Version History | \___________________________________________________________________________/ Version FINAL Submitted 7/6/03 At last! The walkthrough is complete! Apologies if I neglected this somewhat over the past few months. Anyway, remember that just because it's the final version doesn't mean that no more info will be added. I simply won't be doing any major overhauls, no large new sections etc. I will still make corrections, and add bits of info here and there that I may have missed out. Version 2.0 Submitted 1/5/03 I've added a Normal/Hard mode walkthrough, a much needed addition since I've been literally flooded with requests for this. I've also added Action Replay codes and arcade awards. This basically completes the FAQ for me, but I won't call it Final just yet because there are still some odds and ends that need polishing. Like Co-op notes and Arcade Awards. Version 1.0 Submitted 29/3/03 The first complete version of the FAQ! I consider it to be complete in that I have covered the entire game, but not necessarily in every difficulty. I completed both the Honorary and Elite Arcade Leagues this update, so now I can concentrate on writing guides for Story mode in Normal and Hard difficulties. Version 0.92 Submitted 25/3/03 OK, OK, I know I should finish the arcade league walkthroughs. However, this is only a small update with the addition of the long required Advance MapMaker walkthrough. Version 0.9 Submitted 2/3/03 I'm nearing version 1.0, and that means completion in at least one difficulty for every different mode. I've added a characters list and how to unlock levels. I hope these help! I'll try to get the Arcade League finished as soon as possible, but you must understand that it's very time consuming work. After that I'll get on with mission walkthroughs in Normal and Hard. Don't expect these too soon - I haven't even finished the game in Hard. Version 0.87 Submitted 28/2/03 This time I've added a much needed FAQ and a cheat list. Also cleared up some formatting problems. Hope you like how the guide's coming on! Version 0.85 Submitted 14/2/03 Aha! We're getting there! I am well on my way to completing this FAQ - it is certainly the most all-encompassing TimeSplitters 2, as it doesn't just cover the story. I'm rather proud of it, so I've added the challenges and changed the headings (they were _sooo_ messy before). Version 0.76 Submitted 30/1/03 This is such a minor update that it hardly seems worth mentioning, but I will anyway... I've added a quick walkthrough for the final mission, something I missed out in the last update, and I've added default character descriptions. Version 0.75 Submitted 12/1/03 Sorry! I haven't updated for ages (got too wrapped up in Xmas and other stuff to worry about FAQs). One thing you must remember is that I'm only a casual FAQ writer who does it as a hobby. I'm not like the FAQ veterans who work intensively all the time. What?! I'm talking too much? Oh well... I've added some contributed Honorary League arcade strategies, and walkthroughs to cover the whole game in easy - that means the guide is complete in Easy!!! (Throws party). There are some other additions too. Enjoy this juicy update! Version 0.42 Submitted 26/11/02 I was bored this afternoon after school, so having finished my ICT assignment I took advantage of the fact that I was in a typing mood to write up another mission walkthrough (Atom Smasher) and make some minor corrections to the FAQ. Oh yeah, and the FAQ can be found at cheathappens.com and (with reluctance) cheatcc.com. Version 0.4 Submitted 24/11/02 This is more like it! I've finally got down to the Arcade League, and it's complete in Amateur League. Still more work though! I have yet to finish the mission walkthroughs though... Version 0.27 Submitted 16/11/02 This is a very minor update - I've simply added the Wild West FAQ in easy and some TEMPORARY ASCII art at the top of the FAQ (I already have some better art, but due to formatting problems I can't put it up without going over the 79 characters per line limit). I apologise for the slow progress, I really can't devote as much time as I'd like to FAQ writing. Version 0.25 Initial release (submitted 10/11/02) I've done the story walkthrough in easy mode up to mission 5, and the usual guide stuff is included. However, there's plenty of work left to do (see "Coming Soon" for more details). I've also added a comprehensive mapmaker FAQ for those who are baffled by the poorly explained options. ___________________________________________________________________________ / \ | 1b. Introduction | \___________________________________________________________________________/ In my opinion TimeSplitters 2 is the best First Person Shooter ever made. About six months ago, it crossed my mind to make a FAQ for the game, and so I began my largest project thus far. At the time I was very inexperienced in handling ASCII, and in writing FAQs; the result was not what I consider to be particularly aesthetically pleasing. I therefore bring you this final, new edition of the FAQ, with (what I hope you agree is) a vastly improved, more original format. Almost everything piece of information relevant to the game has been documented herein, so please use this as a resource to aid you whenever you play TimeSplitters 2. If you notice anything that you think should be included, please notify me at the email address detailed at the top of the FAQ. Before you continue on to the main guide, I would like to take opportunity to thank you for using my FAQ, and I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I did making it. ~Super Nova ___________________________________________________________________________ / \ | 1d. Email Guide | \___________________________________________________________________________/ I've written a few guides now and I know that you need to be explicit to avoid stupid questions. Here is my list of golden rules for email writing: 1: Never, ever send me spam. Any kind of inappropriate or junk mail will go straight to the trashcan, your address will be filtered and if I deem it necessary, further action will be taken. 2: I always write correctly and politely, with no grammar or spelling mistakes. I expect the same from you. I'm fed up with seeing this: "gimme any chets 4 [insert badly spelt game name here] tanks" or "i cant fnish mssion 7 tel me how plz" I'm going to disregard this kind of mail in future, so please make an effort. 3: If you can, check that what you need to know is in the FAQ. I'll probably help you even if it is, but it saves me time if you find what you need to know in the guide before emailing me. READ THE FAQ BEFORE ASKING A QUESTION! 4: Watch your size. I have a Hotmail account, and the limit is 2 MB for my inbox. Don't clog it up, please. Between 1 and 20k is fine, but no higher if possible. 5: Finally, please put the subject as "TimeSplitters 2" so I can check at a glance what your email's about. If you follow these guidelines I will happily reply. Oh, if you want to speak to me over AIM my screen name is SpNov3. Don't speak to me over MSN - I use that privately. If you add me, I'll probably block you. ___________________________________________________________________________ / \ | 1e. Basic Techniques | \___________________________________________________________________________/ Successful Strafing: Using the strafe technique successfully is the key to survival in this game, and it helps dodge bullets. A good idea if you only have one enemy against you is to strafe in a circle around him/her/it while shooting. They will find it hard to hit you, but successful coordination of the C-stick and control stick will mean that you should be able to aim well enough. Against multiple enemies it is harder. If they are all in one place you should strafe left and right while facing them and firing (hopefully with some kind of machine gun). You run the risk of being hit, but less than if you were stationary. If they are in different areas on various sides of you I advise diving for cover (see below). Finding Cover: If you are surrounded by enemies, the worst thing you can do is stay there and try to kill them all. Instead, retreat to a nearby wall or crate, and crouch if necessary. If they can no longer see you, they will come round, and you can easily kill them since they will be in the same place. Other times this will not be possible, so find cover that at least partially protects you. A good example of this is in O'Leary's bar (Chicago) where, on Normal or higher, gangsters come in from all directions and blast you. In this situation you should crouch behind the bar, rising regularly to shoot opponents until they are all dead and you have taken minimum damage. If you find yourself being sniped by enemies you can't see, run and continue the mission - standing around looking for them will only result in getting seriously hurt, and even if you do eventually spot them they will have hurt you too much to make it worthwhile. "Peeping": The technique I call "peeping" involves strafing very gently round a corner, so that hopefully you can snipe enemies who can't see you. There is not much to say about this, other than that it is very useful in most situations. Window Panes (no pun intended): You can take care of many enemies by shooting them in the head through the window pane of a door or simply through a window. Usually they won't even notice you until they're dead. It should be noted that any enemy not facing your direction will not notice you until you get really close. ___________________________________________________________________________ / \ | 2c. Default Characters | \___________________________________________________________________________/ These are descriptions of all the default characters in the game (i.e. ones that you will have unlocked from the beginning). She has found her servo enhanced Tritium Exo-Arm to be a very useful aid in combat situations. Isla Nadir: Daughter of Dr. Ketje Nadir, Isla knows no fear and will gladly undertake even the most dangerous search and destroy missions. Few men can come close to her superb fighting and infiltration skills. Gregor Lenko: Gregor Lenko "The Russian Bear" is one half of a crack military team working for a covert international consortium. Along with Isla Nadir he is sent on assignments that would cause lesser men to quake with fear. Jake Fenton: Jake has been battling bribery and corruption ever since Big Tony came to town. Tony lost him his badge and had him run out of town, but now he's back working for Lady Jane's Agency and is looking to settle the score. Lady Jane: This hot blooded socialite skipped Swiss finishing school to create her own Private Investigation Agency in Chicago. A stickler for fashion you'll never catch her with anything but the latest in haute couture and semi-automatic weapons. Viola: The child of a reclusive aristocrat Countessa, Viola assumes the guise of a traveling troubadour as a cover for her true mission - to destroy evil wherever there is its ugliness. Mr. Underwood: Mr. Underwood has debunked table-rappers and fake mystics all over England. Reports of true supernatural phenomena has brought him to Paris. He has joined forces with the lady Viola to share inelegance in the battle against Jacque de la Morte. Hank Nova: Some guys just have it - and Hank's one of them. He's seen things you people wouldn't believe - attack ships on fire of the shoulder of... well, whatever. A leaner, meaner, and more square jawed hero never graced the space operatic stage. Candi Skyler: Candi graduated from cadet training just two weeks ago. Although there has been cheap talk around the academy that she failed Astronavigation but got dispensation because she has a cute butt. Ghost: The coolest CyberJock in the Tek quarter, Ghost can hack an AI CORE in milliseconds. When he declined Sadako's offer to join her gang, she planned a bitter revenge. Now he's been framed for a crime he did not commit and the NeoTokyo police are on his tail. Chastity: Before becoming a highly decorated officer in the LAPD, Chastity ran with the gangs in the back streets of NeoTokyo. She has vowed to help Ghost clear his name and regain his honour. Elijah Jones: Elijah is Peekaboo Jones' great great grandpappy. His life as a bounty hunter began at the age of 16 when he saw his parents gunned down in cold blood by cattle rustlers. Since that day his mission has been to confront injustice wherever he finds it. Ramona Sosa: Ramona came over the border hoping for a peaceful life but with her fiery temper and quick reflexes, she quickly fell into work as a law enforcer. When things became to turn sour in Little Prospect she sent the wire out to her old friend Elijah Jones for backup. Harry Tipper: The crime busting skills of ex-New York vice cop Harry Tipper are now employed in the fight against international supervillians. This time he's got a licence to chill - nice tux Harry! Kitten Celeste: Sometimes things get too hot under the collar for Harry and he needs some manual assistance from his slinky sidekick, Miss Celeste. Go get 'em tiger. Grrrrrrr! Captain Ash: Adventure extraordinaire Captain Ash's exploits has carried him to the four corners of the earth. He is always accompanied by the most glamorous assistances and never averts to stopping for a spot of afternoon Tiffin. Just to keep the pecker up you understand - tally ho! Jungle Queen: Raised in the jungle by wolves, the Jungle Queen's sharp intellect is only hampered by her tight thong and lack of language. Captain Ash has promised to make her a duchess if she comes back to Blighty with him. Gretel Mk II: Gretel II is a second-generation precision killing machine programmed with stealth and martial arts techniques from around the galaxy. Together with R-109, she has been sent to destroy the Machinist's robot army. R-109: An upgrade to the now outdated R-108, R-109 is a war robot built for heavy-duty combat. His reasons for destroying the Machinist are more personal than his partner Gretel II; R-109 wants revenge for his fallen comrades killed in the Machine Wars. Monkey: It's a monkey. Nikolai: Nikolai is a little too curious for his own good. He's always telling Sgt. Shivers that he knows best and that he can sort out whatever is going on in the secret base under the Dam. Private Grass: Private Grass is a hardworking grunt in the regular force. Sergeant Shivers: Sgt. Shivers really doesn't like working at Oblask Dam. It's all a bit spooky and he's fed up with Nikolai calling him a scaredy cat. Sergeant Wood: Sgt. Wood is an upstanding officer in the Regular Force. Lieutenant Frost: Lt. Frost is an accomplished curling champion. She practices on the frozen lake behind the Dam. Lieutenant Bush: Lt. Bush used to get into trouble with her superiors because of her unruly hair. Now she follows their advice and keeps it neatly trimmed. Trooper White: Trooper White is a promising soldier in the Arctic Force. Trooper Green: Trooper Green's gasmask is a great help with his hayfever on summer operations. Captain Snow: Capt. Snow is the leader of the Arctic Force. Sometimes the cold climate makes his earpiece malfunction. Captain Forest: Capt. Forest is the well respected chief of the Regular Force. