Aliens: Colonial Marines Pegged For 2012

None

Aliens: Colonial Marines has not had the easiest time getting published. The title was originally canceled back in 2001, when we were all eagerly awaiting the next Duke Nukem Forever announcement. It took five years for SEGA to purchase the rights and ally with Gearbox software, and another six years to finally get a plan together for a commercial release.

Colonial Marines is an FPS that is designed to be “the definitive Aliens gaming experience” according to Gary Knight, senior vice president of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America. “Gearbox Software are doing a brilliant job translating the thrill and horror that Aliens stands for into an action-packed shooter experience with co-operative gameplay at its core.” The game puts players in the middle of a fight against Xenomorphs as they search for the crew of the U.S.S. Sulaco. Players will travel through familiar movie environments and wield authentic movie weapons. Let the hype begin!

The title is pegged for a spring 2012 release. It will be heading for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, and will be showcased at this year’s E3. We will bring you a full preview once we get to try it out on the convention floor.
