Sorted out contents table, Copyright, Emails, Version History, Controls and Characters. Added a walkthrough for Ellen's Campaign missions 1 and 2. Version 1.2 - Updated Ellen's section a bit, mission one to four are now in the walkthrough. Dont worry about mission 5, I'll write that part soon enough. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- [ 1.0 ] The Basics Seasoned players of KUF:Crusaders will probably skip this section, but new players may need help with the controls, and learning who the characters are, their weapons, their strengths, weaknesses, etc. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- [ 1.1 ] Controls Button Effect L/R - Change Troop R(Hold) - Enlarge MiniMap L(Hold) - Set Waypoints X - Fast Attack Y - Special Attack A - Strong Attack B - Evade/Counterattack X+A - Ground Attack White - Officers Ability/Close Formation Black - Officers Ability/Open Formation Left Stick - Move Cursor/Move Character Right Stick - Change Camera Angle Back - Bring up Mini map Start - Pause game D-Pad - Select Abilities -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- [ 1.2 ] Characters The voice acting in KUF:H might not be the best, in fact many people class it as being one of the worst, but if you can get past that the characters aren’t too bad. My personal favourite is Rupert, just because of his sheer power. Normally I like fast styled characters, but Rupert is the exception. There will be a combo list for each of the characters that I’ve put together, if you don’t see anything you know please send me an email and I will add it, and also recognise you for the addition. To understand the combos use the following legend: (L) - While moving the left thumb stick X,Y,A,B - Press X,Y,A, or B, e.g. XXA would be press X,X,A. After all of that we can actually get to playing the game. I recommend to use Ellen at first, then move on from there, seems as Ellen is the "tutorial campaign" -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- [ 2.1 ] Ellen's Campaign Mission one: West Of Arein You start off at the south west of the map, and you have to walk up to a castle, killing off anything on the way. Walk north, following the "path" You will encounter some Orc Infantry (Level 1), engage them and crack some skulls, not much tactics for this one, but use the fight to practise with Ellen, using her combos, etc. Watch out for the Orc on the back of some ugly creature, he’s their leader, and if you kill him first you wont get as much experience. After they are dead follow the path round to the west and walk your troops up to the north east and you’ve finished the first mission. On the world map you can save your game here by pressing start and selecting save game. Now to move onto mission two move your cursor to Arein. Watch or skip the little "cutscene" and select the highlighted things to advance. After youve done that move the cursor to Advance Base and press A. Go through this little bit and eventually you will be able to move onto mission two. Mission two: Arein inner Castle After the little scene with Rupert and Gerald you’re thrown straight into a fight. Mercilessly slaughter this lot of Orcs and proceed to the ones south east of your position. After they have been defeated attack the next lot that are southeast. After these are dead a cut scene with Gerald and Rupert kicked in, although there were still two lots of Orcs on screen. Maybe if you fight these two first you can get more experience, but it doesn’t really matter. After the cut scene run north and engage the scorpions. Run to the northernmost Scorpion and kill that first to save you health. Hit them in the mouth/front to damage them, using strong attack, and the X,X,A, combo to dispatch them quickly. A little tip is to use Ellen’s arrow attack to get rid of them without taking too much damage. After the Scorpions are dead you get a top up of health, now run down and kill any left over Orcs. You should get rid of these with relative ease. When they are all dead follow Gerald (by moving your cursor onto his troops and pressing A). When you get round the path you’ll realise there are 5 troops are Dark Fighters. Engage the closest lot to you and kick some ass. Try to find your own group to kill as you’ll get more experience. After you’ve killed a group or two some Wyverns will attack, and you’ll get a troop of Archers. Use your archers to kill the Wyverns, and keep pounding those D Fighters with Ellen. Press white on your archers to make them widen the firing area to hit more Wyverns. When the first lot of Wyverns is down more come, so keep shooting them with your archers. Don’t worry if you’re health gets low at this point, as I had about a quarter green and a half red. After the second lot of Wyverns is dead use your archers to help clear up the D Fighters. After they are all dead follow Gerald again. Oh my! An Ambush!!! Well don’t even worry about fighting, it’s your job to take care of the archers. Use your set of Archers and move them through the trees and into the position it tells you. once there a cool little cut scene of fire arrows cuts in. Enjoy it, then run your archers back round to the fight and set them up supporting Ellen. Clear up all remaining enemies and its Mission Accomplished. ===================================================== Move to Advance base and head to the Barracks. Definitely give your new Archers Holy, unless you plan on turning them into Mortars, but personally I prefer Longbowmen so they can heal my troops. Upgrade their range skill to around 7, and melee to three if possible, then change their job to longbowmen before buying any equipment. Upgrade Ellen’s melee skill, and leave Scout for now. Upgrade Ebbard (although don’t waste too much experience on him) and Paltor. ===================================================== Mission 3: Glaucus In this mission you have to find an Elf leader, but you dont know where they are! Start by walkting both troops north east. You will encounter some D Fighters (level 6) near the waters edge, on either the north or south bank. Engage them in melee and have your archers support, occasionally casting Curatio if your health drops too low. When the D. Fighters surrender run your troops away, but not too far. The leader of their troops will tell you where the Elf is, so after she's told