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* * TIMESPLITTERS 2 * * 3. Frequently Asked Questions * *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Every FAQ needs a FAQ, so here it is. Please check it before emailing me. Question: What is TimeSplitters 2? Answer: It is the continuation of the critically acclaimed PS2 original, with just as much multiplayer fun, although it is not really linked in any way to the first one. Q: What, so if the original was on PS2 why is there a GameCube version? A: As I said, this is totally independent of the first one and Eidos decided to let us have this as well. All the better for us GameCube owners! Q: What are the cheats for this game? A: SEE GUIDE! NOW! (I have been asked this many times). And no, there are NOT any button codes. Q: I am in possession of the PS2/XBOX version. Please help me... A: I'm not interested in what you have to say. I'm fed up answering questions about other console versions of the game. This is for GameCube ONLY! See ACA's guide if you have a PS2 or XBOX. Q: I'm stuck on the Aztec level in Normal/Hard. I can't get past the golden door and your FAQ says it isn't there. A: Yes, in Normal and Hard there is a puzzle you have to solve. The columns in the area where the monkey throws melons at you has a combination that opens the door. Activate the columns to spin them and solve the puzzle. Each column has four white pictures on it, each one which needs to be facing the same picture on another column. Here is a crude diagram to show you what I mean, where # is a column and other symbols are drawings. #& &#! !#% %# $ * @ + $ * @ + #^ ^#) )#( (# Q: I noticed that the bots in multiplayer do slides and cartwheels. How do you do these somersaults yourself? A: Tragically, there is no way of achieving this yourself. It's no part of the game. Q: I can't do this and it isn't in your FAQ: . A: You haven't got it from GameFAQs! I can guarantee that they will have the latest version. Other sites may not, but that isn't my fault. Get it from GameFAQs and if you don't and send me an email like this I'll ignore you. Q: Help me on this Arcade league mission: . A: I have covered every Arcade mission, including the strategy I used to finish it. If you still can't do it please don't email me for help - I can't say any more than what is in the walkthrough. Tell me your specific problem and I may be able to give some tips, but I can do no more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* * TIMESPLITTERS 2 * * 4. Easy Mode Walkthrough | \___________________________________________________________________________/ Mission 1: 1990 SIBERIA - Oblansk Dam ------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Deactivate the communications dish *Investigate the secret digging site *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Destroy the biohazard container *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *Burn all the evidence Briefing: A secret research facility under a Siberian dam has unearthed preserved organic specimens which are over ten thousand years old. Following a number of mysterious accidents, the original scientific team has left the site and a Russian military garrison has been assigned to the excavation project. Intelligence has revealed that the military's attempts to develop biological weaponry from the finds have had dreadful results. They must not be allowed to continue this research. Although biohazard defence forces are on their way, there is an opportunity to investigate the base and destroy the sample research records before they arrive. The base is currently under lockdown - the perimeter guards are jumpy and automated security systems have been engaged. Avoid the cameras, if necessary they can be switched off or destroyed. Cutting off the communications uplink should buy some time to explore the base more fully. Quick Walkthrough: -Collect sniper and pistol. -Run to courtyard and up steps behind large building. -Use walkway to get mines from small building roof. -Open door in 2F of big building and throw mine at dish (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go to dam and ascend stairs to the top. -Run down corridor shutting off three valves in side rooms. -Go down stairs on other side of dam. -Enter building. -Follow path to checkpoint. -Go up to control centre and open door. -Follow rocky corridor to digging site (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Collect Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Throw mines on Biohazard Container (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Run to Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: You'll start off in a tunnel, so go forward and take the sniper rifle and the silenced pistol. Using your sniper, aim upwards towards the balcony and zoom in to the maximum. You should see a guard standing in front of a door, so aim at his head and pull the trigger. Now look up and right (still with the sniper rifle) and you'll see a camera. When you can see the lens, shoot it to destroy it. Now run out into the open and aim up at the balcony. There will be another guard up there shooting at you, but his accuracy is terrible so dispatch him with your sniper. Now take out your silenced pistol and look over to the fences opposite the tunnel. A guard will be standing between two huts, shooting at you, but it only takes a couple of shots to kill him. Walk up to his body and turn left, round the big house and up some steps on the exterior. At the top will be some sniper ammo from the guy you killed. Collect it and open the door to find yourself in a small control center. Go up to the far end of the room and activate the panel to open the door to the dam, then go out of the room and right along the planks. At the end is a hole in a roof. Fall through it and collect some mines on a shelf. Exit the house, climb the steps again and throw a mine onto the roof, near the satellite. When it explodes, the satellite dish will be blown away, and one objective will be complete. Explore the houses in this area a bit now. The one behind the big two story building contains sniper rifle ammo, and two others contain filing cabinets. In these houses open the cabinets with the activate button and throw a mine onto the cabinet. Get out of there, and soon afterwards you will be rewarded with the message "4 or 3 filing cabinets remaining". Go down by the side of the large building and go down the lower area and enter the dam. Inside the dam there is no power, so you will not be able to take the elevator. Run up the stairs on the left, through the small corridor and up the next flight of steps. Here is steam coming out of a pipe in the wall. Crouch and go under where the steam is at its highest point and go under it then continue to ascend. Two flights of steps later is a guard, so have your pistol at the ready and pop him. He shouldn't even notice you for long enough to hurt you. Yet two more flights higher is another guard, this time with his back to you. Take out your fists and punch him in the back to knock him out then run up the final three flights of steps to reach the highest point of dam you can reach in easy mode. Opposite where you emerge is a door with a window. Stand about two steps from it and take out your sniper rifle. Aim through the small opening and pop the guard you can see. Then enter and go left through the opening. In here is a pipe with a wheel on it. Activate the wheel to set the steam pressure at 66%. Then collect the Soviet and the armour which is on the shelf behind you. Two more guards will confront you, so use your pistol to kill them. Now make your way down the corridor, entering the next two side rooms to turn the wheel and reduce the steam pressure to 0%. Now the steam at the end of the corridor will be turned off, and you can exit on the other side. Descend the steps, and after three flights take out your pistol and kill a guard. On the next flight down is some sniper ammo, so collect that and descend the last five flights of steps, hindered by just one guard who you should punch in the back. At the bottom is a door and a switch on the right. Press it to open the door then exit the dam. Go up the small flight of steps, then run left along the side of the building, shooting the guard up ahead on the way. Turn right and right again to see a camera which will set off the alarm. Take out your soviet and turn the next corner and shoot the guard here. Three more will soon come to you, but the automatic fire of the Soviet means that they are no threat. When they are dead, enter the building (you will get the message "time crystal located"). Go down the corridor and enter the chamber with bookcases with melons (!) on them. Behind a pillar is a guard you should kill. If you want it, there is a mini game on the bookcase on the left. Descend the staircase at the far end of the room. At the bottom turn left and open the door on your right. Don't go through the double-doors on the left - they lead to a useless shower-room. Don't go into the room whose door you just opened - aim straight ahead and blast the guard there. Now go into the small room and look left. Open the filing cabinet and place a mine on it (two cabinets remaining) then move on. Walk right up to the top of the stairs opposite and turn left. You'll see two filing cabinets, so open them and give them a mine each to finish your secondary objective. Now descend the stairs for a checkpoint. Walk down the second flight of steps then skirt the two large wooden panels and blast the guard you see up ahead. Turn right 90 degrees to see another. Kill him too then look back at the other guard's body to spot a third opponent. When all the enemies are dead climb the steps to the right of where you entered. Open the door and enter another small control center. Activate the switch on the far wall then shoot one of the panes of glass out and step back into the main room. You'll notice that the door opposite where you first entered is now open, so go down it. You'll see a body on the floor. Zombie? Yup. Turn around and shoot its head off. There is armour and grenades in the room to the right and another zombie further down the corridor. Kill it and enter the third room on the right (the other's locked) to find another zombie and some ammo. Now head down to the end of the corridor to complete another objective (investigate excavation site) then walk forward and collect the time crystal on the floor (another objective off the list). There are also two zombies here, but for a person of your skills that is no problem. You'll then be told to destroy the container; to do so chuck about five mines on the glass box on the right then run away to finish your final objective. The time portal will be activated, so go back up the corridor and enter it to complete the mission. Mission 2: 1932 CHICAGO - Downtown ---------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Rendez-vous with your informant *Obtain the membership card *Eliminate Big Tony *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Stop Tony's brother from escaping *NEW OBJECTIVE: Protect Marco the Snitch *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *Drain three whiskey barrels Briefing: Big Tony's operations have got a little out of hand! It seems his mob isn't content with running bootleg liquor and the usual protection rackets. Word on the street is that Tony has knocked off a shipment of priceless gemstones and he's bringing his brother in to expand operations. He isn't counting on a hard boiled detective like Jake Fenton showing up... Tony's hiding out in the Sunrise Club, an exclusive - his goons don't like strangers showing up unannounced so you'll need a membership card. Marco the Snitch should be able to help you out. Quick Walkthrough: -Jump down from balcony. -Enter warehouse. -Go through warehouse to street. -Activate phone in booth. -Shoot car when it comes round the corner (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Follow street until you meet Marco (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Follow Marco to house, protecting him (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Take pass in house (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Continue down street to gate leading to Sunrise Club. -Enter club and go to large room. -Kill Big Tony (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Collect Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: Once you start, go onto the balcony on your right and walk right to the end of it. You'll see a guard walking with his back to you down by the boat. Wait for him to stop then take aim with your rifle and pop him in the head. Then drop down through the opening in the railing and collect some sniper ammo on a box-top before getting off the boat and going to collect the dead guy's ammo. Turn left up some steps and turn left again. Another gangster will spot you, so kill him. Then look at the barrel on your right labelled "O'Leary's". Shoot it right at the bottom so that it empties completely (1 of 3 barrels emptied). Now go up the stairs and look through the window ahead. Using your sniper, get a head shot on the guy standing guard below you. Then turn the corner and descend more steps. Opposite you is another barrel - shoot that too (2 of 3 barrels emptied). Behind you is and opening and a guard standing with his back to you. Shoot him in the head and exit the docks. Out on this street is a ringing telephone booth to your right. Go over to it and press the action button to receive a phone call from Marco. He'll tell you to meet him by the news stand down the main street. Walk