EA’s Peter Moore recently tweeted that one out of every three PS4 games sold at the time of its survey was an EA game. That’s a great feather in EA’s cap, but it also may have something to do with plain old math. For example, of the twenty five PS4 games currently available, five of them are EA titles, including Battlefield 4 , FIFA 14 , Madden NFL 25 , NBA Live 14 , and Need for Speed: Rivals . So even if quality didn’t factor in and everyone bought games at the same rate, EA would have at least had a 1 in 5 PS4 sales rate. Considering many of those 25 titles are also indie games, it’s not a big surprise that EA’s AAA titles would be leading the pack.
EA has come under fire recently for its games’ poor online performance on next-gen consoles. Currently, it is not clear what is causing these issues. EA at one point attributed the problems to Sony’s hardware, but later retracted that statement. The fact that EA was recently the target of a DDOS attack certainly didn’t help either.
