Street Fighter and Tekken are games that are inextricably linked for some reason. They were fierce competitors for a while, and have also been packaged together in crossover games. The upcoming release of Tekken 7 is even set to have a guest appearance from an infamous Street Fighter character; Akuma.
Senior game designer, Michael Murray, stated, however, that he and series producer Katsuhiro Harada typically like to avoid guest characters as they don’t always fit in with the Tekken world. Akuma is being fully integrated into the story, though. In a recent reveal trailer, the antagonist, Kazumi, calls on Akuma to repay a debt he owes her.
While Akuma is the only planned character to cross over into the release, the door is always open for DLC. Especially if the choice resonates with fans. Akuma will play in a mostly classic Street Fighter style, throwing fireballs and dragon punches about the arena.