down the street, catching the Tommy gun-wielding guard in the opening on the right unawares. Collect his gun and walk a little further. A car will suddenly pull out in front of you - immediately blast away at it with your Tommy gun. Hopefully, when your clip is empty, the car will lose a wheel and veer out of control. This finishes an objective for you (stop Tony's brother). Further down the street, near bar called "O'Leary's", is an opening on the right containing sniper and Tommy gun ammo, as well as some much needed armour. There is also the final barrel which you should drain (secondary objective complete). Ignore the bar and turn the next corner. On the left is a stand, and near it is Marco the Snitch. Walk up to him and he'll start walking away. You'll need to protect him now. Look ahead and shoot a guard, then turn around and shoot another behind you. Another one will appear in front of Marco, and soon afterwards one will be behind you. Kill them all before they hurt Marco. When you turn the corner look up immediately to see a sniper on a balcony. Kill him straight away. Marco will walk a little more (why does he have to be slow?) then he'll tell you to "get inside" and will walk up to a small room. Look to the right and shoot another of Tony's men then follow him into the room and, as per his instructions, take the pass on the table on the left. This will complete two objectives - get the pass and protect Marco. Follow the road and you'll see a large building with the sign "HOTEL" on it a little further ahead. A gangster will appear on the right side, so take him out, collect his ammo and turn around. Behind you is his friend - give him the same treatment. Look down behind him with your sniper rifle and take out the guy behind some glass further down the road. Then activate the gate on your left to enter Big Tony's club. From where you enter shoot two guards across the courtyard and walk through the gateway they were guarding. You will be told that the time crystal has been located, so walk through this restaurant area then exit on the other side. Go through the door with the sign "members only". Kill the guard you see on the right, then drop down between the steps and the wall for some armour. Now open the doors to enter the Sunrise Club, where Tony resides. Walk forward to the reception area and a gangster will rush forward to confront you. Kill him then walk around a wooden partition on the left to get two Tommy guns. Walk through the small hall and a kill a goon dressed in white who will shoot from around a corner up ahead. Go through the room with a pillar then enter the large room. There will be some dialogue, but you should ignore it and run up the stairs ahead of you. Turn left - Big Tony will be standing there, so empty your clips into him then collect the crystal by his body. Turn around and blast the scourge splitter then exit through the time portal. Mission 3: 1895 NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL ------------------------------------ Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Rescue the maidens *Retrieve the time crystal *Eliminate Jacque de la Morte *NEW OBJECIVE: Kill the Portal Demon *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through Time Portal Secondary Objectives:- *NEW OBJECTIVE: Help the Hunchback get the maiden to safety Briefing: Night falls on the Ile de Cite and another Parisienne screams within the cold stone walls of Notre Dame. The rivermen talk of a crazed madman leading a cult of undead followers. Who is this Jacque de la Morte? What devils does he worship? And what black magic does he wield? You must release the damsels in distress from the dark vaults and make your way through the Cathedral to confront Jacque. But hurry! - the full moon signals another Black Mass and who knows what demons might be summoned within Our Lady's hallowed halls? Quick Walkthrough: -Walk through sewer to lever and pull it. -Continue hallway with stream. -Go through small tunnel and activate second lever. -Ascend steps to wine cellar and go through it. -Go to crypt and rescue three maidens in the area. -Follow path to church hall and go to far hallway on the right. -Climb staircase and pull rope to lower maiden. -Descend again and help hunchback protect maiden. -Let them leave (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Collect Time Crystal at far end of room (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter now-open door and climb to higher galleries of church. -Kill Portal Demon (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Continue to rooftop. -Kill Jacque de la Morte (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: From where you start turn right around the corner and left around the next one. A zombie will come ambling towards you, so take aim and blast its head off. Walk up to the body on the floor and it will rise. Blast its head off too. Go forwards and you will see a path to your left and some ammo. Take the ammo and go left. At the far end of the room is a lever you should activate. Immediately turn, as a zombie will be coming towards you. When its head hits the floor turn left into a sewer-like hallway through a gap in the wall. Another zombie will greet you, so shoot it and head down the circular hallway and pull the lever on the left to open another grate. On the other side is a zombie - kill him - and some steps. Ascend them and shoot the zombie who spawns halfway up. Don't forget the armour lying on the floor either. Now ascend the spiralling staircase and enter the wine room at the top. Collect the ammo in front of you and walk to the other end of the room. Stay well away from the barred doorway - a moment or two later it blasts open and flaming zombies rush into the room! Stay well away from them (catching fire kills you). Eventually they will burn to death. Go through the open doorway and you'll find yourself in a crypt. There is ammo on the floor and a chained maiden up ahead. Go up to her but DON'T RELEASE HER! There are zombies around (like the one on the left right now) who would kill her. Eliminate the zombie on the left then turn back to the maiden. Take a moment to admire her ample bust then free her with the action button. No turn the corner and you'll see another one chained up ahead. There is also ammo on the floor and armour in the cell on the left (shoot the lock to get it). Then go up to the maiden and decapitate the two zombies who appear on the right. Rescue her and turn the next corner. Kill the sewer zombie further ahead and start climbing the small flight of steps on the right. A crypt zombie will come down, so kill it first. Then climb the next flight of steps and kill another crypt zombie before entering the church itself (you'll get the message "time crystal located"). Look up to the ceiling - a girl is chained up there. Before you rush to her rescue kill the two undead priests who appear to be praying amongst the seats. They leave you Luger ammo. Further up from the seats is the time crystal on a pedestal. Collect it to finish that objective. Now go over to the door at the opposite end of the church. Kill the undead priest along the way and collect the armour inside the small room at the other end of the church. Then turn right and down the corridor to a 2x Luger wielding undead priest. Grab the guns and run up the spiralling staircase. At the top is another undead priest and two ropes. Pull either to lower the damsel in distress to safety. Then go back down to her - the hunchback (as in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame") will help you fight off a few zombies (eight in total) which now appear. When you've fought them off he'll thank you profusely and you'll complete another objective (rescue all maidens). Now follow the hunchback and the maiden all the way down to the sewers, then leave them out of sight for a minute. When you return you'll find some shotgun ammo and your secondary objective will be complete. Return to the church and go through the door opposite where you enter. You'll come to a spiralling staircase with some armour at the bottom and some ammo halfway up. You will then come to a small room with a cross in it, and a doorway at the other end. Go through and you will face the portal daemon (new objective: kill the portal daemon). There is shotgun ammo on both sides of the balcony if you need it. To kill the daemon aim at its head and shoot continuously, occasionally stopping to dodge the red laser stuff he launches at you. When he dies exit through the door on the other side of the balcony. There is armour through here (do you really need it?!) and another door which leads onto the roof of the cathedral. Out here you'll be confronted by three undead priests and a scourge splitter. Finally, Jacque de la Morte appears, declaring that you can never kill him. Prove him wrong by pumping a few shotgun shells into him to end his devil worshipping antics. Then turn around and exit through the time portal. Mission complete! Mission 4: 2280 RETURN TO PLANET X ---------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Locate the crashed UFO *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Repel the beach attack *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Briefing: There's been a lot of UFO activity in the Gamma sector - the Academy has traced their telemetry to Planet X. The Ozor and Meezor Mox have been battling to gain control of the planet for some time now and we suspect that factions are constructing ships and launching them from a subterranean base. Wing Commander Hank Nova's patrol has engaged the alien ships just inside the planet's atmosphere. Perhaps it's time to take a trip down to the surface and see what you can find out. This will be a tricky mission, but the fighting between the Mox can be used to your advantage. Remember the Ozor and Meezor hate each other more than they hate you! Don't be afraid to fight for one side or the other as long as it helps you get closer to the base! Quick Walkthrough: -Collect gun and jump through hole. -Follow path to beach. -Use guns to repel attack (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter previously closed path. -Go through insect canyon. -Continue to open area with UFO (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Fight then enter it. -Take Time Crystal from outer rim of interior (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: Immediately run forwards when the mission starts and collect your sci-fi handgun. Then turn left and drop down through the hole there. It will prevent you from taking too much damage from the UFO shooting at you. Down here you should take the right path, blasting the green alien you see, then go right through a gap in the wall. From here go right, and kill the alien that appears in front of you. Take the weapon part behind it and go left. You will need to kill a sniper on a bridge in front of you and another alien who appears in front of you suddenly. Turn the corner, fall down the hole and collect the armour in front of you. You'll find yourself in a large "beach"; go to the edge and a raiding party will appear in the form of three UFOs. Behind you is a mounted gun - press the action button in front of it and get ready for a big battle. You'll be told to repel the beach attack, so use R to aim and kill all the aliens that appear. There are approximately 15 that you have to kill, and remember that they sometimes sneak up on you from behind. When the attack is over go out and collect all their ammo - you should get the awesome plasma autorifle. The gate previously blocked by lasers will open once you finish the objectives, so go through it. There is some autorifle ammo and the gun (in case you didn't get it) as well as an unarmed Mox (kill him if you feel cruel; otherwise ignore him completely). You'll come to a circular canyon with a lot of weird insects in it. Just run through them - trying to kill them will result in the loss of a lot of health. All you have to do here is shoot their nests to kill a few of them then run through an opening on the right. There is some armour here. You'll soon find a large open area with a spaceship (locate the crashed UFO: Complete). Using your autorifle shoot the aliens attacking the ship, and soon some rival aliens will get out and help you. When the attackers are dead (tick off another objective) kill them before they kill you. Then enter the teleporter to enter the UFO. Inside, go right and up through the large gap to get into the outer rim of the craft. A TimeSplitter will appear - kill it and walk clockwise to a small chamber containing the crystal. Then exit through the same gap and go into the time portal. Mission 5: 2019 NEOTOKYO - Tek Quarter -------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Follow the Hacker to the research area *Deactivate the TimeSplitter machine *Kill the Hacker Chief *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Briefing: Sadako's hacker gang have stolen a prototype Cyber Rig from the government research labs. Rumour is that the rig incorporates some kind of alien biomatter and is powered by crystal lattice energy. Faked computer records, which the hackers planted at the labs, framed Ghost for the break-in and now police are crawling over the Tek quarter looking for him. The only way for Ghost to clear his name is to tail one of the hackers to their secret research area and gather evidence of their activities. Quick Walkthrough: -Follow hacker, dodging cameras and collecting ammo (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter base through open laser grid and turn off cameras in small room. -Use last camera to obtain code then use it to open door. -Go to big room and switch off machine (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Run after and kill Sadako then collect Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal at the end of the street (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: Wasn't that Matrix meets Bruce Lee style battle on the train really cool? Anyway, you've arrived at Maru station, so follow the hacker (Krayola). Keep a fair distance - say, six feet, but don't lose her. She'll turn the corner, then go left up the steps. She will then descend some flights of steps - be careful here. If you are at the top of the stairs when she descends the second flight she will see you and it will be mission failed. At the bottom are glass