2017 Video Game Hall of Fame Inductees Revealed

This year’s Video Game Hall of Fame inductees have been announced by the Strong Museum. The picks are Halo: Combat Evolved , Donkey Kong , Pokemon Red and Green, and Street Fighter II . The group of 12 finalists under consideration also included Final Fantasy VII , Windows Solitaire , Mortal Kombat , Myst , Portal , Resident Evil , Tomb Raider and Wii Sports . These other games are still eligible for induction in subsequent years.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at the Strong Museum in Rochester, New York. This is the third year of the Video Game Hall of Fame. The last two sets of winners, which are permanently part of the Strong Museum as a result, are Doom , Grand Theft Auto III , The Legend of Zelda , The Oregon Trail , Pac-Man , Pong , The Sims , Sonic the Hedgehog , Space Invaders , Super Mario Bros. , Tetris, and World of Warcraft .
