The save system in the game offers a checkpoint each time you complete one of the main mission's goals. While this seems like a good system, the goal that you're attempting will determine how well you like the system. Some goals take more effort than others, or are time sensitive, which will have you repeating the same game sections over and again. If this particular section includes dialogue or a long trek to an objective, you will be forced to replay that area until you complete the mission, which can quickly become tiresome.

Visually, Secret Missions of WWII looks great. The clouds and atmosphere are all done well and the planes all look accurate. Even more impressive, however, is the way that the ground looks from the air. Each of the varied stages looks positively dizzying from the plane, which is a testament to how well the grounds are crafted. The sound effects are well done too, giving accurate sounding portrayals of weapons fire and airplane engines. The voice acting is decent, though not particularly noteworthy.

Even after finishing the campaign, the game does offer multiplayer. There is the old standby, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch as well as some more specialized modes. Aces High is a game like tag, where only by killing the "Ace" can anyone score. Kamikaze pits players against waves of kamikaze fighters attempting to attack a base, and Seek and Destroy charges everyone with killing all other participants at least once to score. The multiplayer modes are a fun addition and add a great amount of replayability to the gameplay.

Overall, Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII of WWII is a fun game to play and a definite improvement over the original. If you enjoy or are interested in flight based combat games that are simulation heavy, Secret Missions of WWII offers enough fun to make you forget the missteps of the original.
