Copyright and Contact Information --------------- 1. Introduction --------------- Once upon a time, in a distant land, great warriors assembled to reach a common goal: the unification of China. These brave warriors fought many battles, each for his or her beliefs. The time period would later be called the Three Kingdoms Era and the tales of these battles would be recorded in a book called The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It is this time period that the game Dynasty Warriors 5 is about. ------------------- 1a. Version History ------------------- Version 1.0: Guide started and initially created. Version 1.1: Updated Zhen Ji's weapon, Sun Jian's weapon, and lots of the names for the Wu kingdom's weapons. Also started on the Stages part of the FAQ. It's only incomplete because my computer crashed completely and I had to get a new hard drive installed. I can't find my Microsoft Office CD, but once I do, I should finish the stages and deem this guide complete. I might just complete the guide with WordPad. It seems alright enough...just lacks a spellchecker. While I don't make that many spelling mistakes, I am only human after all. Version 1.2: Updated the Tribal Remedy, worked on the stages more, deleted the numbers at the top that I forgot to the last time...meh... Version 1.3: Added some more general tips, worked on the stages section more (now called Stage Walkthroughs), and added my first FAQ. I also gave permission for another website to use my guide. Finally, I know I changed something else, but I forgot what it was. If I remember, I'll put it down here. If not, just think of it as a scavenger hunt to figure out what I changed. Version 1.4: Closer to getting that complete status. Added some requirements to Cao Pi's and Lu Meng's fourth weapons. More stages done. Finally past 200 A.D.! Odds are, the last of the fourth weapons will get done after Version 2.0. I already put the requirements for them and some general tips, but my special detailed walkthroughs will come after the stages section is complete. Version 2.0: I hereby declare my guide as complete. There are a few things I have to spruce up, as well as make my guide look nicer. The bodyguard section needs to be updated and a few of the fourth weapons needs to be updated, but as far as information goes, everything is here. Version 2.1: Okay...turns out I was a bigger idiot than I thought. For Sun Jian's weapon, not only did I list the wrong stage, but I also listed a walkthrough for that wrong stage! Meh... Fixed Lu Meng's fourth weapon, again, and added more in depth strategies for Pang Tong and Huang Gai's fourth weapons. I want to get the weapons finished up next, add the latest information on the bodyguards after that, and then add star numbers beside each stage and beside each fourth weapon. This guide my be complete information wise, but I'm far from done with it. This guide will be a good base for my DW5:XL guide. ^_~ Version 2.2: Added three more FAQs, one is a really frequently asked question about weapons. I don't know if it's adressed in the manual or not, but I keep getting it so I put it there. Also, a minor fix on the Hu Lao Gate walkthrough. Added the latest information to the bodyguard section. Completed Wei Yan's and Xu Zhu's fourth weapon in depth strategy and added fourth weapon locations for Pang De, Sun Shang Xiang, and Ling Tong. I'd say a pretty good update. Version 2.3: Added Zhao Yun's fourth weapon location (I'm going back and getting the fourth weapons again to confirm strategies and get locations) Added Sun Quan's fourth weapon strategy. The only two characters I have left are Xiahou Yuan and Zhou Tai. Since I dislike both of those characters equally, it will take some time before I actually care enough to do them. Added my item setup to the general tips section. Oh yea...I knew there was a reason why for this update. Changed the Hex Mark Saddle requirements. I think it's now right and correct and all that good stuff. I bet CJayC is tired of my daily updates. Version 2.4: Made minor corrections and adjustments to Yue Ying's, Jiang Wei's, and Huang Zhong's fourth weapons. All of these "corrections" really didn't affect getting the weapon if you used the strategy. They're just minor details. I'm also thinking about mapping out the bodyguard attacks. If someone wants to do it for me, they're more than welcome to. As always, credit will be given. Hey...I'm not greedy and I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong. ^_~ Added some minor formatting because people were complaining and forming a mob outside my house. Version 2.5: Added one more FAQ (THERE IS NO CAW GET OVER IT ALREADY!). Also added Xiahou Yuan's weapon (only Zhou Tai left...as you can see, I don't really care for him). If I haven't answered your e-mail, there's three reasons for it: 1. My internet has been out a whole lot because the cable jack is screwed up, but it's been fixed now. 2. I've been playing Dark Cloud 2 and RoTK9 a whole lot more than Dynasty Warriors 5. 3. I don't give a damn? Version 2.6: Added my tier list, which everyone should read because it's good reading material and good, solid opinions on who the best characters are in the game. Also, fixed some Dian Wei info and realized that there's two fifth weapons still left to do (Sima Yi and Zhou Tai). I will get the last two weapons done by the next version, I promise. Version 3.0: I’m done with the last two weapons. I’m pretty much done with this guide. I know that the European release has just happened, so I’ll still be answering questions and fixing things if someone points out a mistake and I’ll gradually be adding locations of weapons when I decide to get all the weapons again (I’ve gotten some over again and I’m in the middle of maxing out everyone), but other than that, this guide won’t be updated with any new material. Version 3.1: Apparently, I’m having apostrophe and dash issues. It was a lot of fun replacing them...and then a lot more fun replacing them the second time when I did the exact same thing to cause me to get the issues in the first place. Good job me. They all should be fixed now and hopefully everything is the same. Version 3.2: Minor fixes to Zhou Yu’s description and added Ling Tong’s stages, which I forgot to do last time (I seem to mess up a lot of Wu characters). ---------------- 1b. What’s Left? ---------------- Not much, if anything. --------------- 2. General Tips --------------- My item setup: I personally just use the Red Hare Saddle (except for Ma Chao, who gets the Shadow Saddle), the Fire Orb, the Peacock Amulet, the Tiger Amulet, the Tortoise Amulet, Ginsing, and the Wind Scroll (except for Ma Chao, who gets a Horned Helmet). I might every once in a while equip a Dragon Amulet. I find that this is the best setup for me and how I play. The two parts of the game: There are two important parts to the game: crowd clearing and dueling. You must master both in order to be good at the game. Each character has moves that are good for one part and good for the other part. You'd be surprised at how your strategies can change when facing a general in a crowd as opposed to facing a general by himself. Learn to master both and you will master the game. Learn to block: There is a block button in the game for a reason. I never knew how important blocking was to the game until I played DW3:XL. In that game, you either blocked or you died. It was pretty much that simple. Blocking can be very important and sometimes the difference between life and death. Don’t block when you’re surrounded by people. Block when the crowd of people are in front of you. Blocking can also leave enemies wide open. After they are done attacking you, give them a dose of their own medicine. Combo up stat bonuses: You can use the Charge 5 attacks (press square four times followed by triangle) to launch people into the air. If you continuously do this, you will see a combo counter appear, telling you how many times you have hit someone consecutively. If you kill an enemy general with a high combo, the stat bonus they drop will increase. To make a +1 stat bonus change into a +2 stat bonus, you must perform an 8 hit combo. To make a +2 stat bonus change into a +4 stat bonus, you must perform a 16 hit combo. To make a +4 stat bonus to change into a +8 stat bonus, you must perform