Zack and make him drop what he's carrying. Major Dangers - Most of the evils in this game can be categorized here. These include the obvious, such as lava, spikes, and very long falls. Also included are situations where enemies have weapons and you don't, or where enemies outnumber you, or are very obviously larger and stronger than you. Also, in your puzzle-solving, watch out for moving, sliding, or rolling objects, as those can ruin your day, as well. If you croak, you'll have the option or restarting the area, reviving to a recent point (if you have a Platinum Ticket) and quitting back to the hideout. If you restart or quit, nothing you found will stay with you. --- Completing a Mission HirameQ - Doing just about anything in this game will give you "HQ", which is basically another way of saying "points". Each "event" in a mission is worth a specific number of HQ. For instance, throwing a rock at a tree could be worth 10000/10000 HQ. If you get it on the first throw, you'll get the full 10000. If you miss or do something incorrectly, you may get a lower score out of the 10000, down to 100. The more HQ you earn, the higher your rating at the end of the mission, all the way up to "Unpuzzleable". Be advised though, that although it's the top rating, it doesn't necessarily mean you have the maximum amount of HQ for the mission. Treasures - At the end of a mission, all the items you've picked up will be listed in the lower-left. These will then be added to your catalog. See "Filling the Catalog" under Extras for how to get everything. Rank - Your Pirate Rank is determined by the number of treasures you've found and your total HirameQ. I have no idea about the algorithm which determines how you advance, so don't bother asking. Suffice to say that getting more gets you a better rank. Secret Treasures - After completing the game, you'll be tasked with finding extra treasures in the missions. These are completely hidden and will only appear if you do something special. This may be something that seems monotonous or something that requires a great amount of skill. If you use Maddy to search for treasure, he may sometimes find "Ancient Lore" which gives you hints on how to find the treasures. All the Lore hints and means to find the treasures are listed in Section 6. ==================== 3B. Menus/Displays = ==================== Most of the "Menu Stuff" is taken care of in the Hideout, which I'll describe in the following section. But there are a few other menus/displays to take care of. --- File Select This game can hold three files. Select whichever file you wish to start or delete that file. --- Main Game Display There are two main icons to consider when exploring the field in the upper- right corner of the screen. The Item Icon is only applicable if holding an item. Click on it to view a closeup of your item, where you can rotate and look at it from a different angle. Also, if you drag the item off the icon, you will drop it. The Camera Icon, when clicked on, will give you a full-view of the stage. You can still manipulate hotspots like this, if you wish, or just get a look at the whole area. If you hold B, you'll zoom in on where your pointer is. To exit this view, click on the Camera Icon again. ============================= 3C. The Sea Rabbits Hideout = ============================= This is the main hub of the game. All other points of the game are accessed through the characters gathered in the hideout. Icons point to the characters with a picture describing their function. You can turn these icons off by pressing B if you wish. Click on any character or their icon to talk to them. --- Captain Hulk - This is the big guy in the middle, and the guy you'll probably talk to the most (second-most if you like to find everything in the game). Talking to him will show you the main world map, whereby you can select a mission to try to tackle. As you progress through the game, more missions will be unlocked. Johnny Style - In the lower right corner (the foreground) is Johnny, who pops out of his barrel to tell you your current statistics. Dimmy - Dimmy walks around the foreground. Talking to him will give you hints about how to progress through the game, as well as rumors. Hearing new ones will add them to your Rumors in the bookshelf. Loafrey - In the hammock in the upper-left corner, Loafrey will tell you how to operate items and contraptions in each of the missions of the game. Note that he won't tell you how to operate them unless you've actually completed the mission. Granny - Just below Loafrey in her little puppet stage is Granny, who will sell you Oracle Dolls and Platinum Tickets. Note that every time you buy one of each, the price goes up, so watch your wallet. Maddy - The adventurous Maddy shows up a little ways into the game, offering to search the world for treasure for you. Point to any spot on the map and he'll take off for it, coming back after the next mission you complete. It costs coins to send him out, more for sending him further away. Once he comes back, he'll show you the treasure he's found, which varies in number and rarity. If you like to find everything, Maddy will easily be the one you talk to most. More info on stuff you can find by him can be found in "Filling the Catalog" in Extras. Barbaros - The ancient pirate who will offer you his ship in exchange for freeing him from the curse. You can open his "coffin" on the far left of the room to speak to him about his exploits, as well as get some hints about the game, much like a "second Dimmy" in that respect. Like Dimmy, his words will also be put in the Rumors section of the bookshelf. Bookshelf - On the far right of the room is where your catalog is stored, consisting of six books. Each book documents a different function: Red Book - Creatures: Shows Itemizable Enemies, Non-Itemizable Enemies, and Main Characters. Orange Book - Items: Shows Enemy Items, Regular Items, Treasure Maps, and Mysterious Treasure. Green Book - Movies: Plays cutscenes from the main game. Cyan Book - Sounds: Shows Music and Sound FX. Blue Book - Art: Shows art of People and Places. Gray Book - Rumors: Shows Journey Advice, Pirate News, and later on in the game, Ancient Lore. Info on how to fill the books can be found in "Filling the Catalog" in Extras. ================== 3D. Hints & Tips = ================== Basic Tips When in doubt, ring Wiki. Sometimes the weirdest things will happen at the sound of a bell. Push, pull, pick up, and prod everything. Take risks. Can't do any worse than kill you. ^_^ Use the Camera to get a lay of the land. Try to map out a path to the treasure, or at least get a look at the place if the path isn't obvious. Examine every part of "closeups". Sometimes the thing that will help you won't be all that obvious until you point at it. Don't forget that once you itemize an enemy, you can also normalize it. Sometimes they won't be useful to you unless they're in creature form. Don't forget Oracle Dolls and Platinum Tickets. Have some of the former if you get really stumped, or some of the latter if you want to try to take a risk that might get you killed. There is no time limit to the game. Unless you're in an obviously dangerous situation, you can take your time and explore, or stop and think to get your bearings. Invite a friend or two to play. Better ideas come from more heads. --- Late-game Hints When looking for high scores, you don't need to worry about time (unless you're in an obviously dangerous situation with something attacking you), so don't rush so much that you make a mistake and have to start over because of a reduced HQ. Be aware that there may be more than one way to accomplish your goal, and doing it a different way may net you a higher score. If you want absolutely everything, you'll need to use Maddy LOTS of times so he collects a bunch of treasure for you. Mysterious Treasures are found in the oddest of places. Some aren't marked by a sparkly spot. Some only appear in their spot once in a while. Fortunately, none are completely in the middle of nowhere, so there will be some kind of landmark to follow. ****************************************************************************** 4. Hint-throughs ****************************************************************************** I've decided to put these together in the style of UHS or "Invisihints", in the sense that you can get vague hints at first, then scroll down to get more specific hints. You won't get walkthroughs here, and the hints assume that you at least walk around and explore a bit. ======================= 4A. A Journey Begins! = ======================= What's the point of this mission? - No hints for this one. - Johnny and Wiki tell you everything you need to do. - Just make sure to look around everywhere and follow their instructions. ==================== 4B. Pit of Tragedy = ==================== What's the point of this mission? - Just explore a bit. There's not much to it. - There's a locked door. - You'll probably need a key, and it can't be hidden too hard. - The key is on the pillar on the area above the door. --- How do I get the key? - Obviously you'll need help reaching it. - Have you found anything else living? - Maybe in a pot? - There's a Snake in the pot on the far right end. - Remember what Wiki told you about itemizing? - Ring-a-ding-ding! - Use Wiki on the Snake in the pot to turn it into a Slither Gripper. - While holding it, you can reach the key. - Tug hard a few times to detach it. --- I'm through the door. How do I get past the crumbling pit? - The means isn't hidden very well. - It's that chain near the door. - Can't reach it? Haven't we been here before? - Go grab the Slither Gripper and use it on the chain. =================================== 4C. Flute of the Growlin' Goblins = =================================== What's the point of this mission? - The chest is in the fire on the pillar. Watch for a bit. - Notice how as the flute plays, the fire changes? - You need that flute. Read on. --- How can I get through the Goblins? - They're certainly alert. - You need to make them not alert. - You need to put them to sleep. Read on. --- What can I do with the Snake, initially? - He seems content enough down there. - Putting him to sleep is not really advised. - You want to tick him off. - Maybe something hard you can drop on him? - It's off to the east. - Use the gondola to cross to the east. The trees there have coconuts. --- How can I cross the gondola safely? - The game tells you, really. - The Goblins are quite focused as they pray. - Not so much while they dance. - Move the gondola while they pray, and stop while they dance. --- Okay, I moved the Snake, which spooked a Goblin. Now what? - You can now go down to the pot area safely. - But not much further. - You need to put the Goblins to sleep. - The Sleeping Mushroom is the obvious means of doing that. - Grab one and dump it in the pot. - Now, how to get the Goblins over there? - Did you watch the Goblin near the pot as you crossed the gondola? He did something. - You need that Iron Ladle. - Can't reach it? - Use Wiki on the Snake to turn it into a Slither Gripper. Use that to grab the Ladle. - Now, give 'em the gong. - Use the Ladle on the gong to summon all the Goblins. - Of course, once you do that, get the heck up the vine. --- The Goblins are all asleep. Now what? - One of them dropped something. - Take the Growlin' Goblin Flute one of them dropped. - Walk over to the pillar. - Note the pattern. - Follow the directions, top to bottom, to play the melody. The last one may be a little tricky to hit. - If one of the carvings says to press multiple buttons, you have to press them all at once. =========================== 4D. The Fountain Guardian = =========================== What's the point of this mission? - This mission is named for that fish in the fountain: Gulppy. - If you take a look at the whole stage, you'll see you need to get down into the water to reach the chest. --- How do I get rid of the Goblin on the left side? - Well, not close up. - Did you notice anything when you first clicked on the slide? - That Frog? - Itemize the bugger. - You've just made a Frog Bomb. Toss it into the slide before it explodes. - For good measure, you may wish to follow and itemize the Goblin. --- How do I get rid of the fish? - Well, there are two ways. I'll describe the more obvious one, here, and the alternate way at the end. - What do fish like? - Have you gone around picking up pots? - You'll find a Worm under a random pot on the east side. - Worm? Fishing pole on the west side? Get it, yet? - Use the Worm on the hook and grab the fishing pole. Follow the directions to pull up the fish. - It may take more than one Worm. --- How do I get the key in the well? - You need to raise the water level. - The means is in the water itself. - Swim down and grab the plug. Pull it up to drain the water. - Make sure the fish is gone, first. --- I have the key, but how do I get to the door? - You