displays containing pistol and sniper rifle ammo. Smash the glass with your fists to avoid getting hurt, but make sure the hacker isn't too near when you do. She will then go into the street - be careful, there are cameras here. Use your uplink to make sure that they don't spot you. She crosses the road, so follow in her footsteps - that guarantees that the cameras won't see you. From the station she goes right down the main street, across the road, left into the next street and left again into a side alley. Here she descends into the entrance to the hackers' base. On the way is some armour behind some glass - be sure to collect it. If you follow her carefully she shouldn't see you. Follow her through this tunnel until she gets to a blue laser grid. Another hacker will let her in. When they are both a fair distance down the corridor rush into the little room on the left (if you wait too long you get locked out). Go to the panel and look through the third camera, having switched the other two off. Wait until you see her type on the laptop, and you'll finish the objective (get the codes to open the door). Turn off this camera too then go into the corridor. Sneak up on the hacker standing guard and punch him (her?) in the back. Go forwards to the room with the laptop and activate it. The door will open and you'll reach a checkpoint. Go through the door you just opened and shoot a hacker in the back. Two more will quickly appear, so kill them too. Then go down the corridor and enter the room straight ahead. On the left when you enter are some lockers; activate the one on the left and you'll find the SBP90 machine gun. There is also some armour in the room. Now exit and turn left. You'll see some windows and a door on the right. Enter it. At the other end of this room is a machine with a TimeSplitter on it. To the right of the machine is a switch. Activate it and complete another objective. Then Sadako will appear behind you, so use your SBP90 to blast her. She'll cloak herself and run away, but you can follow her silhouette, blasting away with your machine gun. Soon she'll die and leave you the time crystal. Collect it and go out into the street (many hackers attack you, but your SBP90 should make short work of them). From the entrance to the base go through to the main street and left to the bridge, where the time portal awaits you. Mission 6: 1853 WILD WEST - Little Prospect ------------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Rescue Ramona from jail *Eliminate The Colonel *Retrieve the Time Crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Put out the fire and rescue the girl *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *Destroy the Wanted posters of Ramona and clear her name. Briefing: The good people of Little Prospect live in terror of The Colonel - a megalomaniac deserter from the Confederate army who likes to shoot first and ask questions later. He slandered the local law lady, Ramona Sosa, by putting a false bounty on her head. Now she's slammed up in gaol 'cos folks round these parts just don't seem to know right from wrong anymore. But grizzled bounty hunters like Elijah Jones aren't easily put off the trail - The Colonel's a wanted man and there's a reckoning a-comin'. They say he's holed up in the old mine works where he's a-digging fer something more valuable than gold, something that ain't quite natural... Quick Walkthrough: -Walk down street to Sheriff's Office and go to courtyard behind it. -Push cart up to wall and shoot it to rescue Ramona (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go through newly opened doorway and follow next street up to the burning barn. -Go inside and shoot barrels (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Walk down to the mine and push the cart. -Enter the big open area and shoot The Colonel (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go through busted hole across rails and get Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: Walk to the wall opposite where you start after the cutscene then turn left and look up with your sniper rifle zoomed in. There's a guy walking around on the roof of the General Store, but he won't notice you so just kill him. Then round the next corner and another guy will come out of the Saloon. Shoot him with your rifle (don't bother aiming) then strafe right, facing left around the next corner. Zoom in with your rifle and pop the guard you see up ahead in the head. Then enter the saloon and go into the corridor behind the bar and follow this path up to the rooftops. From here you can access the whole street on a higher level. Cross over to the General Store balcony and get the ammo left by the first guard you killed. Drop down to the street below and head for the Sheriff's office opposite. On the left of the entrance is a wanted poster, so tear it off. Then enter the office and take the second right to get to the prison cells. Behind you is a case containing gunpowder - you don't need it in Easy but collect it for fun. Then go over to Ramona's cell and she'll tell you to get her out. Exit the office and turn left down the alley next to it. You'll emerge in a courtyard with a tower at one end. Immediately when you enter the courtyard look up and, with your sniper rifle, kill the guard/sniper up there before he can react. Then head through the archway on the left and you'll find yourself behind the prison cells. Pushed up against the wall is a cart loaded with dynamite. Hmmm... It's almost too easy. Just shoot the crates on the cart to blow up the wall and free Ramona. Alternatively, use the gun powder to lay a trail over to some crate at the other side of the courtyard. Shoot the crates and the cart will explode. Either way, stand well back and you'll have an objective ticked off. Humbly accept Ramona's thanks (what, I don't even get a kiss?!) and turn around to confront two baddies. Use your garrett to deal with them, and don't let Ramona get shot. Exit out onto the street and go right over to where it says "buy a horse". Go left from there into the next road and, with the help of your garrett, dispatch a guard on the left hand side of the street. Then take out your rifle and shoot the sniper up ahead. Look on the right side and kill two more guards who should be there by now. You will now hear a plea for help from a hot (literally) girl in a burning barn. Enter it and climb the stairs. Look up and you'll see barrels above the blaze; shoot them to put it out and receive congratulations from the girl ("Mah hero!"). Further down the road is a sniper in a window of a building. Show him and his friend (behind a window the opposite side of the street) who the real sniper is with your vintage rifle. On the building next to the bank is another poster of Ramona. Tear it off then turn the corner to reach a checkpoint. Use your garrett to dispatch the next guard and take his 2x garretts. Up ahead is a building with two enemies. One is hiding behind the corner and the other is in the window. Use your sniper to kill them both. Then run up the house to tear another poster off the wall to finish the objective. The steps leading up are behind the house. Finally, you can enter the mine. Go forward and run into the cart to set it moving. Then look at the little niche on your right and you'll notice some much-needed armour. Follow the cart into the open area and you'll get some dialogue. Just run up the left path and shoot at the fleeing figure. This is The Colonel. Follow him into the small hut and shoot him there. Camp out here as several more of his men come and attack you then leave. There may still be some more standing around - just kill them, they're no threat (to help you there are ten enemies here, including The Colonel). There is ammo and armour scattered about if you need it, mostly in the huts. When the coast is clear go back to where you first entered the area and run along the tracks that lead to an entrance forced open by the cart. In here, a little while down the tunnel, is the Time Crystal. Collect it and leave again, dropping down to the walkways and entering the Time Portal to exit the level. Mission 7: 1972 ATOM SMASHER - Khallos Island --------------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Defuse the four bombs *Eliminate Khallos *Activate the reactor *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *Minimise scientist casualties Briefing: Mr. Khallos has been trying to take over the world again. His secret island houses a state of the art atom smasher. Who knows what his terror organisation could do with the unleashed power of subatomic particles? Does Khallos even know himself? Only the most suave and daring international playboy could escape from Khallos' clutches and foil his twisted plans - Special Agent Harry Tipper is such a man. Be careful though! This criminal genius is so evil that he would blow up his own island and particle accelerator rather than be brought to justice. Quick Walkthrough: -Leave main room when laser opens door. -Get uplink and kill guard for pistol. -Go to first scientist to defuse bomb. -Follow corridor to room with next bomb (defuse). -Go to room with stairs for Checkpoint. -Put out fire and run to large corridor. -Go to second room (left side) and use magnet controls to destroy bomb. -Go down corridor to the end and put out fire. -Go left in large room enter crate area. -Defuse bomb (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Open door and go right to meet Khallos. -Kill Khallos (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Press control panels to defuse bomb (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Collect Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: Wasn't that FMV sequence an obvious rip-off of Goldfinger, an all-time classic Bond movie from the '60s? Anyway, you start off in a room with a laser buzzing around. Whatever you do DON'T MOVE! Wait until it shoots the door switch to open the door then exit. Get the temporal uplink and turn around. You'll see a console behind you. Activate it; you'll see through three cameras, all of which you should deactivate. (NOTE: Thanks to David Rainey, as he told me that the third camera is in fact an autogun. You can shoot with it by pressing the Fire button, and you should wait until you have eliminated three guards. This will make it much easier to get a gun, and will prevent you from getting hurt. Be sure to turn it off however, as otherwise it will shoot at you later. David Rainey has also given me a strategy to save time: press the button to open the door first then do the shooting to shave some seconds off the time). Then go over to the door and activate the switch on the right. Go through the door and then round the next two corners. You'll see a guard up ahead: sneak up on him and punch him to get his guns. Carry on walking and another guard will appear, so shoot him too. Get his gun and go over to the doorway up ahead. Stand next to the scientist and he'll say "I'll take care of that bomb for you." You can trust him to do it, so turn around and go back to where you first sneaked up on the guard. However, and this applies to all scientists in the mission, he will not react if there are enemies nearby. When you get back to the first area, walk down to the right and go through the door under the autogun (ignore it; it won't shoot as long as you deactivated it earlier). You'll come to an area full of crates. Hug the left wall and presently you'll come to a guard standing behind some crates. Pop him one in the head and get his ammunition. Further down the corridor are more three more guards. One has 2x silenced pistols, so watch it. At the end of the winding corridor is a door that opens onto a large room with some weird equipment in it. On the far left corner is a bomb - go over to it and look behind you. There are three guards down there, so make quick work of them with your newly-acquired pistols. When there are no guards left go over to the scientist in the room and get him to deactivate the bomb. Go down the corridor where you killed all the guards and another will pop out up ahead. Send him to join his friends. The timer should now be at about 6:00-5:30; walk into the room for a checkpoint. Look up immediately and kill the guard shooting you from the right. Then turn right and turn the wheel stuck on the pipe there. Go under the ramp for some remote mines. Now turn back up the ramp and in the middle section take the fire extinguisher and ammunition. Climb a small flight of steps and take out your extinguisher. Aim at both fires and put them out, making sure that you keep your distance. It's stupid to loose life just because you can't be careful. When the fires are put out the door behind you will open, so go through it. Walk forwards and aim up a little. There is a henchman on top of a box, so shoot him before he snipes you. Then get closer to the box and it will fly open. Immediately shoot the guard inside then enter. Collect his ammo and the armour here. When you're well equipped, leave the box and look left. Shoot the S47-wielding guard there and run down the corridor. Two more guards will pop out at you, and a further three await further along. I suggest using up the last of your pistol ammo here then changing to your Soviet S47. You should have about 100 ammo for it. Turn around and get some grenades out of a box behind you then go to where the third and fourth henchmen appeared. Go through the door on the right and you'll find a wheel to turn there. Then exit and enter the room on the left a little further down. Inside, turn around and shoot some guards who will attack you. Kill them then activate the power console on the far wall. You'll see a red room with a magnet and a bomb on the floor. Use the C-stick to move the magnet above the bomb then use Z to pick it up. Move the bomb to above the tray thing on the right and drop it in. Now you only have to deactivate one more bomb. You should have about six minutes remaining now; if you don't, you need to hurry up (not that it's a problem - in Normal and Hard the time limits are much harder but the missions are still beatable). Exit the room and go left down the corridor, killing another guard along the way. You'll come to a curve with an autogun. There's an easy way to do this: take out your remote mines, throw one in the vicinity of the gun and detonate it with the Alternate Fire button. Walk past its limp form and be