Activision May Have a Case

Activision May Have a Case

None

Last year, Activision fired Jason West and Vince Zampella of Infinity Ward. They also filed a suit against the pair, claiming they were conspiring to open a new studio while still contractually obligated to Infinity Ward.

The case got weirder last month, as Activision dragged EA into the lawsuit, claiming EA was “tampering with” West and Zampella.

An email recently surfaced that may give Activision a pretty solid case. The email, sent by Lincoln Hershberger, senior director of global marketing at EA DICE, states: “A couple months ago, I asked Vince to hold back their map pack until after we launched (he owes me one). Given that they’ve already made a billion, he was cool with that, obviously Kotick took it as being belligerent.” This seems to imply that EA was influencing Zampella to hold back the release of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack until after the release of EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