need to reintroduce water to the area. - Put the plug back in the hole. --- So, what's the other way to get rid of the fish? - Blow it up. - With a Frog Bomb. - What do you mean you can't climb down holding the Bomb? - You'll need to coax the Frog to the lower level. - Do Frogs like Worms at all? - You need to place a Worm somewhere to get the Frog moving. - Somewhere he can see. - Drop the Worm in front of the water slide. - Now that the Frog's down on the lower level, itemize it, then drop it from the diving platform. =================== 4E. Three Colossi = =================== What's the point of this mission? - Not much. It's pretty small. - Naturally, you can't reach the chest from where you are. - Looks like most of your work will be done with the three statues on the back wall. --- What do I do with the center platform? - Looks like you need to build something. - If only you had a model about what to build. - Oh, there it is, above the platform on the back pillar. - Basically, you need to recreate that Snake on the back using the three blocks. - If you get the block upside down as you hold it in your hand, rotate your Wii Remote, then set it down. - Once your little arts project is done, pull the lever. --- What do I do with the crank? - Crank stuff. - Two things, actually. - The other two platforms to either side have gears to crank. --- My crank won't fit! The proper fitting is on the wrong side! - Well then, flip it. - Almost literally. - You don't actually have to flip the Wii Remote completely, just move your Remote almost straight up and Zack should get the idea. - Of course, you have to be in a closeup of one of the gears to do that. --- I turn the crank to raise the chest, but I get squashed by the rock! What can I do? - Note what happened to get the rock rolling at you. - Stepping on that pressure plate in front of the stairs is what started the ball rolling. - How can we get that ball rolling without being there? - Find something else to put on it. - Rotating the crank on the left side releases a Totem Head. - Place the Totem Head on the platform in front of the stairs. - Of course, make sure that the right-hand statue has its left-hand pointed downward, or else the rock rolls immediately. - Then you can move the right-hand totem up to roll the rock and clear the way. ======================== 4F. King of the Jungle = ======================== What's the point of this mission? - Well, your objective should be pretty obvious. - You need to repel that big fella and get to the treasure chest. --- How do I get past the wooden stakes? - The usual way one gets through wood. - To wit, a saw. - Near the beginning of the stage is a Centipede. Itemize him into a Centi-saw and use him on the stakes. --- It's so dark in here! How can I view the central structure in the cave? - Fire good. - Of course, fire burn, so you'll need something to carry it on. - The stakes you just sawed apart should do nicely. - Grab one of the Sticks and stick it in the fire. Hold it for several seconds until it catches. --- The snake totem keeps blowing out my torch! How do I get by it? - Well, you can't destroy it, so the next best thing is to block it. - Preferably with something large enough to cover it. Anything like that around? - One of those two big pots on the ledge high above should do the trick. - Don't worry. The big guy won't bug you if you grab it. Take it down and place it on the totem. You'll have to rotate it, of course. - Alternatively, ring your bell a couple of times while standing next to the totem and the big guy will take care of it, for you. --- What do I do with the puzzle in the cave? - This one shouldn't be too complicated. Don't overthink it. - All you need to do is fit the pieces in the slots. Order doesn't matter. - You will have one piece left over. Don't worry about it. - Rotate the Remote if you need to rotate the pieces. --- Okay, how do I remove the big guy? - There are actually a couple ways to do this. The main way is described here. The alternate way is near the bottom of this section. - He may be strong, but he's still, more or less, a dumb beast. - Most animals are scared of fire. - Make a Torch and run up to the top next to him and he'll be spooked off. --- The big guy is now on the right side of the stage. How do I get to the chest? - Well, not directly. - That stretched rope looks quite promising. - If only you had a hook to grab it. - Have you completed the puzzle in the center of the cave? Go up two entries if you haven't. - Okay, now you can swim up to the right side of the cave. - Of course, a Torch won't work here, since it'll burn out in the water. - Anything else in the cave on this side? - Click on the Bats to get their attention, then ring the bell to turn one into a Batbrella. - Well, there's your hook. - Take the Batbrella to the top level, then use it to get down the rope. - Don't forget you can flip objects in your hand. --- I try to open the chest, but the big guy keeps making me fall! How can I prevent this? - You can't prevent the fall from happening. - However, you can take precautions to survive it. - Grab the Batbrella before you ring the bell near the chest. --- Okay, I'll bite. What's the other way to get rid of the big guy? - Don't scare him off with the Torch. - The big guy reacts to sound. - In every conceivable way. - You're going to itemize him, but how, if he whales on you if you get close? - First, you need to fix it so he's not facing you. - Go to the right side of the stage and ring the bell. - He'll head to the right side. - Of course, don't let him see you, or else he'll get wise. - Ring the bell, and when you hear him moving, head back into the cave. He'll be confused at the situation. - Now get behind him and itemize his hairy butt. - Ring hard, because it takes a few rings, and get close before you start, or else you won't get him in time. ===================== 4G. The Crystal Key = ===================== What's the point of this mission? - The chest is behind a locked door. - As the title suggests, you need a key. --- How do I get a key? - Start playing with stuff. - Like that lever. - One statue flows water, another blasts cold. - This can get you an Ice Bar on the right side. - Certainly, this is not a key. - The left-hand side is promising, though. - But, water doesn't go there. - However, you CAN place the Ice Bar there. --- Wait. How do I make the RIGHT key? - Looks like you'll have to move those blocks to make a proper key. - But which order? - Look at the doors. Use the Camera Shift if you can't see. - Note the colors. - Slide the blocks so that the colors top to bottom match the doors left to right. Then, you can place the Ice Bar. - The proper pattern, top to bottom, is green, dark blue, light blue. --- How can I melt the left-hand side? - Hmmm. You'll need a source of heat. - A big one. - One from jillions of miles away. - See that ray of sunlight? - But how to move it? - Did you ever notice what the round end of the Ice Bar kinda looks like? - Of course, don't use the one that's already sitting there. - Just make another. - Make another Ice Bar, go to the ray of sunlight, then move and rotate it until you focus the point of light on the other Ice Bar until you melt it. - Now you can refreeze it and use it on the door (flip it first). ======================= 4H. Keeper of the Ice = ======================= What's the point of this mission? - To watch out for Jeeves! - Of course, he's guarding the chest, so you'll definitely have to do something about him. --- I keep getting swept up by Jeeves! What can I do to prevent that? - Well, note what he's actually sweeping. - He's sweeping up the footprints in the snow. - So, the most obvious way to avoid him is to be on stone platforms when he comes out to sweep. - Alternatively, check out the trees. - If you shake snow off the trees, it will erase your footprints, and as long as you don't move while Jeeves is sweeping, you'll be fine. --- I poke the switch in the southwest and get frozen! How can I avoid this? - Well, the Stick is a bad idea. - You need something that's both a poker and a shield. - Check the eastern part of the area. - Take the Old Umbrella, open it, then poke the switch. --- What can I do with the Goon? - Well, nothing while he's trapped in that snow. - Once you freeze the water (see above for info on the switch), grab the Snow Shovel in the middle island. - Dig out the Goon. - Now what? He just stands around. - What do we do with enemy creatures? - Ring Wiki. - Goon Totem in hand, you can place it in the circular spot in the southeast. --- How do I get rid of Jeeves? - First, you need the Snow Shovel, and you'll want the Goon in totem form, and placed in the spot in the southeast. See above. - Have you tried to get Jeeves to follow you onto the ice? - Apparently, he's kinda heavy. - Have you tested all the ice yourself? - Well, looks like the bottom part is pretty weak, but how to get him there? - Have you checked out the snow on the top of the platform in the southeast? - Nothing but snow, but shovel it all, anyway. - Now it's on the ice on the bottom. - Walk onto the snow you flung onto the ice to make prints. - It actually works best if you stay on the patch to leave the prints. You'll automatically hop off when Jeeves shows up. ========================== 4I. Icicle of Prosperity = ========================== What's the point of this mission? - The chest is in the ice. - Break the ice. - There are two ways. We'll get to those in a few entires. --- What do I do with the Boar? - You can't itemize him while he's all ticked off. - Maybe if you placed something in his path. - Try itemizing the Goon he's chasing. - Ouch. You can itemize him, now. --- How do I get to the Goon on the left side? - Well, he'll constantly run in that area so he's furthest from you. - You'll need to corner him. - There's a rather obvious spot to hit on the upper floor. - Use something powerful on it (see above). - Use the Boarammer. - Now, run around so the Goon is up against the icicle. - Itemize him. --- What can I do with the Mole? - Mole + Hammer = Fun, naturally. - He's a sly one, though. He won't pop up near holes where you are. - You'll need to block two of the holes. - What could fit in them? - Itemize both Goons (see above) and place them in two of the holes. - BONK!! --- How can I get to the Centipede? - You need to get the Mole first (see above). - The Moldrill actually fits very nicely in that hexagonal gear thing. - Rotate the door to release the Centipede so you can make a Centi-saw. --- How can I get to the Frog? - Well, you can't reach him, so you'll have to move him. - Note the small hole below him. - Could something fit there? - What's a natural enemy of Frogs? - That hole's small enough to fit a Snake. - There's a Snake in the pot near the mole holes. - Itemize the Snake, then normalize it near the hole. It will chase the Frog out. --- All right. I have the Frog, the Boarammer, the Centi-saw, and the Moldrill. Now what? - Time to smash some ice. - There are two ways to do it. - One way is just to smash the ice straight up. - Hit it with everything you've got. - There is a pattern to using some of the items, though. - First drill into it. - Then, try to make the gap bigger. - Hammers are nice, but it helps to have a chisel, too. - There's a small icicle near the bigger one you dropped to the left. - Stick that in the ice (after drilling), then smash it with the hammer for some good damage. - Now, that big round hole could fit something. - Like a Frog Bomb. - All that will cause a lot of damage, so use the rest of the items to finish it up. You can even smack it barehanded if you wish. --- What about that big hanging icicle? - That's the COOL way to break the ice. - The way to break it is actually much the same as directly breaking the ice. - Start with something piercing. - Like the drill. - Then, try to make the gap bigger. - Hammers are nice, but it helps to have a chisel, too. - There's a small icicle near the bigger one you dropped to the left. - Stick that in the ice (after drilling), then smash it with the Boarhammer for some good damage. - Now, that big round hole could fit something. - Like a Frog Bomb. - You've got it hanging by only a bit now. - Use something sharp to finish the job. - Like the Centi-saw. ================== 4J. Frost Breath = ================== What's the point of this mission? - To get Wiki and the chest, natch. - Which can only be done if you take out Chillion. - There are actually three variants of this mission, which require slightly different means to take out Chillion. --- Well, how can I take down Chillion? - Like all good bosses, the means to destroy it are placed right in front of you. - That lever right in front of you looks like a good place to start. - You'll need to do that two more times. --- He's freezing me with his breath! How can I avoid it? - There are places that are shielded from the frost breath. - The cannon stand, for one. - Also, any