sure to have your Soviet out. There are five guards here, including one on top of a box who will snipe you. Two others pop out at the same time from between two boxes, so use your Soviet to take them down. Collect a fire extinguisher from one of the columns here and run down the last stretch of corridor to a blazing fire. Using your extinguisher, carefully put out the flames and the door will open onto the last big section. In this large room look left and up. Use your sniper rifle to take out the sniper on the pipes there then run down to beneath his body. Turn right and you'll come to a busy area full of boxes; go to the far left and there is and empty box containing armour which you will no doubt need. Stay here and two enemies will attack you. When they're dead go over to the bomb on the right wall and look into the box on your left. Some scientists are there; get them to deactivate the last bomb and finish an objective for you. Press a switch on the wall and the big door will open, so go through it. You'll be greeted by a guard and two of his friends round the next corner. Get the armour here then venture onto these walkways. Khallos will appear and say a load of bullsh*t - just ignore him and grenade/gun him to death. Collect his tasty 2x Soviets and the time crystal. Unfortunately, some S47-wielding Scourge Splitters will appear. Lob grenades at them, and activate the four levers to activate the reactor. The time portal will appear, so have fun kicking Scourge Splitter ass for a while then finish the mission. Mission 8: 1920 AZTEC RUINS - Guatemala --------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Enter the Lost Temple *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Defeat the stone golems *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Briefing: The Lost Temple of T'hocheck has haunted the mind of Captain Ash ever since he gave up the military life to pursue daring deeds across the continents. In the deepest Guatemalan jungle it seems that his quest has come to fruition. Finally the ancient jade crystal artefact will occupy pride of place in his trophy cabinet. But darker forces are afoot. A lost tribe guards these legendary walls and natives speak of mighty elemental golems and sentient simians. In whispers, some even say that gods from another time walk among them... Quick Walkthrough: -Run straight to area with ramp and cross bridge. -Pull lever on the other side. -Go to the golden door and follow path to temple (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Descend stairs. -Take Time Crystal from altar (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Kill Golems using trapdoors and tiles (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: When you start a monkey will be in front of you, running. Follow him/her/it up the hill then through a winding tunnel. You'll come to an open area with walls. Take a left and you'll see many monkeys hanging around. Kill them if you feel cruel. Go left again through another tunnel and round the next corner. You'll come face-to-face with a native. Shoot him before he hits you with a crossbow bolt then collect the weapon he leaves. Go back to just before this corner and put the tip of the crossbow into the fire. Without shooting or reloading (which puts out the fire) advance to the wall opposite where you enter this area then take a right to go down a lower path. A tree thing (similar to Treebeard in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, for those who have seen it) will appear so immediately burn it with your flaming arrows and avoid it at all costs. Getting burned will incur a slow, painful and inevitable [virtual] death. Round the next corner and another native indian appears. He's not friendly, so incinerate him with your souped-up crossbow. Ignore the golden carved gate for now and turn right down another path. Follow this tunnel and you'll reach two doorways. Look through the left one and you'll see another tree-thing. Burn it too. Now reload and go through the doorways and to the other end of this small rectangular courtyard. (NOTE: On the left here is a beehive. A few of these are scattered about the level. Avoid them, as the bees follow you and sting you. The hives can be destroyed with burning arrows). Turn left down a corridor which leads to an area with painted pillars. Watch out for the indian on the way. Here, quickly kill another native then cast your aim upwards. On the third pillar on the left is a monkey who throws explosive watermelons at you. These hurt badly, so take out your more accurate Luger and blast away. The monkey may fall off the pillar. Pass through the courtyard and into the next. Dodge the beehive and ascend the ramp on the left. Turn right from here and cross the rope bridge you saw in the introductory FMV sequence. Follow this tunnel to a lever which you should activate. Watch out for the watermelon-toting monkey on the other side of the bridge and the native who appears after the lever is pulled. Remember that gold door I told you to ignore? Now backtrack to there to enter the inner sanctum of the Guatemalan jungle. The easiest route back is right from the bridge and just follow the path. The door is on the right. You will also be challenged by three more native indians on the way. Through the doors is a hole. Don't worry - just drop down it and follow the path. You'll come to the entrance of a temple with two monkey guards. Dispatch them with your Luger and enter. Turn left and shoot another indian and marvel as the music changes to a more suitable singing style. Go further into the temple and descend some steps. Another native awaits on them. Behind the staircase is a hidden lever - pull it and go back to the bottom of the steps. Advance into a small chamber and look on the right for armour. The left path leads to some steps. They go down for a while in a cubic shape, and you meet a monkey on the way. Kill it to make sure it doesn't lob any more melons. At the bottom go left to the altar and collect the crystal (objective ticked off). Now you'll have to kill some stone golems, and I'll tell you now that ammo of any kind has no effect (in Easy at least). To kill them, you will have to walk on the patterned tiles that appear to stick out of the floor. These open wooden trapdoors through which you must make the golems fall. I recommend that before starting this you kill the monkey on the pillar on the right from where you enter to avoid melon-pains. Then go to the left side of this large chamber. It is impossible to write a walkthrough for killing the golems; you have to work out how to trap them yourself, and it may take a few attempts and repositionings to get them to fall in. Just make sure that you yourself don't accidentally commit suicide. I find it easiest to start with the golem on the left then turn the corner and take the next one out. Go through the small stone corridor and you'll arrive at another similar area with another monkey. Make sure you kill it first. Then destroy the final golem to be told to escape through the Time Portal. It appears in front of the door at the far end of the room. Mission 9: 2315 ROBOT FACTORY ----------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Gain access the inner processing area *Locate and collect the ElectroTool *Destroy the energy nodes *Enter the factory core *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Defeat the Machinist *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Briefing: After the Machine Wars the mighty foundries and production lines finally fell silent...except for one! UltraNet sources have revealed that the Dark Machinist Child has activated a power node network and seeks to build a robot army to exact revenge. Neutralize his factory before he can reawaken dreadful conflict. Once you have accessed the inner processing area, you should proceed immediately with destroying the individual energy nodes. These nodes are extremely robust, and cannot be damaged with conventional firearms. However, the factory may still contain a small number of ElectroTools - portable generators that were used in the construction of the factory itself - which may be capable of overloading the nodes using a sustained beam of electricity. Once the nodes have been disabled, and the production lines finally silenced your last objective should be to find the Dark Machinist Child and ensure he is stopped for good. Quick Walkthrough: -Go left and follow path to console (activate) (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go back to beginning. -Go right to rail room and right again to path that leads to node room. -Collect ElectroTool and destroy node (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go up ramp to next node in open corridor. -Follow path to checkpoint. -Go to next node room and activate console up ramp to move node. -Destroy node. -Continue to rail room and activate console. -Use ramps to get to other side and activate console there to destroy last node (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Kill bots to enter core from rail room (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Destroy the Machinist (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go up to get Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: You start off with a Plasma Autorifle, and should use it to kill the two robots who will materialise when you step through the door in front of you. Collect their ammunition then take out your SciFi handgun and use it to kill another two who appear. Take a left then go left again through a doorway. Turn right and you'll see a moving laser and some bots. You can either go gung-ho and trip the laser, activating the ChassisBots. The ensuing battle might, however, lose you a lot of life. That's why it's a good idea to dodge behind some crates on the right and let the laser pass you. When it's on your right go over to the control panel on the left wall and wait until the laser is as near to you as possible. Activate the panel to change to destruction mode, which will kill the bots for you. Turn right into a corridor then right again and you'll come to another control panel. Activate it and you'll see through a mounted turret-gun. Using it, aim at one of the small power things on either side of the green laser door to blow it open (if the gun is too near the explosion it will blow up too). Having done that go forth through the open doorway and look left. Activate the machine you see there and you'll be treated to a short FMV sequence showing a bridge moving. Well done! You've gained access to the inner processing area. Before you leave this place be sure to collect the box of plasma grenades next to you. Then go back to the control panel for the gun and a ChassisBot will appear. Kill it then go down the left corridor for some armour. Retrace your steps to the beginning of the level and another three ChassisBots will appear. Stand behind a crate and kill them as they come. Take the right path this time and go through some large doors. Ahead of you will be a large turret gun which can move. These annoying machines pop up regularly, so I'll tell you how to kill them now: when the gun barrel appears, strafe and shoot at the exposed black area near the barrels. It explodes pretty quickly on Easy setting. Go through the next door and you'll find yourself in a large chamber with rails in the middle. Ahead of you is a large bot who can be killed easily with sustained handgun fire without it even raising its gun. About twenty shots is all you need to bring it down. Now look at the rail above your head from the doorway; stay watching it for a while and two mounted guns will come past (at different times). Shoot them down to avoid them hurting you later. Moving down the chamber you will come to another turret gun - you know how to deal with it. Turn right through some doors and you'll come face to face with _another_ one. Destroy that too. Walk through another door to find a room with flame exhaust being blown from tubes on the wall. Avoid that and step forward. Four ChassisBots will appear ahead of you; just blast with your handgun and you shouldn't take too much damage. Hopefully the bouncing laser will do your job for you. Climb the ramp and take a left then a right. You'll be in the rail room an a higher level. Remember the bridge you extended? That's the one in front of you. Cross it and be ready to kill the two bots who spawn at different times in front of you. Go right down a corridor and follow it to a room with a power node in the middle. Jump down to the node and look up to see that some rocket launchers have blasted rockets at you. Shoot these slow moving missiles and look left into a further section of the room. There patrolling is a large bot wielding a Lasergun. Bring it down with sustained firepower and collect the gun. Immediately turn 180 degrees and blast another one the other side of the room. Go through the double-doors behind the bot and run down the corridor (again shoot two missiles launched at you by a rocket launcher on the way). You'll emerge on the other side of the rail room, and if you look left you'll see a bot crawling along the floor. Shoot it quickly and look up at the rail above your head. Again, two guns move along it so take them off with your gun. Look to the middle of the room and blast the moving turret gun there. Collect the ElectroTool from the podium next to it and two bots spawn on either side of you. Kill them, but don't use the ElectroTool as it's useless as a weapon. Return the way you came from (to avoid more missiles) and use your ElectroTool to destroy the power node in the middle of the room. you need to hold down the trigger button to aim a sustained beam of electricity. The node will spin faster and faster and eventually explode. One node down, three to go. Upon destruction, the node will cause four ChassisBots to spawn, so get out your SciFi handgun (via the pause screen so as not to waste time) and kill them. Go up the ramp and continue forwards through the now opened doorway. Go down the corridor and collect the plasma grenades at the end then go right down another corridor. Be careful - there are rail guns here, and you ought to shoot these down before venturing further down the corridor (three in total). You will then come to a walking turret gun, but this one gets up! You must strafe to avoid getting hit and shoot quickly, but remember that it takes