a 24 hit combo. The Link special ability on bodyguards can make the amount of hits you must perform on a general drop. This is really helpful in making your characters stronger. Backflips help: If you can, learn to reflexively backflip everytime you are knocked down. To backflip, press L1 as soon as you hit the ground. The timing is easy to get down and it helps you to get right back into the action. Save every once in a while: Saving in the middle of the game can help out a whole lot, especially if you're getting fourth weapons. DW5 is a lot easier to save than DW3 because you don't have to go back and continue your game from the title screen as soon as you do it. Unless you like dying at the worst times and then having to go through a level all over again, try to save at around the middle of a stage. Difficulty and stars: How hard a stage becomes is based on it's star difficulty. When playing a five stage musou mode, the first stage is one star, the second is two stars, and so on. I do not know how the progression goes for a four, six, or eight stage musou mode. Also, increasing the difficulty increases the stars of the stage by one. How did I figure this out? On a five star stage, the Musou Wines and Dim Sums give out +20 instead of +10. However, if you play a four star stage on Hard mode, it will also give a +20, therefore the conclusion can be drawn that Hard increases the stars by one (also, a four star stage on Hard plays similar to a five star stage on Normal). Also, playing a musou mode on Hard mode will give you a +20 on the fourth and fifth stage, but only a +20 on the fifth stage on Normal mode, thus allowing me to draw the five stage five star conclusion. You may argue with me on my claim, but this is my theory and I'm sticking to it until otherwise proven wrong (proven as in giving me proof and a credible and intellegent argument. The Musou Wine and Dim Sum thing is right though. ------------- 3. Characters ------------- There are 48 characters in DW5. Six of these characters are making their debut as being playable. This section will have a brief history of the character, their move set, a list of weapons they have, the list of stages in which they appear in, and which moves are the best for which situation. They are listed as they appear on the menu in the game. The history section is based on the Romance of the Three Kingdom’s novel. Just for the record, I don’t have the entire RoTK book memorized, so the history sections may be either wrong/brief/not good/combo of all three. Also, the way they are listed on the menu is based on which game they first appeared in. For the move set section, S refers to square and T refers to triangle. Both the ST and SSSST attacks send enemies into the air, allowing you to hit them more times as they come down. An SST attack is called a charge rush and the move’s effect depends on how often you tap the T button. The more times you press the T button, the more times the first part of the attack happens before the second part of the attack occurs. A (T) means that triangle can be pressed for additional effects. For first charge attacks (C1), I have classified them as the following: Element Projectile: Character shoots out an orb that explodes after a short period of time. The element in front of the word projectile indicates which element the orb has. Dash: Character dashes ahead with a certain type of attack. Taunt: A move that is similar to the taunt moves in DW4. Character poses while a blast of white energy surround the character and damages all who is around him. I finally found a good use for this: taking generals off of horses. That’s about the only good use for them. Special: A special type of move that fits into no other categories. For jump charges, I have classified them as the following: Projectile: Character shoots out a whirlwind type projectile. Multi-hit: Character knocks the enemies into the air and proceeds to hit them multiple times in the air. Stomp: Character dives towards the ground and stomps the ground, sending out a shockwave. Moving: Character does move in mid air that covers a lot of distance Double: Character has an attack that consists of two separate motions and attacks. My Tier List ----------------- Here is my tier list and my reasons: Top Tier: Whoever you play the best with Second Tier: Whoever you kind of play the best with Third Tier: Whoever you sometimes play the best with Bottom Tier: Whoever you really don't like the play as In all seriousness, it's based solely on your opinions and the opinions of others. The best characters are not set in stone because it's based on your playing style. Yes, we all know that Lu Bu is a god with unholy range that shouldn't be allowed in any game and yes we all know that Ma Chao is the best on a horse (Honestly, stop using him on a horse already! Do you even know what his Charge 5 is without scrolling back up to see his moveset?), but overall, your best character is who you can play the best as. I know that there are some characters better than others, but it's based more on who you like to play and who you think is the best. After all, the current tier list is completely based off the opinions of other people and is constantly changing with each new opinion. There will never be a set tier list and even if someone claims that the tier list is set in stone, it won't ever be right because opinions are never right. Are you going to let a bunch of people tell you who's good and who's not good? God I hope not. What do I have against tier lists? Nothing against the tier lists really, even if they are pointless. However, I find the debates about them and the people who make them equally pointless. Do I believe in tiers? Yes. Do I think that you can define them? Nope. It's all based on how you play and how good you are. Do I think I'm going to stop tier lists from being formed? No. Do I care? Nope. I could care less if you think that making a tier list is on the top tier of things you want to do with this game, but it doesn't mean that I have to agree. So why did I make this section? Well...other than the intended insults I was going to throw at people (I deleted them because of tastefulness), it's here to prove that the only opinion that matters is that of your own. I basically blast Xing Cai as the worst character in the game every chance I get, but if you think she is the best character, by all means, don't let my opinion stop you from thinking that way. After all, it's just my opinion that Xing Cai is horrible. There are only two main facts that you should remember when playing Dynasty Warriors 5: 1. You should base the game off of your own skills and opinions. 2. Da Qiao's Charge 5 can juggle with a heavy weapon, no matter how many people says it can't. Okay...so maybe all you need to remember is fact 1, but fact 2 is still very useful. --------------------- 4. Stage Walkthroughs --------------------- This section is filled with each stage, tips on beating each stage, and the locations of Dim Sum and Musou Wine. The Musou Wines are in pots in the listed locations. The Dim Sums are obtained by defeating the generals listed. A quick note about Musou Wine and Dim Sum: Musou Wine and Dim Sum normally give out +10, but if you play a five star stage, it will become +20. Also, if you play a four star stage on hard mode (which basically makes it a five star stage), you will also get a +20. Battle of Xi Liang: 180 A.D. Dong Zhuo forces vs. Yellow Turbans Musou Wine: Northeast corner of the map, near the stronghold Dim Sum Dong Zhuo’s forces: Defeat Zhang Liang Dim Sum Yellow Turbans: None (I played the stage three times and waited forever just to make sure that no reinforcements came out with a Dim Sum, I'm fairly sure that there is none) Dong Zhuo’s forces: Your blocked by two sorceries to start off the stage. One is a rolling log, which blocks your path completely, and the second is a rockslide, which is just annoying. Defeating Cheng Yuanzhi will cause the rockslide to create a bridge for you to get to the northern part of the stage. After this Zhang Bao creates the phantom army. Defeat Zhang Bao to stop these illusions. Defeat Zhang Jiao to end the stage. Yellow Turbans: Protect Zhang Liang and Zhang Bao so they may pull off their magic on Dong Zhuo’s forces. The only other major concern here is Ma