mirror (not facing to the side) or fallen icicle on the stands will block the breath. --- How do I zap him a second time? (There are no mirrors already in place.) - Well, there's ice blocking your direct path. - Fortunately, that cannon can be rotated. - Time for a good old-fashioned mirror puzzle. - If you watched the last cutscene, you'll notice water fell to your left and right. - There are Ice Mirrors there, now. - Three in total, which you'll need to place to reflect the light to the projector. - Think diagonally. - The proper spots to place them are: third row on the right, facing left, then second row in the middle, facing right, then top row on the right, facing left. Then, rotate the cannon 45 degrees to the right. --- How do I zap him a second time? (There's a mirror already in the third row on the left.) - Well, there's ice blocking your direct path. - You won't need to use the one already in place, just yet. - The proper spots to place them are: bottom row on the right, facing to the upper left, top row on the right, facing to the lower left, then top row in the middle, facing the upper right. Then, rotate the cannon 90 degrees to the right from its origin. --- How do I zap him a second time? (There's a mirror already in the top-left corner.) - Well, there's ice blocking your direct path. - Fortunately, that cannon can be rotated. - Time for a good old-fashioned mirror puzzle. - If you watched the last cutscene, you'll notice water fell to your left. - There are Ice Mirrors there, now. - Two in total, which you'll need to place to reflect the light to the projector. - You won't need to use the one already in place, just yet. - The proper spots to place them are: third row on the left side, facing to the right, and in the top-right corner, pointing left. Then, rotate the cannon 45 degrees to the left from its origin. --- How do I zap him a third time? (There are no mirrors already in place.) - This one's just slightly more complicated. - Fortunately, you now have five mirrors to work with. - The proper spots to place them are: bottom row on the right, facing to the upper left, second row on the right, facing to the lower left, then second row on the left, facing the upper right, then top row on the left, facing to the lower right, then top row in the middle, facing to the upper left. Then, rotate the cannon 90 degrees to the right. --- How do I zap him a third time? (There's a mirror already in the third row on the left.) - This one's a bit more complicated. - You now only have two Ice Mirrors to work with, not counting the one already in place on the left. - However, there is one more mirror. - It's sitting on the right, in a statue's lap. - Of course (if you've figured out the pattern), the place where you need to put that extra mirror has no statue to place on. - Fortunately, you just saw a new statue being made. - Poor Rose will help you out even while frozen. - Place Rose on the left side alcove, then put the Mirror in her hands. - Once that's done, place one Ice Mirror in the third row on the right, facing left, and the second in the second row in the middle facing down, then turn the cannon 45 degrees to the right from its origin. --- How do I zap him a third time? (There's a mirror already in the top-left corner.) - This one's a bit more complicated. - You still only have two Ice Mirrors to work with, not counting the one already in place on the upper-left. - Once that's done, place one Ice Mirror in the middle of the second row, facing up. Leave the upper-right mirror where it is. The cannon should still be pointing 45 degrees to the left, so fire. ==================== 4K. Bridge of Doom = ==================== What's the point of this mission? - There's a big fire surrounding the chest, and you don't have a flute, this time. - You'll have to get rid of it the old-fashioned way. - With a lot of water. - You'll need to fill up that big "bucket statue" near the starting point. --- Is this bridge safe? - Relatively. - You can only cross three times before it collapses, so have a good reason to cross. - It's possible to get "stuck" on this level if you break it too early. --- How can I move the lever? - Notice what happens if you try to pull it. - Does the top of the lever remind you of anything? - Your Control Pad, maybe? - Mimic the series of directions that light up on the lever using your Control Pad, just like Simon Says. --- How do I get rid of the "wall" of fire? - The old-fashioned way. - I'm sure you noticed some water on the way here. - Did you grab the cup nearby? - Dunk the cup into the spring to get some water. - Then dump it on the fire. --- How do I cross the gap with the bouncing fireballs? - Looks like something square-ish will fit in that gap. - Might as well put those loafers to use. - The Goons, I mean. - Itemize a Goon and drop it into the gap. --- What can I do with the hard hat? - Notice how, when Zack picks it up, he doesn't put it on his head. - He's almost holding it like a bowl. - This is a larger container for water. - Fill this with water. You can use it to take care of the other small wall of fire, if you wish. - The real point, though, is to use its water on the big bucket statue in the upper-left corner. --- I've filled the bucket halfway, and the bridge has collapsed. Now what? - You'll need another means to get there with another hat-full of water. - What you need should be obvious, but how to use it may not be. - Have you tried standing on the platform near the lava lift? - You'll need something to hold it down. - Itemize a Goon, then place it on the platform. - Now, you need to remove it to ride up. - Ring Wiki again to normalize it. - I hope you remembered to grab another hat-full of water. >_> ================== 4L. Lake of Fire = ================== What's the point of this mission? - You need to get to the chest, obviously. - The title of the mission should give you a partial clue about how to accomplish that. --- What should I do first? - You want to fill that pit with lava. - That's done from the door at the top. --- Where's the tooth that fits next to the door? The one I have doesn't work! - There are other teeth scattered around. - Smash open some pots. - Don't forget that you can look at your items by clicking on them in the upper-right corner. - Find the tooth that has a triangle on the bottom. Use that. It's in a random spot each time you play. --- Okay. I've dumped the lava into the pit. Now, how do I knock over the water pot to harden it? - You need to roll a big rock through the doors. - Not the one right next to them. - You'll need a small amount of ingenuity to get up to the rock at the top of the level, all involving stuff you've done before. - Like the Goons and the Centipede. - Itemize a Goon, and place it at the spot at the bottom of the "stairs", then itemize the Centipede, climb up the stairs, and saw the log spanning the gap. --- I rolled the rock, but it didn't hit the doors. Now what? - First, start over, because you only get one rock. - You're going to have to prepare the path for it. - First, it needs to cross the gap, which it can't do across one log. - Saw the other nearby log to make a bridge of sorts. - Now, you need to prevent it from rolling off the front of the path. - Itemize the other Goon and place it in its path, then let the rock go. ======================== 4M. Relics of the Past = ======================== What's the point of this mission? - Simply to get to the bottom. - Which, as always, is easier said than done. --- How do I get away from the first mecha? - Just run! - Across the little bridge. --- How do I remove the mecha rubble blocking my path? - Did you try to grab the shiny thing? - Something popped up when you did. - Go up the lava lift to the Snake. - Itemize the Snake and use it to grab the Power Crystal. - Put the Power Crystal in the dormant mecha. - This is pure fun. Hold 1 to dash, and press 2 to pick something up. - Ride the mecha down the lava lift and pick up the rubble. --- How do I work the three little stones into the diagram? - How they match up should be pretty obvious. - Of course, things get complicated when putting one in rotates the other two. - A little forethought and experimentation is required here. - Here's a solution that works quick enough: Put the darker red L in the upper right hole, pointing up and right. Put the cross piece in the left hole, with the lighter portion pointing down. Put the last piece in facing properly. Everything SHOULD line up. --- How do I free the second mecha? - You won't need any special tools, just the point of origin. - Ride up the lava lift nearby. - Grab the chain and pull it. --- How do I get past the bad mecha that runs me off the road? - Note what he rolls over as he comes to you. - Note what that controls. - You'll need to place something on that trapdoor so he gets squashed by it when he rolls over to you. - There's a metal box above the second mecha's garage. - Grab it with the mecha and place it on the trapdoor. Everything should be fine from there. --- How do I get past the lava falls? - By covering your head. - With something decently protective. - Grab the mecha rubble behind you (with the mecha) and carry it through. --- How can I get across the bridge without it crumbling? - By not being so heavy! - Drop the rubble. - And leave the mecha behind. --- How do I avoid the mecha parade at the bottom? - The means should be obvious. - You need to use the console on the left side. - What you need to do is fix it so that the mecha have nowhere to go but down to the lava. - Only one orienation of the top "T" will allow that. - Rotate the top T so that the flat side is facing to the left. - Don't forget to push the button to make the change. - While you're at it, rotate the bottom two so you can walk across them to the chest. =================== 4N. Dragon Scales = =================== What's the point of this mission? - To get the chest out of the dragon bone's claws. - This is a long and difficult mission, requiring a LOT of forethought and doing things in the proper order. - It's quite easy to get to a situation where you'll have to restart, so if I describe something that you no longer have access to, you need to restart. --- Where can I go first? - That ladder is a good place to start. - Climb up the ladder to enter the dragon bones. - Go through to the other end, and pull the lever. - This drops a ramp, making a bridge, but there's nothing important to do on the other side of the ramp, anyway. - Have you tried pushing the lever back? - Pushing the lever back lowers another dragon hand. - Take the claw. --- What can I do with the dragon statue? - Have you found the claw yet? (see above) - Place the claw in the dragon's hinder. - Hot time. Use this fireball flinger to the best of your ability. - Certainly aim the statue at the Spiders to knock them out. - I wouldn't fire that boulder all the way off, though. --- How do I itemize the Spiders? - You can't get close while they're awake. - Have you activated the dragon statue, yet? (see above) - You can get two easily enough with the statue, but the third is out of range. - Have you tried itemizing the Spiders you knocked out? - They make Spidarackets. - Note the lined-off square on the right side. - Point the dragon statue so it's firing in that direction. - Time for some tennis. --- How do I aim the fireballs with the Spidaracket? - It's not easy. - It requires two things: timing and force. - Force is a matter of moving the racket quickly or slowly. There are two degrees of it. - If you're unaware of the physics of timing your swing, swinging early will sent your fireball to the left, swinging late will send it to the right. - For this first time, with your target being the Spider to your left, you'll want to use light force, and swing somewhat early. Keep practicing. --- Okay, three Spiders are out. Now what? How can I get over to the left side? - By flying through the air. - Or more correctly, launching yourself through the air. - You'll need to make a seesaw-type launcher. This is meant to be done on the middle-left side in the foreground. - The Stone Ramp alone won't cut it. You'll need a fulcrum. - Put those lazy Goons to work. - Itemize a Goon and carry it over to the incline in the foreground near the ladder. - You need to drop it down, but make sure you rotate it so it rolls and doesn't bounce off. - Next, the Stone Ramp goes down. - Okay, you've got your launcher. --- How do I plan for using the seesaw launcher? - There's some forethought for this point. - Do you think you're going to need anything on the other side? - Take a close look at the setup over there. - Well, there's another racket square on that side, so you'll need a Spidaracket. - Do you see something else you might need? - How 'bout that circular hole on the wall with lava coming out? - You'll need to get three things over to the other side: yourself, a Spidaracket, and a Goon Totem. --- How do I get the Goon