a lot more to kill this type. When it "dies", collect the armour on the left and destroy another node near it (keep your distance to avoid getting hurt). There is an ElectroTool at the end of the corridor if you need it. This causes four ChassisBots to appear, so be ready. Tread over their dead bodies to the end of the corridor and left into a sloped room where more rail guns and rocket launchers threaten you. Stand in the doorway and destroy the two railbots first then keep your distance and destroy the four rockets that get launched at you. Reaching the end of the room means a checkpoint. Finally! You'll find yourself standing next to a computer console. Ignore it for now and enter a semicircular room. Get some plasma from opposite the entrance then venture cautiously up to a closed walking turret. As soon as it gets up run back to the console and activate it. You'll see through a rail gun, so use its infinite ammo to blast into oblivion the turret. Go back into the room and repeat the process again with a turret a little further along. Just remember to run as soon as you see it begin to move. Then go through the room to the next (remember that some rocket launchers there may try to shoot missiles at you). In the next room four bots appear when you enter. Kill them and collect the armour under a ramp on the right. Climb up the ramp and go to the power console in a niche on the left at the top. Activate it and a power node will come towards you. Destroy it with your trusty ElectroTool, and get ready to blast the two ChassisBots who spawn as a result. Follow the corridor and you'll come to the rail room. Next to you is a computer console; activate it and you'll be treated to a short video showing the power node suspended from the ceiling moving. Then run up the ramp and kill with sustained firepower the large lasergun toting bot up here. Look down and right from him and you'll see another bot. Shoot it too and descend the ramp to its crushed body. From here go to the ramp opposite and cross it. You'll come to a walking turret gun. Use your Psalms Autorifle to blast it. (Any enemies from here onwards can be led back to the semicircular room and be killed using the rail gun. This takes a long time but is safer). Go over to the console on the far wall and activate it. After a short video and twenty seconds of waiting the last node will be overloaded and an objective will be complete. This will cause many bots to spawn, so run through the door here and collect the homing launcher so carelessly left lying on the floor. Use your SciFi handgun to destroy the power cells on the wall and open the green door. It leads back to the ramp room next to the semicircular one. Here you should run up the ramp and back to the rail room again. There, take out your homing launcher and aim up at the large homing launcher wielding bot and kill it. It takes three rockets. Another one will spawn there, so kill it too. In both cases, you must keep strafing as one rocket can be enough to kill you. When the main threat is dealt with turn your attention to the other, smaller bots in the room. There are eight ChassisBots in all, but they spawn (i.e. there are only two at first, and three others replace each one when they're killed). This opens the laser grid locked door, which leads to the inner sanctum of the factory: the core. Reaching here ticks off one objective, but it also gives you a new one: to destroy the Machinist. You materialise in a room full of arms with steel... things, which will hurt you if they hit you. Keep dodging, and use your homing launcher to aim at the belly of the machine, located opposite where you entered. There is armour and ammo (rockets) in the side rooms. It does not take long to bring down the Machinist, and if you run out of rockets use your Plasma Autorifle. When it dies, run up the to top right door which leads to the higher level, above the carcass of the Machinist. Go round to behind it and pick up the Time Crystal. This causes the odd TimeSplitter to appear, but just ignore them and head back down again to enter the portal and finish the mission. Well done! That was the longest and hardest mission in the game (in Easy mode, of course). Mission 10: 2401 Space Station ------------------------------ Objectives Primary Objectives:- *Collect the crystals *Initiate self destruct *Escape the TimeSplitters base *NEW OBJECTIVE: Shoot down the TimeSplitters fleet Secondary Objectives:- *None Briefing: None Quick Walkthrough: -Collect the Time Crystals (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Run into corridor surrounding the room. -Activate three consoles (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Run to the ground floor and to the elevator. -At the bottom take a space suit. -Follow the corridors to the air lock. -Shoot down the incoming enemy ships with the gun (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Take the elevator down to the hangar. -Enter your ship (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: You start off facing the bunch of crystals, so ignore everything else and grab them. Turn around and you'll see the nasty TimeSplitter who killed Corp. Hart (*sniff*). Avenge your friend and blast it. As soon as you've killed it run for the door opposite the Time Portal as a swarm of insects will try to kill you. Take a left in this corridor and activate the machine you come across on your way down. Go through the first door on your left and follow the path along the left. You'll find armour and ammo. Go through the door marked "level 2". From here take a right and keep walking (ignore the door on the right) until you reach an active terminal. Activate that too and keep walking, ignoring doors until you come to the third and last terminal (you will pass one you've already activated on the way). Activating it will initiate the self destruct timer. Better get your ass off this ship! Keep going in the same direction and take the first door on your right. From here drop to the lowest floor. Take the second door on the right marked "hangar". It will lead to a corridor containing a reaper splitter. Empty some rounds into it and go through the next door, which takes you to an elevator room. Activate the switch on the right and wait for the elevator to come up. In the meantime kill the TimeSplitters who have congregated around you. You're bound to take some damage - don't worry. At the bottom go right through a door which leads to a room with baby TimeSplitters. Aim low and kill them then take the armour and the ammo on the left. Then go to the end of the room and take an outdoor suit from the wardrobe. Now backtrack to the elevator. Enemies will attack you all the time. Take the left path this time and go through three corridors, all containing Reaper, Drone or Scourge Splitters. Keep looking back, as more arrive. By the time you are in the third corridor the timer should be no lower than 6:30. Ignore the path on the right and keep going into the next corridor. Here are more Drone Splitters and one Reaper Splitter; you may want to consider using your plasma grenades for quick kills. The door at the end leads to _another_ corridor with a door that you have to open manually. It leads to an airlock. By now you will have been told to shoot down the incoming TimeSplitter fleet. You'll have to wait a few seconds then you'll be able to open the next door too. You'll emerge in an outside part of the station. Normally you'd suffocate, but because of that suit you'll be fine. There's ammo and armour if you need it and a mounted gun. You have 600 bullets with which to shoot a small fleet of ships - all in a day's work for Sgt. Cortez! Zoom in and shoot the ships as they come. Be alert as they can be hard to spot at first. Try to get all three at once, and remember that they come in threes at all times. Take out any stragglers and you'll finish the objective. Now go back to the corridor the T-junction and go down the passage I told you to ignore earlier, staying alert for TimeSplitters. Open the door at the end of the corridor and you'll come a corridor with a shelf. On it is some armour and... a Minigun! Yeah, Baby! Time to kick some 'Splitter ass! Go left and use the secondary fire mode to keep the minigun at the ready at all times. Kill the Scourge Splitter who runs up to you then kill the Reaper Splitter at an intersection with two doors. Take the right door and you'll be in an elevator room. Go round to the other side and call the elevator. Also kill the TimeSplitters in your way. Ride the elevator downstairs and exit into the hangar. If you have less than a minute just run straight into your ship which is opposite where you enter. If you have a little more time and you feel like it you can kill some TimeSplitters first. Either way, entering your ship will finish the mission and the game. Enjoy the ending sequence and the stuff you unlock! ~CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE FINISHED THE GAME IN EASY MODE! NOW TRY IT IN NORMAL.~ ___________________________________________________________________________ / \ | 4b. Normal/Hard Mode Walkthrough | \___________________________________________________________________________/ This part of the guide covers Normal and Hard modes. The two are very similar, apart from armour and enemies. As far as I know the objectives are the same in both. I've written for Hard mode, so adapt it for Normal if you're playing in that (there are fewer enemies, that's all). I haven't included the mission briefings for Normal/Hard mode - that would just be filler. Read them under the walkthrough for Easy mode. Mission 1: 1990 SIBERIA - Oblansk Dam ------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Deactivate the communications dish *Burn all evidence in the filing cabinets *Investigate the secret digging site *Retrieve the time crystal *Access the top of the dam *NEW OBJECTIVE: Restore power *NEW OBJECTIVE: Destroy the biohazard container *NEW OBJECTIVE: Don't allow any mutants to survive *NEW OBJECTIVE: Destroy the gunship *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Quick Walkthrough: -Collect sniper and pistol. -Run to courtyard and up steps behind large building. -Use walkway to get mines from small building roof. -Open door in 2F of big building and throw mine at dish (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Burn evidence in two filing cabinets in the small cabins (2/5). -Activate the elevator for an objective. -Go to dam and ascend stairs to the top. -Run down corridor shutting off three valves in side rooms. -Go down stairs on other side of dam. -Enter building. -Go into side room opposite showers and burn evidence (3/5). -Just before the stairs burn the evidence in the cabinets (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Follow path to checkpoint. -Destroy autoguns. -Go up to control centre and open door. -Follow rocky corridor to digging site (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Collect Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go back to second door in corridor. -Open both doors in small room. -Enter research area and collect disk. -Kill zombies to escape and return to control room. -Activate panel to restore power (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Return to digging site. -Throw mines on Biohazard Container (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Return to dam, killing four mutants on the way (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Ride elevator to top floor (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Destroy the gunship (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Run to Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: This is one of the more difficult missions, so don't fret if you find it hard. Get the guns in front of you and turn the corner slightly so you can see the guy on the balcony. Pop him in the skull, then peep round the corner a little more. There should be a guard walking there, between two huts. Make sure he doesn't see you and kill him in the same way. Look up-left a bit and shoot the camera you see in the lens. Walk straight up to the fence opposite the tunnel and turn right. You should see a female guard straight ahead - shoot her in the head with your sniper. Head to where the second enemy you killed was and go around the corner and to the second hut. Look through the window in the doorway and use your pistol to silently dispose of the guard here (4 guards, 4 head shots!). Head back to the entrance to the compound and go right to the end of the large building. Turn the corner cautiously and shoot continuously at the guard here. You've now disposed of all enemies in the area. Collect the sniper ammo in the far left building then, using your uplink to dodge the camera in the middle of the courtyard, enter the ground floor of the large building. Turn off the cameras with the console at the other end of the room. Now ascend the steps to the top of the building. Enter the office and activate the switch at the far end of the room. A sniper has appeared at the window of the dam. Quickly run across the boards on the roofs and drop into the locked hut. The sniper will shoot but miss if you're quick. Get the mines and enter the building where you shot a guard earlier. Open the cabinet and drop a mine onto it (1/5). Strafe diagonally between the mine hut and the one next to the large building. Go round the side and enter it. Mine the cabinet here too (2/5) and from the doorway chuck a mine onto the dish. Now leg it to the dam entrance. The sniper should have missed every time he took a shot at you. Try to activate the lift and you'll be given a new objective. Ascend the first two flights of steps then duck to avoid the steam coming out of the wall. On the third floor up move cautiously round the corner and you'll see a guard with his side turned to you. Easy pistol head shot. Continue to the next floor with your mines at the ready and throw one onto the barrels. Run downstairs and wait for the explosion. About five seconds later go back up and a guard should be there, investigating the noise. Kill him quickly and don't get hit. The coast is now clear to the top floor so run there. Take out your sniper and peep through the window in the door. Head shot the guard you see, turn a little then head shot the one further down the corridor. Take out your pistol and shoot away in relative safety at the guards who you