Chao, as he ambushes in the northeast corner. Defeat Dong Zhuo to end the stage. Battle of Ji Province: 180 A.D. Yuan Shao’s forces vs. Yellow Turbans Musou Wine: Right of the center altar Dim Sum Yuan Shao’s forces: Defeat Zhang Bao Dim Sum Yellow Turbans: Defeat Yuan Xi Yuan Shao’s forces: The tornado can be a problem, but just avoid getting hit by it. Reach the altar to stop the tornado. Defeat anyone in the vicinity of the altar just to take out your anger for the creation of the damn thing. Defeat Zhang Jiao to end the stage. Yellow Turbans: Take the center altar by defeating the defense captain there. Getting Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang to join Zhang Jiao on the altar makes the tornados really powerful and can be a real help when defeating the rest of Yuan Shao’s army. Defeat Yuan Shao to end the stage. Battle of Liang Province: 181 A.D. Dong Zhuo’s forces vs. Allied forces (Ma Teng’s forces) Musou Wine: Near the northeastern base Dim Sum Dong Zhuo’s forces: Defeat Pang De Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Hua Xiong Dong Zhuo’s forces: Defeating the southwestern base and the northeastern base prevents reinforcements from showing up for the opponents. Also, protecting the south and east checkpoints allows you to get reinforcements. Ma Chao and Pang De are the only two generals on the map that can give you problems. Defeat Ma Teng to end the stage. Allied forces: Taking out the southwestern base and the northeastern base will allow you to get reinforcements. Also, taking out the south and east checkpoints will prevent reinforcements for your opponents. However, when Dong Zhuo appears on the map, reinforcements will appear in the southwestern base and the northeastern base, whether you’ve taken them or not. Defeat Dong Zhuo to end the stage. Struggle for Nan Zhong: 182 A.D. Meng Huo’s forces vs. Allied forces (tribal leaders) Musou Wine: Northwest corner Dim Sum Meng Huo's forces: Defeat Yong Kai Meng Huo’s forces: The first objective is to defeat King Duosi, King Mulu, and Wu Tugu. Defeating Kin Duosi is straight forward. King Mulu has elephants and tigers to help him out. Wu Tugu has armor units on his side. After these three are defeated, your conditions change. Yong Kai, Gao Ding, and Zhu Bao appear on the map and challenge you to a fight. Watch out for your main camp, as that is what these three head straight for. Defeat Yong Kai, Gao Ding, and Zhu Bao to complete the stage. Battle of Nan Zhong: 183 A.D. Yellow Turbans vs. Nanman forces Musou Wine: Southwest checkpoint near Zhu Rong's starting spot Dim Sum Yellow Turbans: Defeat Ahui Nan Dim Sum Nanman forces: Defeat Bo Zhang Yellow Turbans: In this battle, you must spread the will of heaven on to the Nanman disbelivers. First, take out King Duosi. During or after your fight with the Nanman general, Zhang Jiao will purify the swamps so that you don't take anymore damage from the poison. The damage wasn't that great anyways, but it does convert some of the Nanman forces over to your camp. After this, you can either go take out Wu Tugu in the northwest or King Mulu in the south. Wu Tugu has the armor troops with him and King Mulu has his beast units. Neither one is really hard and Zhang Jiao helps out a little with a little magic from the heavens. Once more Nanman are converted to the Way of Peace, it's time to take on the great king of the Nanman himself. Take out his lovely wife first and then deal with the great king Meng Huo. Defeat Meng huo to end the stage. Nanman forces: Not only do you have to worry about Meng Huo dying, but you also have to worry about the respect of the Nanman forces. If you lose too much respect, you will lose the level. Start off by taking out Zhang Jiao and Pei Yuan Shao. This can be a little difficult because of how many people are surrounding you and how little help you get. Next, Zhang Jiao starts brainwashing your units to fight against you. You have to save Wu Tugu and King Mulu quickly or respect will be lost. You can save them by defeating Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang respectively. After this, Zhang Jiao will purify your poison swamps, which will also lead to a converting of your troops. Defeat Bo Zhang to get your people back. Once you get close to Zhang Jiao, he will whip out his newest and latest trick: teleporting people into your main camp, namely Guan Hai. You can defeat Guan Hai before Zhang Jiao completes his teleportation spell to save you the headache, but odds are, you're going to have to go back to your main base and take out the headache. Either that, or just show Zhang Jiao the small flaw in his plan when he sent off his only help and support halfway across China and bash his brains in. Defeat Zhang Jiao to end the stage. The Yellow Turban Rebellion: 184 A.D. Han forces vs. Yellow Turbans Musou Wine: At the half circle that He Yi starts at Dim Sum Han forces: Defeat Zhang Liang Dim Sum Yellow Turbans: Defeat He Jin Han forces: Zhang Jiao and company have a few old and new tricks up their sleeves for the Han forces. Depending on where you start off at, head towards the closest Zhang you can find. Each one has their own unique spell they cast. Zhang Bao has his traditional drop rocks on Liu Bei spell. Zhang Liang creates a tornado to harass Cao Cao's forces. Zhang Man Chang, who is not a Zhang brother but obviously wants to be the fourth member, has the ability to brainwash Sun Jian and his generals into fighting against you. All of them are annoying and all of them can be a pain in the butt. However, the Zhang trio tend to fall really easily once you get past their spells, so it shouldn't be a problem taking out all three. After the three-fourths of the spellcasting Zhangs are defeated, head towards Zhang Jiao. If you want, you can stop by He Yi and defeat him. Once you enter Zhang Jiao's fort, he casts his nifty phantom army attack that he aquired in DW4. Like in DW4, this can be stopped by destroying the shining objects on the altar. This time, they fall in one hit, so it's easier. Once you are done destroying the phantoms, head up the stairs to face off with Zhang Jiao, who is in hyper cutscene double attack and musou rage when near death mode, but is still really easy to take out. Defeat Zhang Jiao to end the stage. Yellow Turbans: Your main defense and way of surviving in this battle is by taking control of your enemy and showing them that Heaven is the way to go. You want to start off by helping the altars. Yes, Zhang Man Chang is closer and yes dropping boulders on people sounds a lot more fun than standing on an altar chanting, but it's the easiest way to get the enemies off your back (if you can't beat them, make them join you). First, head to Zhang Liang's altar and convert Sun Jian's forces to the Way of Peace. This should be really fast and easy and no one should really attack the altar. Then, rush over to Zhang Bao and make a believer out of Cao Cao. Zhang Bao's altar should be under more attack, but this one should be easy to defend as well. Once you have increased your forces, head to Zhang Man Chang and defeat Gongsun Yue to drop rocks on Gongsun Zan's head. Once this is completed, defeat Gongsun Zan and Liu Bei. Head towards He Jin. This should trigger Dong Zhuo showing up. Luckily, he decided to leave Lu Bu at home. Your conditions change once Dong Zhuo shows up. The only way you can finish the stage is to defeat all the main enemy generals. Take out He Jin and Dong Zhuo to end the stage. Battle of Si Shui Gate: 191 A.D. Allied forces vs. Dong Zhuo’s forces Musou Wine: Near the northeast gate Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Niu Fu Dim Sum Dong Zhuo's forces: Defeat Yuan Shu Allied forces: When the stage starts, you're either starting off at the southern part of the map if you're part of Sun Jian's forces or you're starting off at the east if you're part of Liu Bei's forces. Either way your first goal is to fight your way to Yuan Shu and the northeast defense base so you can clear the supply line to Sun Jian. Just take out any generals that get in your way until you reach that defense base. Once Sun Jian and Liu Bei meet up in the center, it's time to head west towards Si Shui Gate. Li Jue is there to greet you, but he falls easily. Once you get near Si Shui Gate, Lu Bu shows up. Lu Bu in this game is