Totem, myself, and the Spidaracket to the left side? - Might as well do it all at once. - Roll the Goon Totem down to the right side of the launcher, and grab a Spidaracket. - Now you just need some applied force to get you all over there. - Have you tried pointing the dragon statue all the way to the left? - It starts hitting the boulder. - Point it to the left, then quickly rush down to the seesaw. You'll automatically launch the totem. Now, just stand on the right side. --- Okay, I'm on the left side. What do I do now? - Is there already a Goon Totem and a Spidaracket on this side? - If not, restart. - You need to get up to that racket square, but how? - Clearly, the lava lift is the answer. - Sadly, it doesn't seem to be getting much force. It looks like most of the lava is flowing out the side. - This is why you brought the Goon Totem. - Use it on the hole, rotating it so you can fit it. - Don't burn yourself. - Now, you can ride up to the racket square. - You need to swing with a good hard force, and early in timing, to hit a fireball into the yellow sphere with the chest. --- I've knocked the chest out of the dragon claw, but how do I get to it? - You don't get to it. - It gets to you. - Notice how it conveniently landed on the seesaw. - You'll need another applied force. - Like that big boulder in the upper-left corner. - Go to the boulder and remove the rock underneath it. ================== 4O. Ancient Wyrm = ================== What's the point of this mission? - To defeat the Swellosaurus, as she is holding the chest you need. - Once again, like all good bosses, the means are spelled out for you. - Right on the tablet near where you start. - The tablet's basically telling you to fill up the water above its head, and extend the hammer so you can smash it. --- How can I avoid getting roasted? - Swellosaurus isn't all that violent. - Unless you annoy her or annoy her kid. - Don't ring the bell unless you absolutely need to, as it will annoy her. --- What can I do with the baby dragon? - Swellosaurus Jr. is a fickle little fellow. - If you tick him off, mom gets ticked off, too, and we don't want that. - There are a few things you can do to quiet him down. - For one, he likes to eat fire. - Take him to one of the little flames lying around and he'll munch on it. - Also, you can try to pet him or rock him like a baby. - This is slightly more difficult, and requires a delicate touch, though. --- How can I fill up the big water crystal? - There are four points at which to do that. - They're the rather obvious water-holding statues. - But how to activate them? - Notice the fire emblem on the front? - A ready source of fire is following you around. - You'll have to tick it off, momentarily, though. - Stand in front of a statue, then tug on the baby dragon's tail. - Do this for all four statues. --- How can I extend the big hammer? - As always, let's put those lazy Goons to work. - The Goons will be itemized into totems and go into three yellow sockets around the area. - One socket's obvious enough. - Another seems to be in the middle of nowhere. - There is a gray socket near the ladder. Try that. - Put a Goon in the gray socket to flip a ramp. Now, you can carry another Goon to the now-open yellow socket. - The third socket is past the uneven pillars. (See below) --- How can I move the uneven pillars? - The switches should be obvious enough. - There are two sets. - One is directly below your starting point (further back from the gray socket) and the other is right next to the pillars. - Basically, you need to play with these pillars to make a servicable path. - The correct answer is: for the first set of switches, you need to be down-middle-down. The second set needs to be middle-up-middle. --- How do I use the hammer to break the water crystal? - First, do you have a full crystal, all four statues used? - Second, is the hammer all the way up, all three Goons used? - Well, you can't climb up to the top, and you can't break it on your own. - You might have to let Swellosaurus do that for you. - Climb up as high as you can and get her attention. - Ring Wiki. - Wait until the camera shifts around, or else she won't fire at the right spot. - Once it does, though, get the heck out of there. =========================== 4P. Operation: Take Back! = =========================== What's the point of this mission? - To get back the map of the next area from Rose and her ilk. - I'll say it now. You can't take on Rose or any of her crew on your own. - That said, this is a sneaking mission. --- How do I get into the ship? - There appear to be two means to enter the ship from the outside. - The door on the side of the bridge, and the hangar door on the top. - With that propeller spinning, the bridge door isn't a good idea. - Hit the lever to open the hangar door. --- How can I proceed through the ship without being captured, initially? - First of all, don't ever press the yellow button on the elevator. - The lowest level seems to be the least guarded. - But it is guarded, and he will wake up if you make noise. - Unfortunately, all the doors make noise. - I'm sure you noticed the railing on the bottom. - Accessing that should be obvious. - Use the bomb-release lever in the first room in the lower level. - Now, you can get up and underneath. - Still, if you hop out right there, he'll get you easily. - First, remove the hatch from the underside. - Now, retrace your steps back to the bombing room, then enter the engine room. That's a Wile E. Coyote move, right there. --- I've made it to the engine room, but there's a guard at the bridge. Now what do I do? - Mess with things. - Specifically, shut off the engine. - Notice what that did outside? - Uh oh, you've got company. - He'll make a beeline right for the engine room. - So take the alternate route back. - Climb down to the railing, wait for him to pass by, then make your way back up to the hangar and outside. - How convenient that the propeller stopped like that. - Cross the propeller to the bridge door. - You've now got the drop on one of the Goons. - Itemize him. --- I've got free reign of the bridge, now, but there's STILL another guard in the next room! Now what? - There's a control in the bridge. - Ah yes, the guns. - Activate it, then go all the way up to the top. - Enjoy the raw power these guns offer you. - Blow up anything that can be blown up. - The vent cover is what's blocking your immediate progress. - I'd suggest also blowing that hangar door. --- All right. I'm in the vents. What can I do here? - Well, there's only one thing to manipulate in here. - That's Mr. Froggy. - First, let's take care of the guard below the fan. - Itemize the Frog, and set the Frog Bomb on the fan. - That's one down, but Rose is still quite alert in her quarters, and you can't fit a Frog Bomb through that small crack of a vent. - Notice how the Frog wants to hop away from you? - Chase him to the crack above Rose's room. - Now, climb out using the hatch leading to the hangar and make a beeline for the map. --- I've got the map, but Rose put the ship on high alert! Now what? - It's time to go. - First, try your best to avoid Rose's pursuit. - Best to get out of sight, in a place they probably wouldn't look. - That would be the railing below the ship. - Once things settle down, you'll have Rose and a Goon in the bombing room, and two Goons in the hangar. - You need to get to the hangar, now. I hope you remembered to blow up the hangar door, or you're stuck. - With Rose where she is, you can double back through her quarters to the elevator and then to the hangar. - The Goon won't see you unless you get too close. - Your escape route is right there. - Hop in the plane. - Turn the starter switch to start her up, then pull on the throttle, and we're out! =========================== 4Q. Bell Tower of Requiem = =========================== What's the point of this mission? - You need to remove that iron-maiden monster in the basement. - This is done with death from above, as we'll get to. --- What's the point of the moonlight? - There are ghosts in this area. - Ghosts are immobilized by moonlight, reduced to simple skulls. - If they're in the dark, though, they're quite formidable. --- How do I get higher than the ground floor? - Your means is right there in the background. - It's that big gear. - The controls are in the basement. - Drop down to the basement and flip the switch twice to the right to reverse the rotation of the gear, then ride up. --- How can I get to the third floor? - There's a pressure plate, here. - But it needs to be held down constantly. - Wait for the moon to shine. - Once the ghost becomes a skull, place it on the plate, then run over to the moving platforms. --- How can I get the key in the fountain? - The key is only tangible when the moon is blocked. - Of course, so are the ghosts. - Sneak by them to the top floor. - See anything to play with up here? - Oh, how about that big-old bell? - Ring the bell using the chain. - This does something funky with the fountain. - Go check out the fountain while the moon is shining. - Well, that was kinda funky. - You'll need to place this Moonstone somewhere. - That cage on the wall should do nicely. - Now you've got a constant source of light. - Once the moon is out, take the skulls of the ghosts and put them near the Moonstone. - Now, you can go back and get the key. --- I've got the key. Now what do I do? - Well, it's rather obvious from here on out. - Unlock the door. - The Frog is in a nice and convenient spot. - Itemize him and place him near the chain. - You rang? ======================== 4R. The Painted Secret = ======================== What's the point of this mission? - You need to make a chest appear in the center of the room. - To do this, you'll need four golden slabs placed in the floor. --- What can I do with the paintings? - The paintings are actually quite interactive. - Some you can grab stuff out of. - Others act like they would if they really existed. - Still others can be manipulated in some way. - For starters, try grabbing. - You can grab two items out of paintings. - You can grab the Broom on the back wall of the lowest floor, and the Golden Faucet on the left side. --- I've got the broom, but what is there to sweep? - The paintings. - Two of them, to be exact. - You can sweep the dust off the door painting to uncover it, and you can sweep the clouds away from the moon in the moon painting. --- How do I unlock the door painting? - With a key. - There should be one somewhere, in one form or another. - There's a key in one of the two ghost paintings in the lower gallery. - I don't think he wants to let it go, though. - Perhaps you could incapacitate him? - Have you swept off the paintings? (see above) - Notice where the moonlight shines. - Place the ghost-with-key painting on the spot where the moonlight shines, and you can get the key. --- How do I get the slab out of the tree painting? - It's caught in the brambles, and they're kind pointy. - Might you have anything to knock it out of there? - Something long and wooden? - Take the broom, flip it over, and knock the slab out of the bramble. It will fall to the lower painting. --- How do I stop that old guy from dropping me to the lower floor? - Notice what he does just before he drops you. - He looks at you. - You'll need to relieve him of his sight. - No. Poking him with the broom isn't it. - But you're on the right track with the broom. - Have you dislodged the slab in the tree painting yet? (see above) - Did something else come out of the painting? - Well, no sense in leaving a mess lying around, right? - Use the broom on the paint to make a paintbrush of sorts. - Now use it on the old guy's eyes. --- I've stopped the old guy, now how do I get back to the lower floor? - On the far left end. - Touch the painting of the hole on the far left and it will drop to the floor. Standing on it will make you fall down to the ground floor. --- How do I get the slab out of the fish painting? - Remove the fish. - No, not by painting on it. - Remember a grabbable item you haven't used yet? - The Golden Faucet? - Stick the faucet into the painting, then turn it to remove the water. - The water's not all out? Well, do you expect it to flow upwards? - Make sure you attach the faucet to the lowest part of the painting to get as much water as you can. - You'll know you succeeded if the fish disappears. --- How do I get the slab to the lower floor? I drop it if I go through the hole! - Make the old man help you. - What, he doesn't want to help you? - Well, then I guess you'll have to do it yourself. - Place the slab on the trapdoor. - Then pull the rope in the old man's painting to drop it. Go through the hole painting afterwards. ==================== 4S. Mirror, Mirror = ==================== What's the point of this mission? - You need to figure out the "secret" of this area. - And use it to get to the chest. --- What's with all these sounds? - Have you found