Sound in the game is also excellent, and helps lend some realism to the game's almost obnoxious cuteness. I have no idea what baby bears actually sound like, but if I'm to believe the sound effects in Kinectimals: Now With Bears!, they sound like puppies. Bears grunt, give small howls, and pant in the most adorable way, and if the sound in this game doesn't make you go "awwww" like a goofy little kid, you may not be human.
About the only thing that isn't extremely well-done in Kinectimals: Now With Bears! is the control scheme. Though simplistic actions are easy enough to perform, some of the more complex gestures can take a little while to register. Though this isn't a problem most of the time, many of the challenges and minigames are timed, and if the sensor doesn't read your movement correctly in time, you might not get as high of a score, which can decrease the amount of discovery points you get. Again, it's not that big of a deal, but it still can be a little bit of a bummer.
Kinectimals: Now With Bears! may not be that much of a departure from the first Kinectimals title. However, the game works reasonably well, and the bear-centric storyline and new content will certainly lure in young fans. Even if you are a hardened old gamer, you might find some value in this title. If you have ever been a fan of the virtual pet genre, this game is sure to win you over with its loose format and ridiculously over-the-top cute factor.