not as hard as he was in other games. He doesn't have his annoying grab from DW4. He didn't even get his everyone clear out stomp that he had in DW3. However, he still is Lu Bu and he still is strong and he can still kill you if you're not careful and get caught in one of his combos. The goal here is to not let Lu Bu get a clear shot at you. Block his attacks until he leaves an opening and then exploit it. Lu Bu is in hyper double attack musou rage when near death don't want to die mode, so be careful. If you try to avoid him and go around him to Hua Xiong, he'll just follow you and protect his leader. To make matters worse, Li Ru also ambushes you to the south and tends to head straight for Yuan Shao. He's not a big factor normally, but he does have the ability to run through your generals when paired up with Lu Bu. Either kill Lu Bu or have him be occupied with your allies and then take out Hua Xiong. Defeat Hua Xiong to end the stage. Battle of Hu Lao Gate: 191 A.D. Allied forces vs. Dong Zhuo’s forces Musou Wine: Near the checkpoint on the path to the northwest castle wall (the path used to go around Hu Lao Gate near Zhang Liao) Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Fan Chou Dim Sum Dong Zhuo's forces: Defeat Jian Yong Allied forces: If you start off as Cao Cao or his forces, you're the first one on the map and you're going to get ambushed by Li Ru and Li Su. If you're part of Sun Jian's forces, you start off at the center near Niu Fu. If you're Liu Bei or one of his officers, you start off on the eastern path and close to Xu Rong. If you're Yuan Shao, you start off in the main camp. Either way, work your way towards the center of the map and then head northwest from there to Hu Lao Gate. Defeat the enemies outside of Hu Lao Gate before you defeat the guard captain that is defending the gate. Once the guard captain has been defeated, Hu Lao Gate opens and everyone's favorite overpowered, annoying general, Lu Bu, shows up. You can either fight him here or you can use the pathway northeast of Hu Lao Gate to go around Lu Bu. Zhang Liao guards this path, but he's easy to get rid of. Once inside, if you defeat all of Dong Zhuo's sub generals, Dong Zhuo asks for Lu Bu to stand by his side. I think that Dong Zhuo also asks for help if you damage him too much. Either way, once this happens, it actually makes Lu Bu easier to kill, as long as you prevent him from reaching Dong Zhuo. He stops attacking and just runs to Dong Zhuo, so if you can constantly attack him and knock him down and prevent him from getting to Dong Zhuo, he becomes an easier kill. Also, there is an ambush from behind lead by Fan Chou, but this isn't very important and Dong Zhuo's normally almost dead when this occurs. Defeat Dong Zhuo to end the stage. Dong Zhuo's forces: First, defeat the sub generals around Hu Lao gate. There should be one from each major faction (Yuan Shao doesn't count...ever). Once the threat on Hu Lao Gate is over, Liu Bei tends to try to rush Hu Lao Gate. If one of his generals gets into the castle, your moral lowers, so defeat him quickly. Also prevent any other generals from getting into the castle. Once Liu Bei and his brothers are defeated, head south and finish off Cao Cao. Next, head towards the center of the map and defeat Gongsun Zan and Sun Jian. Make your way towards Yuan Shao. Wen Chou and Yan Liang should appear on the map when you get close to Yuan Shao. One should attack Hu Lao Gate and the other should defend Yuan Shao. Defeat these two minor annoyances. Defeat Yuan Shao to end the stage. Battle of Chang Shan: 192 A.D. Yuan Shao’s forces vs. Gongsun Zan’s forces Musou Wine: Southwest corner of the map Dim Sun Yuan Shao's forces: Defeat Yu Du Yuan Shao's forces: Start off by heading northward. Lu Bu should get ambushed. If you're Yuan Shao, help out Lu Bu by defeating Zhang Ran to regain Lu Bu's trust. If you're Lu Bu, defeat Zhang Ran and then continue heading towards the castle to regain Yuan Shao's trust. Either way, enter the castle and defeat Liu Bei and his brothers. Defeat Zhao Yun, who's defending one of the gates and make your way towards Gongsun Zan. Defeat Gongsun Zan to end the stage. Battle of Jing Province: 192 A.D. Sun Jian’s forces vs. Liu Biao’s forces Musou Wine: West of the attack base Dim Sum Sun Jian's forces: Defeat Huang Zu Sun Jian's forces: First, make your way towards the castle, taking strongholds along the way. Once you are near the castle, Sun Jian should get ambushed and defeated. Sun Ce becomes the new commander. Once this happens, head towards Huang Zu and defeat him and Zhang Hu. Make your way into the castle and towards Liu Biao. If you take too long in defeating Liu Biao, he will receive reinforcements int he form of Chen Sheng and Su Fei, so defeat these two if they show up. Defeat Liu Biao to end the stage. Battle of the Wu Territory: 197 A.D. Sun Ce’s forces vs. Allied forces (Wu territory leaders) Musou Wine: Inside Wang Lang's fort south of the checkpoint Dim Sum Sun Ce's forces: Defeat Yu Mi Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Sun Quan Sun Ce's forces: Whichever fort you start off near, take that fort by defeating all three enemy generals inside of it. Sun Quan should start making his way towards the eastern fort. He will get ambushed inside that fort. Once he does, head to that fort and fight your way into it. Defeat the general that ambushes Sun Quan and Yu Mi, who goes from Liu Yong's castle to attack the ambushed Sun Quan. This should rescue Sun Quan and give your forces a moral boost. After this, capture the second fort if you haven't already and head towards the southern fort. By this time, Liu Yong should have already retreated, so you're left to face Taishi Ci. He's in hyper, double attack and musou rage when near death mode, but he shouldn't have too much life and be too hard. Defeat Taishi Ci to end the stage. Allied forces: The first thing you should do is ride around and defeat a couple of generals in the immediate area. Try to stay close to the eastern fort, as that's where Sun Quan is going to get ambushed. Once your general says some nasty things about Sun Quan's mother, father, dog, and second cousin, he should make his way to the eastern fort and get ambushed. Zhou Tai, the loyal servant that he is, will try to make his way to Sun Quan and rescue him. Defeat Sun Quan and Zhou Tai, then head towards the southwest corner of the map. This is where the southern fort should be getting attacked the most from. Once you have defeated all generals in this area, defeat Zhou Yu and Sun Shang Xiang in the center of the map. Once all the generals except for Sun Ce are defeated, Sun Ce will charge out and try to challenge you. Defeat Sun Ce to end the stage. Battle of Wan Castle: 197 A.D. Cao Cao’s forces vs. Zhang Xiu’s forces Musou Wine: Northeast corner of the map, near where Cao Cao starts Dim Sum: Defeat Zhang Xiu Cao Cao's forces: First, defeat all soldiers near Cao Cao. This should get Cao Cao heading south. Hu Che Er should ambush Cao Cao once you reached the southeast part of the map. Defeat him and his soldiers to get Cao Cao moving again. Once Cao Cao starts moving again, he should get ambushed by Jia Xiu next. Defeat him and his soldiers and allow Cao Cao to escape through the northwest gate. Now, the fun begins. Zhang Xiu will send soldiers and task forces out to get Cao Cao. The soldiers are not important. The task leaders are. Defeat the task leaders before they get through the gate. If you let too many through, you lose the stage. Eventually, Zhang Xiu might come after you himself, but he's easy to defeat. Allow Cao Cao to escape to end the stage. Battle of Xia Pi: 198 A.D. Cao Cao’s forces vs. Lu Bu’s forces Musou Wine: Near the centermost southern checkpoint Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Zhang Liao Dim Sum Lu Bu's forces: Defeat Xiahou Yuan Cao Cao's forces: Your main goal is to defeat Gao Shun and cause the water attack. Head north towards Zang Ba and defeat him. Then follow the path towards Zhang Liao. Ignore him for now and head towards Gao Shun. Defeat him to cause the water attack that floods most of Xia Pi castle. Now, defeat Zhang Liao, then enter Xia Pi castle. Everyone but Diao Chan should defect to your forces. This will also prevent Yuan Shu from showing up and helping Lu Bu. Defeat Diao Chan (Why does she have a cut scene with Xiahou Yuan? Is there honestly a point to that at all???) and then defeat Lu Bu's sub general. You can either defeat Lu Bu or do enough damage to him to make him retreat. Defeat Lu Bu or let him get caught by his own soldiers to end the stage. Lu Bu's forces: The water attack has already happened, so you start the stage screwed. You have Liu Bei and his brother's hanging out at the southern portion of the map and Xiahou Yuan and Xiahou Dun at the western part of the map trying to kill off your generals. Head towards Xiahou Yuan and Xiahou Dun and defeat them along with their sub generals. Then head towards Xia Pi's southern gate, defeating Liu Bei's generals along the way. Once all of the generals are defeated, Cao Cao should show up in the north. Also, your northern gate should open up, so you can use that to get to Cao Cao. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. Battle of Guan Du: 200 A.D. Cao Cao’s forces vs. Yuan Shao’s forces Musou Wine: Inside Wu Chao supply depot Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Chunyu Qiong Dim Sum Yuan Shao's forces: Defeat Liu Yan Cao Cao's forces: Your first target should be Yan Liang. You can let him die to Guan Yu, but what fun is that? Just rush him and kill him before Guan Yu disposes of him. This should cause Guan Yu to head north instead of sticking around to deal with Wen Chou. This will also cause him to take his leave of the battlefield and cause Liu Bei to head northwards. Of course, it's no fun to just let Liu Bei leave either, so take him and Jian Yong out. While you're at it, take out Yuan Shang. Now, just make your way west, taking out strongholds and generals along your way. Eventually, Wu Chao supply depot should open up. Run inside Wu Chao and defeat the drunk Chungyu Qiong (he was drunk in the novel when Wu Chao went up in smoke). With Yuan Shao's moral offically in the trashcan, Zhang He should defect. Now, head towards Guan Du castle and defeat any generals who could possibly be attacking it. Also, make short work of the siege towers. Zhen Ji should be the hardest general attacking the castle, but she should be no trouble at all. Once the castle is safe, it's time to finish off the Yuan family once and for all. Head to the northwest fort and take on Yuan Shao. Defeat Yuan Shao to end the stage. Yuan Shao's forces: Your first target should be Guan Yu. Prevent him from getting to Yan Liang. Saving Yan Liang saves moral and keeps a strong ally on the board. Once Guan Yu is defeated, take out Bai Ma castle (it's the eastern fort). Once you have secured your position, you can either work your way west and take strongholds and defeat generals or you can help out your siege towers. Even if you lose one set of siege towers, you have plenty more sets (I believe you have five sets of siege towers). When you're ready to set siege on Guan Du castle, head south to the castle gates and defeat Cao Pi and Li Dian. If you have defeated every main general on the board besides Cao Cao, the side doors should open up before the front doors collapse. Enter through the side and run through Cao Cao's sub generals. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. Guan Yu’s Escape: 200 A.D. Guan Yu’s forces vs. Cao Cao’s forces Musou Wine: In front of the third gate Dim Sum Guan Yu's forces: Defeat Xiahou Dun Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Zhou Cang Guan Yu's forces: This stage is pretty straight forward. Just head south and defeat anyone who stands in your way. Zhang Liao will be your first opponent. After that, it's just easy non playable generals until you get to Xu Huang. Xu Huang is also pretty easy. While you're heading south, make sure the carriage doesn't get destroyed. If it takes too much damage, you'll receive messages saying it's taking damage. The last gate will not open until you have defeated Xiahou Dun, so go back and take him out. He is the hardest general on the map, but even then, he's not much. Let the carriage reach the escape point to end the stage. Cao Cao's forces: If you have the Red Hare Saddle, you can end this stage quickly by just rushing Guan Yu. However, that's no fun, so just go through the generals one by one. The carriage really doesn't run that fast, so track it down and destroy it. That will stop you from losing the stage when it reaches the escape point. Zhao Yu and Guan Ping try to hinder your path to Guan Yu, but they fall easily. Guan Yu is a different story. He is the strongest general on the map, but he shouldn't be that difficult. He is in hyper mode, but other than that, he's an easy kill. Defeat Guan Yu to end the stage. The Trials of Sun Ce: 200 A.D. Sun Ce’s forces vs. Yu Ji’s forces Musou Wine: North of the eastern checkpoint Dim Sum Sun Ce's forces: I believe Sun Jian or Da Qiao drops one, but I am not 100% sure. Sun Ce's forces: Your goal is to defeat Yu Ji 187 times. Okay, not really that many times, but it will feel like it. First, defeat the one Yu Ji that shows up. Once he is defeated, he will bring out four more phantom Yu Ji's. Defeat them. Now he will summon four more phantom Yu Ji's along with phantom soldiers. Ignore the phatom soldiers (you can't damage them anyways) and focus on the Yu Ji's. Once they are defeated, he will start sending your own soldiers against you. Get up to 50 kills and he will summon a phantom Da Qiao and a phantom Sun Jian to attack you. Defeat those two to get even more Yu Ji's to show up. I think there are a total of eight of them, but there could be even more. After you defeat three of them, they get a whole lot of stamina. Even worse, they shoot projectiles at you. The ice projectiles freeze more often than not. The lightning projectiles dizzy. Try your best to avoid these projectiles, as they are really annoying. The real Yu Ji is in hyper mode and has double the health that the fake Yu Ji's have. Defeat all the fake Yu Ji's to make your duel with the real one easier. Defeat the real Yu Ji to end the stage. Battle of Xia Kou: 208 A.D. Sun Quan’s forces vs. Huang Zu’s forces Musou Wine: Center checkpoint on the eastern side Dim Sum Sun Quan's forces: Defeat Gan Ning Dim Sum Huang Zu's forces: Defeat Ling Tong Sun Quan's forces: Your goal is to fight your way to the center. If you're starting on the eastern side, clear out all the generals on that side until Taishi Ci starts moving, then make your way to the center. Defeating Cai Mao will prevent him from launching the ships and attacking Sun Quan directly. Once Cai Mao is gone, it's time to face Gan Ning. He's in hyper cut scene thinks he's a badass don't want to die speed and attack double and musou rage when near death mode, so be careful. He can kill you in one hit with an attack up, musou rage, and his musou attack, so be double careful when he turns yellow. Once Gan Ning is dead, everyone else is easy. Just make your way to the center fort in the north, defeat anyone else who is on the map, and enter the fort. Defeat Huang Zu to end the stage. Huang Zu's forces: Your first goal is to protect the ships. You might want to defeat Ling Tong before you defeat Ling Cao, as Ling Tong goes into hyper mode once Ling Cao dies. Finish off Zhou Tai while you're there. Once that side is cleared off, head north and protect Huang Zu's fort. This will also send Chen Jiu to protect Cai Mao. After everyone around Huang Zu's fort is defeated, head down the eastern side and take out Taishi Ci and Zhou Yu. Once everyone is defeated, Cai Mao is able to launch the ships (which kind of defeats the point of it all, as there really isn't anyone left to fight). Defeat Sun Quan to end the stage. Battle of Chang Ban: 208 A.D. Liu Bei’s forces vs. Cao Cao’s forces Musou Wine: Near the southeastern checkpoint Dim Sum Liu Bei's forces: Defeat Yu Jin Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Guan Yu Liu Bei's forces: Your goal is to help Liu Bei escape the clutches of Cao Cao. You first goal is to wipe out most of the troops to the north, which is Xiahou Dun, Yue Jin, and their sub generals. Don't worry too much about getting the one base that Zhuge Liang talks about. Normally your people are the first ones to that base anyways. Head towards Chang Ban Bridge and defeat Xiahou Dun. Make your way west and take out Yue Jin and his sub general Xiahou En. Head south and take out