Johnny, yet? - He's behind the curtain on the left. - He'll tell you about how to use your Remote as a phone. - Answer the phone when it rings. - Make sure you listen to the Remote's speaker. Turn it up in the HOME button menu if you can't hear. - The object is to recreate those sounds you heard by touching the appropriate objects. - The following objects generate sound: the chandelier, the roast, the candles, the skull, the window, and the deer trophy. --- How do I get the key on the other side? - The key is only visible as a shadow. - Why don't you join it? - You can hop onto the bed once the curtain's open. - Open the curtain, get on the bed, then close the curtain. Now, you can take the key. --- I want to get back to the other side, but I'm stuck here! - Wait a little while for the phone to ring again. - Then mimic the sounds as you did before. --- How do I get the Mole's attention? - He'll only move for food. - Have you checked the pots on the "other" side? - Take the Worm from under the pot and place it near the Mole's hole. --- Okay, I have the Moldrill. So, now what? - Have you figured out the secret of this area? - Notice how the "mirror you" has no Wiki, and no items? - That's not a mirror. It's a double of you trying to mimic all your moves. - But how to get rid of him? Well, that's where the Moldrill comes in. - Have you checked to see if each side is EXACTLY equivalent? - How about the floors? - There's a weak spot on the floor on the "other" side. - Drill all the way through it. - Now, take advantage of the fact that "mirror you" is required to mimic you. - Go back to the "original" side, and stand where the hole is on the other side. - Now, you can go through the cupboard to the other side. ================= 4T. Mad Science = ================= What's the point of this mission? - This lovely mission teaches you all the fun of chemistry and biology, all in the name of getting the treasure at the end. --- What's the deal with that big machine in the basement? - This is the central point for most of your shenanigans in this mission. - That middle section looks good for putting stuff in. - What stuff? Any old stuff! Experiment! - The dispenser on the left may give you a bit of a hint. - You need to put animals into the machine to get things to happen. - There are two animals that you can get to right away. - There's a Centipede in the tree outside, and a Bat just inside. - Naturally, you have to itemize to carry them around, then normalize them once they're in the machine. - Ice cold refreshing animal juice. --- How do I get the bottle caps off the bottles? - Ever seen an olde time soda pop vending machine with the glass bottles? - They had a metal part for snapping off the cap. - There's one on this machine, too, just to the right of the dispenser. --- Okay, I have three bottles now. What's with the formulas? - It's time for some potion making. - The basic idea is that you'll grab the bottles and dump certain amounts into the beaker on the table. Once it's full, you'll have a potion made. - Just make sure you make the right potion. --- How do I know which bottle goes with which symbol for the formulas? - The symbols appear elsewhere. - On the vending machine. - Each symbol corresponds to a different type of animal, which gives you a different colored bottle. - You've already got orange. The centipede gave you purple, and the bat gave you yellow. - The star-ish shape seems to be bugs, so the purple bottle goes in the second spot on the shelf. - What about the bat? Does it go in the third or fourth spot? - Is a bat a bird or a mammal? - It's a mammal. The yellow bottle goes in the third spot, and the orange bottle stays in the fourth spot (which was apparently some kind of bird). --- So, which potion do I make? - The potion you have all the ingredients for, of course. - That'd be the shrinking potion. - Make sure you have the bottles lined up properly so you don't get confused. - The potion is made from one measure of purple, and two measures each of orange and yellow. --- I've made the potion, but how do I drink it? - Well, you don't drink it, but you do get it on you, somehow. - Notice anything else here that releases liquid? - No, not the pump, but get that going, anyway. You may need it. - Go to the shower on the east side of the basement. - If you use the shower, note where the water's coming from. - That tank near the toilet releases the water. - Climb up onto the toilet and dump the potion in the tank, then use the shower to dump the potion on yourself. --- I made the wrong potion by mistake. How do I get rid of it? - The drain in the shower is more than adequate. - Just make sure you select the drain and not the tank above the shower. --- Yay! I'm shrunk! Now what? - Explore your adjusted surroundings. - Notice how Wiki can't see you anymore. - There are a couple of new places you can fit, now. - Specifically, between the bars on the right side, and into the Snake hole on the left side. --- The Snake keeps eating me! How can I pacify him? - This one's a bit of a bugaboo that stumped me, too, but you need to be big for this. - On the ground outside, uncover the Snake hole. - Then, click on the Snake (you may need to shift the camera using B). - This will get him up out of the hole. - Itemize him from here, and the Slither Gripper will fall back down the hole. - Now, once you're shrunk (see above), you can get the Slither Gripper unopposed. --- How do I get unshrunk? - You need to wash the potion off. - But, you can't reach the shower. - Had you noticed the water pump before? - Pump some water out of it while you're big. If you hadn't done that and already shrunk yourself, you're out of luck and will have to restart. - With water in the basin, you can hop in while shrunk and you'll be restored. --- How do I make the invisibility potion? - You need the Slither Gripper (see two entries above), which you can turn into a Snake in the machine to make the green bottle. - Follow the formula, similar to the shrinking potion. - You did get the potions placed right, didn't you? - The order of bottles should be green, purple, yellow, and orange. - That said, the formula is one measure of green, one of purple, and three of yellow. --- I'm invisible! Now what? - Enemies can't attack what they can't see. - Now you can sneak past that iron maiden monster on the first floor. - Just make sure you're not carrying anything. --- I can't carry anything past the iron maiden monster. How can I get the key out? - You can get rid of they key from where you are. - Have you checked the pipes? - Start twisting the pipes until you find one that comes loose. - Twist the pipe on the far right, then drop the key down the pipe. --- How do I make myself visible again? - Wash the potion off. - In the shower. --- The key is on the other side of the bars! How do I get it out? - You may have to lose some weight. - Meaning, be thin enough to get through the bars. - You have to make the shrinking potion again. - Shrunk, you can carry the key out. Then, restore yourself, and finish the mission. ========================== 4U. Return of the Legend = ========================== What's the point of this mission? - The boss has sucked up the chest. You need to bust it open to reclaim it. --- How do I avoid getting pelted by acid rain? - Did you notice the first thing the boss sent after you? - Turn at least one of the bats into a Batbrella. - Open the Batbrella before the rain falls on you. --- How do I repel the ghosts? - Did you notice the chain in the corner? - You need to pull that chain. - With something helping you. - Either grab and flip a Batbrella, or get a Snake out of one of the pots to make a Slither Gripper. - This releases moonlight, which vaporizes the ghosts. --- How do I avoid being sucked up? - There are three waves of "suck-ups". - Watch closely when the camera focuses on the three. One will do something different. - That's the one who won't suck you up. - Stand in the same colored circle as the one who did something different. - The first time, the safe one will not jump up at all. - The second time, the ghost's head will be in the safe one. - The third (and trickiest) time, two will flash their eyes red, and the safe one will not. - After that, you basically just have to avoid standing in the circle of the active one. --- Now they're just trying to suck me up one at a time. What do I do? - Time to bring the fight to them. - I bet you've noticed that Frog by now. - You need to scare that Frog out of its hidey hole. - Remember Icicle of Prosperity? - Grab a Slither Gripper, drop it near the Frog, then normalize it to get the Frog down to your level. - Now, it's a simple matter of dropping a Frog Bomb in their lit-up circles, avoiding getting sucked up yourself. - You need to go in order: gold, red, blue. --- Yikes! Bad stuff just happened! There's this wall of ghosts after me! - Well, get away from there! - The faster the better. - Hop into the treasure chest on wheels. --- How do I remove the rock blocking my path? - The ammunition is right near you. - Quickly itemize the Frog, and place the Frog Bomb near the rock. --- The ghosts are still chasing me! How do I get them off my tail? - The ghosts should look kinda familiar. - Remember pretty much every chest you've seen? - Remember how you got rid of those ghosts? - Ring Wiki when any ghosts get so close that they start slowing you down. ====================== 4V. The Great Chase! = ====================== What's the point of this mission? - Remove that big squid from your life. - The idea is to use the full force of the ship to your advantage. - You should be efficient and precise in your work, because the ship can only take so much damage before going down. --- The squid is just jumping off in the distance. What can I do? - I suggest a preemptive strike. - Grab the guns, man! - Wait for the squid to leap out of the water before you fire. --- The squid's now under the ship! What can I do? - You have the means. - Head down to the hold. - Note that lever thing in the corner. - That's a torpedo launcher. - Be careful with the timing. Only drop when he's right under you. - If you miss, note the Tuna that flopped onto the deck. - That's your replacement ammo. - Once you itemize it, of course. --- The squid is off to the side, flailing with crew in his arms! What do I do? - You have two options. An obvious one, and a not so obvious one. - The obvious way is to grab the guns and shoot his arms. This is a bit difficult, given the way they move. - The non-obvious way is to wait for him to close in and start slapping the boat. He'll drop his arms with the crew in them on the deck. Of course, the ship will take damage during this time. - Go up to that dropped arm and ring Wiki to release it. - There's a second wave of this, later on. If the squid closes in, he'll rip the gun off its housing. In that case, you'll HAVE to use the non- obvious way. --- I've saved three crew members and the squid is now in front of the boat! What do I do? - I'd hope this would be obvious. - You've got a nice sharp harpoon pointed right at him. - Fire it. --- I've got all the crew back on the ship, but all I got for it was a busted gun and a broken mast! Now what? - That broken mast could be more useful than you think. - You can pick it up (with enough effort). - Place it in the harpoon launcher. - Now, you could fire, but the squid would just dodge again. - Note what one of the crew near the hold is doing. - He's trying to placate the squid with a barrel of fish. - Is there any way you could spike this fish? - Perhaps with something explosive? - Grab a Tunabomb and drop it into the barrel. - Now, all you need to do is give the signal to fire. - Looks like Rose is warming up to you. - Take her scepter and use it on the harpoon launcher. - Give the signal. ===================== 4W. Barbaros's Land = ===================== What's the point of this mission? - Oh, nothing. Just to escape capture, retrieve Wiki, defeat Barbaros, rescue Rose and her crew AND escape into his ship of awesomeness. - This is most definitely the hardest mission in the game, and rightfully so. - Let's take it all one at a time. --- How do I escape from prison? - Well, it can't be as easy as pulling on that chain, could it? - Yikes. - This is one of the few situations, where you'll need to click something while something else is happening. - Note where the camera shifted to. - Click on the grating that you're about to fall past. --- How do I get rid of the pirate mummies? - For the moment, you can't. - Except for one. - There's one you may have a "drop" on. - That's the one patrolling the upper hallway near the cells. - Getting off the elevator will put you above him. - Do you have anything you could use against him? - How about those pots lying around? - Grab a pot, then go to one of the two holes above him. - Drop it down when he's under it to remove him from the equation. --- I've made it to the upper right portion, but the