see running towards you. Back away from the door if one chucks a grenade at you. When the coast is clear enter the corridor and collect all the ammo. Go into the passageway on your left and turn the wheel you come to. Also get the ammo and armour on the shelf. Repeat the wheel turning in the next two side rooms to turn the steam pressure to zero and open the way. Get out your mines and open the door ahead. Look up and very slowly creep through. Above your head is an autogun. Chuck a mine onto or near it then back up until you hear an explosion. Descend the first floor then get your Soviet S47 ready. Stealth is no use here. Run down the next flight of steps and riddle the guard full of lead. Don't use more ammo than necessary and aim for the next set of stairs. A guard will appear any minute, so use your lightning quick reflexes to gun her down before she can do anything. It's safe for the next three floors, but after that is another guard. Shoot her quickly and kill the last trooper when he runs up to investigate. Now just run down to the ground floor and open the door. You'll need your sniper again now. Aim for the camera above your head and shoot its lens. Turn 180 degrees and look up at the dam. There is a sniper in the window. Dodge his bullet then quickly head shot him. Get out you pistol and turn the right corner. A guard is walking away with her back turned to you. Use the opportunity wisely. Run forward and use your S47 to kill the guard round the next corner. Take out your pistol and shoot the camera above your head. With your S47 kill the last guard who comes running to you. Shoot the camera round the corner from the door then enter the building. In the first room catch the guard unawares and another will run up some steps to greet you. Kill him too and go down to the next level. Turn the corner and blast the guard's head. Open the door on the right and chuck a mine onto the open filing cabinet (3/5). Exit the small room and run into the next, larger one. Aim up at the camera in front with your sniper rifle and de-lens it. With your S47 kill the guard around the next corner. Run into the next segment and use your mines to open and blow up the final pieces of evidence and finish the objective. Run down the stairs and you'll reach a checkpoint. Go round the corner and shoot the white guard you see. Throw a timed mine onto the floor and run up the stairs behind you. After about five seconds lob a grenade into the room then kill the last guard when he arrives. This usually succeeds in killing all four guards with no damage to you, but if it doesn't work you'll want to develop your own strategy. Get out your mines and throw one onto each autogun on the ceiling. Run up the stairs in the wall to the control room-type place and activate the switch at the far end to open the way to the digging site. Drop down and enter the rocky corridor. Run all the way to the end and collect the time crystal. Run back and enter the second door on the left. In this corridor you should enter the first door on the left and activate the camera console. You'll see through a gun. Shoot the guard you notice in this room then turn off the camera. Activate the two switches then go to the place where you shot the guard. Go through the doorway and look ahead down the corridor. Switch to Soviet and lob a grenade down to the doorway ahead. This should kill a guard behind the door. Run forward to the entrance to this room. Get out your sniper rifle (hopefully you have a couple of bullets left) and shoot the glass in front. You'll see a guard with his back against where the glass was. He doesn't notice it explode (idiot) so give him the head shot treatment. Run over to his body and get the disk. The room will suddenly go red and zombies will come out to attack you. They're very easy to kill - just keep backing away and lopping off their heads with your pistol. There's no excuse for getting hurt. When they're redead exit to the rocky corridor. Follow the path back to the control room and insert the disk into the appropriate console. This reboots the system. As soon as you've done this run as fast and possible to the corridor leading to the zombie room. Get out your pistol and stand a few paces from the door. As soon as the power is on eight zombies will be released at once. Shoot their heads off as they arrive. Now exit and go into the first room from the entrance to the rocky corridor. There is a useless flamethrower and some ammo and armour on the right. If you're low on health collect it, if not save it for later. Go to the other unexplored room and you'll find some mines. Go down to the digging site, eliminate any stray zombies then get out your mines. Throw four onto the biohazard container and run back to the zombie room corridor. Soon two shock troopers appear. Use strafing techniques to take minimum damage then head back to the first room after the checkpoint. Head for the stairs and an immolated hybrid mutant appears. Shoot his head off and head up the stairs. IMMEDIATELY gun down the trooper to avoid almost certain death by grenade then pick off any zombies you see. Round the corner towards the small cupboard room which had evidence in it is another trooper. Be quick when killing him. Head up the stairs and another mutant appears. Head off. In the final room before you head outside again is a trooper and a zombie. Use your best strafing skills and run outside. The troopers are fighting a mutant so watch the show and kill the survivors. All mutants should now be dead. If you didn't get the armour before now's the time to do so. When you're ready enter the dam. Just inside the dam lay a trail of mines. Run forward and two zombies will start to follow you. Run back throwing mines in your wake to kill them both. Get out your pistol again and shoot the third who appears. Now activate the elevator and ride it to the very top floor, the roof of the dam. This is the very hardest part of the game; it can be frustrating dying now so be alert. Run onto the dam then turn around to see that a guard is just behind you. Mow him down and repeat the process with the guard up ahead. Get onto the mounted gun on your left and aim for the gunship. Shoot off all your missiles and then shoot away with the machinegun. Every ten seconds or so stop and shoot the two guards who assail you from either side. That done start afresh with one of the other guns. Hopefully you have enough life remaining to see the process through. When the gunship goes down dash for the portal and the level will end. Mission 2: 1930 CHICAGO - Downtown ---------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Drain all whiskey barrels *Rendez-vous with your informant *Obtain the membership card *Eliminate Big Tony *Retrieve the time crystal *NEW OBJECTIVE: Stop Tony's brother from escaping *NEW OBJECTIVE: Protect Marco the Snitch *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Quick Walkthrough: -Use sniper to kill all enemies on the ground. -Go through the warehouse to the street, shooting barrels on the way. -Answer the telephone. -Kill Tony's brother by shooting the car (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Shoot barrel in alcove. -Have shoot-out in O'Leary's. -Meet Marco (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Protect him from enemies up to his house (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter the building opposite and shoot the barrel (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Ascend to the top and blow the safe with TNT. -Get the pass (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go downstairs and get to Tony's club. -Kill the goons and get into the main room. -Kill Tony and get the crystal (OBJECTIVES COMPLETE). -Exit via the Time Portal. In-depth Walkthrough: You start in the same place as usual, but in Hard mode the enemies can shoot you while you're on the balcony and behind the window. Head out onto the balcony perpendicular to the window room and shoot the guy walking to the right of the boat with his back to you. Aim down to the entrance of the boat (the wooden plank) and head shot another guard down here. Then look up-left off scope mode, strafe to narrowly dodge a bullet from the guy there and shoot him too. If you pull this off correctly you can head shot all three of them with no damage to you. There are many ways of doing that part and you may wish to formulate a method of your own. Drop down onto the boat and take out your pistol. Advance out and face the wall to the left of the doorway leading into the warehouse. Strafe out and shoot the guard wandering just inside then mercilessly pump him with lead. He will reel in pain, unable to shoot back. Walk over to the little alcove in the wall containing a barrel and shoot it at the bottom to ensure all whiskey is drained (1/4). Walk up the stairs and strafe out around the wooden screen. A guard is standing here with his side to you. If he sees you you'll have to improvise and strafe like hell to dodge the bullets of the other two guard who will appear as a result of your mistake. Otherwise, pop him with your pistol. Go up to his body and look through the window on the left with your sniper rifle. Head shot the guard standing below. Descend the next stairs and turn right at the bottom. A guard will be patrolling just here, so make sure you get the first shot in and exploit his spasms off pain to give yourself an opportunity to finish him off. Turn back to the chamber looked onto from upstairs and shoot the barrel in the top-left corner (2/4). Now you can exit the warehouse onto the street. Before you step out onto the road aim up at the window on the left. Head shot the sniper with your own rifle. Go right up the road and activate the phone at the end ("It's Marco..." blah blah blah). Look up the street into the little alcove on the right and lodge a bullet into the skull of the Tommy Gun guard standing there. Go and get his gun then walk a few more steps before a car come tearing round the corner. Empty a few bullets into it (doesn't take many) and smoke will emerge from the engine. At the point you can just continue your journey as the car will simply crash in a few seconds. Keep walking up to O'Leary's and look into the alcove on the right. There is armour and ammo (collect) and a barrel (shoot). Why does O'Leary leave his barrels standing about in the street? Enter the bar and walk into the second room with your Tommy Gun ready. Stand on the stage thing and blast, strafe, blast, strafe as the enemies come pouring in. I'm pretty sure there are seven in total. Exit from the other side then turn left and look at the wall opposite the news stand. It's Marco. He will start walking over to his house, so get your pistol ready and look to the right corner. A goon appears so pump a few bullets into him. Turn to face the same direction as Marco and do this to the guy in front of him. Turn around again and wait a few seconds. You'll have to give the next guard the same treatment. Marco will now be in the next street so aim up at the balcony on the left and take out the sniper up there. There will also be a guard on ground level soon afterwards. Turn around and shoot the final goon threatening Marco then follow the informant into his house. Get the TNT off the table and head over to the tower opposite where you arrived. You'll descend a short flight of steps that lead into a sort of small underground warehouse. Look left and shoot the guard standing there in the head. Another one appears from the doorway opposite where you came in so kill him too. Run upstairs and look into the small room with a bed. There is armour under the bed. There is also a keen recipient of your ammunition standing at the foot of some more stairs. Shoot him and climb up another spiralling lot of stairs. Another guard waits on this floor, and there is a room with a sniper aiming out of the window. Kill. Up the final flight of steps is Braces, who has a lot of stamina. Get your Tommy Gun out and shoot him (keep going until he drops). The room he was guarding has a safe. Place the TNT on it, stand well back, then collect the shotgun and the pass inside. The telephone will now ring. Pick it up to hear Marco's annoying voice. There are snipers outside. Great. Go down the first lot of steps to the room where you killed the sniper. There will be bullets whizzing around from snipers outside. The first is located in a window on the right, lower down from where you're standing. Another is on the pavement (sidewalk) at street level. A third one is in a window more or less opposite the window you're standing at. Try to head shot them all, taking minimum damage. You can now safely exit to the street. There is probably a goon waiting for you here. Blast him and take the road you haven't been down yet, leading to the hotel. Down the right path is a dead end and a guard. Snipe him. Down the left is a guard behind a window at the end of the road and a couple of other enemies prowling around and generally doing their AI stuff. When you've dealt with these threats go left into the courtyard of Tony's club. Checkpoint. Gun down the two guards on the left and right of the gate across the yard. Go over to the building there and walk through it. At the other side is a closed door. Position yourself so you're facing right when it opens then shoot the guy you see. Another comes running up to you so kill him as well. There's some armour on the floor. Enter the sunrise club and get the two Tommy Guns behind the glass screen in the entrance. Go through to the hall with glass on either side and a goon appears opposite where you arrive. Shoot away. Keep going to a room with a pillar in the middle. Braces is waiting there (he came back to life, apparently). Gun him and another guard down then face up-right. Keep this position while running into the big chamber where Big Tony is standing. Just concentrate on him and keep pumping out lead. Hopefully you have enough life and ammo to hold out against the other enemies. Run up to Tony's body and get the crystal off him. A Scourge Splitter will appear in front of the portal on the stairs. Empty your final rounds into him and finish the mission. Mission 3: 1895 NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL ------------------------------------ Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Rescue the maidens *Retrieve the time crystal *Eliminate Jacque de la Morte *NEW OBJECTIVE: Help the Hunchback get the maiden to safety *NEW OBJECIVE: Kill the Portal Demon *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through Time Portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Quick Walkthrough: -Walk through sewer to lever and pull it. -Descend again and help hunchback protect maiden (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Follow them downstairs (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: Unlike most other missions in Hard mode there is no extra stuff to do - the layout is the same as in Easy. However, there are many hordes of zombies who come in greater numbers than before, and do far more damage. Watch out for the Sewer Zombies' acid spit attack - they now have long range damage, so surviving is not just a case of keeping your distance. Finally, you'd better be well practiced at making quick, unaimed headshots because you're going to be aiming for each bullet to hit a skull. Walk into the middle of the first chamber then run back to the start. All three zombies should get up to follow you. Blast their heads off. Follow on to a turning off to the left. Enter it and run to the other side of the room. The three zombies here will get up, and you should gun them straight down again. Pull the level then return to the main route. Follow through a doorway to the sewer area. Walk along the stream, but be sure to take out the nasty zombie on the right. The first grate ahead of you will be open. Use the lever on the left to open the second one. Go up to the dry platform on the right and kill the zombie who appears. Collect the armour on the floor and go through the small doorway in the wall. A zombie stands at the bottom of the stairs and another spawns halfway up. At the top of the stairs is a sort of cellar with wine everywhere. Walk up to the far end of the room and cautiously approach the door. It will suddenly explode. As soon as this happens run back to the entrance, weaving between zombies. The door is locked, so you just have to stand your ground here. Turn around and deliver those head shots you're so good at. Be particularly careful about dodging fire zombies. There are six undead in total, but some may be consumed by flames. When they're redead exit the room from the other side. You'll find yourself in a crypt full of gothic arches. There are four chained people in the area, but only three are maidens. One is a changeling - you'll be able to tell because it will be facing down. Shoot this, don't release it. Every time you approach a maiden about four zombies will spawn. Always kill all zombies in the area before releasing anyone, and ensure that the zombies don't attack the maidens - if one dies, it's mission failed. Walk into the first square piece of room and five zombies spawn. Stand so as to shield the maiden then shoot them all. Advance to the place with cages on the left and right. One will contain a chained person. Shoot the lock, enter and kill the zombies who spawn. Take a right and another chained person will come into view. Shoot all zombies who spawn and run up to the final victim and kill any remaining undead. Now go around releasing all maidens (kill the changeling) then run up the small flight of steps in the wall near the last maiden. As you ascend the steps a crypt zombie appears. Kill it and go up to the doorway behind its body. Checkpoint. You are now in the main hall of Notre Dame. Go left and you'll see a maiden hanging from the ceiling. Behind her, in the pews leading to the altar are several undead priests. These guys have loads of stamina, and head shots don't kill in one go. Keep blasting away at one until it goes down, while strafing, then repeat for the next one. You can collect the Time Crystal now if you want, or later after helping the hunchback. Either way, run to the only open door in the chamber (other than the one you arrived through) and run up the steps. There are zombies on the way up, and a priest at the top, so be careful. When you reach a balcony overlooking the cathedral pull the rope (either) to lower the maiden. Go back downstairs again to find the hunchback kicking zombie ass. Help him by picking off some offending hellspawn. When the threat is dealt with one objective is complete. Follow the hunchback downstairs to the sewer area (pick up the body armour in the crypt that I omitted to mention so as to force you to save it for later). He disappears, leaving you some shotgun ammo and a complete objective. Go back upstairs and take the newly opened door. There are three zombies up the spiralling staircase here. The last is on fire. To avoid taking damage and being turned into a frazzled pyromaniac you'll have to run back downstairs then kill the zombies when they appear. Slow but safe. Run to the very top - you'll arrive in some rooftop rooms. Just follow the path until you reach the large balcony above the cathedral. This is the hardest part of the mission. The Portal Daemon appears as usual, but he's polished up his act for Hard mode. Aim upwards and shoot one shotgun round at him then aim at head height and shoot the undead priests and zombies who will have congregated around you. Repeat until the daemon dies. There is shotgun ammo at the far end of the room and believe me, you're going to need it. When the daemon goes down exit through the other door. You'll soon come to the roof of Notre Dame itself. There are undead priests everywhere, and Jacque de la Morte awaits you. Luckily he hasn't evolved much so pump away with your shotgun and he won't even shoot back. The Time Portal opens now so dodge the Scourge Splitters and finish the mission. Mission 4: 2280 RETURN TO PLANET X ---------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Locate the crashed UFO *Retrieve the time crystal *Locate the alien base *NEW OBJECTIVE: Repel the beach attack *NEW OBJECTIVE: Fight off the UFO fleet *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Quick Walkthrough: -Collect gun and jump through hole. -Follow path to beach. -Use guns to repel attack (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter previously closed path. -Go through insect canyon. -Continue to open area with UFO (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Fight then enter it. -Drop through hole in the floor. -Follow path to large hangar-type place. -Get to large guns. -Fight off fleet (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter alien base (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Follow path to teleport point (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Take Time Crystal from outer rim of interior of UFO (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: This, along with Chicago and Wild West, is one of the only fun missions in Hard mode in that it is both challenging and not frustratingly impossible. The music is cool and there's more to the level than the ridiculously short Easy mode version. The enemies will either have SciFi Handguns, Plasma Autorifles or weird but very damaging thread laser things. Dodge these at all costs. As soon as you start run straight for the gun and jump down the hole. Restart if you get hit. Run along the passageway and shoot the first guy who comes round the corner. A little further along is another Mox. Kill him and aim upwards. You'll see a sort of bridge thing - shoot the guard standing on it. The next corner has a gun located on the floor. Pick it up and aim ahead. There is another Mox on the floor and an enemy on a bridge above you. Further along are three Mox - some spawn, so listen out for the familiar noise. When you emerge on the beach you should aim to have full health - you'll lose a lot here. Run up to the higher part of the "beach" and get behind a gun. This part really requires you to have decent reflexes, accuracy and skill. A walkthrough cannot really help. I can tell you two things though - if you get hit look on either side of you as there are probably guys shooting you, and make sure you don't run out of ammo on the gun. Having to change gun will almost certainly get you killed. When the attack is repelled collect the plasma autorifle, the masses of ammo on the floor and any armour left behind on the path then exit through the door that opens. You're in an insect area. They sting, so run your ass off to the other side of this circular place. The path from here leads to the crashed UFO. There are several Mox and the second half of the Homing Launcher to pick up. There's plenty of armour from here on so don't worry too much about health. When you reach the UFO stand near it and shoot at the Mox who get beamed down. Kill them as they arrive and soon some rival Mox will appear from inside the spacecraft. Let them fight it out then mop up any survivors. Enter the ship after that. It's large and you appear in the middle. Get into the outer rim through one of the square doorway things and follow the path until you reach a hole in the floor. Drop through it to reach a checkpoint. You have a choice of paths here - you can go left to a dead end that leads back to the start with a few enemies on the way or you can go right to the end of the level. This walkthrough only covers the latter, as it is for sane people. The path is winding, and there is a Mox at practically every corner. Just gun them down when they appear. You'll soon arrive at a huge area with a metal floor and what looks like the entrance to a hangar. The rival factions are here in force, and are busy butchering each other. Let them get on with it and stand back in the corridor so you can see an enemy if it comes from the area. Soon several aliens will come and attack you, and you can shoot them as soon as they appear, taking no damage. When you think the coast is clear venture out, but check the ledge above near where you entered for a sniper. Go to the doorway roughly opposite the entrance and kill the Mox hanging around there. It is leads down another path which eventually gets you to a metallic looking place with several aliens. These lead to guns, and you should enter and go to the far little cabin. There are controls for a gun there. Activate them and wait for the UFOs to appear. Shoot down enough and the objective is complete (check your objectives screen to see how many are left to destroy). When you're done you can follow the path again, which leads into the alien base. As well as the Mox you also have to look out for cameras. Use your Handgun to take them out. There is one near where you enter, another round the corner and a third in the large UFO chamber. Eventually you reach a teleportation thingy which takes you back inside the crashed UFO. The Time Crystal is now located in the outer rim of the craft - go and collect it. The Time Portal appears, as well as some 'Splitters. In this enclosed space it's hard to dodge their electricity, so let's hope you have enough life left to make it to the Portal. Mission 5: 2019 NEOTOKYO - Tek Quarter -------------------------------------- Objectives: Primary Objectives:- *Follow the Hacker to the research area *Deactivate the TimeSplitter machine *Retrieve the time crystal *Kill the Hacker Chief *NEW OBJECTIVE: Photograph the evidence *NEW OBJECTIVE: Upload it to the police server *NEW OBJECTIVE: Escape through the time portal Secondary Objectives:- *None Quick Walkthrough: -Follow hacker, dodging cameras and collecting ammo (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Enter base through open laser grid and turn off cameras in small room. -Use last camera to obtain code then use it to open door. -Go to big room and activate laptop (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Collect the camera in the far room. -Photograph the TimeSplitter machine and the plans in the room next to it (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Go back to the camera room and activate the console to warn the police (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Run after Sadako through the streets and kill her then collect Time Crystal (OBJECTIVE COMPLETE). -Escape through Time Portal at the end of the street (MISSION COMPLETE). In-depth Walkthrough: The first part of this mission is made very complicated by the fact that the hacker is now cloaked. You can just about see her outline. She can still see you though, so be careful. Let her walk on a little then turn the corner. Follow carefully then go left up the steps while she goes on to the winding staircase with "Maru Station" written above it. Go downstairs and you'll be at street level. On the right are two glass sheets. Punch them to break into the ammo stores behind. When you've visited both you should have a sniper rifle and a pistol, and are ready to face the hard part ahead. Take out your uplink and dodge between the sight of the cameras. They won't see you if you're not in the pink area. Be sure not to go further ahead than the hacker. She stops halfway down the first street to look around. When you come near the corner put your uplink away and get out your sniper. Aim at the camera in front of you and pop a bullet in its lens. Use your uplink again to dodge the next two cameras on the left and right of the road (to avoid their sight go behind the pillars they're mounted on). However, you'll soon come to a massive police gunship which is a red splodge on your uplink. Get too near to this and it sees you (mission failed). Crouch behind a pillar facing the direction it comes from and wait until the danger has passed. When you come to a T-Junction branching off to the left hide on the right sidewalk and use your sniper to take out the camera on the right wall of the side street. Move right a little and you'll spot another camera at the end of the street. Shoot that too. It's now safe to run down to the end, where the hacker should just be entering a ramp leading underground to the left of where you arrived. Follow her in. This sewer place goes right then right again at the end of another corridor. There is a small room with blue laser here. The hacker will go inside, so wait about four seconds then run into the locked corridor and get inside the control room immediately on the left. Activate the machine and turn off the first two cameras. The third offers a view into a room with yellow walls. Focus the camera on the laptop and when the hacker's blurred profile has passed over it then left the room you will know the code. Turn this camera and take out your fists. Creep down the corridor and punch th
