The environments are also very lackluster. Every field puts you on either a desolate planet void of life or desolate voids of space (yes, I know how that sounds). In order to conquer each mission, your objectives consist of merely destroying every enemy within a certain perimeter to make that section of the map yours. Once you conquered every red area on the map, meaning you've also defended it from being taken over, you will complete the mission. Of course there are some variables to consider, one being that any area you conquer can be taken back by a squad of enemies and some missions will end if your allies are killed, but thankfully that is rare.

I have to say your allies are fairly good at holding their own ground and even taking over parts of other maps. That is not saying much though, considering some enemies tend to just stand around as if they know their just cannon fodder. Seeing a group of enemies just standing there waiting to be destroyed really kills the spirit of challenge and war the game tries to portray.
As you button mash through the hordes of robots, you'll catch some very nice particle effects and special effects. The graphics come off as very clean and well polished but give the impression of a great Xbox game, not so much utilizing the new-gen consoles' power. When you fight special characters, your sword can sometimes collide with theirs generating a brief cutscene that showcases some really nice and colorful special effects popular to anime. The characters will also quickly exchange dialogue as they face each other.
Overall, I'd have to say that I would be disappointed if I hadn't already foreseen how this game would be. The graphics are great but below the expectations of a new generation consoles' power. The controls are great, although the camera can work against you in buildings. The bottom line is if you're smart enough to read the title, you're smart enough to know what you're buying. So anime fans play to your heart's content. I know I am!