eye keeps knocking me off! How can I avoid this? - You need to blind that eye. - Ever been to the desert? - You need to find some sand. - Or sand-like substance. - There's a statue spilling out gold flakes in the upper-left corner of the area. - Of course, your bare hands are no good at catching that stuff. - There's a cup in the treasure room in the middle floor, just past the cell. - If you're already up top and past it, you can drop back down to your cell using the eye in that room. - Fill the cup with gold flakes. - Now, to get the gold flakes into the eye. - How windy is it out there? - Have you noticed the flag billowing? - Go to the flag and click near the edge. - Wait for the wind to blow in your favor. - As soon as the wind starts blowing from you to the eye, dump the flakes to blind it. --- I finally got a sword! Now, how to do I fight these mummies? - Well, I hope it's not a Gold Sword, or you may be out of luck. - Make sure you get the Steel Sword near the eye in the upper-right corner. (see above) - It's not the easiest thing in the world, but there are a couple of tricks. - For one, there are two "stances". Vertical and horizontal. - A slice in one direction can always be blocked by the opposite stance. - Meaning a vertical slice can be blocked if the sword is held horizontally, and vice versa. - One tactic is to continually block until your adversary gets tired, then cutting him down with three quick swings. - Another (and my favorite) is to hold one position (I prefer vertical). Block if he swings to the side. If he starts to swing vertically, try to quickly counter with a swing of your own. More often than not, he'll be hit. --- How do I use the Frog? - The Frog is pretty much the lynchpin of your whole plan to ruin Barbaros. - But you need to get him into position first. - First, you need to get him out of his little hole. For once, it won't be a Snake that does it (initially, anyway). - Fire is your answer. - First, you need a source of fire. - This will required a sharp eye. - Have you noticed a twinkling skull? - In the upper-left corner is a skull with a twinkle in its eye, literally. - Shake the skull with the eye pointed down to release a Lighter. - Take the Lighter down to the bottom floor. - Use it on the torch near the bridge. - What, the Lighter won't light? Do you even know how to work these things? - How does a real lighter work? Where does your thumb go? - Flip it with the Wii Remote, then press anywhere on the Control Pad to ignite it. Light the torch. - This will move the Frog into position for the Snake. --- How do I use the Snake? - Well, without Wiki, you can't just drop him down the hole as a Gripper, so you'll have to improvise. - First, scare him out of his pot. - Next, you'll need to bonk him on the head so he can't attack you. - Did you see the big rock on the east side? - Drop the rock down the hole, and a piece of rubble will be left over. - You'll need to find a good vantage point to hit the Snake with this. - Take the rubble and walk up the upper-right section all the way to the left-hand pad at the top. - This will put you in a prime position to drop the rubble. - Note the wind, though. - Hold your hand a foot or so to the right, and drop it from there so the wind carries it to the Snake's noggin. - Now, drop the pot down the hole. - If the Frog's already there, the Frog will be moved into position. --- How do I get to the little boat on the far right? - First, you have to just get to that ledge where it's connected to. - Maybe a rope would help. - See that rope above the ledge? - How to get it down there, though. - Take the Steel Sword and cut the rope, which drapes it down to the ledge with the boat. - Now, the boat's at the end of a tight rope. - How would you get across without falling? - Have you ever seen a highwire act? Do they use any kind of tools? - You need a pole. - Remember the flag up by where you dropped the golden flakes? - Take the flagpole and bring it to the boat. Carefully balance your way across. - Now that you're here, you need to get the boat itself back to the other side. - Grab the fan. - Swing the fan for all your worth. If you're lucky, you'll get enough force to knock all the stuff off it to the lower ground. If not, then just grab what you need and go. - I suggest taking the Treasure Bell. Drop it in front of the torch and rope on the bottom floor. --- How do I get rid of Barbaros? - Well, a frontal assault seems unwise, as he keeps sending mummies after you no matter how many you destroy. - This may require a bit of subtlety. - Have you moved the Frog into position in his room? Have you moved the little treasure boat all the way to the left? (see above entires) - If only you could ring Wiki to turn that Frog into a Frog Bomb. - Well, if YOU can't ring Wiki. - Once a Frog is in position, why don't you try beating a mummy? - Once he tries to send another one out... - Well, he's coming right for you. Is this what you wanted? - There has to be some way to stop him. - Time for a little slapstick. - Grab the rope below the torch and yank on it as he crosses. - Of course, all that will do is tick him off. You need to trick him. - Notice that he dropped Wiki when he fell? - Hmm, anything you could substitute to make him THINK he found Wiki? - The Treasure Bell from the ship will fit that bill. In that vein, before you get him to set off the Frog Bomb, place the Treasure Bell in that area. - Once he grabs the wrong bell, grab the right one. - You should know what to do. - Don't listen to his protests. Just ring. --- How do I free Rose and her crew? - Roughly the same way you got yourself out. - You can't reach the chain from outside, though. - You'll need to get to the Snake. - But you need a totem. - There's a fallen mummy by the elevator. - Itemize him into a totem and place him in the socket, then itemize the Snake into a Slither Gripper. - Still, is it really wise to drop Rose and her crew onto the spikes? - If only there was a way you could protect them from the fall. - Maybe give them some sort of "armor". - Or turn them into armor. - Ring the bell near Rose and her crew to turn them all into totems, then drop them by pulling the chain with the Slither Gripper. --- How do I get out of here? - You need to free Wiki and Rose's crew. - Have you examined the big barrel near the elevator? - Johnny's ready to get you all out. - Once you have everyone together at the bottom and in the barrel, flip the switch. ====================================== 4X. Barbaros's Land - Final Battle - = ====================================== What's the point of this mission? - To finish Barbaros and his Gigaros mecha once and for all. - Basically, simliar to The Great Chase, this is a measure of reacting to stuff that Barbaros does with what you have at hand. --- Barbaros just fired four rockets at me! How can I get rid of them? - Respond in kind. - You've found the controls for the ship's weapons, right? - On the back wall is the console that basically "moves" you outside. - Here, you can use the ship's robotic arm to defend yourselves. - Anything promising at hand? - Grab the main gun and start shooting at the rockets. - Aim carefully. You only have so many shots. --- I've run out of ammo! How can I defend myself, now? - This can happen at several points in the fight, depending on when you run out. - If you step away from the controls, note the cylindrical shape of the cannon hatch. - Anything cylindrical lying around? - Once again, put those lazy Goons to work. - Itemize the Goons, and load them into the cannon. - Once you fire them, they automatically come back, but you'll still have to load them manually. --- Barbaros sent a whole bunch of rockets after me! How can I shoot all those down? - Well, you just received a hint, didn't you? - A new weapon just popped up. - Grab the big bell on the left side of the screen. - Ring it once the rockets get close. --- Barbaros is smashing me with his robot fists! How do I stop that? - With your bare hands. - Bare robotic hand, anyway. - Click in any area to put up a force field with the robotic hand. - Watch for the crosshair to see where the fist lands. - However, it's unwise to try to block directly on the crosshair. It's better to place your hand a bit before it so you intercept the fist as it flies towards you. - Don't worry about throwing it back. Just toss it and he'll catch it. --- He's using both fists, now! How can I block them both? - Well, you can't, with one hand. - So you'll have to put one hand out of commission. - Johnny just brought up a new weapon for you, on the right. - Grab the anchor. - This is a rather difficult thing to work. You have to spin it around, then point at the screen, or perhaps press A to throw it. I'm unsure at the moment. - If you get a good throw out, you'll successfully disable one arm. - Now, stop the other one as normal. - Send it back when the opportunity arises. --- He's firing at me from his chest. How can I stop that? - Shoot at the source of the problem. - Have you started loading up Goons, yet? (see above about four entries) - Notice how the four guns have circular openings? - And that you have four Goons? - Shoot the Goons into each of gun openings. --- All right. He's just a head now, but he's firing this giant beam at me! - He's now in range of a certain weapon. - You need to jam something in his mouth. - Something sharp. - Reel in the anchor. - Toss it into his mouth just as you tossed it before. - Now, reel him in. --- He's even closer, now, but it doesn't seem to have stopped him much. What can I do? - Have you tried firing at him in certain spots? - How about his hat? - Shooting at the hat only knocks it off for a second, but the hat is the right idea. - Why don't you just yank it off? - The direct approach works best. - Simply use the hand on the hat to pull it off. --- All right, there's no hat and he's exposed, but he's STILL firing that big beam. Now what? - Time for another direct approach. - Your most obvious offensive weapon works fine, here. - Fire the gun at Barbaros, himself. - He's dizzy, but not defeated. - With him being this close and exposed, he's now vulnerable to the weapon he most fears. - Grab the bell. - While you're not "done" per se, the story pretty much takes over at this point, so congrats on beating the game. ^_^ Here's a little white space to try to separate spoilers. ****************************************************************************** 5. STEP-BY-STEP WALKTHROUGHS ****************************************************************************** I really suggest going to the hint-throughs first, if you're stuck, because half the fun of this game is trying to figure out how to win. Of course, I also have the means to get high scores in this section, so if you're interested in that, then by all means, read on. If I have a question mark (?) next to the Max Score for an area, it means that it's the highest I've got, but I'm unsure if it's the actual peak. If there's no question mark, it means I'm pretty sure it's the max, but I could still be wrong. ======================= 5A. A Journey Begins! = ======================= HirameQ Rating - *......... Items - Old Umbrella, Centi-saw Contraptions - Lever, Tree Creatures - Centipede Hazards - Falling, Wrecked Plane Walkthrough - Wiki and Johnny pretty much walk you through this, but I'll cover it, anyway. First, click on Johnny once you get control, then use B to look all around the ship, then click the Camera Icon. The next cutscene will start. Grab the lever to open the back hatch and you'll both tumble out. Now, as you fall, look for an Old Umbrella. Follow Wiki's instructions, and you'll eventually hit a tree. Shake the Wii Remote to fall out of it. Now, shake the tree to scare out a Centipede. Ring Wiki near the Centipede to itemize it into a Centi-saw. Use the Centi-saw as you would a real saw on the tree to cut it down. Now, you can cross to the treasure chest. Ring Wiki next to the chest and you'll get your first treasure. Items - Totem Head, Slither Gripper, Ruins Key Contraptions - Tree, Pull Chain Creatures - Snake Hazards - Spike Pit Other Points of Interest - Lucky Bird Walkthrough - The chest is behind the door, and you need to unlock it. Go up the stairs to the top and you'll see the Key attached to the pillar. Go to the far right and pick up the pot. A Snake will jump out of it. Itemize the Snake and you'll get a Slither Gripper. Use it on the Key. Tug hard and you'll snap it off its line. Now, take the Key to the door and twist it in the lock to open it. Inside, you may want to just walk across, but Johnny will stop you, suggesting you look ahead before walking into trouble. There's a spike pit in the middle of the room, under the weak floor. What you need to do is go back up and grab the Slither Gripper, then use it on the pull chain inside the temple. After all that mess, you can ring Wiki next to the chest to dispel the ghost, and grab the treasure. Follow the