Li Dian and his sub general. By this time, Cao Hong should have went all the way around and is now attacking the middle stronghold, so defeat him and all soldiers around it to let Liu Bei through. Cao Cao should be sending more troops at you, so head towards the northeastern strong hold and defeat all generals there. Then head around towards Xu Huang and defeat him. Use the western route again to head south. By this time, Jia Xiu should be on the map in the southeast, so head towards him and defeat his two sub generals along with him. By this time, Liu Qi should have shown up and Liu Bei should be moving towards the southeastern area. Cao Cao should also appear in the northwest. You an either follow Liu Bei towards the escape point or you can head north and defeat Cao Cao. Defeat Cao Cao or allow Liu Bei to escape to end the stage. Cao Cao's forces: Whatever you do, do not let Liu Bei escape. You can help yourself out a great deal by taking some of the neutral strongholds to the south, especially the center stronghold on the southern path. You don't have to do this, but it makes chasing down Liu Bei a lot easier. After you get the stronghold, head back north. Zhang Fei should be in hyper mode at the bridge and Zhao Yun should be in hyper mode trying to get back to Liu Bei. Zhang Fei only stays in hyper mode while he's on the bridge and heads off the bridge once Zhao Yun has been defeated, so head towards Zhao Yun first and take him out. Then, you can take out Zhang Fei no problem. Clear out the top half of the map of Liu Bei's generals and then begin your chase of Liu Bei. When Liu Bei reaches the southwestern corner of the map, Guan Yu shows up. Defeat him and his sub general. Zhuge Liang should also be in the area, so defeat him as well. When Liu Qi shows up, Liu Bei will make a mad dash towards the escape point and will not stop to fight anyone or anything except for the stronghold that gets in his way. If you didn't take the stronghold, your best chance for getting him is by killing him while you're on a horse (or using a really fast character). Defeat Liu Bei to end the stage. Battle of Chi Bi: 208 A.D. Allied forces (Sun Quan and Liu Bei’s forces) vs. Cao Cao’s forces Musou Wine: In between the big center ship that has a stronghold on it and the eastern bridge Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Cai Mao Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Dong Xi Allied forces: Depending on where you are at on the map, either clear out the western or eastern side of the map of sub generals and then head for the eastern bridge. That should be the first bridge you take down. Defeat the sub general on that bridge and any sub generals in the area and make your way towards Cao Hong. Defeat Cao Hong and ignore Xiahou Yuan for the moment. Defeat Cai Mao on the western bridge to send that one falling. Once both bridges have collapsed, Cao Cao will chain his ships. Now, defeat Xiahou Yuan's other sub general if you haven't already and head towards Zhang Liao. Defeat his two sub generals if you haven't already and defeat Zhang Liao. By the time you have defeated Zhang Liao, Huang Gai should have already started preparations for the fire attack, which causes Xiahou Yuan to start moving towards Huang Gai. He should be in your area, so take him out. The west side should be completely clear of generals and Zhuge Liang and Huang Gai should be safe to start the wind and the fire attack. Go to the eastern part of the map and take out Zhen Ji and her sub generals. Head north and face off with Cao Pi and Cao Xiu. The fire attack should have happened. You can either take out Cao Zhen and Jia Xiu if you want or you can go straight to Cao Cao and face him. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. Cao Cao's forces: Almost immediately after the stage starts, the bridges should fall. I don't think there is any way to prevent this. The first person you should aim to take out is Pang Tong. Once he is defeated, start to take out Zhou Yu's sub generals. They should be in the area around Pang Tong. Then take out Zhou Yu. By this time, Zhuge Liang should start making his way towards the altar. Defeat Pan Zhang and then take out Zhuge Liang to stop the wind summoning. Now, Huang Gai should be making his way towards the fire ship. Catch Huang Gai before he can get to the ship and defeat him. He is in hyper mode, but he's not that hard to defeat. Once he is gone, the fire attack is completely prevented and the allied forces lose lots of moral. Defeat Zhou Tai's sub generals and then defeat Zhou Tai himself. This will most likely cause Sun Quan to finally show up, along with reinforcements near the center stronghold on the western path. Defeat the rest of the generals on the map and then aim for Sun Quan. Defeat Sun Quan to end the stage. Escape from Chi Bi: 208 A.D. Allied forces (Sun Quan and Liu Bei's forces) vs. Cao Cao’s forces Musou Wine: South of the broken bridge in the center of the map Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Xiahou Dun Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Sun Quan Allied forces: You start off the map chasing Cao Cao. Guan Yu should let Cao Cao go, so head north and east and face off with Cao Ren. Defeat him and his two sub generals. Xiahou Dun should make the bridge fall and Cao Cao should take a quick breather, so head east. Zhang Liao and his sub generals should be your next target. Finish them off and head north and then west again. Cao Cao should be on the move again, so chase after him. Now, we begin the whole master thing, in which everyone shows up wanting the master. Jia Xiu will show up as reinforcement and should fight you while you're dueling Xiahou Dun. Defeat Xiahou Dun and Jia Xiu and head back east and south. Cao Zhang should show up near the center checkpoint on the eastern path. Defeat him and his sub general. Cao Hong should show up as reinforcements on Sun Quan's ship. Take him out and head back north to Cao Cao. Xiahou Yuan should be protecting Cao Cao. Defeat him. Now, you can either wait for Xun Yu to show up and create an escape point for Cao Cao (your forces should have him so badly surrounded by now that he can't escape at all) or you can just fight Cao Cao and finish things off. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. Cao Cao's forces: See Cao Cao, this is why you shouldn't chase people all through Chang Ban. You never know when the tables will be turned on you and you become the one who is running. Protect Cao Cao as he travels north and gets ambushed by everyone along the way. Cheng Pu is your first opponent. Defeat him and his sub general. Han Dang should ambush you from behind, so take him out before he does any harm. Your next opponent should be Zhu Zhi and his sub general, who ambush you as Cao Cao heads east. Once they are defeated, Cao Cao will head north. He will say something about there not being any ambushes at the clearing, which you know will lead to another ambush. Zhao Yun shows up, so defeat him and his sub general. The next person to get in your way is Zhang Fei. He will ambush you as you are heading west. Defeat him and then continue on your way west. When you hit the fork in the road, Guan Ping will show up. Defeat him and continue your advance north. Sun Quan will appear now with a bunch of sub generals all over the map. You can chase down the sub generals if you want, or you can just rush Sun Quan and get him out of the way. Sun Quan shows up in the southeastern corner of the map. Defeat him and then head back up to where Cao Cao is. Guan Yu should appear, but he will let Cao Cao through without any problems. Liu Bei, on the other hand, refuses to do so. Defeat his sub generals and then defeat Liu Bei to clear the path for the escape. Allow Cao Cao to escape to complete the stage. Battle of Tong Gate: 211 A.D. Cao Cao’s forces vs. Allied forces (Ma Chao’s and Pang De’s forces) Musou Wine: Southeast of Tong Gate Dim Sum Cao Cao's forces: Defeat Ma Dai Dim Sum Allied forces: Defeat Xu Zhu Cao Cao's forces: This can be a hard map because you have both Pang De and Ma Chao in hyper cut scene refuse to die heal themselves musou rage when near death mode. Your first target is Tong Gate and Ma Chao. Ma Chao should be aiming directly for Cao Cao, so defeat him first. Pang De for the most part will stay put