Similar to titles such Splinter Cell, one gunshot will set off the alarm and the boys in blue will arrive on the scene in seconds, giving you little chance to get away safely. When you first announce the holdup, you will have to keep track of all security guards, customers, and clerks in the bank to ensure one doesn't trigger the alarm. Then you will have to be quick. Each mission should only last a few minutes, depending on how smoothly everything goes and how much work is involved. If you're out before the cops arrive, you should be able to make an easy getaway. If they're hot on your tail, your expert driving skills will definitely have to come into play if you plan on giving them the slip.

Each holdup will be followed by a getaway chase, which developers say will be one of the game's most popular aspects. Classic cars and the hilly San Francisco terrain will make for a unique experience, paying homage to classic getaway flicks. You'll be able to collect different vehicles, similar to GTA, for your means of escape to ensure you get back to your home base scot-free. How long you take and how much police attention you draw will determine the amount of squad cars you will have to outrun and roadblocks you will have to dodge.

As you go through Hei$t's story, much of the gameplay will involve strategizing your next robbery to ensure you pull it off flawlessly. However, in the midst of all the planning and information you will need to obtain through the likes of Uncle Sal, there are plenty of other side-missions to keep you occupied. You can hold up other establishments including bars, strip clubs, and armored cars in order to gain extra funds and steal the different gear you will need for future missions, all while keeping your infamy rating as low as possible.

Anyone familiar with this type of game will pretty much know what to expect. However, Codemasters and inXile are making a strong attempt at creating an original, sandbox-style action game with a strong focus on sleuth-like robberies and getaways in a never-before-seen simulation of 1960's San Francisco. Only time will tell how gamers take to its controls, and how well the game will run visually on current-gen consoles and PC. From the looks of the newly released trailer, things look graphically basic compared to GTA IV and other current-gen titles, though it does a good job of capturing the 1960's nostalgia that may appeal to fans of the era. We will find out this September.
