Ever since Rayman Legends was announced, it was portrayed as a Wii U title, and to Ubisoft’s merit this has definitely worked to the game’s advantage. The ability to control Murphy the fairy with the Wii U touchpad while Rayman and his friends progressed through platforming segments really encapsulated the whole “Asymmetrical Gameplay” thing. The game also appears to be one of the only games that is already taking advantage of the Wii GamePad’s near-field communication support. Name a Wii U gimmick and Rayman Legends utilizes it, from motion control to cameras.
It certainly would be cool to see the game come out on the Xbox 360 or PS3, but I have no idea how you would simulate any of Murphy’s controls on those platforms. Considering he is pretty much mandatory for getting through the game, any port will have to be extensively modified. By Angelo M. D’Argenio |