in front of Tong Gate and Han Sui won't be any factor at all, so defeat Ma Chao first. He's tough and he has archers with him, so be careful. Ma Dai should also get in the way, but if you kill him before you get close to Ma Chao, you shouldn't have any problems. Defeat Ma Chao and make your way towards Tong Gate. Pang De is here and he is also surrounded by archers. It's going to feel like DW3's Yi Ling near Sun Quan's base, except for the fact that arrows don't hurt as badly, but they're still annoying, especially when you're fighting an overpowered enemy. Take out Pang De. Once those two generals are gone, the rest should be easy. Head through Tong Gate to occupy it and give your forces a moral boost and finish off any generals that may be left on the stage. There should be a few around Han Sui, but they are all easy. To complete the stage, Ma Chao, Pang De, and Han Sui all have to die. Since you've already taken out Ma Chao and Pang De, there is only one person left. Defeat Han Sui to complete the stage. Allied forces: Cao Cao will attack Tong Gate from two sides, so it's best to get rid of one side first. Clear out the front of Tong Gate of Xiahou Yuan and whoever else is there. Xu Zhu will stand in your way and protect Cao Cao. He is in hyper mode, but will not go into musou rage mode, which is a good thing, considering the fact that his musou plus a musou rage will probably kill you in one hit. Defeat Xu Zhu and chase after Cao Cao. Cao Cao will realize the fight is not going well and will try to get Han Sui to defect. Xu Huang will also show up as reinforcements and start attacking from the north. I have yet to figure out a way to stop Han Sui's defection, so I don't know if you can stop it or not. When Han Sui defects, a bunch of your generals will run away, leaving pretty much Ma Chao and Pang De against everyone. Make Han Sui pay for his treason by defeating him. Cao Ren will show up as reinforcements in the northwest, so take him out as well. Defeat Xu Huang, Jia Xiu, and anyone else who is left on the map. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. Battle of Cheng Du: 214 A.D. Liu Bei’s forces vs. Liu Zhang’s forces Musou Wine: Inside Cheng Du castle near Liu Zhang's initial position Dim Sum Liu Bei's forces: Defeat Meng Da Liu Bei's forces: Odds are, you're starting off close to Luo Castle. If not, make your way towards there. This should be your starting point. Make your way into the castle and start beating up on Liu Xun's sub generals. Once they are all gone, defeat Liu Xun. I don't know exactly when this happens or what causes it, but there tends to be an ambush party east of Luo Castle. Defeat them as well and make your way into the forest. Take out Yan Yan, Zhang Yi, and whoever else is inside the forest and head towards Zhang Ran. Odds are, you should have done all this before Pang Tong dies, but if he does get ambushed and killed, it's no big deal. Defeat Zhang Ran and enter the outer part of Cheng Du castle. Defeat Meng Da, who is hiding inside the castle. The inner part of the castle where Liu Zhang is hiding will not open up until the castle is completely surrounded, so open all the gates and defeat Li Yan if he is still alive. There should be no generals or sub generals left on the map. Once Cheng Du is completely surrounded, the inner part of the castle will open up and you will face off with Liu Zhang. Defeat Liu Zhang to end the stage. Battle of He Fei: 215 A.D. Wei forces vs. Wu forces Musou Wine: Along the western river east of the northwestern stronghold Dim Sum Wei forces: Defeat Sun Shao Dim Sum Wu forces: Defeat Cao Hong Wei forces: Finally, we are officially into the Three Kingdoms Era. Like in DW3's He Fei, you should make your way towards the center and occupy it. Take all enemy strongholds here and defeat Pan Zhang and his forces. Wu will start to make there way towards your castle. To make Zhang Liao ambush Sun Quan, you must prevent any Wu generals from getting to close to the northwest castle. After Pan Zhang, Lu Meng is the one who gets the closest to the castle, so defeat him and his sub generals next. Zhang Liao should ambush Sun Quan, which causes most of the Wu generals to retreat. Apparently, Zhu Zhi never heard Sun Quan request the retreat and still tries to attack. Head to the northeast corner and defeat Zhu Zhi's sub generals, Taishi Ci's sub generals, and Zhu Zhi. By this time, Gan Ning should ambush the Wei forces east of Cao Cao's castle. Head towards him and face off with Gan Ning. Gan Ning is in hyper don't want to die attack increases and musou rages when near death mode, so watch out. His musou really hurts when he musou rages, so watch out. Defeat him and make your way towards Sun Quan. Defeat all the officers around Sun Quan, including Taishi Ci. Defeat Sun Quan to end the stage. Wu forces: First, you should head towards the center and clear out Pang De and his troops. You should also defeat the reinforcements that arrive to help out Pang De. Next, head north and take out Li Dian, who is hiding in a fort. Also, defeat the northern reinforcements that show up. By this time, Zhang Liao should destroy Xian Shi bridge and ambush Sun Quan. Head towards Zhang Liao and defeat him. He is in hyper mode, but he only doubles up his attack and won't go into musou rage. Once he retreats, head to the southwestern corner of the map and defeat Xu Huang. Also, take the checkpoint there. There is a reason for this. Head to the northeastern corner of the map. Xiahou Dun should ambush this area, along with Cao Hong and Zhang Liao. Defeat Zhang Liao first and then chase after the other two and defeat them. They should head down the eastern road and try to get to Sun Quan that way. Make your way towards the southwestern corner. By this time, the only generals that should be left on the map are Cao Cao and his sub generals. Your allies can deal with Cao Cao's sub generals easily. Zhang Liao will appear in the southwestern corner next, but if you take that checkpoint down there, he won't be able to make his way towards Sun Quan, which means you have less chasing to do. Defeat Zhang Liao and third time and head north. Zhang Liao will appear a fourth time west of Cao Cao's castle. Gan Ning should also show up on the stage, but by this time, his help isn't really needed. Defeat Zhang Liao when he shows up again. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. The Invasion of Nan Zhong: 215 A.D. Wu forces vs. Nanman forces Musou Wine: Near the checkpoint west of the center stronghold Dim Sum Wu forces: Defeat Zhu Rong Dim Sum Nanman forces: Defeat Zhu Ran Wu forces: First, you want to clear out the center. Defeat Dong Tu Ne and Ahui Nan. Your next target should be Jinhuan Sanjie. After this, defeat Zhu Rong and take out the southern stronghold. Charge into Meng Huo's main camp and defeat Meng You. Meng Huo should appear along the eastern path and your main camp should get ambushed. Head towards the center bridge and defeat the task captain. This will prevent your bridge from being destroyed and prevent enemy reinforcements from showing up. Defeat the enemy ambushes in the east and west of your main camp and then make your way towards Meng Huo. Watch out for the elephants and tigers that show up with the ambushes. Defeat Meng Huo to end the stage. Nanman forces: Your first goal is to take out anyone in the center area. Lu Xun should be the toughest person in the center area. If you get close to the bridge, it should collapse and cause your moral to go up, so make the bridge fall. By this time, Sun Shang Xiang should be making her way south, so take her out. Your forces should have ambushed the main camp by now, so use the path they opened up to get to Sun Quan. Defeat Sun Quan to end the stage. Battle of Mt. Ding Jun: 219 A.D. Shu forces vs. Wei forces Musou Wine: Near the checkpoint east of the center stronghold Dim Sum Shu forces: Defeat Xiahou De Dim Sum Wei forces: Defeat Huang Zhong Shu forces: Your first goal is to occupy Mt. Tian Dang by defeating Xiahou De and his sub general. You don't have to worry about the stronghold up there. Once the mountain is occupied, charge down the mountain towards Xiahou Yuan. He is in hyper cut scene don't want to die heal and defense up not to mention a musou rage when near death mode, so be careful. A lot of the other Wei