Apple to Buy Key Kinect Company

Apple to Buy Key Kinect Company

Apple is currently in talks to acquire PrimeSense, the company that developed the technology behind the Xbox 360’s Kinect . According to Israeli financial news site Calcalist, Apple will purchase the Tel Aviv based company for $345 million dollars. The deal is not yet final and official details have not yet been given by either company, so for now it is just rumor, but it’s a rumor with some teeth. We first heard word about the acquisition back in July, form Calcalist once again.

What does this mean for Microsoft and the Xbox One? Not much really. Any device that PrimeSense has already developed for Microsoft will still be Microsoft’s property, allowing them to remake and redistribute it as much as they like. Should we see another Xbox, the Xbox Two perhaps, Microsoft can always find another company that makes motion sensing devices and hitch up with them.