directions to move when the Goblins are praying and stop while they're dancing. You'll hop off in the middle, but get back on and go to the right side. Shake any of the trees to drop a Coconut, then take it back to the other side of the gondola. Lift the rock covering the Snake hole (shake the Wii Remote to lift hard), then drop the Coconut down the hole to make the Snake mad. Now, take a Sleeping Mushroom and head down the vine. Drop the mushroom into the pot. Itemize the Snake to make a Slither Gripper, then use it to grab the Iron Ladle on the rack. Use the Iron Ladle to bang the gong, then quickly head back up the vine. Now, grab the Flute that the Chief dropped and go to the pillar. Click on the carving and follow the directions to play the flute, from top to bottom. In order to properly play the notes, you have to press all the appropriate buttons on each carving at the same time. Once you get all four notes, the fire around the chest goes away, and you can go back to the gondola to get to the treasure. The Fountain Guardian = =========================== HirameQ Rating - ***....... Items - Worm, Worm Straw, Frog Bomb, Growlin' Goblin Totem, Ruins Key, Spring Plug Contraptions - Fishing Pole Creatures - Frog, Growlin' Goblin, Gulppy Other Points of Interest - Lucky Bird, Bonelich Walkthrough - Start by climbing up the vine and examining the water slide. You don't want to go down, yet, but examining will release a Frog behind you. Your objective is to get rid of the fish, and there are two ways to do this. Method 1: Itemize the Frog to make a Frog Bomb, then toss it into the water slide. Now, pick up all the rocks until you find the Worm, then take it down the slide with you, and use it on the fishing pole. Use the pole to catch the fish, by basically tugging on the line after it bites when it says move, and not when it says stop. It may take more than one Worm. Method 2: Pick up all the pots and rocks until you find the Worm, then take it to the water slide and place it at the top. The Frog will slide down the slide to the lower level. Itemize the Frog into a Frog Bomb, then toss it off the diving platform into the water. With the fish gone, you're free to swim into the water, and pull up the Spring Plug, which will raise the water in the lower right area, allowing you to grab the Ruins Key from the well. Now, head back into the water and return the plug so the place fills with water again, then swim down and left to reach the door. Unlock it and take the treasure. Three Colossi = =================== HirameQ Rating - ****...... Items - Crank Handle, Totem Head Contraptions - Snake Puzzle Hazards - Rolling Rock Walkthrough - In this little area, you'll need to simply get the chest in range, and not get squished by a huge rolling rock. Start by going to the middle of the three platforms in front of you. Using the sparkling model on the back wall of the snake, construct the puzzle using the three blocks. If you need to, you can rotate your Wii Remote to rotate Zack's hand, which will allow you to place the blocks flipped. Once all pieces are together, pull the lever and you'll get the Crank. Take the Crank to the left-hand platform. Now, it won't fit in that one, so you'll have to flip the Crank in your hand. To do this, rotate the Wii Remote upwards so that it's almost pointing back, then you can stick the Crank in and turn it, which will release a Totem Head. Take this Totem Head, and place it at the bottom of the stairs, on the pressure plate. Now, flip the Crank again and use it on the right-hand panel. This will start a chain reaction that will basically leave you unharmed, and in range of the chest, so take the treasure. Score Breakdown - 50000 - Solve Snake Puzzle in one try 30000 - Flip Crank Handle and insert into left-hand gear 20000 - Turn left-hand gear, releasing Totem Head 10000 - Place Totem Head in pressure plate at the bottom of the stairs 20000 - Flip Crank Handle and insert into right-hand gear 30000 - Turn right-hand gear and successfully release treasure chest Max Score - 160000 ======================== 5F. King of the Jungle = ======================== HirameQ Rating - ******.... Items - Centi-saw, Stick, Torch, Scale Vase, Batbrella Contraptions - Wind Totem, Water Puzzle Creatures - Centipede, Bat, King Growl Hazards - Falling Walkthrough - The chest may be just lying around, but King Growl is guarding it from you. You'll need to get rid of him to get the treasure. First, go to the left, and you'll scare up a Centipede. Itemize him, then take the Centi- saw to the wooden stakes blocking the way in. Saw each of them to open the way into the cave. Now, you'll need to get some light in the cave, but the Wind Totem by the doorway will blow out any fire you carry there. You can either go up to the top and grab the Scale Vase, and place it on the totem, or just ring the bell a couple of times and King Growl will do that for you. Now, you can grab one of the Sticks lying by the doorway and bring it over to the fire. Stick it into create a Torch. Carry that Torch inside, then place it in the middle area, in the torch holder. This puzzle is relatively simple. What you need to do is place three stones in the right spots to release the water. Rotate the Wii Remote if you need to rotate the pieces so they fit. Once all three are in, water will flow into the lower area. You can now use it to swim to the next cavern, where you'll find some Bats. Click on them to get their attention, then itemize them to turn them into Batbrellas. Now, there are two ways to get rid of King Growl, the obvious way and the non-obvious way. Obvious Way: Make another Torch, then go up to the top and go up to King Growl. He'll be scared off to the right side. Grab a Batbrella, and go back up to the top, to the right side. Flip the Batbrella in your hands (point the Wii remote almost backwards), then use the hook to slide across to the other side on the rope. Grab the Batbrella off the rope, then try to ring Wiki to open the chest. As you fall, open the Batbrella, then you can grab the chest when you land. Non-obvious Way: Go out the right side of the cave and ring Wiki. Before King Growl shows up on the right ledge, duck back into the cavern. Growl will stay there, allowing you to get close behind him. Ring Wiki several times to itemize him, which allows you to get the treasure. Items - Ice Bar, Ice Key Contraptions - Lever, Key Blocks Walkthrough - In this small level, you'll basically need to make an Ice Key to unlock the doors. Pull the lever in the middle twice, and take the Ice Bar from the right side. Now, go to the left side trough and arrange the blocks in the following order: from top to bottom, green, dark blue, light blue. Place the Ice Bar in the left-side trough. Now, pull the lever twice more, making another Ice Bar. Take that Ice Bar and go to the ray of sunlight shining on the left-side. Using the round end of the bar, focus the beam of light onto the Ice Bar in the trough to melt it, then flip the lever once more to freeze the Ice Key. Take it and go to the door. Keeper of the Ice = ======================= HirameQ Rating - ****...... Items - Stick, Old Umbrella, Snow Shovel, Goon Totem Contraptions - Snowy Tree, Ice Switch Creatures - Jeeves, Goon Other Points of Interest - Lucky Bird Walkthrough - As soon as you step onto the snow, you'll see your main problem is Jeeves, the stone guardian. His task is to sweep up all footprints, and if he catches you at the end of that sweeping, he'll knock you out good. There are a couple ways to avoid him. You can wait on stone platforms or ice, which won't leave footprints, and therefore won't attract Jeeves, or you could go to any of the trees. Shake them to drop snow in the immediate area, which will remove your prints. Just don't move while he's moving. Okay, so you've got a switch right near you. This shoots a big ice jet, but it'll get you if you're not protected, so head to the easter end to find an Old Umbrella leaning against a tree. Take it, open it with 2, then use it to poke the switch. The water will now all be frozen. Head now to the frozen area in the middle. Take the Snow Shovel in the middle. Jeeves may try to follow you on the ice, but it will partially break when he steps on it. If that's the case, you'll have to go around southeast to get back to the Goon who's covered in snow. Dig him out, then itemize him. He'll turn into a "Goon Totem", which you can take to the southeast corner. Place it on the circular indentation, and you'll be able to climb up the ladder. Take the Snow Shovel up and shovel all the snow off the top onto the ice. Go onto the ice and stand on the snow you've thrown to make prints there. You can stay standing there as Jeeves comes, because you'll automatically move so he'll fall through the ice. Now, you can take the treasure. Icicle of Prosperity = ========================== HirameQ Rating - ****...... Items - Goon Totem, Boarammer, Icicle, Slither Gripper, Moldrill, Centi-saw, Frog Bomb, Batbrella Contraptions - Gear Door Creatures - Goon, Boar, Snake, Mole, Centipede, Frog, Bat Other Points of Interest - Bonelich Walkthrough - I don't know if you noticed, but there are a ton of different items to play with here, and they're all in place so that you can get rid of the big block of ice in the center. There are two ways to remove that ice. The direct way and the indirect way. First, let's collect all the items. Go down to the bottom floor and itemize the Goon that the Boar is chasing around so the Boar crashes into it. Itemize the Boar, now. Take the Boarammer and head to the left. Climb the ladder on the right side. Smash the icicle from above with the Boarammer so it drops and blocks the Goon's path when he tries to run away from you. Head down the left-hand ladder and itemize him. Now, place both Goon Totems in any two of the three holes in the lower-left. Take the Boarammer to the remaining hole and bop the Mole when he comes out. Itemize him for the Moldrill. Take the Moldrill to the right side gear door and use it on the hexagonal hole. Rotate it so the Centipede is free, then itemize it. Now, go back to the Mole hole area, pick up the pot to release the Snake, then itemize it to get a Slither Gripper. Carry it over to below the Frog, then normalize it. The Snake will scare the Frog to a more manageable location. Okay. We're ready to break some ice. Direct Way: The block of ice has a "life meter", and all your items can cause damage to it. Here's the breakdown of what each item does: Fist - 1 Super Fist (use fist several times) - 30 Batbrella - 5 Boarammer - 10 Centi-saw - 20 (total of 1200 for each side) Moldrill - 50 (maximum of 1600) Icicle, then Boarammer - 1000 (twice) Frog Bomb - 3000 So, start by drilling into it, then get the small icicle (which is right near the bigger one you knocked down to block the Goon) and jam it in the hole. Use the Boarammer on the icicle to cause good damage, the place the Frog Bomb in that hole. From there, you can use the Centi-saw on each side, then use Boarammer the rest of the way. The ice will eventually break and you can take the treasure. Indirect Way: You're going to bring that big icicle down on the ice block. Start by drilling into it, then get the small icicle (which is right near the bigger one you knocked down to block the Goon) and jam it in the hole. Use the Boarammer on the icicle to cause good damage, the place the Frog Bomb in that hole. From there, you can use the Centi-saw to finsih off the big icicle and drop it on the block. Take the treasure. Frost Breath = ================== HirameQ Rating - *****..... Items - Ice Mirror, Idol Mirror, Captain Rose Contraptions - Light Cannon Creatures - Chillion Walkthrough - I'll say it right now. There are three variations of this level, and it's random which one you get. Depending on the variation, you'll have to beat the mission slightly differently, but the main concept remains the same. In all variations, if ever Chillion prepares to breathe frost at you, either stand behind the cannon or behind any mirrors or icicles that are already in place. The exception to that is if a mirror is facing to its side, presenting the smallest profile and not blocking the breath at all. Variation 1 - *No mirrors are already in place.* Pull the lever to fire the cannon at Chillion. You need to hit him twice more, and the direct path is blocked. Fortunately, to your left and right are a total of three Ice Mirrors made from the statues. Place one mirror in the third-row right side, facing west, one in the second-row middle, facing east, and one in the top-row right side, facing west. Use the cannon itself to turn it 45 degrees to the right and fire it. Next, you'll have five mirrors to work with. Put one in the lower-right corner facing northwest, then one in the second-row right side, facing southwest, then a third in the second-row left side, facing northeast, then a fourth in the upper-left corner, facing southeast, then the last one just below the cannon facing northwest. Turn the cannon to 90 degrees to the right and fire it. This will finish Chillion and you can take the treasure. Variation 2 - *A mirror is already in place on the third-row left side.