Arc System Works Hosting 25th Anniversary Tournament

Arc System Works Hosting 25th Anniversary Tournament

Arc System Works, the team behind the inimitable Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series of 2D fighters, is set to ring in its 25th year with ARC FES , the “Arc System Works Festival.” The lynchpin of this event is the Arc Revolution Cup, a tournament featuring the latest versions of Guilty Gear XX, BlazBlue, and Persona 4: Arena. Qualifiers are set to culminate on May 18 at the Tokyo Leisure Land Akihabara, with the main tournament occurring at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center the following day.

In addition to its tournaments, the festival will feature a live concert of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue tracks and a web radio show with 11 Guilty Gear/BlazBlue voice actors. Arc has also been hinting that the event might serve as a venue for them to reveal brand new information. Perhaps a new fighting franchise? Or a direct, fighting game sequel to Guilty Gear XX?

Beyond the Festival, Arc is also taking advantage of their anniversary to offer discounts on some of their library. The Xbox Live versions of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, Guilty Gear 2: Overture, Battle Fantasia, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend are all on sale for anywhere from 25% to more than 50% off. The deals are currently exclusive to Japan and run through May 21. It’s unclear as to whether or not the sale will also makes its way over to North American shores, since some of the titles included were published through Aksys over here.