you, kill her. Now press X and hold R. An arrow will point to the direction you have to go in, this varies for different people; one time I had to go south west, another time I had to go north east. When searching for the Elf engage all troops on your way, making sure your archers support, and Ellen fights melee. if your archers get engaged in melee run them through Ellens troops, and they wil attack Ellen, allowing your archers to support again. When you find the Elf she will follow your troops and provide magic support. You have to take her to a part of the map, generally the opposite to where you found her. Fight any troops you encounter, remembering to heal with your archers, and if they get stuck in melee run them through Ellen's troops. Use support abilites as much as you can, I had 4 Orc Infantries attacking, as well as two lots of D Archers. A little tip would be to put Ellen's troops next to the healing pole (the statue that is near the edge of the water) as that continously heals your troops. It also heals theirs, but they dont have someone to cast meteor ;) When you reach the part of the map your meant to be going to, the mission ends and its mission accomplished. the guide for this part has been a bit brief, seeing as its a bit more random on this mission than the rest. ===================================================== This will be your last chance to upgrade your troops for the next two missions, as you move back to Ecclesia. My advice here is to hire a mercenary at the Pub, look for one who looks like a mage, they will generally look lke an old guy in brown robes, or a brown hood. Go into the Barracks and highlight this new Officer. Press X to strip this character back to default. This should give you a good amount of EXP (depending on the level you bought him at) to change him to suit your needs. Now give your new Officer Fire up to level 5, and Melee up to level three for now. This will help A LOT later. ===================================================== Mission 4: For this mission bring your archers (which I turned into Longbowmen for this mission) and Ellen's troops (which were Heavy Infantry). Press left on the D-Pad and select Scout and press A on the map. This will send a scout, which can be very useful, out to search the area. If you send your scout (toggle troops by pressing L or R, but you knew that) up to the north west you'll find enemy Archers!! Now send your scout back to Ellen, the same way you'd do to get a troop to follow, and he will rejoin her troops. Now send Ellen west into the trees until you reach the edge of the map. Now send your archers straight to the healing pole. While your archers are running to the pole send Ellen's troops up to fight the first lot of Archers. When your archers make it to the pole get them to fire at the north lot of Archers. To get rid of Ellen's enemy archers, use the Sub-hero attack (the fire one) to wipe out half their troops. This is by far the most useful sub-hero skill when it comes to infantry. So remember it for later ;D When the archers are all dead you'll notice there are two troops of Knights to the north. The trick here is to lure them down one by one. You need position your archers so they can hit the knights and draw them down, and position Ellen just in front of the Archers to cut them off when they run in. After youve set your positions up, get your archers to fire on the most southern group of knights. Kill of these as quickly as possible. Now move your troops a bit to the north, so your archers can hit the second group of knights. Use the same tactic to dispatch these quickly and remember to use your sub-hero if youve got one (the fire guy owns all troops!) After both of these troops are dead, get your archers tofollow Ellen and cast curatio if you need it. walk Ellen up round the hill to the north east. A path to the north west is revelaed on the map, so start running up there. you find a guy called Gwen lying on the floor, move your troops to the green ring on the mini map to meet Gwen. turns out Gwen used to lead some Spearmen...but now he's dead, so if you find them their yours. Move your troops directly east to the glowing section on the map. Some enemy Infantry should attack you along the way, fight these off normally, try to conserve 200 sp for when you meet the ice maidens, seems as they are a real bitch. When the infantry are dead continue on to the glowing section. Before you get too far some Knights should also come along and try their luck. Crush them, crush them all!!! After theyre dead....more Knights! Take them out too. A couple more Knight troops should come, after their dead run Ellen and the archers up to the glowing area....at last. You should finally make it to the Ice Maidens, so get your archers firing on them, and run Ellen in to kill them too. When you engage them with Ellen use your fire sub-hero to do some well needed damage, and with Ellen just keep hitting at the same thing, they re-appear and dis-appear, and I honestly dont know how they work, but pound them and they should go down after a while. When the Ice Bitches are dead the spearmen join your party, so have them follow Ellen, and have the Archers follow the Spearmen. Run Ellens troops up to the north west corner of the map. Now from there walk all the troops east at the very north of the map, you will definately find the cave entrance along the way. Even after doing this mission three tmes I find it hard to find the cave, I think the positioning is random, so just go from the north west corner to the north east and youll find it. Dont get too happy with yourself, a cavalry attack stops you bvefore you can go into the cave. position your spearmen in front of Ellen asap, and just wear down the Cavalry, it should be too hard, and if you manage to get them into melee use Ellen to pound into them, I think they can only be hurt from the front, so hit the horses head to make sure. When theyre dead move your troops into the cave and its mission accomplished. ================================================== Save. Seriously, youll get so frustrated with the next mission your going to turn off the XBox in a mood at least twice, and you might have to throw your control at the wall a couple of times. _________________________________ // Copyright Ellis Simpson 2005 //
