Last year, Activision fired Jason West and Vince Zampella of Infinity Ward. They also filed a suit against the pair, claiming they were conspiring to open a new studio while still contractually obligated to Infinity Ward. The case got weirder last month, as Activision dragged EA into the lawsuit, claiming EA was “tampering with” West and Zampella. ![]() An email recently surfaced that may give Activision a pretty solid case. The email, sent by Lincoln Hershberger, senior director of global marketing at EA DICE, states: “A couple months ago, I asked Vince to hold back their map pack until after we launched (he owes me one). Given that they’ve already made a billion, he was cool with that, obviously Kotick took it as being belligerent.” This seems to imply that EA was influencing Zampella to hold back the release of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack until after the release of EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2. |