generals like to get in the way when you're fighting him. Also, being the skilled archer that he is, he is surrounded by archers as well. Defeating him is no fun, but it can be done. Once he is gone, your next target should be Zhang He. Defeat him and then start taking out the rest of the Wei forces until Cao Cao arrives. After he arrives, just finish off the remaining generals. Defeat Cao Cao to end the stage. Wei forces: What you want to do is to try to get rid of everyone around Huang Zhong before he charges down the mountain. This makes life easier. First, head towards the southern path and take out Zhao Yun's sub generals. Also, take out the attack base that is there. Defeat Zhao Yun and Guan Ping. This should cause Huang Zhong to send some of his generals after Xiahou Yuan. Defeat them and then head towards Wei Yan. Take him out and charge up the mountain. Defeat Yan Yan before chasing after Huang Zhong. Huang Zhong is in hyper don't want to die even though he's 90 heals and all that other good stuff and musou rages when near death mode, so be careful. He is also surrounded by a healthy amount of archers, so musou rage yourself if you have one. Once he is defeated, Liu Bei charges up the center mountain. Defeat Liu Bei to end the stage. Battle of Fan Castle: 219 A.D. Allied forces (Wei and Wu) vs. Shu forces Musou Wine: Inside Fan Castle near Cao Ren's initial position Dim Sum Wei forces: Defeat Guan Ping Dim Sum Wu forces: Defeat Guan Xing Dim Sum Shu forces: Defeat Pang De Wei forces: Your first goal is to stop Guan Ping's water attack. Head towards the northern path and take out any generals along the way. When you reach Guan Ping, he is in hyper mode, but he's not too terribly hard. Meng Da will try to save Guan Ping, but by the time he gets there, Guan Ping should have bit the dust. Defeat Meng Da for being late and then head towards the southeastern corner of the map. Xu Huang should have arrived as reinforcements by now and should be running through the Shu forces like a man possessed. Defeat whoever he doesn't and make your way to the southwestern fort. Defeat Fu Shi Ren and Mi Heng, who are outside the fort. Zhang Bao and Zhang Fei should arrive as reinforcements. Zhang Fei is in hyper mode. Guan Yu is in that special hyper mode where he gets to introduce himself and make your life so wonderful by refusing to die and glowing yellow with musou rage when near death, so have fun. Wu should show up as reinforcements, but by the time they do, the battle is pretty much already won. Defeat Guan Yu to end the stage. Wu forces: The water attack has already happened, so you don't have to worry about that. Pang De is defending his castle pretty well, so you don't really have to worry about Cao Ren dying as long as you kill people in a quick manner. Defeat anyone who is around Fan Castle like Guan Xing and Liao Hua to make sure Cao Ren stays alive and then head towards the center stronghold near where Guan Ping is. Defeat Guan Ping. By this time, Lu Meng should have said to attack Mi Heng and Fu Shi Ren. If you leave Guan Ping alive while you are converting these two, he will kill them both pretty fast. Since you really don't want to lose moral, it's a good idea to take out Guan Ping first. Getting Fu Shi Ren and Mi Heng's life down to about 75% will cause them to defect to your side. Now, the only general left on the field should be Guan Yu and anyone around him. There are two reinforcements that arrive at the southwestern castle. The first one is Liu Feng. The second one is Zhang Fei and Zhang Bao. Defeat them both before they become too much of a problem and then take out Guan Yu. Just like for Wei, Guan Yu is in hyper refusal to die and all that good stuff along with musou rage mode, so be careful. Defeat Guan Yu to end the stage. Shu forces: The first thing you should do is to make sure the water attack happens. To do this, defeat Niu Jin and Yu Jin. These are the only two generals that tend to attack Guan Ping. Now, begin taking out the Wei generals. Most of them should be easy. Once the water attack hits, Pang De will block your path to Fan Castle. He is in hyper attack up musou rage when near death mode, so be careful. His musou hurts when he's in musou rage. Also, Xu Huang will show up as reinforcements. I normally take out Xu Huang first and Pang De second. Once they are defeated, your forces should have taken out most of the generals in the southwest. Also, by this time, the map should be cleared of all Wei generals except for Cao Ren. You can either defeat Cao Ren now and just end the stage or wait for Lu Meng to show up. Once Lu Meng shows up, Guan Yu will die if you're not playing him or will get pissed off at Lu Meng if you are playing him. This will add Lu Meng to the requirements to completing the stage. Also, Mi Heng and Fu Shi Ren will defect to Wu's forces and cause all sorts of problems. Defeat any Wu generals that show up and punish the defecters. You should take out Lu Xun before you fight Lu Meng. Lu Xun can be annoying if you're aiming for Lu Meng first. After Lu Xun is defeated, take out Lu Meng and then head inside Fan Castle. Cao Ren should be pretty much screwed as he should have no troops of his own and surrounded by a sea of green. Defeat Cao Ren to finish the stage. Battle of Yi Ling: 222 A.D. Shu forces vs. Wu forces Musou Wine: Close to the southwestern exit inside the Stone Sentinal Maze Dim Sum Shu forces: Defeat Gan Ning Dim Sum Wu forces: Defeat Zhuge Liang Shu forces: I believe most everyone for Shu starts off close to the western route. I don't think anyone starts off in the eastern route, but I could be wrong. Either way, make your way up the western route and start taking out generals. After you've run through Han Dang and Ding Feng's forces, head straight for Zhu Ran. By the time you get near him, he should lay down the bridge and start making his way towards the fire attack site. Ignore Gan Ning and Ling Tong. Allow Zhu Ran to cross the bridge, as he will be hard to catch if he's near Gan Ning and Ling Tong. He will run past his protectors and be an easy kill if he's past the bridge. Defeat him to stop the fire attack. Both Gan Ning and Ling Tong are in hyper mode, but they shouldn't be too much of a problem. After this, make your way towards Lu Xun. Defeat Sun Shang Xiang and Lu Xun. Sun Quan should order an ambush, but don't worry about them. They are too far away to do much of anything. Defeat Sun Quan to end the stage. Wu forces: Depending on which way you start, make your way towards the center by whatever route you are on. Try to clear out as many units as possible before the fire attack. Zhao Yun should be the biggest threat in the west while Ma Chao is the biggest threat in the east. Once Zhu Ran lays down the bridge, head straight for him. He tends to die if you're not around him, even if no enemies are also around him. Once he gets to the fire attack point, Lu Xun will set the Shu camp on fire and the enemy will retreat. Defeat any generals that didn't go inside the Stone Sentinal Maze and then make your own way through the maze. A real easy way of getting through the maze is by taking the western entrance to the maze. Take the first left when you are in the maze and continue along that path. You should come across a pot containing a Musou Wine. Take the next path right just after the Musou Wine. This should lead you out of the maze and into Liu Bei's camp. Defeat his sub generals and wait for Zhuge Liang to show up. Once he does, defeat him and whoever else he brings with him and then focus your attack on Liu Bei. Defeat Liu Bei to end the stage. Conquest of Nan Zhong: 225 A.D. Shu forces vs. Nanman forces Musou Wine: Entry point in the west near where Wei Yan starts Dim Sum Shu forces: Defeat Wu Tugu Dim Sum Nanman forces: Defeat Wei Yan Shu forces: This is probably my most favorite map. You first goal is to stop the beast units. To do this, take the attack base that is stopping Yue Ying from deploying her juggernauts. After the beast units are gone, defeat King Mulu. Meng Huo should appear from the hidden path. Defeat him for the first time. Also, you might want to make both of the hidden paths in the north appear, as it will help out a lot. To make the one in the northwest appear, enter the path south of the northwestern base. To make the one in the nort