* Pull the lever to fire the cannon at Chillion. You need to hit him twice more, and the direct path is blocked. Fortunately, to your left and right are a total of three Ice Mirrors made from the statues. Place one mirror in the lower-right corner facing northwest, then one in the top-row right side, facing southwest, then the third just below the cannon facing northeast. Turn the cannon to 90 degrees to the right and fire it. Next, you'll have an interesting situation, and only two Ice Mirrors to work with. First, place on Ice Mirror in the third-row right side, facing west, and the second Ice Mirror in the second-row middle, facing south. Now, take Rose's frozen form and place it in the statue alcove on the west side of the area. Then, go across to the right side, grab the Idol Mirror that's just laying in the statue's hands, and place it in Rose's hands. Turn the cannon so it's 45 degrees to the right and fire it. This will finish Chillion and you can take the treasure. Variation 3 - *A mirror is already in place in the top-left corner.* Pull the lever to fire the cannon at Chillion. You need to hit him twice more, and the direct path is blocked. Fortunately, to your left are two Ice Mirrors made from the statue. Place one in the third-row left side, facing to the right, and another in the top-right corner, facing left. Turn the cannon 45 degrees to the left and fire it. Next, you'll again have two Ice Mirrors to work with (a new one was made off to your right), as well as a little extra. Take Rose's frozen form and place it in the statue alcove on the west side of the area. Then, go across to the right side, grab the Idol Mirror that's just laying in the statue's hands, and place it in Rose's hands. You can leave the upper-right mirror as it is, and place the last mirror in the middle of the second row, facing up. Fire the cannon again. This will finish Chillion and you can take the treasure. Score Breakdown - Variation 1 25000 - Fire the first beam at Chillion 75000 - Fire the second beam at Chillion 100000 - Fire the final beam at Chillion Variations 2 & 3 25000 - Fire the first beam at Chillion 50000 - Fire the second beam at Chillion 15000 - Place the frozen Rose in the alcove 10000 - Place an Idol Mirror in Rose's hands 100000 - Fire the final beam at Chillion Max Score - 200000 ==================== 5K. Bridge of Doom = ==================== HirameQ Rating - *****..... Items - Antique Goblet, Hard Hat, Goon Totem Contraptions - Control Lever Creatures - Goon Hazards - Fire, Fireball, Crumbling Bridge Walkthrough - Your objective here is to fill the nearby bucket statue with water so it can be dumped on the fire blocking your access to the chest. First, walk across the bridge. Note that you can only do that three times before it crumbles, so make the trips count. On the right side, grab the Golden Cup and dunk it into the water. Head down the stairs. Try the lever here. Note the pattern that just popped up. Mimic that pattern on your Control Pad. This will allow you to use the lever to switch the stairs, so head down them, now. Dump your water on the little wall of fire to your right. This will allow you to get the Hard Hat. Take it up to the fountain in the upper right and fill it. Now, take that to the left and dump it in the bucket statue to fill it halfway. Head back to the other side. Bye bye, bridge. Now, head back downstairs. Ring Wiki near one of the Goons to turn him into a Totem, then place it in the gap where the fireballs are jumping up. Get some more water in the Hard Hat and use it on the little wall of fire, which will allow you access to the lava lift from the bottom. Go back and get the Goon into a Totem, and carry him onto the switch next to the lava lift, which will lower it. Fill the Hard Hat with water from the spring down here, then get on the lava lift and ring Wiki to normalize the Goon. Lake of Fire = ================== HirameQ Rating - *****..... Items - Goon Totem, Fang Piece, Centi-saw Contraptions - Rolling Rock Creatures - Goon, Centipede Hazards - Lava Other Points of Interest - Lucky Bird Walkthrough - Well, the point of this mission is to get that treasure chest down to a manageable position. Given the title, "Lake of Fire", you'll probably need to fill that spiky pit with lava at some point. Explore the area. Take note of the three stone doors and the big water pot. Also, the big boulder held up by a log. Up the ramp, you'll basically be at the "main ledge" where most of the objects in this level are. There are a couple of Goons lying around, as well as a Centipede off to the west. One of the Goons is lying next to a "Fang Piece". This is basically an object that goes in the door at the top (cross the bridge and go down the stairs, so you can climb up the central stairs). Now, there are three Fang Pieces lying around (some are in pots), and only one will fit in the triangular hole. To see which Piece is which, go to the "item view" (click on it in the upper-right corner) and rotate the fang to see the bottom. Once you have the triangle one, slap it into its base near the door. This releases the lava. You have a lake full of lava and a chest in the middle of it, but you left your fire-proof shoes at home, so you'll need to cool off the lava. That water pot positioned right near it is perfect for the job, but you'll need to get through those stone doors to knock it over. The boulder perched near it is the obvious choice to saw down using the Centi-saw, but it doesn't have enough momentum. You'll need one higher up. Turn either of the Goons into a Goon Totem. There are several spots to place a Totem, but if you're trying to get higher up, there's only one obvious spot, and that's on the right in front of the stairs. When that's in place, grab the Centi-saw and hop up. Saw the log to your left and cross it. Here's the boulder you need, but you need to prepare the path for it to roll properly. First, saw down the other log on this side of the gap to make a bridge, then follow the trail the boulder will roll, and place a Goon Totem in the spot that sits in the path. Now, when you saw the log holding the boulder, it should roll around and right into the stone doors, knocking over the water pot, allowing you to take the chest. Score Breakdown - 2500 - Itemize a Goon 2500 - Itemize the other Goon 2500 - Itemize the Centipede 7500 - Talk to Johnny before breaking any pots 45000 - Place triangular Fang Piece (must not try any others first, you can pick up any ones you want, just look first, and don't try them) 10000 - Saw one of the logs spanning the gap 10000 - Saw the other log spanning the gap 10000 - Roll the rock at the top of the area 100000 - Dump the giant pot of water on the lava pit 10000 - Roll the rock at the bottom of the area Max Score - 200000 ======================== 5M. Relics of the Past = ======================== HirameQ Rating - ****...... Items - Slither Gripper, Power Crystal Contraptions - Orion Walker (Transport), Lava Flow Regulator, Pull Chain, Bridge Rotator Creatures - Snake, Orion Walker (Combat) Hazards - Crumbling Bridge, Lava Falls Other Points of Interest - Bonelich Walkthrough - I love the Orion Walkers. First, head down the path. The evil Walker will start coming after you, but hurry across the bridge and you'll find that it won't support your weight. Remember that. Continue on, past the other Walker, and down the lava lift, and you'll find that the Walker's rubble fell in a bad spot. Take a look at that crystal (you need to do this) and a Snake will pop up back up a ledge. Ride up the lava lift and itemize the Snake. Use the Slither Gripper on the rubble to grab the crystal. Take the Power Crystal up the lava lift and hop on the Walker up here. Insert the crystal and you'll take control of the Walker. Walker controls are pretty simple. Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Use the Control Pad to move it, hold 1 to dash, and press 2 to grab stuff. Ride down the lava lift and use the grab to pick up the rubble. Sadly, that's all you'll need of this Walker, so hop off and head up the ladder at the far end. Hang on to the Power Crystal, though. You'll need it through most of the mission. This console here controls lava flow, and will activate the nearby lava lift. To get it working, you need to place the three stones in the right spots, and at the right angle. Seems simple, until you realize that placing a stone rotates the others already in place. So, you can either plan ahead and work it out, or I could just tell you my method: Put the darker red L in the upper right hole, pointing up and right. Put the cross piece in the left hole, with the lighter portion pointing down. Put the last piece in facing properly. Everything SHOULD line up. Ride the new lava lift down. Bonelich is right here, but you won't be able to call him unless you've upgraded Wiki to at least red. Anyway, you'll see a "garage" type structure with another Orion Walker in it. Ride the lava lift up to the top of it and grab the chain that controls the door. Pull it three times to open it. Now, go down and put the Power Crystal in the Walker. You COULD go down the next lava lift, now, but there's an evil Walker that's ready to push you off the trail. One thing is that when the Walker comes after you, he rolls over a button that controls the trap door above him. Ride up the lava lift to above the garage, and grab the big metal box. Place it on the trap door, THEN you can ride down the lift, where the Walker will get crushed. Okay, next is to go around this track, but you've got some nasty lava falls ready to scorch you. To block these, grab the new Walker rubble with your Walker, and carry it under the falls to make it safely. Once past two of them, you'll come to a curved bridge. Remember earlier? A Walker can't make it over the bridge, so you'll have to drop the rubble and get off the Walker. Just make sure you give yourself room to dismount. Cross the bridge and go down the lava lift. Proceed down these odd-looking ramps. Once you reach the end, a door will open, and a bunch of Walkers will come down following you. The trick now is to use the console right near you to rotate these T-shaped bridges so that the Walkers fall into the hot stuff. All you really need to do is rotate the top one so it's flat side is to the left, then push the button to rotate it, then the Walkers will roll straight ahead over the hole and down. Of course, on the same turn, you can also rotate the bottom two so their flat sides are up, fixing the whole thing in one swoop. Cross your newly-made bridge to the chest and take the treasure. Score Breakdown - 5000 - Escape the first Walker across the bridge 2500 - Itemize the Snake 5000 - Grab the Power Crystal with the Slither Gripper 2500 - Use the Power Crystal on a Walker 10000 - Remove the Walker rubble in your way 25000 - Place all three stones on the Lava Regulator the right way in one attempt 5000 - Open the door to the Walker garage 5000 - Pick up the big metal box with a Walker 5000 - Place the big metal box on the trap door 25000 - Drop the metal box on the combat Walker 5000 - Pick up the Walker rubble 5000 - Cross the second bridge without a Walker 65000 - Rotate all three T-bridges at once so that the top one has the flat side to the left, and the bottom two have the flat side up. Items - Giant Slab, Dragon's Claw, Spidaracket, Goon Totem Contraptions - Dragon Statue Creatures - Spider, Goon Hazards - Rolling Rock Walkthrough - This is a nice and hard one. It requires a lot of ingenuity and forethought. There are several ways to fix yourself so you can't finish the mission, so read carefully my directions if you want to get through without having to restart. Start by heading to the ladder. Climb up into the dragon bones and head through the tunnel to the lever. Pull it, and the dragon bones will shift, dropping the Giant Slab across the expanse. Now, you can pick this up, but let's save it for the moment. Pull the lever again and the bones will shift back. Now, head back out the ladder, cross the slab, then go into the lower-right corner. Tug the Dragon's Claw free from the hand. Take the Dragon's Claw to the Dragon Statue in the middle of the room. Now, this statue will shoot fireballs as long as the claw's in it. You can use the claw to rotate it. Start by shooting the two Spiders across from you. Next, point the statue all the way to the right, so it's shooting across that square on the ground. Go over to a Spider and itemize it to create a Spidaracket. Tennis, anyone? Head to the lined-off square and you'll take a stance. You now need to knock the fireball into the Spider in the left side of your field of vision. You can hit the balls hard or soft, early, on time, or late. What you need
