If there’s one thing you never, ever do, it’s betray someone’s trust. If someone is counting on you for something, you deliver. This is especially true of companies trying to sell a service. Well, 2K Games has just betrayed its fans’ trust, and people are unhappy. It all has to do with a NBA 2K16 milestone and a broken promise.
On May 30, 2014, 2K Games promised a timed code for a Diamond Player if one million people followed the game’s official Twitter account . Yesterday, the milestone was reached and the company provided a NBA 2K16 Random Item Locker code in a tweet . However, that code resulted in random in-game items, not the guaranteed Diamond Player. People are mad.
2K Games tried to rectify things with a tweet that said the code would give a “chance” at getting an Amethyst or Diamond player, but it didn’t ward off repercussions. People are sending angry tweets, complaining on forums, and unfollowing the official Twitter account .
And rightfully so. This is disappointing. To claim people would get a great, rare Diamond Player for free, then give a common Random Item Locker code instead, is inexcusable. Let’s hope that the company makes things right, now that people are calling them on it.
